Use a Little Magic to Stay Dry with Stunning Disney Umbrellas

Disney Umbrella

Disney Umbrella

Spring is almost here, but that means rainy weather on the horizon, so a new umbrella is something I always start to look for about this time of year. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled on these beauties from KortneySunshine on Etsy!

I love a big bubble umbrella, they help protect from side rain, and don’t flip inside out as easily as a standard umbrella. It’s hard to find a cute, especially a cute Disney themed one though. These are a fabulous solution to my plain umbrella problems. These hand painted umbrellas are sturdy, weather resistant, and you can even get them personalized! Check out their options below.

Which of these darling character umbrellas would you want to keep you dry?

6 Reasons Why Adults Will LOVE Disney World As Much As The Kids

023
023

Germany Epcot

There’s no denying that Walt Disney World is a true kid’s paradise – kids beg and plead to go there, and with good reason – the characters, rides, shows – it’s a magical experience for the little ones. But, believe it or not – there’s a TON of stuff that the grown-ups will love too – don’t believe me? Then read on to learn about the Disney Magic For Adults:

The FOOD: Most people think “theme park food” and things like chicken nuggets, hamburgers, and all things deep fried come to mind – and if that’s your thing, WDW has you covered – but if you’re looking for something a bit more palette stimulating – you’re totally in luck. Disney World offers TONS of amazing restaurants – all different kinds of cuisine, and even some fine dining and 5 star restaurants too – Japanese, Moroccan, Italian, New American – plus many, many more. You won’t leave hungry – trust me

Quench Your Thirst: There may be sodas and juice boxes around every corner, but if you look just a teeny bit harder, you’ll find a wide selection of more “adult” beverages too! Most restaurants serve beer and wine, and many have an extensive list and offer advice on pairings as well. Specialty cocktails are on many menus too, and you can even “drink around the world” at Epcot and try different, exotic drinks from each country. No matter how much of a spirits aficionado you might be, you will surely find something new and different to try at Disney

Nightlife: A dueling piano bar on a real old school boardwalk, night clubs, live music, a bowling alley, a movie theater, an exclusive Cirque Du Soleil show, bars and restaurants galore – it all adds up to an amazing night out – and it’s all located on Disney property, so no worries about driving or needing to call a cab if you’re staying at a WDW Resort (which I HIGHLY recommend – for MANY reasons), as you have access to a whole network of WDW boats, buses, and monorails to get you from place to place – so feel free to get out there and explore it all!

Shop It Out: Your credit card can get a heck of a workout at Walt Disney World – as there are plenty of stores for you to browse. There are your typical souvenir shops with stuffed animals, t shirts, Mickey ear hats, etc – but there’s a lot of places that offer much more than that: fine jewelry, purses/bags/luggage, clothes and accessories, kitchenware, art, stationary – there’s something for everyone, and if you love to shop till you drop, then Disney World is the perfect place for you!

Relax In The Lap Of Luxury: I mentioned how great staying at a WDW Resort is – and one of the great things about it is the sheer volume of choices you have when it comes to places to stay. There are some truly world class resorts on the list too – the Disney Deluxe Resorts offer the largest, most sumptuous rooms and the most amenities too – room service, concierge level service, multiple restaurants and shopping options, plus they are the closest to the WDW Parks too. If catching some zzz’s in a gorgeous hotel room or suite doesn’t relax you, then you can check out WDW’s spas – where massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and more are available in a beautifully tranquil setting

Get Your Sport On: If you’re one of those crazy people (like me!) who like to workout while on vacation, then you’ll be good to go at WDW – between the Resorts that offer gyms, plus all the walking/running trails and places to rent bikes/paddleboats/canoes – you’ll surely find something to get your heart rate pumping! You can also go waterskiing or parasailing, learn to surf, rent a boat, go horseback riding, or check out one of Disney’s golf courses

Walt Disney World is a great place for those of ALL ages – and adults especially will be pleased to find all that the Parks and Resorts have to offer – there truly is something that everyone will enjoy!

“Alice Through the Looking Glass” New TV Spot

It seems that the folks over in Wonderland are feeling the pain of “spring forward” and Daylight savings time, just like we are! You can get a further sneak peek in this new “Alice Through the Looking Glass” TV spot that was released yesterday:

In just a little over a couple months, we get to see the sequel to Disney’s 2010 “Alice in Wonderland” live action movie! “Alice Through the Looking Glass” is coming to theatres May 27th, starring Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter. However, director Tim Burton who gave the 2010 live action movie a very unique look with a very Burton-esque did not return to direct the sequel, instead James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) is directing “Alice Through the Looking Glass.”

I’m very excited to see the main cast members returning, including the late Alan Rickman, as well as some new additions! It is sure to be another adventure in wonderland. You can check out the full, latest trailer below:

Planet Hollywood Orlando in Disney Springs plans to reopen its doors in summer 2016 with a brand new look and theme.  The extraordinary architecture of the building will transform the restaurant into a 20th century observatory.  The popular chain is offering a glimpse into what guests can expect next time they step foot inside the newly re-imagined flagship restaurant.

Some of the rarest television and Hollywood memorabilia will still be displayed but the restaurant will now feature a 40,000 square foot wall that plays state of the art sound and videos.  There will also be live entertainment on the outdoor Stargazers bar and patio as well as an interactive DJ that spins Top 40 and classic favorites nightly.

Second touch point for Magic Bands being removed from some Walt Disney World attractions

If you’ve ever used a FastPass+ to enter any ride at Walt Disney World, then you’ve noticed that you need to touch your band to the Mickey at the entrance of the FastPass+ line, as well as somewhere along the inside of the line as well, as you get closer to the ride. This point is usually at the spot where the Stand-by and FastPass+ lines merge, and is used as a way of preventing or “catching” guests who try to sneak their way into the FastPass+ line without an actual FastPass+.

According to WDWMagic.com, it appears that some rides will be eliminating the second touch-point, hopefully making the FastPass+ line even speedier and smoother for guests now. Have you ever really thought that the second touchpoint was holding you up?

10 Ideas for Disney World Departure Days

Last Days at Disney
Last Days at Disney

Last Days at Disney

You want to know the absolute worst part about visiting Disney? At some point, you have to go home. I know, it’s the worst feeling ever! During my most recent trip to Disney, I actually cried a little as the plane for taking off because I didn’t want to leave. But alas, Disney departure days are inevitable, so let’s make the best of them! Here are 10 ideas for your Disney departure day.

Character Dining: There is something so quintessentially Disney about character dining. Whether you go for the atmosphere, character interactions, or the food – you will not be disappointed. I really like to book a character dining experience for my last day at Disney. I find that it is a great way to wrap up the trip and really reflect on the vacation. Having a sit-down meal is a great way to check in with the other members of your party and talk about favorite moments. On my last trip to Disney, we had breakfast at Crystal Palace and it ended up being one of the highlights of the whole trip.

Meet Your Favorite Character: Disney vacations have a tendency to fly by, so make sure to carve out some time on your last day to meet your favorite character if you haven’t already. I always like to stop and say “see ya real soon” to the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse.

Disney Springs: If you aren’t planning on heading to the parks for your last day, definitely consider checking out Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney). First, it’s free! You don’t have to worry about one more day of ticket expenses. Second, you can pick up all your last minute souvenirs at World of Disney and the other boutique shops. Third, grab some great grub. Disney Springs is filled with amazing restaurants that will satisfy even the pickiest eaters.

La Nouba: If you are looking for a unique experience that is not available anywhere else, consider checking out Cirque de Soleil’s La Nouba at Disney Springs.

“Witness this international cast as they perform glorious feats of incredible strength and breathtaking beauty. The French phrase “la nouba” literally translates to “the party.” And do these performers ever know how to celebrate! Acrobats, singers, trapeze artists, jugglers and clowns—more than 65 artists representing 15 countries—delight and mystify with daring acts of grace. A riot of color washes over every scene with the imaginative costumes, quixotic makeup and dynamic sets.”disneyworld.disney.go.com

Showtimes are available for 6:00pm and 9:00pm. This is great if you have a very late flight, or a very early flight the next morning.

Spa Treatment: Real talk, walking around Disney for multiple days in a row is hard work! I know that my legs are killing me by the end of my trip. If you are looking for a relaxing way to spend your last day at Disney, consider booking a spa treatment. Wouldn’t it be great to head back to the real world completely relaxed and rejuvenated?

Pool Time: If a spa treatment isn’t in your budget (I know it’s not in mine!), you can still relax on your last day by spending some time at your resort’s pool. Take a swim, lay in the sun, or just cool off in the shallow end. Hanging out by the pool is a low-key way to wrap up your Disney experience. Just remember to pack some Ziploc bags for the wet swimsuits!

Hotel Hop: If you are anything like me (or the millions of other Disney guests), you spend most of your vacation running around the parks all day, everyday. If you aren’t at the parks, you are probably at your resort. On your last day at Disney, take some time and visit some of Disney’s other resorts. This a fun and free way to check out different areas of Disney, and a great way to start dreaming of your next vacation!

Boardwalk: Along the same vein as resort hopping, I like to take a few hours to walk about Boardwalk. My boyfriend likes ESPN Club, and I like sitting by the water with an ice-cream cone. Boardwalk provides a great opportunity to just relax and take a little bit of a mental break.

One Last Ride: If you have one last day of park tickets available, head to your favorite park and jump on your favorite attraction one last time. That last spin around Space Mountain can be bittersweet, but worth it! If the lines are too long, spend a few hours racing to all the attractions with a short wait time – who cares if Hall of President’s isn’t really your thing – at least you can say you did it!

Confirm Your Flight: Okay, this one isn’t fun, but it’s definitely important. On the last day of your trip, take some time to pack up, triple check your room for anything you may have forgotten, tip mousekeeping, and confirm your flight itinerary. Leaving Disney is just a little more bearable when everything runs smoothly.

Leaving Disney is hard. Like, really hard! But you can still have a great time on your departure day. Whether you are heading to the parks for one last visit, taking some time to chill out pool-side, or exploring Disney Springs – departure days can be filled with Disney magic.

How do you like to spend your last day at Disney? Let me know in the comments!

Monica is an Alumna of the Disney College Program. Fulton’s Crab House in Disney Springs will be closed for a lengthy refurbishment beginning April 4, 2016 through December 31, 2016.

Fulton’s Crab House is a fine/signature dining, seafood restaurant located on a huge riverboat permanently docked in The Landing at Disney Springs. It is a replica of the riverboat that Walt Disney himself purchased for his wife Lilly.

Top 6 ways to make the most of your Disney Dining Plan

dining finihsed
dining finihsed

dining_finihsed

There is a lot of discussion if the Disney Dining Plan is worth the money, well I’m not going to try to convince you to go for the dining plan, or to stay away from it. This article is simply if you already have the dining plan how to maximize it.

Here are the tips I found for you!

6. Understand the valve of the quick service meals – Quick service meals are valued at $15.00, don’t get a salad, go for a big meal. At Animal Kingdom’s Flame Tree Barbecue you can get chicken and ribs! GO FOR THE BIG MEALS!

5. Understand the value of the table service mealsTable service meals are valued at $35.00, use it all! This is the time where you look for the most expensive restaurant, with food you enjoy of course, and go for it.  I would never pay out-of-pocket for O’hana but on the dining plan I go all the time!

4. Don’t use your snack credits for watersnack credits are worth $5.00, water is much cheaper than that. You get a refillable mug with the dining plan that can be used at your resort only, but bring it to the park, fill it at a water foundation! Get a real snack!

3. Don’t use your dining plan on breakfast – this is usually the cheapest meal of the day anyway so why would you waste a dining credit on it? There are no desserts with breakfast, if you want to add fruit or something you’ll have to pay for it anyway. So save these credits for lunch or dinner!

2. Use table service for dinner instead of lunch – Just like breakfast is the cheapest meal of the day, dinner is much more expensive than lunch so use those table service credits for dinner. There are usually more options for dinner than at lunch anyway.

1. Use your dining snack credits at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival – You can get some pretty amazing little tastes at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, why pay for them? Use those snack credits and eat your way through the World Showcase for free!

I also have one more tip for those left over snack credits, on your last day use your snack credits to get a bunch of goodies to take home with you!

I hope you enjoyed all of my tips and happy eating!
