DIAGON ALLEY IS COMING TO UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT

Scheduled to open in 2014, the world’s first centrally themed, multi-park experience expands The
Wizarding World of Harry Potter across both Universal Orlando theme parks and allows Universal’s
creative team to bring an unparalleled vision to this unique project. The new area will bring to life
some of the experiences and places found in and around London in the Harry Potter books and
films, offering brand-new adventures for fans and theme park guests from around the world.
Diagon Alley and ‘London’ will be located within the Universal Studios Florida theme park, which is
adjacent to Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park, where guests now experience Hogwarts
and Hogsmeade. The new area within Universal Studios will be just as expansive, immersive and
authentic as the existing themed environment.

And – just like in the books and films – guests will be able to travel between ‘London’ and Hogsmeade aboard the Hogwarts Express. Work on the new area is already underway. When complete, it will feature shops, a restaurant and an innovative, marquee attraction based on Gringotts bank – all directly inspired by the fiction and films.

Disney Junior Digital Magazine Review

Disney JR

If you have young kids you are going to want to subscribe to the new Disney Junior  digital magazine available in the app store or Apple Newsstand.

My son and I spent hours playing with this interactive magazine and let me tell you, it was a big hit with both of us. The issue we read was called “Everyone’s an Artist,” and there were lots of games relating to color and art work.  My son loved all of the coloring and the ability to choose which color virtual crayon he would use with each new page!  I love the fact that he could draw and write without any risk to my walls and floors!

Marvel Studios Has Regained the Rights to Ghost Rider and Blade

ghost-rider-blade-marvel-studios

In a rather surprising turn of events, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has revealed that the studio has reacquired the film rights to two of their most popular characters, Ghost Rider and Blade. This is two of four sets of characters, and universes, that the studio has reacquired in the past two years. Last October, Marvel publicly regained control of DareDevil from 20th Century Fox, and earlier in the year had also managed to re-obtain The Punisher as well. While the characters coming home under the banner is excellent news, at this time, there is no plans of bringing the characters back to the screen anytime soon. This now means there are only three major character universes left for Marvel to get back in house: Spider-Man from Sony Pictures, and the Fantastic Four and X-Men from 20th Century Fox. Unfortunately, I’m not holding my breath to see those coming back to their parent company any time soon, but at least the ball has been set in motion for Marvel to regain many of their own properties.

The most interesting thing about this acquisitions, at least for me, is that these characters they’ve gotten back all live in a very different part of the Marvel universe, and one I’d love to see on screen. I think it might be time for Marvel to think about possibly opening up the seedy underbelly, and more supernatural side, of their universe, one that is totally different than the super heroic side, and the cosmic side we’re starting to move towards. I really think this is their chance to do something incredibly different, creating another part of the universe where gangs, crime bosses, vampires, and more reign supreme, and only the most hardened of characters, can enter. The idea of seeing The Punisher and DareDevil working together, or Blade and Ghost Rider possibly fighting side by side against a common supernatural foe has me absolutely giddy, so I can dream about the possibilites. Are you glad to see Marvel has regained the rights to some of its characters? Let me know in the comments below, only here at Chip and Company!

Transformers: The Ride 3-D Coming to Universal Orlando

Transformers: The Ride 3-D Coming to Universal Orlando
Prepare for Battle

Are you prepared for the battle that is coming to Universal Studios Orlando?

As announced last week Transformers: The Ride 3-D will be opening at Universal Studios Orlando on June 20. This attraction is sure to be a huge hit among Transformers fans and will certainly bring large crowds to Universal Studios this summer. Transformers 3-D will be located in the Production Central area of the park near Shrek and Despicable Me.

The Decepticons, lead by the ruthless Megatron, have brought a war to Orlando as they try to take possession of the All Spark and enslave humanity. As a N.E.S.T. recruit you will  jump into this intense 3-D simulator experience and join the new Transformer EVAC, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and the other Autobots to defeat Megatron and his Decepticon forces. The attraction itself is made up of  3-D projection and motion simulation (much like many of the other attractions at Universal Studios). The height restriction for riders is 40 inches or taller. Universal Studios has not confirmed yet if Express Passes will be offered for this attraction, we may see it added in the future but not when it first opens.

5 Reasons You’ll Fall In Love With Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort

wl

So, you’ve decided it’s time for another trip to Walt Disney World, Let me be the first to congratulate you on a decision well made, and may I also suggest that you consider the beautiful Wilderness Lodge as your Disney Resort. WHY, you might ask? Well, here’s the top 5 reasons:

1. A Lot To Look At – Inside AND outside: From far away, it looks like a giant log cabin, and it is simply breathtaking. It’s modeled after the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park, as it was in the early 1900’s. The lobby is quite the sight – it has an 80 foot tall fireplace, huge totem poles, and plenty of spaces to relax (including some old fashioned wooden rocking chairs). The theming is spectacular at this resort, from the landscaping to the sound of crickets as you enter the front door, you really are immersed in the National Park motif that’s carried on throughout the Resort.

Raglan Road Irish Pub Presents: The Summer Solstice Signature Dining Experience

Raglan Road

Master Chef Kevin Dundon of Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant has created a tantalizing menu incorporating fresh seasonal flavors for a special Summer Solstice Signature Dinner which takes place on the 20th of June. Enjoy a sumptuous five course menu paired with the finest wines that have been expertly chosen to complement and enhance the delicious flavors of each dish. Chef Kevin adds his unique style and flair to the menu combining his passion for freshness and simplicity.

The Summer Solstice marks the official start of the summer in the Northern Hemisphere and has long been associated with ancient summer customs and traditions. It is often the time of the first harvest and when plants and herbs planted during the spring equinox were collected hence a celebration of nature’s bounty. In ancient times the Summer Solstice was hugely significant; it was a time when the power of the Sun was at its highest and crops & fields were blessed to ensure a good harvest.
