We have been enjoying all of the excitement this weekend at Pixar Fest, but we did take a break to investigate the construction progress being made at Pixar Pier. It’s amazing how far the work has come but it makes sense with the opening date scheduled right around the corner on June 23rd.
The biggest change that we saw is that the Pixar Pier logo is now installed on the newly themed Incredicoaster.
We were watching as Disney’s crew was busy finishing up the paint job.
The Incredicoaster “scream” tubes are now a bright shiny red!
The Incredicoaster station is also progressing along. You can see the finished product in the below artist’s rendering…
Mickey’s Fun Wheel is also getting a makeover, with each of the 24 gondolas featuring different Pixar characters. The previous gondolas have all been removed for the time being. But don’t worry, the iconic face of Mickey Mouse will remain on the Paradise Bay side of the wheel.
Ariel’s Grotto restaurant and the Cove Bar are being transformed into a new location called “Lamplight Lounge” which will eventually offer sparkling views of Paradise Bay and the new Pixar Pier.
Both locations officially closed Jan. 8, but Cove Bar has briefly reopened until the end of May before closing again for its permanent transformation.
Paradise Gardens, Silly Symphony Swings, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, Goofy’s Sky School, Golden Zephyr and The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, will all eventually be transformed into a new land called Paradise Park.

Just last year it was confirmed that Club 33 Lounges would be coming to the four Walt Disney World Parks. Since then, we have been sharing periodic updates on the status of the construction at each of the four Lounges.
We swung by the future site of the Magic Kingdom Club 33 location over the weekend, which is located in Adventureland, and noticed that a second floor is being added to the structure. This is exciting news as the addition of the second floor will give Guests an amazing view of Cinderella’s Castle and the night Happily Ever After Fireworks Spectacular!
Here a look at the action:
In Animal Kingdom, the Club 33 Lounge is rumored to be located in the space over the Dinosaur attraction, formerly known as the corporate McDonald Lounge. At Epcot, the Club 33 location is supposed to be set up in the former Chase Card Members Longe inside the American Adventure Pavilion. Finally, the Club 33 Hollywood Studios location is located in the old Cat Walk Bar above the Brown Derby Restaurant. Online reports also indicate that the Hollywood Studios location is already open for Guests while the Epcot location will be open shortly. The Magic Kingdom location is not expected to open until over the Summer.
The first Club 33 was opened by Walt Disney himself inside the New Orleans Square area at Disneyland Park in 1967. Since then, additional Lounges were also built at Shanghai Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland. Club 33 Memberships include access to special events, early morning access to Disney Parks, and of course access to private Lounges…. for a cost! Corporate memberships are reported to require a $40,000 initiation fee where individual memberships start at a $25,000 initiation fee. Membership dues are rumored to be around $10,000 a year.
Have you ever been inside a Club 33 Lounge?

When the Incredibles debuted in 2004, the adventure came to an edge-of-your-seat finale, Syndrome was defeated as his jet exploded destroying the Parr family home. But the family was more bonded more than ever. Violet showed off her new found confidence and Dash got to compete in school sports and discovered that second place is just as good as first. It seemed like a happily-ever-after ending until the Underminers declared war!
Nearly over a decade later, we will finally learn the fate of the Underminers when ‘Incredibles 2‘ opens in theatres on June 15.
During a recent trip to Pixar Animation Studios, Chip and Co. were invited to take an advance look at ‘Incredibles 2‘ and hear from the Animators and the process of how this movie was made.
The Incredibles introduced Pixar’s first entire cast of humans but the technology at the had some limitations. The filmmakers didn’t want their humans to look too human. With Incredibles 2, the original art was referenced to create the look with today’s technology. The results were spectacular. Check out the progressions of images below for a scene that was created with updated animation technology.
All the natural phenomena seen in this final image above, such as the dust, smoke, and glow of Violet’s orb, were brought to life by the Effects department. Effects artists create these elements using complex simulation software that models the physics of how certain materials move. These Effects elements provide a believable and tangible sense of interaction between the characters and their rich, realistic world, which also helps to reinforce the emotional stakes for the audience.
In the original movie, fans fell for the characters in The Incredibles. They also enjoyed the mid-century world of the film. Since ‘Incredibles 2’ picks up where the first film left off, the look is back and thanks to the advances in technology, it’s even better.
According to writer/director Brad Bird, the nostalgic look is reminiscent that sparked his imagination back when the first film was in development. From the architecture to the cars on the streets to the actual characters themselves, the film invokes a 50s vibe with a small futuristic twist. Now since the Parr’s home was destroyed in the first movie, the animators needed to design a new house for them. They wanted something original and on a much larger scale with state of the art technology and a heavily caricatured look.
Here’s an early look at a concept for the new house:
The result was a 38,000 square foot home that features multiple rooms and unusual architect. The high-tech house is animated and is completely unpredictable.
The filmmakers played with a variety of over-the-top gadgets, water features and a floor that movies like a sliding puzzle. It’s unlike any other house you’ve seen before. The city Municiberg, which is the hometown of many of the characters can be anytown U.S.A. There are no familiar identifying landmarks that place it anywhere specific.
‘Incredibles 2’ welcomes back to the big screen the family of supers that audiences enjoyed back in 2004 as well as old favorites like Lucius Best (Frozone) and Edna “E” Mode. The movie also introduces new characters to its super mix from billionaire folks to wannabe heroes, which creates a dynamic cast of of characters all brought to live by an all-star voice talent.
We will have more behind-the-scenes of ‘Incredibles 2’ in the coming months. Make sure to visit us often for more updates. Also don’t forget to watch the latest trailer (below).
Disney is known for its intricate and beautifully designed topiaries throughout the grounds of their parks and resorts. We found some fun and artistic takes on the animated Disney-Pixar film characters in Downtown Disneyland during Pixar Fest. Generally the topiary designs are made from live plants where as these are artificial but mixed among the live plants. Above you can see designs modeling Woody and Jessie from Toy Story with the Pixar clouds behind them.
Some fun bubbles and Bruce the Shark from Finding Nemo brighten up this space in from of Tortilla Joes.
We found Nemo! Here he is swimming with Marlin and Dory among the bubbles.
Buzz Lightyear and his little green alien buddies are planning their attack on Emperor Zurg.
Anyone want to take Bullseye for a ride? Isn’t this a cute display among more of the Pixar clouds?
Last but certainly not least are The Incredibles! The Parr family are brought to life in simplistic geometric designs to brighten another section of Downtown Disneyland.
Keep checking back as we continue to bring you photos and news updates live from Pixar Fest!
