Disney World to Implement New and More Convenient Lost and Found Procedures Starting May 21st

Disney World to Implement New and More Convenient Lost and Found Procedures Starting May 21st

From Magic Bands to an incredible souvenir that you just picked up, no one likes losing items at Walt Disney World.  However, to minimize the stress when this happens, Disney World will implement a new Lost and Found system starting on May 21st that will make it easier than ever to be reunited with your lost belongings.

Later this month, visitors will be able to flag up any lost items by visiting Disneyworld.com/lostandfound.

Once the system is up and running, guests will be able to log any missing items and Disney Cast Members will start their search.  This means that locating something misplaced at Walt Disney World doesn’t have to eat into valuable theme park time.

This new Lost and Found log in system will be available across Walt Disney World including the theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs as well as ESPN Wide World of Sports.  For lost items at one of Disney’s onsite resorts, you should continue to reach out to the front desk for assistance.

Guests visiting the parks before May 21st that need to track down a lost item will need to follow the original procedures which vary by park and location and can be found here.

Readers are encouraged to keep following along with Chip and Co for the latest updates regarding the implementation of the new Lost & Found system.

Disney Announced Digital Food Channel Disney Eats

Digital Food Channel Disney Eats

Disney is taking on food! Disney announced a digital food channel Disney Eats at its annual NewFront, a presentation for advertisers of upcoming video content, last week.  This new online digital channel will feature culinary shows and products aimed at families and also includes an editorial site.

Think YouTube! Disney is moving in this to target young families who are part of a generation that grew up watching videos on platforms like YouTube. These parents are now looking for content for their children on online mediums and Disney plans to deliver.

You can check out a short video here:

Some of the shows planned for Disney Eats include seasons of “Kitchen Little,” where kids will be featured working with celebrity chefs, and “Tiny Kitchen,” with chefs creating small replicas of Disney food. “Kitchen Little” and “Tiny Kitchen”  were co-created with global entertainment company Tastemade.

Disney Eats will be part of the Disney Digital Network. Disney Digital Network was formerly know as  Maker Studios. Disney acquired it in 2014 for $500 million.

According to Disney, the new online food channel will keep the same health standards that the company previously imposed on advertisers. Back in 2012 Disney made efforts to ensure that food products advertised on their networks met specific nutritional standards.

Tastemade will have another series on the channel, a food science series called “Must Be Science.”  There will also be shows with Disney online influencers that will be announced at a later date.

All programs on this channel will be aimed at parents cooking with kids, or “co-cooking.”  When it comes to additional sources of revenue, Disney will sell branded products, including kitchen utensils, bakeware and cookbooks.

“Together Forever” Comes To Life Through Projections On Iconic Disneyland Park Locations

Together Forever

“Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” is lighting up the evening skies above Disneyland park during the first-ever Pixar Fest. Buzz Lightyear, more than 300 green Space Aliens, 10-foot-tall “Coco” characters from the Land of the Dead and many more Pixar favorites star in the newest fireworks show.

“Together Forever” Comes To Life Through Projections On Iconic Disneyland Park Locations

“Together Forever” connects guests to beloved Pixar stories as it lights up the sky over Disneyland Park. It comes to life with pyrotechnics, special effects, a new musical score and projections on iconic park locations. The grand tradition of Tinker Bell flying over Sleeping Beauty Castle also gets a Pixar twist, with a special flyover by Buzz Lightyear.

One unique aspect is that you can experience “Together Forever” from different viewing areas throughout Disneyland park. Watch from Sleeping Beauty Castle, ‘it’s a small world,’ Rivers of America or Main Street, U.S.A. for a different perspective of the multimedia spectacular!

“Together Forever” Fun Facts:

  • “Together Forever” celebrates the everlasting bonds of friendship between guests, as well as the friendships of beloved Pixar characters from all 19 Disney•Pixar films.
  • “Together Forever” opens with Buzz Lightyear, who flies 100 feet in the air above Sleeping Beauty Castle on a flight path that is 350 feet long.
  • As Buzz Lightyear takes flight, he opens the show with a new line of diaologue: “To friendship…and beyond!”
  • The fireworks for “Together Forever” were specifically developed and designed to enhance the projected images within the show and to match Pixar Animations Studios’ color palette.
  • “Together Forever” contains more than 900 separate fireworks effects, digitally controlled within 1/30 of a second.
  • An all-new musical score was recorded for “Together Forever.” The orchestra was composed of 101 musicians and 20 vocalists. The score features popular songs from Pixar films, in addition to iconic instrumental themes.
  • “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” the hit song by Randy Newman from Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story,” serves as the musical thread for the show. Guests will be inspired to sing along as this anthem becomes the rousing finale. This version of the song is a custom arrangement made specifically for “Together Forever.”
  • On Main Street, U.S.A., mapped projections bring the storytelling of “Together Forever” to life. The same technology is used for projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle and the façade of the “it’s a small world” attraction.
  • Each of the four viewing areas in the park – Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, Rivers of America and “it’s a small world” – feature custom effects that create a unique experience for guests at each location.
  • With the use of projection mapping, more than 300 Space Aliens from “Toy Story” appear on the façade of the buildings on Main Street, U.S.A., and Sleeping Beauty Castle during their moment in “Together Forever.” The adorable green Space Aliens also appear on the façade of the “it’s a small world” attraction.
  • Multiple laser beams project down Main Street, U.S.A., in the scene where the Incredibles battle the Omnidroid at Sleeping Beauty Castle. Lasers are also used at the Rivers of America viewing location.
  • The story heats up during a pivotal scene from “Toy Story 3,” as Sleeping Beauty Castle is flanked by six shooting flames that reach up to 30 feet in the air.
  • During the “Coco” adventure, 10 townspeople from the Land of the Dead appear on the rooftops of Main Street, U.S.A. Each of these characters stretches more than 10 feet tall and they join the animated mariachi and folklórico dancers projected on Main Street U.S.A., bringing to life a colorful fiesta.
  • The voice of Anthony Gonzalez, who played the lead role of Miguel in Disney•Pixar’s “Coco,” can be heard singing “The World Es Mi Familia” during the “Coco” adventure of “Together Forever.”
  • “The World Es Mi Familia” features authentic Mexican singers and musicians who play traditional mariachi instruments like the vihuela, guitar, and guitarrón.
  • Several objects have flown above Sleeping Beauty Castle in past nighttime spectaculars, and the largest one ever is in “Together Forever” – Carl Fredricksen’s House from Disney•Pixar’s film, “Up.”
  • Guests can look out for the Pizza Planet truck in “Together Forever.” Seen in “Toy Story,” the Pizza Planet truck also appears as an Easter Eggs hidden in most Pixar films.

Fun Facts About the Pixar Play Parade

Pixar Play Parade

The Pixar Play Parade made its return to the Disneyland Resort on April 13, 2018. This parade brings to life some of our favorite Pixar characters and stories including Up, Inside Out, Toy Story, The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life, Monster’s Inc, and Finding Nemo.

Pixar Play Parade

In celebration of the Pixar Play Parade, here are some fun facts about this Disneyland Resort favorite:

  • “Pixar Play Parade” originally premiered in 2008 at Disney California Adventure Park.
  • The Pixar Lamp and Ball from Pixar’s original short, “Luxo Jr.” now lead the parade in a larger-than-life fashion. The Lamp is 14 feet tall and the Pixar Ball is nearly four feet wide.
  • Guests will want to keep an eye out for Kevin, the friendly bird from “Up” who stands nearly 12 feet tall from her toes to the top of her feathers. The “Up” unit also features Carl Fredricksen and Dug, while Kevin (a puppet) romps through the parade with pal Russell riding on her back.
  • From the tip-top of the balloons, the Fredricksen house from “Up” flies 17 feet above the parade route.
  • New music accompanies the three new story elements in the parade. The Pixar Lamp and Ball roll down the parade route to a “Pixar Medley,” the “Inside Out” unit is accompanied by the “Main Theme” and “Bing Bong Song,” and the “Up” element brings guests a new rendition of “Spirit of Adventure.”
  • On the “Inside Out” unit, guests will recognize Riley’s rocket wagon. Nearly 280 memory orbs of all different emotions appear at the base of this element.
  • 120-plus performers and crew entertain guests, along with 8 units that represent several of the DisneyPixar animated films.
  • The longest float is “A Bug’s Life” at 45 feet.
  • More than 2,000 pieces and parts make up the performers’ costumes.
  • Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil, who wrote many of the songs for the successful “High School Musical” movies, wrote the original songs for “Pixar Play Parade”: “Countdown to Fun” and “The Party’s On.”
  • Michael Curry, the award-winning production designer and co-designer of “The Lion King” masks and puppets for Broadway, created several of the puppets in “Pixar Play Parade,” including the nearly 12-foot tall bird, Kevin who appears with his friend Russell (“Up”); Marlin, Nemo, Dory, Crush and Squirt (“Finding Nemo”); Roz (“Monsters, Inc.”); Aliens, Tinker Toy and Slinky Dog (“Toy Story”); the Omnidroid unit (“The Incredibles”) and Heilmlich (“A Bug’s Life”).
  • Baby Jack-Jack sits in one of the claws of the Omnidroid on “The Incredibles” float and, just like in the Pixar film, flames rise from his head when he gets excited.

Fly the Skies Disney Pixar Style: Alaska Airlines Unveils New Plane Featuring Artwork From Incredibles 2

Incredibles Alaska Air

Alaska Air has just released images of a brand new member of their fleet and we think you’ll agree that it’s pretty “Incredible!” Ahead of the highly anticipated release of Disney•Pixar’s Incredibles 2 on June 15th, this special-edition plane features everyone’s favorite superhero family.  The new addition to the fleet was unveiled to a crowd of over 2,000 students during Aviation Day at the airline’s Seattle hangar.

“This plane will delight guests of all ages from San Francisco to New York and beyond,” said Natalie Bowman, Alaska Airlines’ managing director of brand marketing and advertising. “Like all of us at Alaska Airlines, many of our guests have anxiously awaited Incredibles 2. We’re honored to take this incredible family to new heights and share the imagery with travelers across our expansive route network.”

The plane features the Parr family including Bob, Helen Violet, Dash and baby Jack-Jack decked out in their Incredible super suits in an image the spans the fuselage.  Guests boarding the plane will also see a logo when they board.  An image of the racoon from the film which is Jack-Jack’s nemesis will also delight guests sitting over the wings.

This fabulous design showcases the collaboration between Disney•Pixar and Alaska Airlines. The Incredibles 2-themed 737-800 with the tail number N519AS will begin flying throughout Alaska’s route network starting tomorrow (May 6, 2018).  With a cruising speed of 530 mph the plane will visit fans throughout the country including Hawaii.

Disney fans can follow @AlaskaAir on Twitter and facebook.com/alaskaairlines to learn about promotional activities leading up to the June 15 release of Incredibles 2.

This is one of several Disney themed planes we’ve seen spring up by Alaska Airlines over the years. Others include the “Spirit of Disneyland II,” launched in 2009; and the “Adventure of Disneyland Resort” Cars Land at Disney California Adventure plane, which made its debut in 2013.

Don’t miss your chance to fly the friendly skies aboard this stunning aircraft or to see the Parr family when they return to the big screen on June 15th.
