Price Increase for the Walt Disney World Refillable Resort Mugs

Refillable Resort Mugs

It looks like another price increase is coming to Walt Disney World, this time it’s the refillable resort mugs. The Walt Disney World Refillable Resort Mugs are a handy item for stays on property, and have their perks, but according to Disney Food Blog, the cost of them has now gone up.

The new cost of the mugs are now $18.99, and the refills are good for the entire length of your stay. That means regardless if you stay one night, or 10, you’ll only pay one flat free to enjoy unlimited refills for the entirety of your stay. The way the mug costs have worked have changed a lot over the years, so it’s really no surprise that they are increasing the cost again. Guests who are on the Dining Plan, will receive one of these mugs per-person on the dining plan at no additional cost. With the new changes coming to the dining plan for 2018, it’s definetly worth checking out.

Disney Receives 35 Annie Award Nominations

The Walt Disney Company recently received 35 nominations for the 45th Annual Annie Awards. These awards recognized the year’s best in the field of animation.

The Disney Television Animation earned 14 nods, including six for the Mickey Mouseshorts and four for Tangled: The Series. The Pixar Animation Studios received 15 nominations, including 13 for the popular Coco. Walt Disney Animation Studios garnered three nominations for Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Additionally, Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the Avatar Flight of Passage attraction from Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom each received one nomination.

Take A Look Into The Grand Californian’s Reimagined Club Level Lounge: The Veranda

Disney’s Grand Californian Resort has recently undergone several renovations. The final phase of the renovations included a reimagined Club Level Lounge. Formerly known as The Craftsman’s Club, The Veranda is located on the sixth floor near the Great Hall elevators and offers complimentary refreshments in an exclusive, relaxing setting. Since the lounge just reopened to club-level guests, here’s a closer look at the new, sophisticated space.

Although Disney’s Grand Californian pays homage to the California Arts and Crafts movement, the new design for The Veranda draws inspiration from the architectural and furniture designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a visionary of the Arts and Crafts movement in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Walt Disney Imagineering specifically drew inspiration from the Mackintosh-designed Willow Tea Rooms in Glasgow, with its contemporary and elegant approach. Like the Willow Tea Rooms, we used white-based colors to make the space seem light, airy and spacious. A special feature is the new wall-to-wall windows, which open onto the balcony and bring in natural light and views of the tree tops. As you can imagine, The Veranda is the perfect spot to watch evening fireworks!

The furniture design is also very architectural in style with streamlined shapes and a light color palette. The lighting fixtures and buffet wall incorporate beautiful stained glass, which is also reminiscent of the Willow Tea Rooms.

The Veranda’s artwork celebrates craftsmen, nature and the hand made. Since we focused on the Mackintosh style for this lounge, contemporary European artists were commissioned to create custom pieces for the space. This is unique to The Veranda, as all other art pieces throughout the hotel are by California-based artists.

Walt Disney Imagineering also collaborated with artists from Amsterdam to transform a wall in the lounge with a custom 10-foot long painted ceramic arrangement. The handmade, vintage plates and platters have been revived with a Disney motif—the iconic landscape of redwoods from Disney’s “Brother Bear.”

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

Here is our first look at Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, thanks to Entertainment Weekly.

In this upcoming film, set to be released next year, 17-year old Mackenzie Foy plays Clara, who is brainy and bold in this vibrant adaptation directed by Lasse Hallström. “She’s very smart and independent,” says Foy. “She loves to think and find the fastest way to solve a problem.”

To retrieve a lost, magical key that will open a priceless gift from her mother, Clara must travel across the Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers, and Land of Sweets. It is in the Land of Sweets that she meets the fascinating Sugar Plum Fairy, played by Keira Knightley.

But there is an unease and trepidation in the Fourth Realm, ruled by Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren). “She’s a fierce character,” Mirren says, “with a modern edge.”

But don’t worry classic Nutcracker fans, you’ll recognize the nod to Tchaikovsky’s score and will enjoy a ballet sequence featuring Misty Copeland.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms opens in theaters November 2, 2018.

Dubbed “Kakamora Chaos with Moana” this special offering takes place at Aunty’s Beach House where Moana is eager to learn about her new friends, the mischevious Kakamore, and the games they play. During the interactive 90-minute event, young guests will learn to play children’s games from Hawai’i as well as a game from Moana’s home island of Motunui called the Kakamora Relay.

In addition, guests can also spend time with Moana and Aulani’s beloved storyteller “Uncle” as they share the importance of the canoe – or wa’a- during Kahakai Canoe Racing. This fun interactive activity concludes after building a canoe model and racing in the lagoon!

In the evenings, families can also join Moana and Uncle near the fire pit as they recount tales of adventure during Mo’olelo Firepit Storytelling. Moana is also now making special appearances at the KA WA‘A lū‘au During the pre-show Moana pays homage to the incredible journey the Hawaiian people made across the ocean.

Aulani visitors should note that advanced reservations should be made for Kakamora Chaos at the Aulani Central Reservation Center by calling 808.674.6200. There is an additional charge for all premium experiences.

The harness features an impressive decorative piece called a “Scotch Top” along with inlays of leather and Disneyland motifs.

It’s always a special day when we get to see these special harnesses. They are made for single horses to wear and usually the Circle D horses pull in pairs. The Labor Day parade was a special event where multiple horses were out representing the Disneyland resort and “Chief” was the lucky horse that was chosen to wear the “Scotch Top” special harness.
