Top 5 Reasons to Visit Chef Mickey’s

cm

Chef Mickey’s is a character buffet located in the Contemporary Resort, right next door to the Magic Kingdom. This buffet offers a fun, contemporary setting, along with Mickey and the gang dressed in chef apparel!

Since this restaurant does showcase the main mouse himself, Chef Mickey’s is one of the most popular restaurants in all of WDW; and today, I’m giving you my top 5 reasons why I think you should try if for yourself!

5. Location-A huge part of the Contemporary’s appeal is its location! The Contemporary Resort sits right next to the Magic Kingdom. In fact, some of the resort’s rooms actually overlook the park! Talk about a room with a view! Anyway, Chef Mickey’s is located on one of the main floors of the resort with a cavernous ceiling overhead; and while there isn’t much of a theme, the dining area still feels warm and full of fun!

4. Appeals to Whole Family-Typically the term “character buffet” sends up red flags for adult diners; but even though Chef Mickey’s is definitely family-friendly, the contemporary atmosphere and great food makes this dining spot rank higher than others with adults. Also, because this is a character meal, and the Contemporary is pretty impressive with the Monorail zipping through the lobby, kids are always impressed and have a ball!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey And Donald Have A Farm DVD Review

images

The latest addition to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD collection was released on December 11. Featuring five classic episodes, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey And Donald Have A Farm was an instant hit with my little ones. In fact, it was played over and over again.

The five classic episodes include:

  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey and Donald Have A Farm  – Mickey’s surprise for the Clubhouse is a trip to the farm! But where are all the animals? To keep the bugs away from his prize petunias, Farmer Pete has been using his powerful windmill, but the windmill created such a strong wind that it blew all the farm animals away!
  • Goofy’s Petting Zoo  – 19 animals (eight cows, ten pigs, and one elephant) from the petting zoo escape while Zookeeper for the day, Goofy takes a nap.
  • Clarabelle’s Clubhouse Mooo-sical – Clarabelle stages a musical about nursery rhymes starring chickens from the petting zoo.
  • Goofy The Homemaker – Goofy plans to build a birdhouse for Baby Red Bird and Mommy Red Bird beside the Clubhouse.
  • Donald Hatches An Egg  – Donald cares for a lost egg while his friends search for its family.

The dvd includes a small planting activity kit, making Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey and Donald Have A Farm a wonderful way to get your children excited and engaged with gardening. The activity kit includes a package of seeds (we got lettuce), character garden markers, and fun facts.

I was tickled to see Goofy’s Petting Zoo because it is has been a favorite since my eldest was young and enjoyed the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The ”Shake, Shake, Shake Your Peanut” song will forever remind me of when he was little.

Don’t waste another minute! Dust off those cowboy boots and prepare to lend a helping hand in this farm-tastic barnyard adventure!

Changes Coming to Walt Disney World in 2013

changes

Heading to Walt Disney World in 2013? You can expect a few changes and some new experiences at everyone favorite theme park! Here is your guide to everything new in 2013 and beyond.

Price Changes

Of course, prices always change and not necessarily in the way we would like them to. Price increases can be seen this year in everything from dining to tickets to behind the scenes tours.

Tickets– We are already living the ticket increase for 2012-2013. Disney traditionally raises park admission prices in the summer and this held true in June of 2012. It is likely that the next ticket price increase we will see will be in summer of 2013. When prices went up last June we saw a $4 increase in the price of a 1 day base ticket which now stands at $89 and a $27 increase in the price of a 10 day base ticket which now stands at $318.

The biggest changes however, were seen in the prices of annual passes. On the annual pass front there is good news and there is bad news. The good news: Disney World Annual Pass rates rose only 11% from $519 to $574. I am considering this good news because Disneyland passholders saw a 30% increase in the price of their passes. I think it is safe to say a bullet was dodged in Orlando.

The Bad News: Disney World now has no distinction between a childs annual pass and an adult annual pass which means guests can expect to pay nearly $100 more for a child’s AP than they did in 2011.

Disney World Behind the Magic – What Disney does behind the scenes to help YOU have a better vacation

DisneyCharacters

Walt Disney World, those two words are enough to make you smile-and that’s no accident! Amazingly, everything from the layout of the parks to the scents wafting through the air is designed to boost your happiness. Our friends at, Woman’s World Magazine, wrote an article on how you can incorporate that magical mojo into your life. We thought it was a good article so we wanted to share with you some other things Disney does behind the scenes to help you have a better and more magical vacation…

Changing Pathways

Sure, Disney World’s fairy-tale skyline invite you to look up-but what’s going on at ground level is just as interesting: The cement on Main Street is mixed with rubber-like material that makes it softer on visitors’ feet! And since sensory information is sent to your brain via your feet, the walkways are also designed to stimulate your imagination. From the rough, Old-West-inspired paths of Frontierland to the gem-studded lanes of Adventureland, each area of the park tells its own story from the bottom up!

Make it work for you by kicking off your shoes! Letting your feet feel a variety of textures-from soft carpeting to cool tile-is proven to de-stress your brain by “surprising” it with new sensations!

Which WDW Souvenirs Should I Buy?

Pinlanyard
One of the best things about vacationing at Walt Disney World is souvenir shopping – they have so many stores with so many different items that it can be hard to pick just a select few to bring home with you. So if you aren’t sure what kind of souvenirs you should buy, then here are a few questions you should ask yourself:

Will you actually use it at home? Many things seem cool when at the Parks, but be practical – think hard and be realistic about if it will be useful once you get home

Is it too big? size is a factor when purchasing souvenirs, and while those giant stuffed animals or balloons are fun, they may not fit too well into your suitcase. Size is especially important to consider when flying, as you may have to pay a fee for an extra bag or overweight luggage

Is it worth the cost? This kind of goes along with “will you use it at home”, an item is ‘worth it’ if it’s useful, practical, or even if you just love it. Some of the items sold at WDW can be pretty pricey, and if you are like me, you set a souvenir budget, so if one item is going to blow your whole budget, you will definitely want to consider if it’s worth it to you, cost wise

Taking in the Walt Disney World Parades

MICKEY’S SOUNDSATIONAL PARADE

“What time is the three o’clock parade?”  “Where does the Main Street Electrical Parade begin?”  Now that I have your attention, let’s talk Walt Disney World Parades.  People waver back and forth about the best viewing spots, time to grab a spot, and even etiquette when it comes to parades at the most magical place on earth.  Today, I want to share with you some of the best spots to view the parades at each park.

Magic Kingdom Park:

  • Just in front of the Liberty Boat is a great location.  There is an outdoor food cart, that usually sells fresh fruits and other snack items.  This is a GREAT place to catch each parade at Magic Kingdom.  The people here are rarely three deep, and it is also a spot where cast members put up the “entrance/exit” poles with the ropes.
  • As you enter Magic Kingdom, stay to the right of Main Street USA.  As you pass the bakery and ice cream shoppe, there are some tables just at the end, before it leads off to Tomorrowland.  These tables are a great spot for the Celebrate a Dream Come True, Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It! especially.  Also, think about the photos you’ll be taking-if you venture down Main Street, toward the “hub”, you’ll likely get Cinderella’s Castle in the background.
  • Frontierland-The platform, in front of the Shooting Arcade is a great viewing spot, too.  Plus, if you are here for the MSEP, you’ll have a decent view of Wishes.  OR, you can hit Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain with little wait after the parade passes.
