Orlando International Airport To Utilize Biometrics for International Travel

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is lined up to the best first U.S. airport to fully utilize biometrics for international travel.

The vision of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) is to continue to innovate operations which enhance the guest experience and customer service. As part of fulfilling that mission, the board approved $4 million in funding to integrate the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Biometric Entry and Exit Program. This system will utilize biometrics for international travel screenings.

The Orlando International Airport will utilize facial recognition technology to quicken the exit and entry process, thus smoothing the way for the six million+ international travelers passing through MCO each year.

The system has been in the testings phase over the past several months and “Together, CBP and GOAA are going to change the face of travel making it more secure and efficient.”

MCO will begin with implementing the system at CBP checkpoints for arriving international passengers and also at the international departure gates.

This is how the Orlando International Airport will utilize the new system:

Entering the Country

How the Entry process works:

CBP retrieves traveler photos from government databases
A gallery of expected travelers is created
CBP captures a photo of the traveler at the inspection booth
The photo is matched to a photograph in the pre-assembled gallery
Once verified, CBP conducts inspections determining the purpose and intent of travel
Upon completion, travelers are directed to baggage claim or sent for further inspection

Exiting the Country

CBP generates images (passport and visa photos) of travelers for a given flight and stores them in the Virtual Private Cloud
Travelers approach the gate and stand for a photo
The service verifies the travelers’ identify by comparing the photos
Once verified, the passenger may board the aircraft

All that’s left is for the Orlando City Council to approve the funding of this unbudgeted program. Then we may start to see the big changes at the Orlando International Aiport.

Bob Iger Dedicates Disney Murals at Children’s Hospital

A series of Disney murals at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa was recently dedicated by The Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO, Bob Iger.

The Disney murals line the hallway to the Pediatric Emergency room located within the hospital. Over 100 of Disney’s animated characters are featured in the colorful mural in hopes of bring a little comfort to little patients and their families.

“By sharing our timeless stories that bring comfort, happiness and inspiration to kids and their families during stays at hospitals, we are delivering a little bit of Disney magic to those that need it most,” Iger said.

Mr. Iger also shared a “little” announcement during his visit, that Disney would be making an additional $100,000 donation to the Child Life Department at Blank Children’s Hospital.

The Walt Disney Company has been a long-time supporter of the Blank Children’s Hospital. In 1944, the founder A.H. and Anna Blank, approached Walt himself about bring a touch of “magic” to the hospital. A series of murals were painted in the hospital’s playroom including characters from Disney classics such as Snow White, Pinocchio and Bambi. Great care has been taken to preserve the original murals at Blank Children’s Hospital, where they can still be seen today.

Joonas Suotamo Pays a Visit to Hollywood Studios

Joonas Suotamo recently paid a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check out the Star Wars attractions within the park.

In the upcoming film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Joonas Suotamo plays the role of Chewbacca, Han Solo’s right hand “man” and furry co-pilot.

The visit was prompted by the upcoming release of the film as well as the Star Wars: Galactic Nights event being held at Hollywood Studios on May 27th. Joonas Suotamo explored the park’s Star Wars offerings including his favorite, Star Tours- The Adventures Continue.

Joonas Suotamo will be featured as a celebrity guest at this year’s Star Wars: Galactic Nights event, where he will share his experience working on the film. Some lucky attendees will even have the chance to ask “Chewy” some of their own questions.

Blank Children’s Hospital Disney Themed Murals Dedicated by Bob Iger

Blank Children’s Hospital Disney themed murals are adding a bit of magic for pediatric patients and their visitors.

The Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger made a trip to Des Moines, Iowa recently to visit the Blank Children’s Hospital. While there he dedicated a series of Disney themed murals that will adorn the hallway entrance to the hospital’s Pediatric Emergency room. These murals will feature over 100 beloved Disney characters from animated films.

“By sharing our timeless stories that bring comfort, happiness and inspiration to kids and their families during stays at hospitals, we are delivering a little bit of Disney magic to those that need it most,” Iger said. “Our hope is that the presence of our beloved characters will make an unfamiliar place a little more comfortable for young patients and less stressful for their families.”

An additional donation of $100,000 to support the hospital’s child life department was announced by Mr. Iger during his visit.

The connection between The Walt Disney Company and the Blank Children’s Hospital is long-standing. In fact, it stretches back to Walt himself. Hospital founders A.H. and Anna Blank, who were themselves in the movie theater business, wanted to bring a little Disney magic to the hospital so they approached Walt in 1944. Snow White, Bambi and Pinocchio were just some of the characters featured by Disney artists in a series of murals for the hospital’s playroom. These original murals have been carefully preserved at Blank Children’s Hospital, where they continue to greet patients and families today.

UP! A Great Bird Adventure

On April 22nd a new show is flying into Disney’s Animal Kingdom. UP! A Great Bird Adventure is making its official park debut on Earth Day – and also the park’s 20th anniversary. In this new, 25-minute show, bird experts will be joined by Senior Wilderness Explorer Russell and his furry pal Dug from Disney•Pixar’s animated hit film UP. Together they will put on a show featuring encounters with birds from around the world.

Here are a few wild facts about this new show!

1. From toucans and parrots to macaws, and an African fish eagle with a magnificent 7-foot wingspan, over 15 species of birds make an appearance in this show.

2. When it came to the training and rehearsal need to bring this show to the stage there were twenty animal trainers involved in. Four trainers work with the birds and the actors during every performance.

3. This is a unique experience led by an avian enthusiast and bird experts. Guests will get a close-up look at bird species from South America, North America, India, Africa, and other locations around the globe.

4. Themes from DisneyPixar’s UP are featured in the original, authentic Indian musical score.

5. This show will mark the first time that Russell and Dug from DisneyPixar’s UP appear onstage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

6. The goal of the production team is to showcase beloved Disney characters and the amazing natural behavior of birds. They want to inspire guests to connect with nature.

Disney and Dolby’s theatrical collaboration has extended as 20 new Disney films have been added to the list of movies to be shown in Dolby cinemas.

These films include both animated and live-action titles from Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, Pixar, and Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Amazon has recently added some of the Star Wars and Marvel Cinematic Universe movie on it’s Amazon Prime exclusives list. Only members of Amazon Prime will be able to purchase the titles on DVD or Blu-ray format.

These titles exclusive for Amazon Prime members include The Force Awakens, Rogue One and The Last Jedi of the Star Wars franchise. Marvel films will include Ant-Man, The Avengers, Captain America: First Avenger, Winter Soldier, Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Iron Man 3, Spiderman: Homecoming, Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. Non Prime members will still be able to purchase Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 2.

Amazon has used the practice of reserved titles for Prime members in the past, in order to boost it’s Prime memberships which are available for $99 per year and also include 2 day Prime shipping on most orders. Audrey is back for Descendants 3! The beautiful and prim daughter of Aurora (“Sleeping Beauty”) will once again be played by Sarah Jeffery in the third movie in this much loved trilogy!

The role of fan favorite, Audrey, was originated by Sarah in Descendants and only referenced in the Descendants 2. Jeffery, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, starred in “Descendants” and then went on to star in the NBC drama “Shades of Blue,” FOX’s “Wayward Pines,” the direct-to DVD movie “Daphne and Velma” and The CW Network’s pilot “Charmed.”

In “Descendants 3” Thomas Doherty and Dylan Playfair will be reprising their roles as Harry and Gil, each members of Uma’s pirate crew. They will be joining Dove Cameron as Mal, Cameron Boyce as Carlos, Sofia Carson as Evie, Booboo Stewart as Jay, Mitchell Hope as King Ben and China Anne McClain as Uma.

The Descendants trilogy, about the sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains began with Descendants in 2015 and Descendants 2 in 2017. Both of those movies have been the #1 cable movie for their respective years among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, and both rank among Disney Channel’s Top 10 original movies of all time.

The Disney Channel Original Movie, “Descendants 3,” directed by Emmy ® and DGA Award-winning Kenny Ortega, begins production next month for a 2019 premiere.

The “Descendants 3” screenplay was written by Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon (“The Starter Wife,” “Runaway Bride,” “Descendants,” “Descendants 2”) who, with Kenny Ortega (“Descendants” and its sequel, “High School Musical” trilogy) and Wendy Japhet (“Descendants” and its sequel, “An Education”), are also the movie’s executive producers. Kara Saun (both “Descendants” movies, “Project Runway”) is the costume
designer. Mark Hofeling (both “Descendants” movies, ” School Musical,” “ZOMBIES”) is the production designer. Shawn Williamson (“Descendants 2,” “Adventures in Babysitting”) is the producer. Jamal Sims (“Step Up,” “Hannah Montana: The Movie”) joins Kenny Ortega as choreographer.
