SeaWorld Orlando gave the new coaster, Mako, made it’s debut today. During its inaugural test ride, Mako plunged 200-feet down from its initial lift hill, surged through nine air-time hills and reached topped speeds of 73 mph. Mako’s tight turns and speed are inspired by reality. Mako sharks are known for their top speed, making extreme jumps and the ability to quickly change course as they pursue their prey. Riders will become submerged into the world of the Mako shark and feel the power of the predator as they experience the thrill of the hunt starting June 10.
Can’t wait until the opening to experience the thrill and feel the predator power of Mako, don’t worry! Watch the POV video here.
Mako Quick Facts:
Opening June 10, 2016, Mako will be the tallest, fastest and longest coaster in Orlando.
Mako will be a hypercoaster, designed for speed and relentless “air time”.
Orlando’s only hypercoaster lures guests to brave tight turns, stomach steep drops and endure shark-attack speeds.
Riders will soar up to 200 feet high and reach speeds up to 73 mph.
Mako will be the centerpiece of the new two-acre shark-themed realm which also includes Shark Encounter®, Sharks Underwater Grill®, gift shops, and shark- and shipwreck-themed educational experiences.

Whether you choose to travel to WDW with just your infant, or you’re heading there with multiple children, there’s no doubt that traveling anywhere with a little one presents some unique challenges for both parents and the child, too. Schedules are interrupted, sensory overload happens, regular diets are all screwed up – all the ingredients are there to make a recipe for disaster. But fear not – to help alleviate some of the stresses that come with infant travel, I have come up with some Tips and Tricks for Traveling with a little one to Disney World:
Don’t Overdo It: There is so much to see and do at Walt Disney World that it’s almost instinctual to try and cram as much into a day at the Parks as possible – but RESIST THE URGE to overdo it, no matter how many awesome things you see that you want to do, just take it slow and do a few rides and take breaks often. Head back to your WDW Resort for your little one’s normal naptime – it may seem like a pain to leave the Parks just to return a few hours later, but your little one (and you!) will welcome the break, trust me. And trying to skip nap time is a BIG no no – that just will not work out well for anyone, so don’t even bother trying it
Pack Accordingly: You’ll obviously want to take a well-stocked diaper bag along with you when you head out to the Parks, and you’ll want to make sure it’s a bag that’s comfortable and easy to carry/wear – I suggest a backpack (leaves your hands free for kid-wrangling). Diapers, wipes, sunscreen, hats/sunglasses, extra changes of clothes (yes, multiple), sweatshirt/hoodie/blanket, some smaller toys, and PLENTY of snacks – seriously, if it seems like you’re overdoing it, then you still probably need more. Pouches, puffs/goldfish crackers, granola/cereal bars, pieces of fruit, water bottles/juice boxes – bring them ALL – as you will not want to have to pay for an adult sized snack every time your little one is hungry – as that would get costly in a hurry
Utilize The Baby Care Centers: All 4 WDW Theme Parks have one of these baby centers, which offer a quiet spot to change, feed and nurse your little ones. There are high chairs in the feeding area, a kitchen with a microwave, oven and sink, and an on-site shop where essentials like formula, diapers, and wipes can be purchased. It’s a great place to take one of your breaks, and offers a private place to nurse too. Plus it’s air conditioned – which can really be a huge plus on a hot Orlando day!
Bring A Baby Carrier: Strollers are great, and while they make it way easier to transport your little one, I personally prefer wearing my baby as much as possible when at WDW. For the littlest babies it keeps them close to mom or dad, and helps partly shield them from the sun and noise too. Toddler carriers are great too – they make ergonomic ones that reduce the strain on your back (we like this one!), and you wear them piggyback style, which leaves them able to check out their surroundings easily. Obviously even the littlest ones will feel heavy after a while – but take turns with your partner, and sit down often for breaks. A carrier may not totally replace a stroller, but I personally think it’s a great alternative and can really help out when you’re in big crowds (like there tend to be at Disney!)
Know Before You Go: Do your research on the various rides and shows to know the age/height restrictions – and make a list of ones that might work for you and your little one. Be aware that even the tamest of shows might scare them – so be prepared to get up and leave a show if need be, as the darkness or lights/sounds might be overwhelming to little eyes and ears
Above All – DON’T STRESS!There will be tantrums and meltdowns and crying – and that’s ok – it is normal, it happens, and it is best to just accept it now – it will make your trip much easier, trust me! Taking babies and toddlers to WDW can be a big undertaking – but it can have big rewards too – watching your baby smile at Mickey, or seeing their face light up as they see the castle for the first time – these are the moments that make it all worthwhile
A while ago we reported a Disney employee found a lanyard which belong to an autistic child and was looking for the owner. Emily Gibby posted on her facebook looking for the owner, the facebook post was shared 12,000 times.
We are now happy to announce the owner has been found. Emily Gibby has now posted an updated post Ms Gibby wrote:
“This is my friend Susie everyone, I have never met her and I probably never will. But in some weird cosmic way we are connected and I am so happy to see her so happy with so much magic and love surrounding her.”
It was a happy moment in Susie’s life when her lanyard now filled along with other goodies was returned. We are so happy for Susie!

As you may already know Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise is closed for refurbishment and will be closed until May 16, 2016. This is a real downer for true Jungle Cruise lovers however for a limited time only there is show in front of the Jungle Cruise attraction called “Land Cruise”
During your “land cruise” you will not have to board a boat but will still have the fun-loving and ever zany skippers. The skippers will be using stuffed animals and other fun props to recreate the Jungle Cruise feel.
The show will be preformed a few times daily, there is no end date in sight. The “land cruise” seems to be just as fun as the Jungle Cruise minus water could be!

Most of us are familiar with “Pete’s Dragon“, the classic 1977 film that was a blend of animation and live-action. With the dragon looking like the one in the picture above. It looks like this dragon is getting a completely new look for this year’s upcoming “Pete’s Dragon” re-make–the biggest change though, is that he is covered in fur!
This new sneak peek of the dragon’s look came from Entertainment Weekly today, and the fur came as quite an unexpected surprise to fans! It has me interested to see what other changes for the re-make might also be in store for the new film.
“Pete’s Dragon” will be released August 12th this year, and stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Redford. If you missed the latest trailer, you can check it out below:
My family and I had the opportunity to attend the premiere Disney After Hours event at Magic Kingdom last night and it was incredible. Hands down, one of the best Disney experiences we’ve had and will likely be one of the most memorable too. Disney Vacation Club offered a very limited number of complimentary passes to the event and we were among 300 other fortunate members that practically had the entire Magic Kingdom park to ourselves for three hours.
1. No Crowds
There were literally no crowds throughout the park. The event runs for three hours after Park closing, which was from 11pm until 2am last night. However, guests are allowed entrance to Magic Kingdom beginning at 7pm. So for approximately 4 hours the crowd level was minimal but by 11:30pm we basically had the entire park to ourselves and it was pure magic. Every major attraction was open and select characters were available with absolutely no wait. We were able to fit two days worth of touring into one evening. I’m not sure of the exact number of guests at the park for this event but I’m going to say it couldn’t have been more than 2,000.
2. Photo opportunities
This was truly a once in a lifetime type of event and I will likely never get to experience the Magic Kingdom in this way again. There were so many amazing photo ops throughout the park that I could have easily spent the 3 hours simply taking pictures of them all. PhotoPass Photographers were scattered along Main Street and captured some incredible photos of our family. Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas cards?
3. Unlimited Ice Cream & Bottled Beverages
How many Mickey Ears ice cream bars do you think you could eat in one night if there was an unlimited and free supply throughout the park? Ice cream, soda and adrenaline carried us through the evening until we sadly left the park at 2:30am.
4. Cost
There is no doubt that $149.00 a ticket is a hefty price tag. As a family of five I wasn’t sure that paying $745.00 for this event would have been the best use of our vacation dollars. But as we wandered around the empty streets of Magic Kingdom I got to thinking that when all things considered, it might not be that crazy after all. Hear me out…
One Day Park Ticket – The cost of a 1-Day Magic Kingdom theme park ticket ages 10+ during the Regular season is $110. A Disney After Hours ticket costs $149 per ticket and includes 7 hours of admission. Add to that little to no wait time for the most popular attractions with snacks included and the price doesn’t sound as crazy. The extra $39.00 per ticket was totally worth it to us.
Ultimate VIP Experience – Guests are willing to pay $200 an hour for a VIP Tour Guide with a 4 hour minimum. That would have cost us at least $800 and we still would have had to share the park with other guests and pay for snacks and drinks on top of it.
5. Memorable Event
My 8 year old son summed the evening up best when he said “Mom, this is a really magical moment.” The evening was indeed magical and absolutely worth the price of admission to our family. Those with younger children may not be able to take full advantage of the entire evening but our 3 boys ages 14, 12 and 8 held out until after 2:00am and that’s a new record for us. Of course as I write this it is now almost noon and everyone but me is still sound asleep. I’m going to need coffee today in order to be ready for the Star Wars Half Marathon – Dark Side 10K race tomorrow morning. Lots and lots of coffee.
Event Dates and Times
April 14, 21 and May 8, 12 and 19: 11pm-2am
April 28 and May 5: 10pm-1am
Check in as early as 7pm!
Disney After Hours is currently only available for a total of 7 nights in April and May on select Tuesday and Saturday evenings for $149 per ticket. Hopefully ticket sales will pick up and there will be enough interest in order to continue this event into the future.

From left to right: Anthony Russo, Paul Bettany, Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Sharon Van Camp, and Kevin Feige
This past Sunday I had the amazing opportunity to go to the “Captain America: Civil War” press conference at the London Hotel in Beverly Hills. Having been able to see the movie the day before, I was incredibly excited to hear the amazing panel elaborate more on their characters and the making-of this epic film. Walking into the hotel, the lobby was packed full of other members of the press, all of us eagerly waiting to see the men and women behind our favorite superhero movies of all time, every Marvel fan’s dream!
Going with the theme of the Avengers being divided by their opinions of how they should be operated, there were two back-to-back panels; one for Team Iron Man and one for Team Captain America. On the Team Iron Man panel, there was co-director Anthony Russo, producer Kevin Feige, Paul Bettany (Vision), Emily Van Camp (Sharon Carter), Don Cheadle (War Machine/James Rhodes), and of course Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man).
Kevin Feige is the producer of this film, as well as the president of Marvel Studios. In hearing him speak, it is clear to see that he is passionate about the work he does, and has a genuine love for each and every film, character, and even scene in a Marvel movie. Feige said that he is in absolute awe of the line-up of talent in “Captain America: Civil War”, and is admiring not only of the actors when they are performing as their characters, but also of the character and scene work the actors put into this film off camera. Feige said, “There’s never been an ensemble like this in cinematic history.” He strongly believes that every character has an important message, purpose, and inspiration. Feige has been able to of course have a longer relationship with characters such as Iron Man and Captain America, having worked on many of the films surrounding their stories. In being asked how he felt about the newer characters in this film, he expressed that Black Panther (played by Chadwick Boseman) was the perfect addition for “Civil War.” Not only because he is a fan of the comic book character and felt Chadwick was the perfect person to be cast in the role, but he thought “Civil War” needed a character who wasn’t fully on Captain America’s side nor fully on Iron Man’s side, someone who could see points on both sides of the conflict to help the two main characters have some perspective for each argument.
Co-director Anthony Russo, having had a few Marvel movies under his belt, still loves making these films. As CGI and film-making technologies are improving rapidly, he always likes to re-visit the world of the Avengers every couple of years to get to interpret their stories and battles using the latest technology in the film industry. In addition to incredible visuals, he discussed that he feels that one of the biggest reasons movies in the Marvel cinematic universe are so unique is due to a relatively small crew mapping out the character’s stories. Russo explained how most big budget films have large crews of people working on story lines, climaxes, etc, but for these films it is him, fellow co-director Joe Russo, and Kevin Feige who are intimately working together to map out the next moves for each of their characters. Russo, like Feige, also felt the inclusion of new characters such as Spider-Man and Black Panther were crucial for this particular film. Since there were so many plot lines to keep track of and deeply rooted character’s backgrounds to visit in “Captain America: Civil War”, he felt having character’s without such long histories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe helped the movie have moments of humor to balance out the moments of high emotion and intensity. Russo said although their films always have plenty of intensity, action, and adventure, it is the character’s individual personalities, heart, and emotions that truly give the films their substance. He believes if you have a film rich in relationships, along with action, this brings a unique cinematic experience. If you just have action without the heart, it’s easy for audiences not to be captivated.
Prior to “Avengers: Age of Ultron” Paul Bettany voiced J.A.R.V.I.S., who then took a new, more human form called Vision. Bettany talked about how he quite enjoys playing Vision, since it’s an interesting task portraying a role of someone who is trying to figure out humanity and how to interact with the physical world around him. It is a character he has been familiar with for years, but now his character is experiencing more human emotions and even developing flaws.
Emily Van Camp, who plays Sharon Carter, said that she absolutely loves being a part of these films. Not only because she enjoys her character, but is a huge fan of action and adventure in film and television. She didn’t explicitly say at the press conference, but I got the feeling that we may see some more action from Sharon Carter in the future, and Van Camp would definitely be on board to film those types of scenes.
Don Cheadle, who plays Tony Stark’s loyal sidekick War Machine, or Rhody, as Stark lovingly calls him, went in-depth about his character. He discussed how Rhody’s main conflict is figuring out what he owes as a serviceman to his friend Tony Stark versus what his line of duty is for his country. His personal ongoing struggle is trying to figure out a system of checks and balances, and this uncertainty he has shows through the most in “Captain America: Civil War”.
Robert Downey Jr., just like Tony Stark, is quite the personality and incredibly interesting to hear speak. He had so much of the humor and confidence of Tony, but without the ego! Downey talked a lot about how he was over the moon when he found out Spider-Man would be a part of the film, he absolutely loves the comics and even admitted he “fan-boyed” a little upon finding out he would be included in “Captain America: Civil War.” He played a hand in the casting of Tom Holland as Spider-Man, and really enjoyed their scene work and time filming together. “Captain America: Civil War” was an especially interesting film for Downey since he feels that his character of Iron Man/Tony Stark has some really pivotal moments and emotions in this story. He explains how Tony is someone who is broken and narcissistic, and his character is beginning to realize that he is these things, and trying to heal and fix himself for the better.
It was an incredible event to say the least, to see some of the greatest movie superheroes in cinematic history in-person discussing their characters, and getting to learn more about this incredible film. Stay tuned for the second part of the press conference, where we hear from Team Captain America!

Meeting Disney characters can be a fun part of any Disney vacation but with so many changes lately it’s become difficult to keep track of them all! Below is a roundup of some new and recent character changes at the theme parks.
Jiminy Cricket – Limited Time at Animal Kingdom!
Pinocchio’s conscience will be making a special appearance at Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom again this year in celebration of Earth Week from April 17th until April 23rd. Hop onboard the Wildlife Express Train in Africa for a meet and greet opportunity with this rare Disney character.
Joy and Sadness – Now Appearing in Epcot!
Joy and Sadness from the Inside Out movie are currently available for meet and greets and autograph signings in Epcot at Epcot’s Character Spot. They are located across the walkway from Mickey, Minnie and Goofy and adjacent to the recently opened Baymax meet and greet. There is currently only a stand-by option at the moment where guests can journey through Riley’s long term memory and catch a glimpse of her Islands of Personality on your way to Headquarters.
Anna and Elsa – Coming and Going Soon!
It looks as though Anna and Elsa will officially be leaving their space at Princess Fairytale Hall at Magic Kingdom once the new Royal Sommerhus in Epcot opens this summer. Guests will soon be able to find them at the Norway Pavilion next to the new Frozen Ever After attraction, which also plans to open summer 2016.
Olaf – Coming Soon to Hollywood Studios!
The lovable snowman from Frozen will begin making appearances at the new Celebrity Spotlight in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in April. According to the Disney website, it looks like he will be available for pictures, autographs and hugs beginning this month. There is a reference to “catch Olaf before he melts!”, which makes me wonder if Olaf will only be visiting temporarily.
Mickey & Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams – Coming Soon!
See the star-studded debut of this heartwarming Character Greeting featuring Mickey and Minnie as they head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with little more than a wish for silver screen fame and a pocket full of dreams.

Aurora – Now Appearing in Magic Kingdom!
Princess Aurora is now meeting guests at the Town Square Courtyard area in Magic Kingdom. This is the spot where Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny usually appear during the Easter season. It should be interesting to see if Aurora will make her way over to the vacated spot at Princess Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland once Anna and Else relocate to Epcot this summer.
Kylo Ren and Chewbacca – Now Appearing at Hollywood Studios!
Both characters are available to meet at Star Wars Launch Bay in Hollywood Studios but neither sign autographs. Chewie is a fuzzy gentle giant whereas Kylo Ren can be quite intimidating!
