SCHOOL’S OUT, SURF’S UP AND KIDS AND FAMILIES ARE INVITED TO DIVE IN TO “TEEN BEACH MOVIE,” A ‘BREAK INTO SONG AND DANCE’ DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE PREMIERING FRIDAY, JULY 19

Disney Channel — which introduced a generation of kids and tweens to movie musicals — will premiere the highly anticipated “Teen Beach Movie,” a modern take on classic beach party movies, FRIDAY, JULY 19 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT). The movie trailer will debut exclusively on Disney.com (3:00 a.m., ET/12:00 a.m. PT) and on Disney Channel (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on FRIDAY, MARCH 15.

Starring are Ross Lynch (of Disney Channel’s “Austin & Ally” and Hollywood Records’ R5) and Maia Mitchell (ABC Family’s upcoming “The Fosters”) as Brady and McKenzie, surfers who take the last wave of summer, one that mysteriously takes them into a classic beach party movie, Wet Side Story. There, it’s surfers versus bikers for control of the beach hangout…and everyone spontaneously breaks into song and dance. Brady and McKenzie must try to return to present day, but their lives may be changed forever when they inadvertently change the movie’s romantic storyline — and the movie’s handsome surf guy, Tanner, is falling for McKenzie while biker girl Lela is swooning for Brady.

Ah a love triangle can’t wait to see how this one pans out but i do believe it should be one heck of a ride so make sure to tune in!

“Teen Beach Movie” also stars: Grace Phipps (ABC Family’s “The Nine Lives of Chloe King”) as Lela, Garrett Clayton as Tanner, John Deluca as Butchy, Chrissie Fit (“General Hospital”) as Cheechee, with Tony Award-nominated Kevin Chamberlin (“Jessie,” Broadway’s “The Addams Family”) as Dr. Fusion and Steve Valentine (“Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie,” Disney XD’s “I’m In The Band”) as Les Camembert.

Leading up to the premiere, Disney Channel SVOD and verified WATCH Disney Channel users will be treated to a first look at “Teen Beach Movie” beginning MONDAY, JULY 15. The movie’s soundtrack, 12 songs influenced by surf rock, Motown R&B, rockabilly and pop, will be available from Walt Disney Records TUESDAY, JULY 16 on iTunes and in stores nationwide. Acclaimed songwriters and producers Antonina Armato & Tim James, Jeannie Lurie, Aris Archontis, Chen Neeman, David Lawrence & Faye Greenberg, Ali Dee, Mitch Allan, Jason Evigan and Nikki Leonti contributed to the soundtrack.

Boy Passes Away from Drowning at Pop Century

pop_century_pool

Sad news to report today out of Walt Disney World Resort where according to the Orlando Sentinel a 13-year old boy, Anthony Johnson, has passed away from drowning. Last Sunday, the child was pulled out of the pool at Pop Century Resort at the Hippy Dippy pool around 9:30pm and was taken to an Orlando area hospital where he passed away today. He was swimming with his family when they lost sight of him and after a few minutes a cousin spotted him at the bottom of the pool.

The boy’s father performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived and took over. The family was visiting  Disney on vacation from Fordland, MO.

Lifeguards were at the pool from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and signs are posted that guests swim at their own risk after hours, Disney spokeswoman Marilyn Waters said.

“We are saddened by Anthony Johnson’s passing and our hearts go out to his family, friends and loved ones. We have reached out to his family to offer care and assistance during this difficult time,” the company said in a statement.

Everyone here at Chip&Co. offers our condolences and prayers to his family during this sad time.

I’m Going to California Adventure. Now what do I do?

DCA

I always save California Adventure for Day 2. I mean, who doesn’t? Disneyland is the original and still the best place to start, and end…  Yeah okay, you caught me. I always do a 3 (or more) day park hopper for Disneyland. This way I do a full day at each park and split the 3rd day between the two.

So you’ve gone to Disneyland, you’ve listened to my sage advice and riden all the best rides, seen the best shows, and all that Disneyland has to offer. And of course you ate at Blue Bayou, right? right? I mean, I kinda stressed it in that one posting didn’t I?

So here you are at California Adventure… Now What? What do you do first? Well two things, hopefully you read the posting on Radiator Springs Racers so you already knew to get those FastPasses before the park even opened. Second thing you want to do is get your FastPass to World Of Color, if you don’t already have a dining package. Don’t worry World Of Color FastPasses don’t keep you from getting any other ones. It’s simply to help control the crowd by assigning sections.

Having fun with our St. Patrick’s Day Crafts from Disney’s Spoonful.com

Leprechaun Trap

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the bend!  Why not take a break from finding the end of the rainbow for some fun and easy St. Patrick’s Day crafts?  Last week I shared a ton of  festive Paddy’s day ideas featured on Disney’s Spoonful.com.  Today I want to show you how easy these crafts are to do and how cute they turned out!  These crafts require easily accessible materials, many of which you may already have on hand.  Add a little extra luck this St. Patrick’s Day with these simple crafts.

Try on a Leprechaun

St. Patrick’s Day Craft #1: Try On Leprechaun

Supplies: a mirror, craft foam, glue and printable templates

Instructions:

1.  Use your mirror as a base for your leprechaun.

2.  Download the templates for the leprechaun at Spoonful.com.

3.  Cut out and trace templates onto craft foam.

4.  Cut out and glue craft foam onto mirror.

5.  Feel like a leprechaun when you look in the mirror!

This craft is super easy!  I did it with my toddler and he really enjoyed playing with glue and putting the pieces together!   He obviously required more guidance than a school-aged child, but with a little moving around of the pieces, and glue on the mirror, we got the job done and enjoyed seeing a leprechaun when we looked in the mirror!

Traveling to Walt Disney World with Another Family

bc

Traveling to Walt Disney World with another family can be super fun!  I mean, why not get together with another family-be it friends from school, neighbors, or even the in laws-at the most magical place on earth?  Your kids will have someone their age to enjoy attractions and meals with, you’ll have adult friends to chat over dessert with, and it’ll be awesome!  Right!?

If you are thinking of planning a trip with another family, you’ll want to follow these tips to make it easier and much more fun.

1.  Designate someone to make the resort reservations.  I suggest deciding on a resort, and booking two separate reservations.  After you have done so, you call Disney and give them both confirmation numbers.  You tell them you are traveling together, and that you need adjoining rooms.  They’ll put in the request for you.  I’ve never had my request for adjoining rooms go unanswered.  If adjoining rooms isn’t your thing, or not an option at your resort, ask them for rooms next to each other.

2.  Have each person in your travel party make a list of “must eats”.  From this list, generate some restaurants you’d like to make ADRs for and do it as soon as possible.  Have them hold your reservation under one person’s credit card.  Then, when you get to your meal, you can pay for it as you wish-separately, as one check, or using your DDP credits.  Remember, that with parties of 8 or more, Disney automatically includes an 18% gratuity in your bill.
