Registration is Now Open for the Brick Dash 5K at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort on April 14th

LEGOLAND Brick Dash 5K

You won’t want to miss this fun family fitness event, benefiting Global Children’s Charity Merlin’s Magic Wand at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort!

Registration is now open for 2018’s Brick Dash 5K Presented by Publix®, the popular Central Florida run/walk set for Saturday, April 14 at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort.

Held in association with Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing, the family fitness event benefits Merlin’s Magic Wand, the global children’s charity of LEGOLAND parent company Merlin Entertainments Group.

The fun begins at 7 a.m. with a 5K race that sends runners winding their way through LEGOLAND Florida Resort, including the famous Cypress Gardens area, followed at 8 a.m. with a half-mile “fun run” for kids. Favorite LEGO® characters like Emmet, Wyldstyle, Benny, Kai, Nya and Master Wu will cheer runners and walkers of all ages during both races.

Online registration is $35 per person (plus processing fee) for all 5K participants and “virtual” runners. Fun run registration is limited to children 3-12 and is $25 per person online (plus processing fee). A special family registration option is available by mail for $99, and includes 5K registration for two adults and fun run registration for two children.

All 5K participants and virtual runners will receive a Brick Dash T-shirt, a goodie bag of sponsor material and a special LEGO® brick medal designed by LEGOLAND Master Model Builders. Fun run participants will receive a Brick Dash T-shirt, a goodie bag of sponsor material and a collectible LEGO brick commemorating the event. T-shirts and medals are guaranteed only for registrations received by March 30. Winners in each division also will receive a one-of-a-kind LEGO trophy.

Starting today, Brick Dash fans can vote for the final medal design on the official LEGOLAND Florida Resort Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ LEGOLANDFlorida.

Brick Dash 5K Presented by Publix benefits Merlin’s Magic Wand, a worldwide charity that helps seriously ill, disabled and disadvantaged children and their families enjoy a magical day out at more than 120 Merlin Entertainments attractions around the globe. For those unable to visit a Merlin attraction, the organization creates whimsical Merlin’s Magic Spaces in community facilities that serve the needs of children.

Big news Star Wars and Marvel Fans! Disney Cruise Line has just announced that their two popular itineraries Star Wars Day at Sea and Marvel Day at Sea will be returning in 2019. These epic itineraries will be enjoyed across two Disney ships sailing through the Caribbean and Bahamas.

Star Wars Day At Sea

From January to early March, 2019, special seven-night Disney Fantasy sailings will transport guests to the Caribbean and a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars Day at Sea is an experience unlike any other where guests can celebrate the legendary adventures and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga with Jedi, Wookiees, droids, Stormtroopers, and others during the special day-long celebration.
The cruise features a full day of Star Wars activities including a deck party spectacular with an extraordinary fireworks display, encounters with the galaxy’s most formidable and heroic characters, Star Wars-themed family and youth activities, unique food and beverage offerings and special merchandise.

New Menu Items Now Available at ESPN Wide World of Sports Concession Stands

Recently ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort opened a brand-new 8,000 seat arena to host a variety of major indoor sporting events including basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, cheerleading and more. With this comes a new treat for Disney Foodies. ESPN Wide World of Sports houses seven concession stands and 35 carts and kiosks. This week they unveiled a tasty new menu offering items perfect for enjoying courtside.

Savory highlights include classic favorites like soft pretzels, donut-breaded chicken nuggets and personal pan pizzas with a variety of toppings.

There’s also more eclectic items like pork or chicken tacos with pico de gallo and avocado crema or loaded tater barrels topped with cheese, sour cream, bacon and chives.

If a burger is more your style, guests will find both hamburgers and cheeseburgers. A new item that is sure to please is the Frita Cubana Burger that comes with a chorizo beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce tomato, pickle, ketchup, mayo, mustard and fried potato sticks. Or for those in the mood for something a bit different, tuck into the chicken and waffle sandwich with bacon and chipotle or maple mayo served with tasty tater barrels. Classic Meatball Subs will also be on offer.

For those with a sweet tooth, the arena also serves favorites like churros, milkshakes and cheesecake push pops.

Did someone say Dole Whips? It’s true! You don’t have to head to the Polynesian or Magic Kingdom to enjoy one of these tasty treats. Rather, you’ll find this delicious pineapple soft serve on the concessions menu at ESPN Wide World of Sports!

Be on the lookout for the amazing treats on our list next time you pay a visit to the Wide World of Sports Arena. I come from a family of chefs and cooks. My Dad is a chef, my grandfather trained with Paul Bocuse, and I even married a chef. So needless to say we love quality kitchen and cookware. Being the total Disney Addict I am, it’s safe to say I am obsessed with the new Mickey Mouse Le Creuset Dutch Oven and stoneware ramekins.

The new Disney collection from William Sonoma features all of the amazing quality and features we have come to know and love from Le Creuset, but with a dash of Disney flair.

The new Mickey Mouse Le Creuset Dutch Oven is Gorgeous

The Mickey Le Creuset versatile Dutch oven is a versatile piece of cookware, that features Mickey designs all around, and is topped off with a Mickey design on the handle . The Dutch ovens are made from even-heating cast iron that lend to even and delicious cooking for slow simmer stews, casseroles, braises and much more. Le Creuset is a high end brand, but I really feel their Dutch ovens and cookware are worth every penny.

The stoneware ramekins from Le Creuset are one of my favorite items in the kitchen. So, Mickey shapes ones… can we say YES PLEASE? These ramekins are shaped like the iconic cartoon character created by Walt Disney in 1928. Not only do these add a touch of whimsy to the kitchen, they are incredibly versatile. I love that they are two different colors, one in red and one in black. The different colors are a great way for distinguishing recipes made with different ingredients, and also for decorating when entertaining. I use my stoneware ramekins for everything from small pies, mini casserole bakes, individual meat loafs, soufflés, and even small cakes. Now with a Mickey shape, these favorite dishes will be tasty, and adorable! You can even use these dishes for serving warm dips at a party.

We happened to swing by a Publix in the Orlando area today and noticed you can now purchase your discounted Florida Resident Walt Disney World tickets right in the popular grocery store. We also have seen the discounted Florida Resident tickets at Target and Winn Dixie and seem to be available at these retailers throughout the state.

The Discover Disney tickets are only available for Florida Residents and offer a substantial savings off the regular park ticket rates.

Construction Walls Up at Main Street U.S.A in Disneyland

As we reported earlier this month, Disneyland Resort reported that they will be replacing the tracks in Disneyland theme park used by the Main Street Vehicles. From posts shared by guests to Disneyland this morning, it looks like this project is well underway. Guests arriving at the theme park were greeted by construction walls encompassing a considerable part of Main Street.

As you can see from @hastin, it would appear that the park has erected two different sections of walls along Disneyland’s main walkway to separate the visitors from the work being carried out. This includes the Town Square entrance of the park as well as surrounding the statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse.

While sections of the Main Street U.S.A track have been replaced before, this is the first time a complete replacement has been scheduled. The refurbishment will incorporate new brickwork that will enhance the look of the iconic thoroughfare. The pieces of original track that remain will be salvaged and preserved. The previously updated pieces of track will be recycled.

There’s no word yet on a completion date. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with Chip and Co. for the latest updates regarding this and other Disneyland refurbishments happening in the weeks and months ahead.

125,000 Disney Employees to Receive $1000 Cash Bonus

Bob Iger, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at The Walt Disney Company announced today that more than 125,000 employees will receive a one-time cash bonus of $1000. In addition, the Company will be investing $50 million in new and ongoing education programs designed to cover tuition costs for hourly employees. Both new initiatives are a result of the recently enacted tax reform.

Iger had this to say of the initiative, “I am proud we are directing approximately $125 million to our cast members and employees across the country and making higher education more accessible with the launch of this new program,” He went on to say. “I have always believed that education is the key to opportunity; it opens doors and creates new possibilities. Matched with the $1,000 cash bonus, these initiatives will have both an immediate and long-term positive impact.”

All full and part-time non-executive employees that are hourly or salaried and have been with the Company since January 1, 2018, and are based in the United States will be paid this one-time $1000 cash bonus. The bonus will be distributed in two payments. The first payment will be distributed in March and the second in September of this year. Disney advised that they will also be working with union representatives regarding potential distribution plans for employees that are currently working under existing contracts.

The new education initiative will be aimed at the Walt Disney Company’s hourly workforce. Nearly 88,000 hourly employees will be eligible for the program. Under the new plan, participants can pursue qualifying higher education or vocational training including courses that related to their current roles at Disney. By creating new opportunities for those wishing to continue their education, employees will have the ability to advance their current roles or support their long-term career goals. Disney announced that after the initial $50 million investment, Disney will provide up to $25 million in annual funding going forward.
