Get Ready to Play! Disney Files Permit for Toy Story Mania

Whispers from Walt Disney World suggest that beloved Toy Story Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios might be in line for some exciting refurbishment work. While official details remain under wraps, this could potentially involve updates to the ride’s technology, scenic enhancements, or even expansions to the queue or overall experience, promising to keep this fan-favorite attraction fresh and engaging for years to come.

It appears that refurbishment or updates are indeed planned for Toy Story Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A Notice of Commencement for “General Construction” has been filed by Disney’s Facility Asset Management segment, specifying the address as 585 Stage Ln., Bay Lake, FL – the established site of the popular attraction in Toy Story Land.

Disney has contracted the Adena Corporation to undertake this work. Adena is a familiar partner for Disney, having previously been responsible for the demolition of the NBA Experience and is currently involved in the construction of its successor, Level99. Their collaboration also extends to smaller projects, such as the recent transformation of Magic Kingdom’s Fairytale Garden into the enchanting Mirabel meet-and-greet.

While Disney’s Facility Asset Management typically manages standard upkeep, suggesting major changes to Toy Story Mania are unlikely, a recent “General Construction” permit is in place until September 26, 2025. This permit could be related to the long-standing construction in the attraction’s exit queue, which has included the development of covered seating for Woody’s Lunch Box. It’s plausible that this filing pertains to the final stages or further enhancements of that project.

For now, Disney has not indicated any plans to close Toy Story Mania.

Jumping for Joeys! Meet the Adorable New Tammar Wallabies at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

There’s a new hoppening crowd at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and they’re impossibly cute! 🦘 Just in time to add a little extra spring to your step, Tammar wallabies — the smallest species of wallaby in the world — have made their official debut at the park, and we’re totally mob-sessed!

You’ll find these wide-eyed wonders exploring The Oasis, near the entrance to Animal Kingdom. Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment, Dr. Mark Penning, gave us the exciting update via Instagram, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome these bouncing new residents.

What’s So Special About Tammar Wallabies?

Let’s dig into the adorable details:

Tiny but mighty: Even fully grown, Tammar wallabies only reach about two feet in height and weigh around 15–20 pounds. Their short, dark grey fur is accented with reddish sides and a tan belly — basically the designer handbag of marsupials.
Tail talk: Their 15–17 inch tail does double duty — helping them balance as they move and acting like a third leg when they sit. That’s right, these guys have built-in kickstands!

Disney Junior Characters Take a Summer Break from Animation Courtyard as “Cool Kid Summer” Heats Up at Hollywood Studios

If you’ve strolled through Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios lately hoping to catch a hug from Vampirina or a royal wave from Fancy Nancy, you may have run into some rolling planters instead. That’s because the beloved Disney Junior character meet and greets are temporarily taking five as Walt Disney World prepares to launch its Cool Kid Summer extravaganza starting May 27, 2025.

But fear not, Disney Junior fans! While the Animation Courtyard locations are getting a refresh, Vampirina, Fancy Nancy, and Doc McStuffins haven’t gone far. These fan-favorite characters have been relocated to the Echo Lake area, where they’ll continue greeting little ones (and kids at heart) daily starting at 12:30 p.m. So if you’re still hoping for that adorable photo op, be sure to check the My Disney Experience app for exact times and locations.

Meanwhile, the nearby Disney Junior Play and Dance! show is still spinning and singing for now—but not for long. The interactive dance party will temporarily close starting May 25, making way for something brand new just in time for summer break.
