Disney Stores, Nationwide, Kick Off ‘Summer Play Days’ Series

Looking for for some local Disney fun this summer? Starting this week, Disney Stores across the nation will be hosting a series of free daily events all summer long. This summer series, ‘Summer Play Days‘ will kick off Saturday, June 10th with a Disney-Pixar Cars 3 even. You’ll be able to learn about the characters from the newest Cars movie, then take the “driver’s seat” to test the characters skills on the track, using remote control cars on a racetrack inside the Disney Store.

Beginning on June 10, Guests who participate in Summer Play Days will be able to collect Disney Emoji patches featuring different Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars characters. New patches will be available each Wednesday between June 14 and August 9*:

Wed. 6/14: Cruz Ramirez
Wed. 6/21: Pascal
Wed. 6/28: Storm Trooper
Wed. 7/5: Spider-Man
Wed. 7/12: Jackson Storm
Wed. 7/19: Olaf
Wed. 7/26: BB-8
Wed. 8/2: Iron Man
Wed. 8/9: Stitch

“Summer Play Days has become a Guest favorite at Disney Store and we know many look forward to these events each year,” said Jonathan Storey, VP of Store Experience. “This summer, we are excited to continue offering our Guests great experiences now with the added fun of collectible Disney Emoji patches.”

Guests will receive a special display card where they can attach their patches and those who have collected all of the weekly patches can receive an exclusive Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse patch between August 9-20.** Cast Members will also be distributing a special limited Simba patch spontaneously throughout Summer Play Days as a special magical moment for Guests.

Free daily events taking place through August 9 include Storytime, Art of Drawing and Showtimes:

Tangled the Series Event: Guests will learn to draw Pascal, Rapunzel’s mischievous friend. A brief introduction is given to the history of Disney Animation.
Star Wars Adventures Event: Guests are invited to participate in three activities, including defense training against Stormtroopers, Millennium Falcon flight training and writing their name in Aurebesh. Guests will receive one of two Star Wars postcards (BB-8 or Chewbacca) and Aurebesh alphabet stickers
Art of Drawing Marvel’s Spider-Man Event: Guests will learn to draw Marvel’s Spider-Man. A brief introduction is given to the history of Disney Animation, as well as an explanation of traditional and modern Disney animation.
Mickey and the Roadster Racers Event: Guests will prepare for a race in Hotdog hills before they head to Italy to cheer on the Roadster Racers. Each Guest will receive their own trophy.
Princess Gathering Event: Guests will discover the Disney Princesses’ ambitions, strengths and will learn what makes each one of them special. Guests who participate will receive a special wristband.
Star Wars Storytime Event: Guests will hear the story, “Star Wars: Escape from Jakku.” Journey through the story, helping the narrators bring the story to life with interactive movements. Guests will receive a BB-8 finger puppet of their own.
Avengers Training Academy Event: Guests will take part of the Avengers Age of Ultron Training Academy to get an overview of each of the Avengers and learn their key skills and poses.
Elena of Avalor Event: Guests will use Elena’s Scepter of Light to channel the powerful magic Elena has, play and dance along with an inflatable guitar and create their own Jaquin to fly around.

$1 Popcorn Refills for Disneyland Annual Passholders

Are you a Disneyland Annual Passholder? Have we got a treat for you! At Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, you can purchase a $15 collectible popcorn bucket and receive unlimited $1 refills. Annual Passholders can purchase their collectible buckets before June 25th and enjoy $1 refills until June 30th.

Each park offers a different theme for their bucket design. The Disneyland Park collectible bucket features a Main Street Electrical Parade design, in celebration of the parade’s return to Disneyland. A Summer of Heroes design is featured on the collectible buckets over in Disney California Park. This comes as no surprise with the recent opening of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and Summer of Heroes in full swing.

Passholders can purchase their collectible buckets at any of the select participating popcorn carts throughout Disneyland Park and Disney California Park, then park-hop and have their buckets refilled for $1 at participating carts in either park! Below is a list of all the participating locations in each park:

Frontierland (near Mark Twain Riverboat)
Main Street, U.S.A. (near City Hall)
Main Street, U.S.A. (Hub)
Mickey’s Toontown (near Gadget’s Go Coaster)

Disney California Adventure Park:

Buena Vista Street (near Carthay Circle)
Grizzly Peak (near Soarin’ Around the World)
Paradise Pier (near Mickey’s Fun Wheel)

RIP Adam West, dead at 88 years old

The star of ABC’s Batman Adam West has died at the age of 88. Adam has been battling with leukemia confirmed by his reps.

His other Disney credits include:

Jake and the Never Land Pirates (TV Series) – Wise Old Parrot
Meet the Robinsons – Uncle Art
Chicken Little: Ace in Action – Ace
Kim Possible (TV Series) – Timothy North / Fearless Ferret

Adam’s family released the following statement:

Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero.

Burt Ward, who played Robin to West’s Batman in the 1960s TV series, gave the following statement to Variety:

I am devastated at the loss of one my very dearest friends. Adam and I had a special friendship for more than 50 years. We shared some of the most fun times of our lives together. Our families have deep love and respect for each other. This is a terribly unexpected loss of my lifelong friend. I will forever miss him. There are several fine actors who have portrayed Batman in films. In my eyes, there was only one real Batman that is and always will be Adam West. He was truly the Bright Knight.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Disney Classics 5 Puzzle Set for Rainy Summer Days

It’s been non stop raining for us ever since summer break started, and we’re starting to run out of things to do. With another week of rain, I decided to look for some indoor entertainment! I was happy to find this fun Disney Classics 5 Puzzle Set online, which offers multiple puzzles to entertain us with.

This pack multi-pack features five puzzles featuring classic beloved Disney characters! Each puzzle has a very retro and colorful painting style, which captures the characters beautifully. The set comes with two 300 piece, two 500 piece and one 750 piece puzzle for varying levels of difficulty. This set is great because it offers many puzzles for different skill levels, my youngest can enjoy the smaller puzzles, while I can enjoy the larger one.

Disney Parks are celebrating National Candy Month with some gourmet treats at the Disneyland Resort as well as Walt Disney World.

Get a napkin to wipe the drool after reading the description of this delicious gourmet apple. For National Candy Month, Disneyland is offering a Pecan Turtle Gourmet Apple. A Granny Smith apple is dipped in caramel before being enrobed in milk chocolate. It is then adorned with pecan pieces and a caramel drizzle. Yes, please! These gourmet candy treats can be found at Marceline’s Confectionary in the Downtown Disney District, Candy Palace and Hunny Spot in Disneyland park, and Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure park.

Walt Disney World guests be sure to look for Chesire Cat Tails at Cheshire Café in Magic Kingdom Park! The tails are a sweet pastry twist filled with chocolate chips, drizzled with pink and purple icing, just like the Cheshire Cat’s stripes.

Cool off in the summer heat with a Shaved Ice at Harambe Fruit Market in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! These frozen treats are available in watermelon, piña colada or mango-passion fruit flavors.

Kachow! A new cupcake inspired by “Cars 3” is now available at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Strawberry cake is topped with vanilla buttercream frosting and a white chocolate Lightning McQueen. Look for it at ABC Commissary, The Trolley Car Café, Rosie’s All-American Café, Catalina Eddie’s and Fairfax Fare.

If you like S’mores be sure to stop by The Ganachery inDisney Springs for a new made-to-order S’mores treat. Served on a house-made graham cracker, house-made vanilla bean marshmallow, salted caramel ganache and topped with a piece of custom dark chocolate ganache.

Looking for another reason to visit the new Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge? There Berry Whip is perfect treat on a hot summer day.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is featuring two new cupcakes at Contempo Café. Enjoy a Florida specialty, Key Lime Cupcake. This graham cracker-flavored cupcake has key lime filling and topped with key lime buttercream frosting before being garnished with graham cracker crumbs. The Cookies and Cream Cupcake will be a hit with kids. This vanilla cupcake has yummy cookies and cream filling and topped with cookies and cream buttercream frosting, garnished with mini chocolate chips and cookie ears. And for Father’s Day on June 18, look for a special vanilla cupcake with peanut butter filling and icing topped with caramel crispy pearls.

Magic Kingdom’s Cool Ship Now Featuring Pizza Frusta

Cool Ship, located between Space Mountain and Astro Orbiter, in the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom is a great place to stop and pick up a cold beverage. This snack stop has recently updated its menu. Magic Kingdom’s Cool Ship is now featuring Pizza Frusta.

Pizza Frusta options are either Cheese, or Pepperoni and Sausage. These twisted pizzas did not look very appealing, but we decided to try the Pepperoni and Sausage. This distorted Pizza was hot and crunchy, but quite dry and lacking in flavor. We understand that tastes and food preferences will vary amongst individuals. Unfortunately, for us, this choice did not taste any better than it looked and we are not likely to make a trip back to try the Cheese Pizza Frusta either.

The Cool Ship Cooling Station menu shows that Pizza Frusta will cost you $7.99. The Disney Dining Plan is not accepted for this particular item. While this option may hit the spot as a quick grab-and-go food item, we do not recommend it. For $7.99, we will take our money elsewhere.
