Dark Horse Comics" Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith - Spiral #5" - The Thrilling Final Chapter

This week’s new Star Wars comic from Dark Horse brings about the end of the “Lost Tribe of the Sith” story line. Lord Dreypa’s Leviathans continue their destruction of the lost tribe of Sith, searching in vain for an ancient, well-hidden Jedi starship. Beating Dreypa to the ship, a Sith rebel finds himself on the cusp of attaining his dreams—destruction of the tribe and discovery of a way to reach the galaxy. But there could be something that would cause him to have a change of heart, and Lord Dreypa could have found it!

Girl With Heart Transplant And Her Disney Trip

Girl With Heart Transplant And Her Disney Trip

A girl who underwent a heart transplant was treated to a “magical” weekend at Disneyland Paris with her parents.

Three year old Ellie Beale was handed a surprise ticket to Disneyland Paris’s 20th anniversary celebrations and the launch of its winter festivities courtesy of Disney and were given VIP treatment for the whole weekend.

This was the family’s first time to Disney.  “None of us had been before and it was quite an eye-opening experience. It was absolutely fantastic for Ellie. She had a wonderful time.” said her mom Mrs Beale.

Ellie was a guest of Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she has been a patient since she was 20 months old.  Disney has supported the London hospital since 2008. Ellie was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart becomes enlarged.   Her illness is thought to have been caused by a virus that attacked her heart and made it so weak it was unable to pump enough blood round her body.

The family was joined by three other patients and their families and stayed in different hotels each night.  They were also given a tour guide as well as VIP access to many of the attractions.

Her Dad Mr Beale said: “Right from the check-in through to the moment we got back they went absolutely overboard to look after us. Nothing was ever too much for them. Ellie is really into things like Disney princesses and Tinkerbell is probably her favorite thing. She loved the whole magic of it.”

Do you need a Disney Rewards Visa Credit Card?

chase

If you are anything like me the answer is a resounding NO! In fact I don’t need any more credit cards!   That doesn’t stop every credit card company on earth from sending me a pre-approved credit application once a week.  Even Disney Rewards Visa  was relentless. The photo of Mickey on the card, designed to draw any Disney Addict in.  Oh wait, I can choose from multiple designs?  I can even pick a Tinkerbell card!  Nope, don’t need it.  They can’t make me, I’ve paid off all my cards.  I will not repeat the mistakes of my early 20’s.

I remained firm for a year.  Shredding every application that came.  Mickey’s smiling face cut into a thousand pieces.  UNTIL…What?  A $50 Disney gift card if I sign up?  How did they know I had a trip planned in 3 months?   That will come in handy for sure.  I will use it towards my trip.  That did it, I was done.  Magic words…Disney Gift Card.  Now I had to open the envelope and see what was involved.  Within a few minutes I had my card design picked out (Where Dreams Come True) and the card was on its way.  My husband won’t care, at least it’s not the Tink card.  I’ll get rid of the Gymboree card, that’s the plan.

Why did I give in?  The Disney Rewards Visa has great perks and no annual fee.  Here’s the scoop:

Your Disney Reservation can not be located.

Your Disney Reservation can not be located…Have you seen those horrible words when checking on your Disney Reservation? I have and it puts me in panic mode and I am normally a very calm person. I have had issues in the past with my reservations disappearing, but they always reappear.

Today Disney launched a new site, it is working in conjunction with the My Disney Experience iPad app. Not all the features are fully accessible across the website and the App just yet, but they will be. I spoke to someone at Disney Reservations and she said that they hope everything will be fully operational within 48 hours. I had to manually enter my reservation numbers and it had no problem locating my Dining reservation but it could not locate my vacation I have planned for February. The chat feature on the new site is also not functional yet, so you would have to call.

She said they are having bigger  issues with reservations made under the Florida resident or the Annual passholder discounts, which of course is mine. So keep checking back and if your reservation can not be found within 48 hours then please let them know but do not freak out because your reservations are still in the internal system they just may take some extra time to show up on the new site.

5 Ways To Ruin A Walt Disney World Vacation

xmas

Walt Disney World is a magical place to vacation and if you do most things correctly it is difficult to not have a wonderful time. Some people are planners and some are not but some planning is essential. Every traveling group has a definite dynamic and there are travelers within each group with different abilities and needs. The magic of Walt Disney World can overcome most things but there are a few things that MANY, MANY visitors do that can defeat even that magic. Let’s look at five things that can derail an otherwise incredible visit.

  • OVERPLANNING: An awful lot of people get carried away with the planning portion of a visit. They try to plan every minute of every day and more often than not they suffer some disappointment because of the dreaded “Disney variables”. Although there are a lot of sites around that do a good job of predicting crowd levels, none of them are always accurate. You must allow some spare time to account for unexpected crowds and other things like an attraction going down because of a malfunction – it happens!! If you find yourself asking how long it takes to walk from attraction A to attraction B so you won’t miss anything, you are overplanning.
  • THE DOMINANT PERSONALITY: As I mentioned in the introduction, every traveling group has a dynamic which includes a dominant person in the group. If you don’t  recognize who that person is in your party, it’s probably you. I speak from experience here because I am generally the dominant personality. I have learned over time that I have to step back and let the other members of the group take the lead. When I find myself taking over the group I have to say to myself – it’s not all about you!! Let your family and friends make some touring decisions.
  • GOING COMMANDO (NO RESTING): It always amazes me the number of visitors who feel that they have to be on the go and hitting attractions every minute of every day. They are easy to spot because they are the ones in full meltdown about half way through their day. I’m not just talking about the kids either, grownups have meltdowns too. Kids cry and grownups yell or grimace at each other. Do yourself a favor, relax your pace and make every attempt to get out of the park for an hour or two each day. Take a nap or a dip in your resort pool and if you are not staying on site go visit one of the beautiful Disney resorts to just sit down for a snack or a cold beverage – you will not regret it.
  • NOT LISTENING TO YOUR BODY: Your body knows when it needs something!!! When it’s tired it needs rest of one type or another, when it’s hungry it needs nourishment. and when it’s thirsty it needs fluids. One of the worst things you can do to yourself at Walt Disney World is to not stay hydrated. You get caught up in the excitement (happened to me in October) and you don’t drink as much WATER as you should. Dehydration is the quickest ticket to feeling just plain miserable and is the easiest thing to prevent – water, water, and more water!! Don’t worry, there are plenty of restrooms at Walt Disney World and they are generally spotless!!!!
  • WINGING IT (ZERO PLANNING): I did this once and believe it or not, this is worse than overplanning. Walt Disney World is huge and very complicated so if you don’t do any planning I can almost guarantee you will spend a significant portion of your vacation standing in line for attractions. Equally as important, one of the easiest ways to rest is at a table service restaurant but if you don’t pre plan at least some meals and make the appropriate reservations you are very likely to be disappointed. The internet is a gold mine for research and any planning you do (just don’t overdo it) will be rewarded.

It’s very tough to ruin a vacation to Walt Disney World but if you do some of the things I mentioned above you are on your way. I learned most of the things I talked about through many, many visits over the years and I hope reading about them will help you maximize your visit. As always, enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World!!
