Halloween Time

Halloween Time is in full swing at the Disneyland Resort and this year the spooky festivities have expanded to Disney’s California Adventure Park. The Halloween decor is taking over the park and Cars Land has received a ghoulish makeover, from your favorite Cars characters donning their costumes, to Halloween themed attraction changes, Radiator Springs has transformed into the spookiest little town in Carburetor County.

Even the food has undergone terrifying transformations, at Cars Land. Flo’s V8 Cafe is serving up a Halloween Time menu during Cars Land’s Haul-O-Ween season, featuring a main dish that puts a creepy twist on a classic comfort food. The Car-Achnid Pot Pie, a chicken pot pie with dried cranberries and butter-crust spider, offers the comfort of a home cooked meal with a touch of the Halloween spirit. The pot pie is served with a side of coleslaw for $11.99.

Also on the Halloween menu at Flo’s V8 Cafe:

  • Grape Ghoul-Ant Shake for $5.49.
  • Candy Corn Pie – cream pie with vanilla, butterscotch, and white chocolate pudding, for $5.39.

Chef Buddy Valastro Returns to the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

Carlo’s Bakery head and celebrated pastry Chef Buddy Valastro is returning to this year’s Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. Carlo’s Bakery, featured on TLC’s Cake Boss, is a legendary bakery known for delicious pastries, desserts, and cakes.

Chef Buddy will be appearing at the Festival as part of the “What’s Cookin’ With” series of celebrity chef demos and discussions. He will be hosting a crowd favorite demo and discussion on Sunday, November 12.

Disney Parks Blog recently caught up with Chef Buddy at Carlo’s in Jersey City to get a sneak peek into his festival presentation and ask him about what he and his family love to do – and eat – while at Walt Disney World.

Construction Progress of The Edison at Disney Springs

The Edison

Construction at The Edison at Disney Springs is moving right along. We stopped by this weekend to snag some pictures of the progress and we noticed that it now has windows! Every step closer to this location opening is exciting in our book.

The Edison is scheduled to open this Fall and will be part of a larger interconnected complex of four dining locations owned by The Patina Restaurant Group. We already know that The Edison is themed as a former electrical power plant and “Maria & Enzo’s” is expected to feature a speakeasy bar element, which will be part of the underground rum running tunnel. What we don’t know yet is what the Patina Group is billing as the “former airline terminal” or the fourth location with no description.

When Will Early 2018 and Military Discounts be Released for Walt Disney World?

If you are waiting on Walt Disney World discounts for the early part of 2018 to be released, then this article is for you! Historically those discounts are released around this time of the year and IF they are released this year, we should expect them to be announced sometime soon. Also, this is around the time of the year military discounts are also announced.

Last year, the Play, Stay & Dine package discount, as well as 15% to 25% off room-only bookings, was available for booking for Disney Visa Cardholders on September 28, 2016. On September 30, 2016, both of those discounts became available for booking to the general public. Previously, the Play, Stay, & Dine discount was available for arrival dates January 1, 2017, to March 7, 2017, and the room-only discount was available for arrival dates of January 1, 2017, to April 8, 2017.

Discounts for Annual Passholders and Florida residents were released for the arrival dates above in October and December, respectively.

If it’s military discounts you are waiting on, last year those were announced on September 28, 2016.

Keep in mind that discounts are never guaranteed by Disney and nothing is official until Disney makes the announcement! I always recommend to book your reservations with rates you are comfortable with and then if a discount is released, it’s just the icing on the cake! As a Travel Agent, I also can say that the past few discount releases have had extremely limited availability.

Fall is officially here and Ghirardelli is kicking the season off right by bringing us some amazing Pumpkin drinks! Four of them to be exact, all full of chocolate pumpkin-y goodness. We stopped by the Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop this weekend to check them out and we were not disappointed.

The Pumpkin Spice Caramel Shake (pictured above) is a vanilla shake with Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Fudge swirled on the sides. Of course pumpkin spice is mixed in with a drizzling of caramel on top of the whipped cream. You also can’t forget about the Pumpkin Spice Caramel Square sitting above it all. Yum! The Pumpkin Spice Caramel Square is priced at $7.95 and in my opinion worth every penny.

Slinky Dog Dash Roller Coaster Begins Testing

Toy Story Land

Exciting news, Toy Story Fans and those counting down the days until Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios opens! It appears that safety testing on the new Slinky Dog Dash Roller Coaster is underway! We reported in August that the vehicles being used on the new attraction arrived in Disney World.

Unfortunately, we are still going to have to wait some time for us to ride the new ride. Disney confirmed at July’s D23 Expo that Toy Story Land will not be opening until Summer 2018.

Wicked Cool Disney Villains Inspired Best Day Ever Tee

Disney Villains Inspired Best Day Ever Tee

Every day at Disney is as Rapunzel says the “Best Day Ever”! As a huge fan of Disney Villains, and Rapunzel being my favorite princess, I may have just found a new favorite shirt! The newest shirt from Once Upon a Tee Shirt at Etsy is this wicked amazing Disney Villains Inspired Best Day Ever Tee!

Once Upon a Tee Shirt does very cute, and clever tees! Their shirts are totally original, and every design has been hand drawn. The villains tee is inspired by three very popular villainous ladies; Maleficent, the Evil Queen, and Ursula. Each of the three words is dedicated to one of these vixens. The “BEST” features black and purple letters covered in thorns, and is topped with Mal’s signature horns, and flanked by her dragon form. “DAY” is evoking the Evil Queen’s signature poison apple essence with red dripping letters, and the green potion oozing over. “EVER” finishes the quote with some serious Ursula vibes written out in a curling tentacle font.

This too cool for heroes design is on a soft purple tee, and ready to have the most evil best day ever!

You can check out this new tee and some of their other adorably clever designs below, the “All That and a Bag of Chips” is a personal favorite of mine as well.

Is Luke Bryan Going to be Next ‘American Idol’ Judge?

American Idol

Online reports speculate that popular country singer, Luke Bryan, has been tapped to be the second of three judges announced for ABC’s revamped American Idol. Previously,  Katy Perry has been announced as a judge.

The singing competition previously aired on Fox for 15 seasons. It came to an end in 2016. This past year, ABC announced they would be reviving the show to premiere during the 2017-2018 season.

When the ABC version of the show premieres, it will feature three judges instead of the four that were standard during the show’s later years on Fox. While the number of judges may be changing, the host will not. Ryan Seacrest has confirmed that he will be back to fill his iconic role.

No word on who the third judge of the show will be. Auditions for the new season of the show are currently underway across the country. Also, keep following along to know the official premiere date for the relaunched American Idol.

Update to Disney Quest Demolition at Disney Springs

Disney Quest at Disney Springs has been officially closed for almost three months now and it appears that the demolition process is underway. Orlando Business Journal is reporting that permits have been filed with Orange County indicating that “demo of structure and additional work” will take place on the old Disney Quest Building.

As you can tell, the Disney Quest sign is already coming down:

The new NBA Experience that will fill the same location where Disney Quest was will offer Guests at Disney Springs a brand new dining and entertainment option. Disney is hoping to for the NBA Experience to be the ultimate destination to catch a great meal while watching their favorite NBA team hit the hardwoods. In addition, interactive experience will be offered along with a gift shop.

Disney has not yet anno9unecd an official opening date for the NBA Experience but reports indicate that it may be open by or during Summer 2018. Keep following along with us at the details on this new Disney Springs attraction come in.
