New Main Street Entrance/Exit to be Built in the Magic Kingdom

Hiya!! Yes I am back boys and girls! It is your favorite neighborhood gossip columnist Anonymouse. I have some gossip about a possible much needed addition to the Magic Kingdom.

I took a day off recently and went to the kingdom that is magical, you know the Magic Kingdom. I was shocked that Chippy gave me the day off, but I still managed to get some gossip. After all that is what I live for.

Anyway, I heard that there have been some big issues with crowding at the entry/exit on Main Street. So Disney wants to relieve some of the congestion so they might be making a bypass, which will go around the back of the buildings on the right side. They are supposed to start construction soon.

If you have been there during very crowded times you know that they will use this area as an exit but it is not themed and basically it’s just the back of the stores on Main Street. Now that is not very magical and rather plain. So I imagine they will give this area quite a magical upgrade.

Anywho that is all the Disney gossip I have right now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please mail me at [email protected] or on my Facebook page.

Randy Newman

Billboard & The Hollywood Reporter announced today that celebrated singer-songwriter and composer Randy Newman will make a rare appearance during a keynote Q&A at the 2013 Billboard & The Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Music Conference on Tuesday, October 29th at the W Hotel in Hollywood. He will be interviewed by his son, Amos Newman, head of Music for Visual Media at William Morris Endeavor. They will discuss music and film offering insights into Randy’s career and what the future holds for him.

Randy Newman, the composer of numerous unforgettable film scores, has created musical masterpieces widely recognized by generations of audiences. In addition to his solo recordings and regular international tours, Newman has scored and composed for dozens of films including Ragtime, The Natural, Seabiscuit, Awakenings, and a number of Disney-Pixar hits including the Toy Story trilogy, Monsters, Inc. and Cars. Randy Newman’s most recent work includes song and score for Disney-Pixar’s Monsters University, and Toy Story 3, for which he won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Throughout his musical career, Newman has garnered many accolades, including six Grammys, three Emmys, two Academy Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Amos Newman is head of the Music for Visual Media department at the William Morris Endeavor agency, which currently boasts a superb roster of composer clients including Hans Zimmer, Henry Jackman, Rupert Gregson-Williams, Mike Patton and Trent Reznor. The eldest son of Randy Newman, his experience spans nearly 25 years in records, music publishing, touring, marketing and music supervision, including the co-founding of Java Records where he signed and developed artists such as Katy Perry.

“Naturally, we’re thrilled that Randy Newman will speak at the conference as his unparalleled body of work is worthy of examination and discussion,” says Billboard senior correspondent Phil Gallo, who books the conference. “Pairing him with Amos offers a potential for a conversation you will not hear anywhere else. I look forward to a unique dialogue.”

The two-day conference, being held October 29 and 30, includes panels, Q&As and case studies with composers, music supervisors, artists and executives from across the film, television, advertising and music industries.

New Disneyland “Star Wars Land” Rumors

More Disneyland “Star Wars Land” Rumors are out this week. As always, we are on top of the latest rumor and are here to share it with you. As you may know Disneyland opened in 1955 which means that 2015 is Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary.

With such a major event like a 60th Anniversary Year, Disneyland Imagineers are busy planning new parades and fireworks shows to be included in the big event. On top of that they are going to have to figure out how to manage two gigantic construction projects, Monstropolis, which is likely to be in an abandoned corner of the park, which makes it easy to hide behind walls. However, Star Wars Land will more likely take over most of Tomorrowland.

Obviously the look of Tomorrowland will change and become home to more Star Wars appearance, moving most of the popular rides entrances and queues, such as Space Mountain. Additionally, it’s likely that the terrible location of the Astro Orbiter will be moved, and land somewhere near the Space Mountain area, perhaps even on the upper level near the planned Starcade.

Star Wars Land can’t possible exist without a few iconic Star Wars places, like a Landing Pad, and perhaps a famous cantina? The best thought is that Disneyland will remove the tired Tomorrowland Terrace dining area and create the very cool and very needed Tattooine Cantina. I hear this will be a rowdy and have an interactive concept.

What would a Star Wars Land be without a landing pad and spaceship? We can have just any old spaceship though, I imagine we will be seeing the Millennium Falcon, and will hopefully be a walk through attraction, perhaps even having a place for visitors to meet and interact with their favorite Chewbacca.

You may also get to visit Endor via the Speeder Bike ride that may take over Innoventions and most of Autopia. As you zoom by on your speeder, you’ll see an Ewok Village that you can walk through, after you get off your bike please, that will include dining and more shops.

As you know this is all speculation based on the latest rumors and information available to all of us. We’ll keep you posted on any new Disneyland developments.

Spending Only One Day At Walt Disney World

Spending a week or so at Walt Disney World is one of my favorite things to do; however, this isn’t always practical for everyone. Perhaps you’re in Florida for a work conference or visiting family nearby and just don’t have time for a week at Disney. Whatever the reason, a trip to Florida is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of your proximity to the Most Magical Place On Earth, even if it’s just for one day. So, if you find yourself in Orlando with only one day to spend at Disney, how can you really make the most of it?

If you’ve only got one day at Disney, chances are you’ll want to spend as much time as possible enjoying the magic. So find out what time the parks will be opening and get there early. You may also want to check Touring Plans for the expected crowd levels to help you decide which park to visit (if you’ll only be visiting one). If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom, as I did on my recent one day Disney trip, the monorails will be operating prior to park opening. This gives you the perfect chance to do a little resort hopping prior to park opening.

Rope Drop will take place at the Magic Kingdom about 15 minutes prior to park opening, so you’ll want to make sure you arrive in time to see the show. If you’re riding the monorail to Magic Kingdom before the show starts, you might even get to see the characters on the train waiting to travel to the Main Street Train Station. The show includes many Disney characters, talking Mickey, music, fireworks, and more. It’s really something to see!

Because there is so much to do at Magic Kingdom, my husband and I opted not to get park hopper tickets. But we still wanted to at least see Epcot and get some great photos of Spaceship Earth. So after Rope Drop, we boarded the monorail to Epcot. Did you know you can travel through Epcot without having a park ticket? The Epcot monorail actually travels through Future World and right around Spaceship Earth. It’s a quick trip through Epcot, but it’s definitely something fun to do if you don’t plan on park hopping.

When you enter the park you will be visiting, you will want to head towards some of the more popular attractions you’d like to experience. Most of these popular attractions will have shorter wait times early in the morning, so ride them first. Before you get in line for your first attraction, I recommend getting a Fastpass for another nearby popular attraction. If you have a smartphone, use an app such as My Disney Experience to see wait times without having to physically walk to the attractions. This will help you to better plan your day at the parks. Also, be sure to bring an extra cell phone battery or turn off unneccessary functions on your phone to make your phone’s battery last longer.

If you do plan on park hopping, make sure you have a plan. Take special events such as shows, parades, and fireworks into account when making your plan. You’ll also want to look at the dining options for each park before you go. Decide which restaurants you want to visit for each meal and plan your park hopping accordingly. Since you won’t have a full day in each park, be sure to take advantage of Fastpasses.

Spending just one day at Disney is a unique and fun experience. With a little bit of planning you can actually experience a lot of Walt Disney World your one day visit. While you’re enjoying your day at Disney, be sure not to rush around too much. Remember to slow down and enjoy the Disney magic around you!

Have you ever visited Disney for a one day trip? Let us know your experience in the comments below!

ABC Family’s annual “25 Days of Christmas,” cable’s biggest programming event of the year, will return with 25 continuous days of holiday-themed entertainment for the whole family. From December 1 – 25, viewers can ring in the holidays with original movies, holiday specials and returning favorites.

Desperate to get out of town and back to her “real” life, Mel takes a spill and wakes up in an alternate universe where she never left home and is married to Carter. Once determined to leave her small town life behind, Melody must make sense of her new life and decide if you truly can go home again.

Last week, Disney Parks officially replaced the Guest Assistance Card with the new Disability Access Service Card. Disney Parks have expressed “an unwavering commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment and accessible experiences for guests.” The goal of the new Disability Access Service Card is to better assist guests with disabilities while reducing the abuse that was unfortunately occurring.

Disney Parks has modified the Guest Assistance Card program, which provided access to attractions for Guests with disabilities, in an effort to continue to serve the guests who truly need it. The new program has been designed to provide the special experience that guests have come to expect from Disney while at the same time, trying to help control abuse that was, unfortunately, widespread and growing at an alarming rate.

The new Disability Access Service (DAS) Card replaced the Guest Assistance Card on October 9, 2013. You can request a Disability Access Service Card at Guest Relations at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California. DAS Cardholders will receive a return time for attractions based on the current wait time.

Disney Parks has long recognized and accommodated guests with varying needs. Guests can visit any Guest Relations location to discuss their individual situation, and Disney Parks will continue to provide assistance that is responsive to their unique circumstances.

ABC Family today announced the network has green-lit a second season of its hit original drama series, “The Fosters.” The order came as production continues on the first season of the series, which premieres new episodes in January, 2014!

“’The Fosters’ has demonstrated its ability to build an audience, and the creative team’s compelling storytelling assures us that there will be more growth in upcoming season,” said Kate Juergens, Chief Creative Officer and Executive Vice President, Programming, ABC Family. “The shows dynamic cast and groundbreaking storylines resonate with our core viewers and leave them wanting more.”

“The Fosters” ranked as the #1 new cable TV series of the summer in Viewers 12-34 and Females 12-34, gaining momentum each week heading into the season finale, which set series highs in Total Viewers and across target 18-34, 18-49 and 12-34 demos. Of all current ABC Family original series, “The Fosters” is the network’s #2 series in target demos, behind only “Pretty Little Liars.”
“The Fosters” is a one-hour drama about a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms. Stef Foster, a dedicated police officer, and her partner Lena Adams Foster, a school Vice Principal, have built a close-knit, loving family with Stef’s biological son from a preview marriage, Brandon, and their adopted twins Mariana and Jesus. Their lives are disrupted in unexpected ways when Lena meets Callie, a guarded teen with an abusive past who has spent her life in and out of foster homes. Lena and Stef warily welcome Callie and her younger brother Jude in their home, hoping to provide them with the guidance and nurturing they so desperately need.
Over time, Callie and Jude open up about losing their parents and the hardships they suffered while in previous foster homes. Callie grows especially close to Brandon, but their mutual attraction causes jealousy and concern since foster children are not allowed to have intimate relationships in the same household. When Callie finally gives in to those feelings, she jeopardizes Stef and Lena’s offer to make her and Jude a permanent part of the family. Not wanting to ruin Jude’s chances of finally finding a stable, loving home, Callie runs away.

Winner of 2013’s Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Breakout Show, “The Fosters” is executive-produced by Jennifer Lopez.

How exciting even before the season 1b premiere! I love this show so I’m so happy and elated!

Stay tuned for more The Fosters!

Zendaya, whom you may know from Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up,” rode down Main Street U.S.A., Thursday, in Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida as Grand Marshal of the “Celebrate A Dream Come True” Parade. Zendaya was joined by three of 68 children known as the 2013 Champions of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Riding with Zendaya:

• Saray Gonzales, 13, from New Mexico is in remission after six rounds of chemotherapy and 30 days of radiation for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

• Victoria Reed, 9, from Vermont, underwent ten surgeries and speech therapy for a cleft lip and palate, a defect that affects one in 600 children.

• Cody Trembecki, 11, from Calgary, Alberta, weighed just over a pound at birth and couldn’t breathe on his own. Cody endured five years with a tracheostomy and two surgeries to build a windpipe from cartilage and bone grafts.

The Children’s Miracle Network is a charity that raises funds and awareness for 170 pediatric centers. This week, the Champions and their families are meeting at Walt Disney World for CMN Hospitals’ 30th anniversary Celebration event, hosted by co-founders Marie Osmond and John Schneider. Sixty-eight children from the U.S. and Canada are spending a week in Florida and Washington DC, telling media, lawmakers and some of the largest North American companies how local donations changed their lives thanks to a children’s hospital.

The Walt Disney Company has been a partner with the Children’s Miracle Network for over 25 years, dating back to 1987, when the network’s telethon was broadcast from the Videopolis stage at Disneyland.

Pixar Canada Closes

Pixar-canada

Disney has decided to shut down Pixar Canada in Vancouver, Canada. This has eliminated about 100 jobs.

Disney spokesperson Barb Matheson said “A decision was made to refocus operations and resources under the one roof, Staff were just told today. Not great news, obviously.”

Disney originally went to Vancouver by tax incentives, and this closure is because of British Columbia incentives were not as good as those being offered by Ontario and Quebec.

It is a possibility the magical mouse house might look at Ontario or Quebec as new spots for a Canadian studio. However a Pixar spokesman dis not want to comment on that possibility and released the following statement: “The team at Pixar Canada is incredibly talented and we are so proud of the excellent work we have produced there. However, as we look at the creative and business needs of our studio, we’ve made the decision to refocus our efforts and resources under one roof in Emeryville and will be closing the studio in Vancouver.

Pixar Canada has produced several shorts for the studio, including “Air Mater,” “Small Fry” and “Partysaurus Rex” since 2010. Operations there will shut down immediately.

Disney Quick Tip – Bring Snacks With You To The Parks

Today’s Disney Quick Tip is about bringing snacks with you to the Parks.  Whether you are looking for another way to save money at Disney or have a family member with finicky taste buds, you can bring snacks with you to the Parks.

Walt Disney World permits guests to bring food items and snacks in that do not require warming and are not in glass containers (baby bottles and baby food jars excluded). Coolers or backpacks that you are using to bring snacks in must be no larger than 24″ long, 18″ high, and 15″ wide.

My family brought the following items into the parks with us over prior trips:

  • granola bars
  • fruit bars
  • chips
  • crackers
  • cookies
  • nuts
  • dry cereal
  • dried fruit
  • popcorn

We still end up purchasing a few snacks along the way like popcorn, a churro, or a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar, but supplementing with “outside” snacks helps keep our costs down.  We also don’t use our snack money on drinks because we ask for a free cup of ice water at any WDW counter service location. If you don’t like the water taste, pack a few Crystal Light or other drink flavoring packets to add in the water.

What snack options did we miss?  What snacks has your family brought into the Parks? We would love to hear your ideas!
