Construction Finished for Fairy Godmother Meet and Greet at Magic Kingdom

Construction Wraps on Fairy Godmother Meet and Greet Space at Magic Kingdom

A little extra Bibbidi Bobbidi magic has officially settled into place at Magic Kingdom. Construction is now complete on the updated Fairy Godmother meet and greet space tucked inside Sir Mickey’s, and it looks like this enchanting experience may be sticking around for the long haul.

The project first popped onto the radar earlier this year thanks to a permit calling for a 6-foot-high wall installation inside the shop. That work has now wrapped, replacing the temporary curtain setup that previously hid the meet and greet area from view.

This space transformation ties directly into the evolving experience at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where young guests ages 3 to 12 are treated to full royal makeovers. As part of that experience, select guests may get a surprise visit from Fairy Godmother herself, turning the moment into a full-on fairytale finale.

Previously, the meet and greet area was simply curtained off, with a Cast Member guarding the entrance and only allowing freshly transformed princes and princesses inside. Now, the newly installed wall creates a more defined, semi-permanent space, offering a bit more privacy and immersion without fully closing off the area.

The location itself was once home to a Disney PhotoPass Royal Portrait Studio, but it has been reimagined into something a little more storybook personal. Instead of a standard photo op, this setup feels like a secret royal receiving room where the Fairy Godmother can pop in throughout the day to greet her newest protégés.

Interestingly, this setup mirrors a similar concept recently introduced at EPCOT for a limited-time Annual Passholder meet and greet, where themed walls were also used to create a semi-private character space. However, the Magic Kingdom version feels far more permanent, hinting that Disney intends to keep this magical meet and greet as a core part of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience moving forward.

For families planning a visit, this adds an extra sprinkle of pixie dust to an already popular offering. It is not just about the transformation anymore, it is about the moment after, when the story continues and a certain wand-waving mentor might just stop by to check on her handiwork.

Cranes Disappear from Cinderella Castle as Repainting Nears Completion at Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom’s skyline just got a little more storybook-perfect. The cranes that have been towering over Cinderella Castle during its latest repainting project have officially disappeared, signaling that work on the park’s iconic centerpiece may be wrapping up.

Cranes Removed from Cinderella Castle as Repainting Project Nears Completion

For the past several weeks, cranes were stationed inside the drained moat surrounding the castle, giving crews access to the upper towers and walls. As of this week, those cranes are gone, clearing the view and restoring that classic Magic Kingdom silhouette guests know and love. The moat itself, however, is still drained, with scaffolding and scrim-covered materials lingering as potential final touches continue.

This repainting project has quietly transformed Cinderella Castle’s color palette once again. The vibrant 50th anniversary pink has been toned down to a softer, more classic pale gray, while the royal blue rooftops have been refreshed with a brighter, more vivid shade. The result feels like a return to the castle’s original storybook roots, with a subtle modern polish layered on top.

Interestingly, not every part of the castle has been reverted. The lower half remains a darker gray tone introduced during the 50th anniversary celebration, and some of the extra gold detailing added for the celebration is still shimmering in the Florida sunshine. It creates a bit of a blended look, part nostalgic throwback, part golden-era glow.

Disney also took advantage of the drained moat to tackle nearby projects, including repainting the rocky entrance structures in Tomorrowland, making this refurbishment feel like a two-for-one makeover moment.

While the removal of the cranes is a strong hint that the major work is complete, the presence of equipment in the moat suggests a few finishing touches may still be underway. Guests visiting in the coming days may even get to see the moat refilled, marking the final chapter of this castle glow-up.

For now, Cinderella Castle is standing tall, freshly refreshed, and ready for its next close-up as the heart of Magic Kingdom. Whether you loved the bold 50th anniversary look or prefer this more classic fairytale style, one thing is certain, the castle is once again camera-ready from every angle.

Construction Walls Return to Transportation and Ticket Center at Walt Disney World

If your Magic Kingdom day starts at the Transportation and Ticket Center, you may want to pack a little extra patience along with your park bag. Construction walls have made a return to the TTC, once again reshaping the arrival experience for guests heading toward the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Classic Pavement and Railings Being Replaced at the Transportation and Ticket Center

The Transportation and Ticket Center serves as the main gateway for Magic Kingdom parking, where guests hop aboard the monorail or ferryboat after arriving. It is also one of the few places on property where tickets can still be purchased in person, though that option has taken a bit of a hit with the latest construction setup.

Crews have installed construction walls around approximately eight ticket booth stations, blocking both sides of the area. This same section saw work last summer tied to pavement updates, which wrapped up around November. Now, with the walls back in place, it appears Disney may be turning its attention to refurbishing the ticket booths themselves.

Classic Pavement and Railings Being Replaced at the Transportation and Ticket Center

In today’s digital-first park planning world, many of these booths sit quiet most days anyway, as guests increasingly purchase tickets online ahead of their visit. Still, the blocked-off space is noticeable, especially during peak arrival times when every available lane can help keep things moving smoothly.

This is just the latest chapter in the ongoing evolution of the Transportation and Ticket Center, which underwent a broader refresh from 2021 through 2023 that introduced a new color scheme, updated signage, and a more modern look overall. Think of this as a possible finishing touch or maybe just another layer in Disney’s never-ending refurbishment rhythm.

For now, guests traveling through the TTC should expect some visual clutter and slight adjustments to foot traffic patterns, but operations are still running as usual. The monorails are gliding, the ferryboats are sailing, and Magic Kingdom is still just a short ride away even if your path there zigzags a bit more than usual.

Magic Kingdom Debuts Updated Guidemap as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Rides Again

Magic Kingdom has a fresh guide map in circulation, and this one is riding in with a little extra Frontierland thunder. The updated May 2026 Magic Kingdom map arrived alongside the reopening of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, giving guests a new paper park companion just in time for the beloved runaway mine train’s return.

The new cover keeps things bright and bubbly, featuring a smiling young guest wearing pink sequined Minnie ears, surrounded by bubbles, iridescent balloons, and Disney character balloons. It replaces the previous guidemap cover, which highlighted Mirabel aboard the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away parade float.

Inside, the first fold still features the “Fantasy Reigns” section with familiar highlights including Disney Starlight, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, TRON Lightcycle Run, Happily Ever After, Emporium, Liberty Tree Tavern, and My Disney Experience. So while the royal roadmap has not received a full pixie-dusted overhaul, there are a few notable updates sprinkled in.

The big change, naturally, is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. With the attraction now reopened at Magic Kingdom, the guidemap gives the Frontierland favorite a bold purple “REFRESHED!” label ahead of its name. The attraction description itself remains the same, but that little splash of purple lets guests know the wildest ride in the wilderness is back on track.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin also gets a bit of guidemap glow-up treatment following its April 8 reopening. The Tomorrowland attraction now has a bold purple “RECHARGED!” label in front of its name. Astro Fizz, the Tomorrowland snack kiosk, still carries its “NEW!” tag, though that label is now purple as well.

Magic Kingdom Releases Updated Park Map Following Big Thunder Mountain Reopening

The actual artwork for Frontierland and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad remains unchanged from the previous map, so guests will not find a newly redrawn mountain scene. The back panels also remain largely the same, with park rules, payment options, Disney Vacation Club advertising, recycling reminders, guest services information, and transportation details.

Still, for fans who collect park maps or just love seeing those little operational breadcrumbs, this new Magic Kingdom guidemap marks a fun paper-trail moment for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad’s return. The mountain is rumbling again, Buzz is recharged, and Magic Kingdom’s latest map is ready to guide guests through another day of happily ever afters and runaway mine trains.

The brief teaser, originally shared via the Disney Parks Instagram account, showcases the footage guests will view just before stepping into the Millennium Falcon’s cockpit. This new briefing is expected to take the place of Hondo Ohnaka’s classic instructions to secure coaxium (and a hefty profit) for Ohnaka Transport Solutions.

In the new briefing, Din Djarin contacts crews directly from the cockpit of the Razor Crest to outline their upcoming objectives. The transmission concludes with a signature appearance by Grogu, who pops up to wave at the new recruits. Here is the full transcription of the Mandalorian’s mission orders:

Listen up, crew. Our bounties are two Imperial officers and a pirate. Our goal is to capture them and collect any crates they’re transporting. Thanks to Hondo’s intel, we know they’re on Tatooine. Grogu and I will meet you there.

Originally announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024, this new mission is scheduled to debut at both Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 22. The launch coincides perfectly with the theatrical premiere of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. In addition to the mission briefing, fans have recently been treated to a look at the new attraction poster and a preview of the fresh musical score composed for the ride.

Fire Reported at Big Thunder Mountain During the Attraction’s Reopening

A fire occurred at Big Thunder Mountain on May 3 just as the attraction officially returned to service at Magic Kingdom. Fortunately, everyone remained safe and no injuries were reported.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., the day took an unexpected turn when flames were spotted in the loading area. Operations were halted as a cast member stepped in to extinguish the fire, ending the ride’s first eight hours of reopening.

Though the exact cause is still being verified, reports suggest the fire may have started on the track or one of the vehicles. It is also unknown if any visitors were in the immediate vicinity or on the ride during the incident.

Following a closure that lasted several hours, the attraction was eventually cleared to reopen to guests at 10:20 p.m.

The attraction recently returned from a massive year-long refurbishment that introduced an updated opening scene, featuring a stunning transformation of the Rainbow Caverns.

Beyond the aesthetic upgrades, the ride underwent a complete overhaul with a total track replacement and the introduction of brand-new trains. Fans will also notice refreshed Audio-Animatronics, new gold props, and the long-awaited restoration of several classic effects that had been inoperable for years.

Following these comprehensive improvements and a rigorous safety review, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has officially lowered its height requirement. Adventurers only need to be 38″ tall to ride, down from the previous 40″ requirement.

The ears themselves are a total texture dream. They’ve gone with a padded light yellow mesh base, but the real magic is the tiny yellow sequins stitched all over. They catch the light beautifully, giving you that subtle shimmer while you’re strolling down Main Street, U.S.A. without being blindingly sparkly. Whether you’re heading to a character brunch or just want to match the vibes of a Dole Whip, these ears fit the bill perfectly.

Butter Yellow Ear Headband

Right in the center, you’ve got a bow that keeps things light and airy. It’s made of a sheer, pale yellow fabric featuring a delicate, tight diamond-weave pattern. It gives the headband a slightly elevated, soft look that balances out the glitz of the sequins. It’s a nice departure from the heavy satin bows we usually see, making the whole accessory feel a bit more springtime chic.

Disney didn’t slack on the details, either. The sequined mesh carries over to the back of the ears and down the sides of the headband, so you look great from every angle. Comfort is also a huge win here; the inside of the headband is lined with a yellow non-slip velour. That means they’ll actually stay put while you’re rushing to your Lightning Lane or leaning in for a photo. If you’re in the parks, keep an eye out, these are definitely the it accessory for the season!

First up, for those who prefer the high life on Naboo, we have the Padmé Amidala Ear Headband. Priced at $49.99, these are pure elegance. Padmé was never one to shy away from a look, and these ears live up to her legacy. They feature stunning faceted gems and the iconic royal crest of Naboo right in the center. They’re the perfect diplomatic mission accessory, adding a bit of eye-catching sparkle to your outfit while keeping things totally regal. If you’re heading to the Parks and want to turn heads like a galactic senator, these are a total no-brainer.

On the flip side, if you’re feeling a little more Duel of the Fates, you’ve got to check out the Darth Maul Ear Headband. Clocking in at $44.99, these ears are sleek, edgy, and undeniably cool. BaubleBar went all out with the simulated leather, recreating Maul’s signature red and black facial markings with tiny, shimmering rhinestones. Even the black velvet bow is decked out in red stones for that extra Dark Side detail. It’s the ultimate way to show your love for the Sith Lord without having to commit to the whole red-skin-and-horns vibe.

These are exclusive to the Disney Store, so if you want to snag a pair before your next trip to Galaxy’s Edge, don’t wait too long, they tend to vanish faster than a Jedi in a cloak.

Whether you’re leaning toward the Light or the Dark, both pairs offer that premium BaubleBar finish that makes them feel more like jewelry than just a souvenir. Which side are you choosing for your next park hop?
