Party At The Contemporary Resort At Walt Disney World This New Year's Eve

Looking for a great way to spend your New Year’s Eve this holiday season? Look no further than Disney’s Contemporary Resort. With two different incredible parties to choose from, the Contemporary Resort is the place to be! Will you be attending the Pixar Party: A New Year’s Eve Celebration (recommended for families) or Disney Countdown to Midnight (recommended for adults without kids) that includes a VIP option?

The Pixar Party: A New Year’s Eve Celebration will be from 8 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. This family friendly party will feature a welcome from Sarge, one of the army men from Toy Story, on the second floor of the resort. Once inside,  guests will discover spaces that have been transformed with scenes from beloved Pixar movies.

Highlights of the evening include:

  • Being enveloped in the worlds of various Disney•Pixar films, like “Inside Out,” “The Incredibles,” “Finding Nemo” and “Up,” including meeting some of your favorite characters.
  • Kids’ activities, including Boot Camp with Sarge, Pixar Face Painting and a balloon artist creating favorite Pixar characters.
  • An interactive DJ spinning Radio Disney hits from his Cars-inspired DJ Rig, complete with tires and road signs right out of Radiator Springs.
  • A delicious buffet dinner, including Woody’s Favorite Lemon Thyme Chicken Breast, Wall-E’s Pan Seared Mahi-Mahi, Rex’s Manhattan Filet, Sulley’s Beast White Cheddar Baked Mac & Cheese, build-your-own salad options, desserts, kids’ favorites like chicken fingers and more.
  • A viewing of the famous Magic Kingdom New Year’s Eve fireworks.

For adults without kids, we recommend the Disney Countdown to Midnight event. It will also be held from 8 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. Guests can dress up and have a magical evening of dining, dancing and enchantment in the Fantasia Ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Some of the features will include a Mickey Mouse mirror ball and Disney Character topiaries. There will also be a high-energy New Year’s Bash Band and a live DJ providing music all night long.

Other highlights of the evening include:

  • A “cheftainment” station featuring a seasonal menu inspired by some Disney Signature Dining restaurants – with a touch of Disney magic.
  • A special appearance by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
  • At the end of the night, guests will be invited out to the porte cochère, where they will receive a Champagne flute and welcome 2019 with a viewing of the famous Magic Kingdom New Year’s Eve fireworks.
  • Tickets are $275, including tax and gratuity. To purchase tickets, call (407) WDW-DINE.

For guests attending the Disney Countdown to Midnight party, they have the option to add on a VIP enhancement. The Ink and Paint Club experience will be held from 7 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. It will be located adjacent to the Fantasia Ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.  At the Ink and Paint Club, guests will step back in time into a vintage Disney Animation-inspired room. It will feature silver Chiavari chairs, metallic tables and references to classic Disney Animation. Ticketed guests can visit the lounge during the evening, starting with a featured reception from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Highlights of this special reception include:

  • Photo opportunities with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse with a unique Disney Animation backdrop.
  • A pianist providing live entertainment.
  • Chef stations featuring king crab, tuna tartare, sheep’s milk ricotta gnocchi, cocktails, Champagne, cordials and more – all included with admission.
  • Reserved seating in the Disney Countdown to Midnight Party when it opens at 8 p.m.
  • Disney Ink & Paint Club is only available as a part of an enhanced ticket that includes access to both the Disney Countdown to Midnight and the Ink & Paint Club for $450 total per guest. Access to Ink & Paint Club must be purchased concurrently with the Disney Countdown to Midnight ticket and cannot be added on at a later date.

Pastry Chef Stefie Suzie just shared on her Instagram page her latest creation, the Stitch Cupcake! This adorable confectionary masterpiece is topped with Blue Raspberry Frosting, candy pearls, and blue fondant Stitch ears.

You can find the Stitch cupcake (and Pastry Chef Suzie) at the End Zone Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. We haven’t made it over to the resort yet but normally specialty cupcakes are priced at $5.99 or they are available for a Snack Credit on the Disney Dining Plan. This is definitely on our Must Try list, how about you?

Billy Dee Williams Returns to “Star Wars: Episode IX”

Last month I wrote about a popular rumor of Billy Dee Williams returning to “Star Wars: Episode IX”. Well it has been confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter that he will be returning to his original role as Lando Calrissian. This is exciting!

Rumors went swirling about Williams when he bowed out of an upcoming sci-fi and pop culture convention regarding a conflict with a movie schedule. That’s when sources confirmed that the galactic gambler would indeed be returning to a galaxy far, far away- for the first time since 1983 in Return if the Jedi. The Lando Calrissian character made his suave debut in 1980’s Empire Strikes Back.

Episode IX is being directed by J.J. Abrams and will reunite Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver, among others. Keri Russell is one of the new additions to the cast. The film is set to open Dec. 20, 2019.

OpenTable Releases It's Top 100 Best Al Fresco Restaurants In America

OpenTable is a great resource for finding and making dining reservations. They even include select Walt Disney World Resort restaurants as well. With the summer season in full swing, OpenTable has revealed it’s top 100 Al Fresco restaurants in America.

The 100 Best Al Fresco Restaurants in America list was put together based on more than 12 million verified OpenTable diner reviews. These reviews came from more than 27,000 restaurants in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. That data was collected between May 1, 2017 and April 30, 2018. All restaurants had to have a minimum “overall” score and number of qualifying reviews to be considered. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of reviews for which “outdoor dining” was selected as a special feature.

22 states had restaurants that made this list, with California and Florida ranking highest. The Walt Disney World Resort had one stand out Al Fresco restaurant on the list as well.

The Boathouse, located in Disney Springs, is a great place to savor the best of land and sea. They offer fresh seafood, a raw bar, premium steaks, chops and a fun kids’ menu. Serving day-boat, line-caught seafood and USDA-Certified Gibsons Blue Star Heritage Angus Beef, the Boathouse also features a more casual outdoor menu with an emphasis on sandwiches, burgers and of course lobster rolls!

A recent tweet by Brie Larson, academy award winning actress and star of Matvel’s first female-led superhero movie, confirms that she has wrapped up filming “Captain Marvel”.

In true Marvel fashion, we know very little about “Captain Marvel”. The only subtle hint we have is a very brief cameo post-credits of “Avengers: Infinity War”.

“Captain Marvel” is set to release March 8, 2019.

Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) directed the film.

Were you wondering where Captain Marvel was in the recent “Avengers” Infinity War”? I’m sure diehard marvel fans were. She never made an appearance, but the post credits scenes hinted she may be making an appearance next year in the new Avengers film. Captain Marvel’s standalone film is slated to release in March 2019, two months prior to the (tentative) release of the unnamed forth Avengers movie.

Spitting Stitch at World of Disney

Experiment 626 returned to the World of Disney store in Disney Springs back in May! Guests everywhere were disappointed when Stitch was removed a few months ago. Not only is he cute and fluffy, he also ‘spit’ on guests passing by, making him an attraction all on his own.

When Stitch was first returned to the store, he wasn’t spitting water on Guests, and everyone hoped it was just due to construction. The World of Disney was experiencing some magical enhancements to the store’s interior. At right time the store was scaled down tremendously to allow for the construction work to take place. To make up for the loss of store space, Every After Jewelry Co and The Corner Store was carrying the merchandise from World of Disney temporarily.

Well I am happy to report Stitch is back up to his mischievous ways and once again spitting on Guests as they walk by. So watch your heads as you walk under Stitch!

We are learning of a tragic accident at the Walt Disney World Resort this morning near Pop Century Resort. According to reports, a Cast Member has passed away.

Disney World Cast Member Dies in Tragic Accident

Authorities are still working to find out what happened. The Walt Disney World Resort issued a statement, “All of use at Walt Disney World Resort are deeply saddened…by the loss of one of our Cast Members… This is a tragic accident.”

 

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the Cast Member. We will update once we have more information.
