Easy Tips to Avoid Losing your Kids at Disney World or Disneyland

Walt

If you are like me, I am in constant fear that I will lose my kids at any theme park and Disney World or Disneyland is no exception.  From one paranoid parent to another, these are the ways I reassure myself that we will happily reunited if we become separated.

Keep in mind, my kids are 12 and 13 and give me a very hard time with these precautions lately.  Nonetheless, I persist.

1.  At the resort, before you leave, each day…take a photo of your child.  This ensures a recent photo as well as a record of what they are wearing each day.

2.  Upon entry into the park – pick a meeting place in case you get lost (pretty standard for us neurotic moms). Right in front of the castle like in the image above is a great central meeting spot.

3.  Make a fun bracelet with your cell phone number on it.  Those rubber ones that we all have floating around from various giveaways work great – like yellow Livestrong ones, remember those?  We decorated those with Mickey ears and put the phone numbers on them.  Another cool idea is to make a bracelet out of embroidery floss and then add a “charm” to it that has the phone number on it.  Here’s a hint – you can make a “charm” at the little kiosk where you make a tag for your dog at WalMart…same thing!

4.  Teach your little one to look for a Cast Member by recognizing a name tag.  They can go to that “safe” person and show them the phone number, reuniting them with you quickly.

Although my kids are getting too old for this….sniff, sniff….it really empowered them when they were little.  They knew exactly what to do if we were separated and even better, they knew we had a plan and would find each other quickly!

Take heart, everyone gets lost at least once as a kid – these tips will minimize the anxiety if and when it does happen.

This weekend Sulley visited Hanover, New Hampshire, the home of Dartmouth College!

Monsters University producer Kori Rae and fellow student Sulley started the day Saturday with a photo op with film students in front of the Spaulding Auditorium and then off to the Dartmouth vs. Yale Homecoming Football game. Halftime score had Dartmouth crushing Yale. The Dartmouth Band played a selection of music from MU as Kori and Sulley paraded across the field to salute fans at the 50 yard line. The student body and spectators went wild. Lots of pictures were taken and Sulley lingered to shake hands with a lot of the Big Green. Final score was Dartmouth 20, Yale 13.

Sunday evening was the highlight with the Dartmouth Film Award and Tribute to Pixar presented by The Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College.  The night began with a moving Pixar tribute reel followed by Sulley escorting Director Dan Scanlon and Kori to the stage for a moderated Q&A and showcase of bonus features “Monthropology,” “Scare Games,” and “Paths to Pixar.”

Could Lord of the Rings be coming to Disney?

Howdy do peeps? It’s your favorite person, Anonymouse!! Well I have some more really juicy gossip for you. It seems as though Disney and Warner Brothers have either signed a contract or might sign one in the near future to bring a “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” themed areas to the parks. I had originally heard that Universal would be picking this one up, but I guess not.

Apparently Disney has started talking to executives at Warner Bros. about the idea, and it seems as though now Disney is looking to finalize the plans

Disney is said to be overhauling the planned expansion of Hollywood Studios to focus on Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings.

I have no idea what these themed lands might include but I am sure that we will soon find out. Maybe an announcement is coming soon!

Remember at this point this just a rumor, nothing is set in stone yet. However you know that as soon as we know you will know.

Do you think this is a good fit for the parks?

Anywho that is all the Disney gossip I have right now. Form y past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at [email protected] or on my Facebook page.

Just Say NO to Fanny Packs!

No Fanny Pack

I was born and raised in a tourist town. Just like the pick-pockets in Europe know, there is one way to spot a tourist. No matter where my friends and I went, whether strolling along the beach or shopping in the shops downtown, we could always pick them out of a crowd. No, they didn’t wear funny hats necessarily, nor did they incessantly ask us for directions; they were wearing fanny packs.

The high school I went to was pretty normal for normal people, but do something out of the norm like wearing a fanny pack and you were doomed. Fanny pack was spelled N-E-R-D and if there was one thing none of us wanted to be, it was a nerd.

There are some things you just can’t seem to change your attitude about. I still refuse to wear a fanny pack. I know people who wear them, like my mom who is  nearly 76, and to me that is allowed. For me, though, they look ridiculous; plus they bring unnecessary attention to the tummy and hip area (something I can live without at my age).

That is why I am sharing some ideas on great fanny pack substitutions today. You are sure to look groovy if you use one of these babies instead.

Backpack

Backpack
This is the way I visit the parks. Everything I need fits nicely into the backpack and it looks perfectly normal while feeling very comfortable. When I get into my favorite rides, I just step through the strap and it is as secure as if it were wrapped around my waist.

Baggalini

Just Say NO to Fanny Packs!

Some Disney visitors swear by this bag. It holds just about everything and is handy for the things you want to access quickly. It has several pockets, credit card slots, pen and lipstick holders, a mirror, detachable ID and coin holder, etc. Pretty hand in this messenger bag style.

Disney Messenger Bag

Just Say NO to Fanny Packs!

These are too cute, aren’t they; and how appropriate. They have organizer pockets, card slots and a zippered outside pocket for ease of getting to your key to the kingdom. You can even have them personalized at disneystore.com.

If you are a female who insists on wearing a fanny pack, then more power to you. But, if you are old school like me, I hope these suggestions might help you to figure out a good alternative.

Whatever you decide, happy touring!

D23, presents Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives, an extraordinary exhibition which encompasses nearly 300 artifacts from nine decades of Disney history in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry. The exhibit will be opening up in Chicago to celebrate the 90th Anniversary on the exact day the company was formed.

We will be posting pictures live from the event on the Chip and Co Instragram

Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives showcases the creative accomplishments and innovations of one of Chicago’s native sons, Walt Disney, and the ongoing legacy of the company that bears his name. From Mickey Mouse to Mary Poppins to Captain Jack Sparrow, the exhibition features many artifacts that have not been widely seen by the public, including drawings; props; costumes; artwork from classic Disney animation, theme park attractions, TV shows and live action films; plus items from contemporary Disney milestones.

Viva Navidad

The Happiest Place on Earth just got a little happier this holiday season with the newest celebration at the Disneyland Resort – “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” Guests will enjoy this festive holiday presentation Nov. 15, 2013 through Jan. 6, 2014 in Disney California Adventure Park.

“Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” is a merry celebration inspired by the warmth and joyous spirit of the Latino culture, filled with holiday traditions, jubilant dancing and exciting music. Based in and around the Paradise Garden area of Disney California Adventure, the special activities include crafts and face-painting for children, live Latino music, dance lessons, holiday foods, a “Disney ¡Viva Navidad! Street Party” and, of course, appearances by some popular Disney characters.

  • Disney characters participating in “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Goofy in their festive costumes along with the Three Caballeros: Donald Duck, Panchito Pistoles from Mexico and Jose Carioca from Brazil.
  • Paradise Garden will be decorated with holly, banners and Latino cultural icons, including traditional “papel picado” hand-cut paper art decorations.
  • The exciting “Disney ¡Viva Navidad! Street Party” takes over Paradise Garden several times daily, featuring the Three Caballeros on a festive holiday float, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse transported on colorfully decorated street tricycles, flag-bearers carrying papel picado banners, Mexican folklorico dancers, samba dancers and drummers, plus giant “Mojiganga” puppets, including representations of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
  • At the Paradise Garden bandstand, guests will enjoy performances by traditional mariachi, Norteño, and other regional music groups. Also at Paradise Garden, community music and folklorico troupes will perform throughout the day.
  • “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” guests will find opportunities to enjoy fun arts and crafts, storytelling and face-painting, and they may also discover a selection of unique merchandise in the area.
  • Dining locations in Paradise Garden will add an array of popular Mexican food options for “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” Menus will feature Mexican dishes that are often served for the holidays, such as pozole (hearty stew), chicken mole drumettes, pescado (fish) Veracruzano, champurrado (Mexican-style hot chocolate), sweet tamales, torta al pastor (pork sandwich), buñuelos (deep-fried sweet treat), choco flan and, for the Three Kings Day celebration, Rosca deReyes bread..
  • The grand finale of “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” will be the special celebration of Three Kings Day (Dia de los Reyes) Jan. 3 through 6, 2014 in Paradise Garden.

“Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” adds a new twist to the traditional holiday entertainment at the Disneyland Resort. Guests also enjoy “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, nightly fireworks and snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland, along with holiday music, décor and characters in holiday attire throughout the resort. At Disney California Adventure, even Mater dons a red hat to meet guests inside the festively decorated Cars Land.

Also new this year, “World of Color - Winter Dreams” brings to life the spirit of the season in a wondrous, all-new nighttime presentation of this water spectacular. The show dazzles the senses with stirring holiday music, amazing special effects and special appearances by some of the most beloved Disney Characters, beginning Nov. 15 at Disney California Adventure.
