Say “Aloha” to Adventure: Hawaiian Airlines Debuts Lilo & Stitch-Themed Planes Ahead of Live-Action Film Release

Get ready for a high-flying dose of ‘ohana — Hawaiian Airlines has just launched the first of three brand-new aircraft decked out in Lilo & Stitch-inspired designs, celebrating the upcoming release of Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch, hitting theaters May 23. And yes, Stitch is bringing all the mischief with him… straight into the skies!

The first plane to hit the runway with its new look is an Airbus A330, now flying proudly with Stitch giving his best “Pualani pose” alongside the airline’s iconic island imagery. But the alien fun doesn’t stop there — an Airbus A321 will debut next week covered in a wacky, wild Stitch “masterpiece,” with a final livery design for the Boeing 717 set to be revealed next month. If you spot one, consider it a little magical mayhem at 30,000 feet!

This airborne collaboration between Hawaiian Airlines and Disney isn’t just about a new paint job — it’s a full experience from takeoff to landing:

In-Flight Video Fun: Stitch has hijacked the airline’s Travel Pono video, which normally encourages guests to explore Hawai‘i responsibly. Now, he’s learning a few lessons of his own… with some chaos, of course.
AR Adventures: Guests can join “Searching for Stitch,” an interactive augmented reality experience that lets travelers digitally hunt for Stitch across six Hawaiian islands. Collectible animated Stitch sightings represent the core values of Hawaiian’s Travel Pono program.

About the New Film

Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) and stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Lilo and Maia Kealoha in her film debut. Featuring a cast that includes Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders (voice of Stitch!), and Zach Galifianakis, the movie promises to deliver a heartfelt reimagining of the 2002 animated classic — with all the laughs, tears, and Elvis Presley songs you’d expect.

As Stitch says: “This is my family. I found it all on my own. It’s little, and broken, but still good.” Hawaiian Airlines is bringing that same energy onboard — one livery (and Elvis wig) at a time.

Disney Files Permit for Demolition of Muppet Store in Hollywood Studios

Disney Preps to Bid “Mahna Mahna” Farewell to Stage 1 Company Store at Hollywood Studios

Another Muppet milestone is about to vanish in a puff of comedic chaos and glittery gloves. Disney has officially filed a permit to demolish the Stage 1 Company Store — the long-shuttered, prop-packed shop near MuppetVision 3D* in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Filed under the name of Walt Disney Imagineering, the permit includes “demo, infrastructure prep and utility modification” for the store located at 361 Cypress Drive in the Grand Avenue area of the park. PCL Construction Services, Inc. is handling the heavy lifting — and likely some heavy-hearted Muppet fans.

For the uninitiated or those who haven’t peeked inside since the Before Times, the Stage 1 Company Store was the go-to spot for all things Muppet merch, with colorful walls, quirky Easter eggs, and props hanging from the ceiling like Gonzo after a stunt gone wrong. But since its 2020 closure during the pandemic, the shop has only sporadically reopened for limited-time shopping events — including May the 4th gear drops and Disney Jollywood Nights photo ops. Over the years, Disney has stripped the front half of Muppet theming, while the back half still clings to its zany roots.

But not for long.

This demolition is part of a major transformation of the Grand Avenue area into a Monsters, Inc.-themed land. That includes the permanent closure of MuppetVision 3D* on June 7, followed by the closures of PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, both of which are set to be gutted and reimagined. The Stage 1 space, however, won’t be reimagined — it’ll be gone entirely to make way for wider walkways and a Monsters, Inc. suspended door coaster.

While Disney hasn’t officially confirmed every detail, rumors suggest MuppetVision 3D* is being recorded for archival purposes before the curtain falls for good. That’s no surprise, considering how much of the show’s magic lives in its interactive, sensory overload-style theater setup.

So what does this mean for fans of Kermit, Fozzie, and the gang? It’s another step back for the Muppets in the theme parks, and possibly a last hurrah for one of the most unique corners of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Two Men Injured in Shooting at Disney World Cast Member Housing Complex Flamingo Crossings Village

Shots Fired During Argument at Flamingo Crossings Village Apartment Complex

An argument between two men turned violent late Wednesday night at Flamingo Crossings Village West, a residential complex in Orange County, Florida, just minutes from Walt Disney World. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, both men exchanged gunfire during the altercation and were transported to the hospital with injuries.

Deputies responded to the scene around 10:10 p.m., where the two individuals — both in their 20s — reportedly opened fire on each other in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The extent of their injuries has not been released, and no additional details about the individuals involved have been made public at this time.

Flamingo Crossings Village, originally opened in 2020, was designed to house College Program participants working at Walt Disney World. In 2023, the complex expanded leasing to include other Cast Members employed by Disney. The apartments are divided into East and West Villages and are located adjacent to Flamingo Crossings Town Center near Highway 429 and Western Way — less than a 15-minute drive from the theme park gates.

While the incident did not result in any reported injuries to bystanders, it has sparked concern in a community known for housing young professionals and Disney Cast Members. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.

For now, no further details — including possible charges or the reason behind the dispute — have been made available.

The savanna just got a little taller! Meet Tucker, the newest Masai giraffe calf who made his official debut last month. You’ll catch this duo out on Kilimanjaro Safaris, where Mara gives him gentle nudges and guides him through the wide-open plains.

Universal Studios Hollywood: Mega Movie Summer Starts June 13th

Movie buffs heading to Los Angeles this summer, take note! Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up for Universal Mega Movie Summer, an all-new seasonal event beginning Friday, June 13th and continuing daily through Sunday, August 10th, 2025. The park will become a vibrant hub as iconic movies come to life, promising guests the best summer day in L.A. with unique experiences designed to help them “beat the heat,” “hang with friends,” and “party in the park” in true cinematic style.

With the addition of ingenious menu items, curated by Universal Studios Hollywood Executive Chef Julia Thrash and complemented by all-new collections of exclusive merchandise, including apparel and toys, Universal Mega Movie Summer will delight guests and fans with an array of exclusive in-world, themed offerings.

Highlights:

Jurassic World—The Ride Featuring Mosasaurus Splash, inspired by Universal Pictures’ highly-anticipated movie Jurassic World Rebirth opening in theaters on July 2, roars to life within the theme park’s popular dinosaur-laden thrill ride. The iconic 84-foot water drop at the ride’s finale will reverberate with the menacing roar of a Mosasaurus. Four new Spitter dinosaurs will join the melee and water geysers will erupt to shower guests.

An all-new adorable dinosaur from Jurassic World Rebirth will join Blue the Velociraptor, Juliet the Triceratops and Baby Tango. These highly realistic, lifelike dinosaurs will engage with guests alongside the debut of an all-new adventure character, also inspired by Jurassic World Rebirth. A larger-than-life photo op of a Spinosaurus dinosaur will welcome guests to step into a thrilling scene from the film for a memorable photo for instant social postings, and an inspiring scavenger hunt game featuring Compy will entertain visitors while keeping them on their toes.

Jurassic Cafe will serve up a sampling of new prehistoric delicacies, plus Isla Nubar will feature new cocktails, The Jurassic Water Rebirth and Spicy Jurassic Pearadise.

To mark the 50^th Golden Anniversary of Jaws the movie, Universal Studios Hollywood is reintroducing its iconic hanging shark, a larger-than-life dimensional sculpture photo op, and paying homage to this Academy Award-winning blockbuster with the debut of meet and greet characters, Captain Quint and Chief Brody. On the Studio Tour, Jaws will be featured on the iconic Hollywood Sign replica, situated along the backlot hillside, and the infamous Jaws Lake attraction as it celebrates July 4^th all summer long.

Hollywood & Dine, located just inside the theme park’s main entry, will transform into Amity Island Cafe, serving up a menu fit for a great white. Menu and beverage highlights will include Lobster Roll, Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Fish and Chicken Basket, Shark Bait Burger, Shark Fin Funnel Cake, Amity Island Parfait and Amity Beach Lifesaver Donut, as well as The Shark Bite cocktail and Amity Open Water, a non-alcoholic beverage.

To commemorate the 40^th anniversary of the landmark film Back to the Future, the iconic Time Machine from the film will be staged on the theme park’s Upper Lot, adjacent to Mel’s Diner. Characters Doc Brown, Marty McFly and Einstein the dog will all be on hand and paw to greet guests and pose for timeless photo ops.

With its decades-old throwback sensibilities,Mel’s Diner idyllically captures the essence of Back to the Future, serving up such menu options as the Flux Capacitor Patty Melt, Time Machine Pastrami Melt, Doc Brown’s Chicken Pot Pie, Outatime Cookie, Time Traveler’s Milk Shake, Flux Capacitor Mocktail and Wake Up Juice Cocktail.

Guests and fans of Universal Pictures’ blockbuster Wicked will have a chance to rejoicify with popular characters, Elphaba and Glinda, when they step out in style to greet guests at the theme park’s existing vibrant Wicked themed photo op, located adjacent to the main entrance.

A sculpted dimensional photo op of Toothless from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks’ live action movie How to Train Your Dragon opening in theatres on June 13, will take center stage within Universal Plaza. This lifelike, 730-pound, larger-than-life sculpted dimensional dragon will tower at nearly 6’ in height, measuring 24’ in length and 8’ in width. Surprised guests posing next to Toothless will no doubt be able to imagine themselves soaring with their favorite dragon within the Isle of Berk.

A dedicated food cart within Universal Plaza will serve scrumptious treats that only a dragon could devour, such as Toothless and Light Fury cookies and a Toothless popcorn bucket.

As construction continues on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, Universal Studios Hollywood’s first-ever, high-speed outdoor roller coaster opening in 2026, the theme park will offer guests an exciting sneak peek at one of the ride vehicles for this all-new adventure. The Dodge Charger ride vehicle, designed to look like Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger, will park within Universal Plaza for guests to enjoy as the theme park races towards the roller coaster’s grand opening next year.

Get ready, Disney devotees! D23: The Official Disney Fan Club has just announced a dazzling array of exclusive events and offerings set to make this summer truly spectacular. From celebrating cherished Disney milestones to diving deep into the magic behind the stories we love, and even extending the excitement of Destination D23, fans will have more incredible opportunities than ever to connect with the worlds and characters they adore.

For D23 Members who want to take part in the fun during Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney – Presented by Lug, there will now be separately ticketed events that fans can participate in.

D23 On The Road: A Goofy Movie Throwback Premiere: On Thursday, August 28, get ready to relive the road trip of a lifetime with a screening of the cult classic A Goofy Movie (1995) at the AMC Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida – the very same theater the film premiered at 30 years ago. The final stop of the D23 On The Road summer series, this event will feature a red carpet walk-through experience before the show as well as a few surprise guests. Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 9 at 10 a.m. PT.
D23 Kuzcotopia Night at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon*: On Saturday, August 30, D23 Gold Members wanting to take part in this Destination D23 after-hours event have the opportunity to join the celebration of 25 years of The Emperor’s New Groove (2000), full of photo opportunities, special entertainment, and themed activities. Tickets for this separately ticketed event go on sale on Tuesday, May 13 at 10 a.m. PT.
Shopping Spree at Destination D23*: D23 Gold Members will have the chance to participate in the special shopping experiences available at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort during Destination D23 on Saturday, August 30, or Sunday, August 31. The D23 Shopping Spree gives fans access to exclusive merchandise at Mickey’s of Glendale, Ink and Paint Marketplace, The Walt Disney Company Store, and The Disney Studio Store Hollywood. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, May 14 at 10 a.m. PT.

D23 Gold Members are invited to celebrate 20 years of friendship in the D23 Gold Theater with Duffy and Friends on Thursday, June 26 with the broadcast of a recent presentation that took place at the historic Grand Central Air Terminal in Glendale, CA. Born from an original story at Walt Disney Imagineering, Duffy and Friends have brought years of happiness and warm-hearted storytelling to Disney Parks around the world for fans to enjoy.
The D23 Spotlight Series is returning in June to both coasts, with the Walt Disney Archives’ 55th Anniversary Celebration. Dive into the history of the Walt Disney Archives and discover how the group collaborates with teams across the company to safeguard and share thousands of treasures in their historical collections. More information will be released at a later date for this D23 Spotlight Series event in Glendale, CA (Sunday, June 1) and Orlando, FL (Sunday, June 22).
Celebrate Walt Disney’s classic Cinderella (1950) with an enchanting 75th anniversary screening on the Walt Disney Studios Lot on Saturday, June 7. Hear from experts at the Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Film Archive on how they’ve preserved and restored this enchanting story. Following the film, guests are invited to shop at The Walt Disney Company Store and the Disney Studio Store. In addition to general admission, a limited number of VIP tickets will be available to D23 Gold Members, offering priority seating for the screening and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Film Archives. D23 On The Road: A Goofy Movie 30th Anniversary is a brand-new multicity touring series bringing this iconic film, along with a uniquely D23 experience, to more than 20 cities this summer. Tickets are still available for select cities.
On Sunday, May 25, D23 is returning to Angel Stadium for D23 Day at Angel Stadium as the Los Angeles Angels take on the Miami Marlins. Guests purchasing a ticket to the game through the exclusive D23 ticket link will receive a commemorative Stitch-themed pin and water bottle, as well as gain access to D23-exclusive areas featuring special trivia, photo spots, and music. D23 Members can also enter the D23 Day at Angel Stadium Sweepstakes** for the chance to win four tickets to the game, as well as four $20 Fandango promo codes, each good towards a movie ticket to see Disney’s Lilo & Stitch in theaters; four Stitch beach towels; four Stitch beach bags; and four Stitch notebooks. On May 20, D23 is releasing the summer issue of Disney twenty-three magazine with three collectible front covers showcasing three decades of storytelling from Pixar Animation Studios.
