It’s time to play the music… it’s time to light the lights… it’s time to take to the skies with the Muppets on the Disney Skyliner tonight! Walt Disney World has officially rolled out a hilarious new tribute to our favorite felt friends as part of the Muppets’ 70th anniversary celebration. That’s right—your next flight on the Skyliner might just include a very special cast of characters.

The brand-new Muppets-themed gondola joins the colorful fleet soaring above Walt Disney World Resort, and it’s decked out with commemorative decals honoring 70 years of Muppet mayhem. The exterior artwork makes it look like the Muppets are enjoying the ride right along with you—and naturally, they’ve claimed the best seats in the house.

On one side, you’ll find a joyful group including:

Fozzie Bear bringing the jokes
Miss Piggy serving diva realness with glam and pearls
Sam the Eagle looking appropriately unamused

Spin around to the side and you’ll see Kermit the Frog, banjo in hand, serenading the skies beneath a rainbow. (Go ahead and hum “The Rainbow Connection”—we know you want to.)

And what would a Muppets tribute be without some classic heckling? One end of the gondola features the balcony-bound comedy critics Statler and Waldorf, no doubt judging your vacation choices from above.

This special gondola, cabin number 244, proudly wears a green badge that reads “Muppets 70 Years” on the door side, honoring the debut of Sam and Friends back on May 9, 1955. That early TV experiment eventually evolved into the zany, heartwarming, and wildly imaginative Muppet crew we know today.

While Muppet*Vision 3D is set to take its final bow at Disney’s Hollywood Studios next month (to make way for the upcoming Monstropolis land), this Skyliner addition ensures the Muppets will still have a sky-high presence at the resort. And don’t worry- the Muppets will be back with a vengeance (and some rock ‘n’ roll) when they eventually take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Enterprise NCC-1701-D on a mission to prevent an interstellar threat. Guests find themselves transported to the year 2403, just as an otherworldly entity wreaks havoc on the ship. As the chaos ensues, guests will venture further into the Enterprise, navigating familiar Star Trek environments, from the ship’s engineering room to transporter pads, to the soul of the Starship Enterprise, the bridge—an original set piece featured in the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard—in a desperate quest to stop the perceived danger and restore peace aboard the ship. Laden with special effects, audio-visual effects, multi-sensory activations and themed performers, this all-original experience creates an unforgettable, awe-inspiring moment that elevates Star Trek fandom to new levels.

Back to the Future: Destination Hill Valley—This nostalgic experience is based on the 1985 Back to the Future blockbuster movie and invites guests to time travel back to 1955 Hill Valley alongside some of the film’s iconic characters. Time travel begins the moment guests climb aboard the Studio Tour “Fan Tram” and venture towards Courthouse Square, the original filming location for this classic film located on the Universal Studios world famous backlot.

Brimming with authenticity, Back to the Future: Destination Hill Valley pays homage to this groundbreaking film by inserting guests into many familiar scenes with iconic props. From Hill Valley with the original Lyon Estate monuments to the Time Machine on display, guests will have the sensation of going back in time as they partake in the energetic recreation of the Enchantment Under the Sea dance and Hill Valley Festival plus experience a stunning recreation of the Clock Tower lightning strike, sending Marty back to the future multiple times each event night.

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Secrets of Waterdeep—Inspired by the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game™, DUNGEONS & DRAGONS (D&D), this epic experience welcomes guests and fans to partake in a one-of-a-kind adventure and explore the fantastic world of D&D. Guests join the Harpers—a heroic spy network—to foil a plot by the legendary beholder Xanathar and save the city of Waterdeep.

In creating this unique experience, Universal Studios Hollywood is collaborating with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop to create the legendary beholder Xanathar that comes to life within DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Secrets of Waterdeep. For over 40 years, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop has been a world-renowned innovator in puppetry, animatronics and digital animation.

ONE PIECE: Grand Pirate Gathering—This unique experience is inspired by the long-running global hit anime series, One Piece, from creator Eiichiro Oda, that follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Crew, including Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji, on their quest to find “ONE PIECE,” the legendary treasure of the former King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger. The Grand Pirate Gathering transports guests into the series’ fictional world of pirates through an immersive and interactive experience, complete with iconic visuals and scenic environments that place fans at the heart of the action. Guests also have time to enjoy uplifting meet and greet opportunities with different characters and participate in themed interactive photo ops.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Hunger of the Cursed—This anime experience, inspired by a widely popular Japanese manga and its anime adaptation, follows high school student Yuji Itadori after he accidently becomes the host of a powerful curse and joins Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses. This epic adventure is transformed into an exciting film-based experience, which first debuted at Universal Studios Japan.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Guests and fans have a chance to further engage in the theme park’s immersive land with all-new magical creature interactions, including the opportunity to meet the Niffler, a Baby Dragon and a majestic Occamy. The centerpiece of the experience is the West Coast debut of the visually spectacular Hogwarts™ Always light projection show takes guests on a whimsical journey through a school year at Hogwarts. Weaving together unforgettable music and incredible moments of wizardry, Hogwarts Always will shine bright as it comes to life set against the majestic backdrop of Hogwarts™ castle.

Esteemed Disney Legend Martha Blanding to Address Cal State Fullerton Graduates

Disney Legend and accomplished author Martha Blanding, a proud Cal State Fullerton alumna, will be the featured speaker at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences commencement ceremony on May 21 at Titan Stadium. At the 8 a.m. event, she will also be honored with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, acknowledging her significant impact in her field. This ceremony is one of twelve taking place throughout Cal State Fullerton’s commencement week.

Martha Blanding’s five decades at Disneyland Resort (1971-2022) were marked by significant milestones. Rising from cast member to senior manager, she achieved numerous “firsts,” including becoming Disneyland’s first Black full-time tour guide and VIP hostess, and the first Black employee to retire with 50 years of service at The Walt Disney Company. Her groundbreaking career culminated in 2024 when she was named the first Black Disney Parks employee to be honored as an official Disney Legend.

Her inspiring journey is now captured in her best-selling memoir, “Groundbreaking Magic: A Black Woman’s Journey Through the Happiest Place on Earth.” Co-written with fellow CSUF alumnus Tim O’Day, the book recounts Blanding’s remarkable success story and her unique perspective on the cultural transformations within The Walt Disney Company throughout her impressive career.

“Martha Blanding is a trailblazer who has broken barriers and built bridges throughout her distinguished career,” said CSUF President Ronald S. Rochon. “From a tour guide to an executive leader at Disney, Martha’s journey is a powerful story of perseverance, brilliance and bold ambition. Her career and leadership exemplify the very best of our Titan spirit and values.”

Growing up in South Central Los Angeles and a graduate of John C. Fremont High School, Martha Blanding’s groundbreaking career began while she was a student at Cal State Fullerton. In 1971, she achieved a significant “first” by becoming Disneyland’s first Black full-time tour guide. Within a year, her exceptional abilities led to another “first” as a VIP hostess, where she welcomed a remarkable array of celebrities, including Diana Ross, Elton John, Cher, Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, and Bob Hope, as well as important government and international figures.

Her list of “firsts” continued in 1975 when Blanding became the first Black woman in management at Disneyland, starting as an associate buyer before rising to become the first Black female merchandise buyer for Disneyland and all Disney Parks. As senior manager of Disneyland’s merchandise special events, she orchestrated memorable occasions with prominent individuals like Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, Kurt Russell, Annette Funicello, and the creative forces behind Walt Disney Imagineering and animation.

Beyond her official roles, Martha was a proactive force for progress. In the early 1990s, she helped establish the official Disneyana Convention, a precursor to the popular D23 event. Recognizing a need for community, she also co-founded PULSE, a pioneering business employee resource group for Black Disneyland cast members, demonstrating her commitment to fostering inclusivity at a time when such initiatives were rare.

“I’m incredibly humbled and so very proud of this honor from my alma mater, Cal State Fullerton,” Blanding said. “In addition to so many fond memories of my days living in the CSUF dorms and taking classes that served me well in my professional life, it’s also where my Disney career was launched when Disneyland was on campus to recruit students to be cast members. It’s hard for me to convey how much this honor means to me, and I’m grateful for this opportunity to return to CSUF on such a special occasion for me and all the graduates.”

CSUF’s commencement ceremonies take place May 19-22 at the university’s Titan Stadium and intramural field.

That’s right — no park ticket, no problem. Whether you’re a Muggle on a mission or a casual wizarding fan making a pit stop, this is your new go-to spot to get your Butterbeer fix year-round.

New Butterbeer Counter Opens in Universal Citywalk

A Bar Worthy of the Three Broomsticks

Located in the newly expanded Wizarding World of Harry Potter section at the back of the store, the Butterbeer bar is a sight to behold. It’s-a here! Universal Orlando has officially leveled up CityWalk with the grand opening of a new Super Nintendo World store, and it’s bursting with color, character, and collectibles that would make even Bowser grin. As part of a major expansion to the Universal Studios Store, this dedicated section is a bold, bright celebration of all things Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Donkey Kong — just in time to get fans hyped for the Epic Universe grand opening on May 22!

From Quiet Flight to Mushroom Kingdom Might

What used to be the home of Cinnabon and Quiet Flight Surf Shop is now a full-throttle nostalgia trip for Nintendo lovers. This new first-floor takeover next to the Universal Cinemark has transformed the once-surf-themed area into a pixel-perfect paradise. Green warp pipes hang from the ceiling, and when you peer inside, you’ll discover these warp pipes are taking you directly to the Super Nitendo World Lands in Epic Universe, featuring Peach’s Castle, Yoshi’s Adventure, Mt. ‘it’s a small world’ Reopening at Disneyland Delayed

Disneyland guests eager to once again sail around the world on ‘it’s a small world’ will have to wait a little longer. The attraction’s reopening date has been delayed for a second time.

Originally aiming for an April return after its seasonal ‘it’s a small world Holiday’ overlay concluded, the reopening was then set for May 9th. Today’s update reveals a further postponement, with the current target reopening date now May 13, 2025.

The reopening of ‘it’s a small world’ will bring not only the familiar heartwarming message but also some exciting visual updates. Among the new additions are Miguel and his loyal companion Dante, who will appear as silhouettes against a breathtaking marigold bridge. As guests sail through this scene, they’ll hear the pair joining in the iconic song alongside the other children from around the globe.

The magic of ‘it’s a small world’ will be amplified even further later this year. Beyond the upcoming arrival of Miguel and Dante, July 17th will mark the debut of a special third verse added to the attraction’s unforgettable song. This new verse is a poignant addition, written by the late, great Richard Sherman, and was initially unveiled during Jolly Holiday: A Musical Celebration of Richard M. Sherman at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
