Top 5 Downtown Disney Shops at Disneyland Resort

Just like Walt Disney World in Florida, the Disneyland Resort offers an expansive shopping experience with its Downtown Disney District. Among the several stores, some are extra special. In no particular order, the following stores are my personal  favorite five stores to shop at.

downtown-disney-gallery15

Studio Disney 365 –

Studio Disney 365 is an exclusive to Disneyland Resort apparel and accessories store catering to children and tweens. Unlike Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique that focuses on Disney Princesses, this store focuses on popular Disney shows and characters. I have mentioned this store several times in my past articles because it is my oldest daughter’s absolute favorite place in Downtown Disney for its popular “rock star” makeovers. The price is comparative to Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, but the outfit your child receives can be worn far more often. This store isn’t exclusive to girls. There is a wide selection of clothes for boys as well.

WonderGround Gallery –

Another store exclusive to Disneyland Resort, WonderGround is a gallery filled with Disney inspired art by some of today’s most well-known artists. Featured artists are always changing and revolving in WounderGround, so with each Downtown Disney trip, you often see new artists and pieces. During our last visit, we were excited to see that J. Scott Campbell was the featured artist, and we were able to pick up the following piece from his Good vs Evil collection. No visit of ours is complete without spending a ton of money at a visit to this store.

Disney Vault 28-

Are you a Disney Dooney & Burke junkie like I am? Disney Vault 28 is where you can find these popular bags in addition to other Disney inspired fashion and accessories by designer labels including Harvey’s and Betsy Johnson.

Disney’s Pin Traders –

If you collect Disney pins, this large kiosk has one of the largest selections on the resort, and you don’t have to go into a separate store to get to them. It’s also right next to the Downtown monorail station, so it’s super easy to access should you want to make a quick stop while you’re enjoying your day at the parks.

World of Disney –

With many Disney Stores across the country closing shop, for most people, this is the best one-stop-shop for all of your Disney shopping. The store, itself is darn near the same size as the Target down the street. World of Disney carries everything from toys to clothes to art to housewares, and so on.

There are plenty of other stores in Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort, what are your favorites? Do you agree with my choices? Let me know!

Last weekend I Rocked my Disney Side at the Magic Kingdom for the 24 hour event in Walt Disney World. Both Disneyland and Disney World stay open for 24 hours from 6am Friday to 6am Saturday. This years theme was the Disney Villains and I was surprised at all the characters you never see anymore make an appearance.

I would have to say the highlight of the night was the opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. I got to ride it at least 3 times and even found out where some hidden Mickey’s can be found.

Here is a fun video of Chip (me) rocking my Disney Side in my Mad Hatter outfit.

Instead of going picture by picture from all the fun characters and events from the 24 Hour event I am going to put them in a gallery for you to enjoy.

addict

Chances are that if you are like myself and the other writers here at Chip and Co., you are a Disney Addict. We have yet to find a cure, but the symptoms of this condition are rather obvious. Most likely your own friends and family have pointed them out to you or questioned your sanity a time or two. If you missed Part 1 of 2 click here to see the initial symptoms of this addiction.

Here are more ways to know if you’re a Disney Addict…

1. You can navigate the Disney parks better than you can your own hometown.

2. You are known to randomly break into a Disney song without warning.

3. Visits to other theme parks are just disappointing. Sorry Universal 😉

4. The only Spanish you know is “Por Favor Mantenganse Alejado de las Puertas.”

5. You go to the movies to a see a Disney movie…without kids.

6. You listen to a Disney soundtrack on a regular basis.

7. You need another Christmas tree just for your Disney ornaments.

8. All of your past Christmas cards were taken by a PhotoPass photographer.

9. Your backup plan in life is to become a Jungle Cruise Captain.

10. “You know a man with a wooden leg named Smith!”

Have you shown any of these symptoms? If so, you are probably a Disney Addict so be sure to comment below and share with others who share your condition.

The Dole Whip Make it’s Disney Dining Debut at Animal Kingdom

AK

Great news Dole Whip fans, soon this yummy little frozen cup full of goodness will be at Animal Kingdom. Tamu Tamu Refreshments will be serving this little cups of heaven starting this weekend. Awesome right?

If you are of legal drinking age, you can choose to add a little extra magic to your Dole Whip by adding some Dark Rum or Coconut Rum. Hmmm hard choice, I think I will go with Dark Rum. One thing I should add is that there will be no Dole Whip Floats at this location.

A regular Dole Whip will cost you $4.04 and a spiked Dole Whip will cost you $6.09. The non alcoholic Dole Whip will be a snack credit on the Dining Plan.

There aren’t many location where you can get a Dole Whip, so I am glad to see they are putting it in other locations.

Don’t forget later on this year you will be able to the Dole Whip at the Pineapple Lanai kiosk at the newly redesigned Polynesian.

What do you think?

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

Hiya fellow addicts. I am sure you are still recovering from the 24 hour event. Well, Chiperoo had me slaving away at my laptop while he was at Disney enjoying the festivities. So here is some of the latest gossip that I have for you. If you have kids, or maybe if you don’t, you probably have heard of Kidz Bop. It is a series of popular songs sung by kids, hence the name Kidz Bop. according to sources. my inside sources tell me that The Walt Disney Co. is among those who have made offers to buy the franchise.

A little back ground about the brand. They released the 25th volume of its basic series on Jan. 14 of this year; it has sold 273,000 copies so far. Kidz Bop does fairly well they have made 14.6 million in U.S. album sales. However there is more to Kidz Bop than just re-made songs, they also have an annual Kidz Bop tour, a book series, a radio show on SiriusXM and a video game. Who knew?

The sellers and founders are Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam.  They are looking for $16.5 million to $19.3 million. I will go write them a check immediately.

Anywho, that is all the Disney gossip I have right now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at [email protected] or on my facebook page.

Disney XD’s Mighty Med Renewed for a Second Season!

The-Mighty-Med

Disney XD has ordered a second season of its popular live-action superhero comedy series “Mighty Med,” it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. Production will resume in Los Angeles in July for a fall 2014 premiere while new episodes continue to rollout. For the October 2013 launch, “Mighty Med” ranked as the #1 telecast in its time period across target boy demos, and to date is a top performer for the network in Total Viewers and all key demos.

Created by executive producer Jim Bernstein (“Phineas and Ferb”) and co-executive producer Andy Schwartz (“Scrubs”) and executive-produced by Stephen Engel (“The Big Bang Theory”), the series stars Bradley Steven Perry (“Good Luck Charlie”) as Kaz, Jake Short (“A.N.T. Farm”) as Oliver, Paris Berelc as Skylar Storm, Devan Leos as Alan and Augie Isaac as Gus.

Bonnett said, “The show’s clever take on the popular superhero genre has made this show a hit with Disney XD viewers. Our fans have embraced the show and its talented cast, and we look forward to delivering more action-packed and comical adventures in season two.”

“Mighty Med” chronicles the after-school adventures of teenage best friends Kaz and Oliver, who land dream jobs at a secret hospital for superheroes, sci-fi and fantasy characters. Without powers of their own, these two seemingly ordinary boys realize that the power of friendship gives them the ability to become heroes themselves and save the people who save people.

Stay tuned for more Mighty Med!

A New Spot to Watch Wishes at Walt Disney World

wishes

If you’ve never seen Wishes at the Magic Kingdom before, I do recommend watching them from Main Street to gain the full experience of the spectacular show. I’d like to share this tip to those who have seen the show and may not want to deal with the incredible crowd that forms for Wishes. Head behind the castle!

The majority of the bursts, at least all the huge ones are behind and perfectly visible from Fantasyland. The smaller bursts that form straight lines take off directly next to each side of the castle. If you stand by the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel you can turn around several times to view both or, what we like to do, take a seat by the Friar’s Nook and just watch the big part of the show. One very cool thing about being in the back is how loud and huge the bursts are, which some children are scared of.

Another big bonus of hanging out behind the castle for Wishes? As soon as it’s over you can literally walk on to most of the Fantasyland rides! The other night, there were zero people in line when we walked over to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh after the fireworks!

Now that I’m an annual passholder, I take the parks at a more leisurely pace and I am always looking to find little ways to avoid crowds. This is a great tip for people like me or those on vacation who like to avoid some of the crowds, too!

Another great place for a less crowded view, the beach at the Polynesian!

Where is your favorite place to watch Wishes? Let me know in the comment box below.

Top 10 Disney Dining Sweet Snacks at Disneyland

desserts main pic
desserts main pic

After trekking the parks at Disneyland Resort all day, nothing hits the spot like the spoonfuls of sugar in Disney sweet treats and desserts. Here are my personal top 10 best Disney Dining desserts/sweets in the Disneyland resort.

desserts main pic

10. Tigger Tails: These delicious treats can be found in Pooh’s Corner in Critter Country. It’s a skewer of marshmallows, covered in caramel and chocolate. We only recently discovered this dessert during our last trip because we typically try to avoid the gift shops at all cost. One bite and I was kicking myself for not wondering into that shop earlier.

9. Character Caramel Apples: There is a bit of a debate over whether Disneyland Park or Downtown Disney’s Marceline’s Confectionery has the better caramel/candy apples. I tend to favor Disneyland Park, specifically the Caramel Apple Bar at Candy Palace on Main Street. They’re almost too cute to eat…almost.

8. Churro Bites: This is the first sweet entry from the Cozy Cone at DCA. Churros are heavenly by themselves. Now try one cut up with chocolate sauce. Yeah, it’s pretty scrumptious.

7. Fantasmic Dessert Tray: You are given this tray of assorted desserts when you pay for Fantasmic premium viewing. We loved everything in it, except the cheese. However, our oldest daughter loves cheese, so we saved it in our hotel refrigerator as snacks for later. Also served is your drink of choice. For me, fresh coffee made the tray even better.

6. Chef Cookie’s Deep Dish: We absolutely LOVE Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. It has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in the whole park. What tops their spectacular dinner off is their Chef Cookie’s Deep Dish for dessert. It’s a hot chocolate chip cookie dish with ice cream and hot fudge on top. It’s huge, so our family usually splits it.

5. Vodka & Pomegranate Limeade: This is the second entry from Cozy Cone. I know this is a drink, but it’s this mom’s favorite “treat” in DCA. Make it even better and order it with their dill pickle flavored popcorn.

4.  Earthquake Sunday: This is Disneyland Resort’s version of Walt Disney World’s Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream. This enormous sunday can be found at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop in the Pacific Warf area in DCA. It consists of Eight scoops of ice cream, eight toppings, fresh bananas, whipped cream, chopped almonds, chocolate sauce, and cherries. Our family of 4 splits one every trip and we always come out in a sugar coma.

3. Dole Whip Float: It’s an oldie but goodie. Nothing beats eating/drinking a Dole Whip Float while sitting in the Enchanted Tiki Room on a hot day.

2. Jazz Kitchen Beignets: There are three places to get beignets at Disneyland Resort: Café Orleans, the Mint Julip Bar, and Jazz Kitchen Express. While the two places in Disneyland park offer Mickey beignets, our preference is Jazz Kitchen Express. One, they’re bigger; two, they’re always fresh; and third, we walk past it each night of our vacation on our way back to the Disneyland Hotel (always our hotel of choice). It’s a nice way to end your day.

1. Matterhorn Maccaroon: This dessert has been my favorite treat for many years. They are delicious cakes topped with white chocolate and coconut shavings creating a striking resemblance of its namesake. No trip of mine is complete without getting one of these delicious treats.
