Olaf Cupcake Debuts at Hollywood Studios

Olaf Cupcacke

Olaf Cupcacke

Do you wanna hold a snowman? Everyone’s favorite hugger is now the star of his very own cupcake. How cute is this Olaf Cupcake? As part of the Flurry of Fun at Hollywood Studios, Christmas treats galore have been popping up around the Park.

Olaf cupcake

This cupcake is made of chocolate cake with buttercream icing, sugar sprinkles, and topped with a white chocolate candy, Olaf.  I am absolutely loving it. The way the buttercream frosting and sugar sprinkles on top come together to look like snow really gets us into the spirit of things. It’s a bit denser than most buttercream frostings, which to me, is a good thing. It adds heft to the chocolate which is mildly flavored and light and fluffy. The two come together to balance each other and create a cupcake that is truly worth melting for.

Menu

You’ll find this and other amazing treats at and Commissary and Backlot Express. It’ll run you $4.99 plus tax or you can use a snack credit if you are on the Disney Dining Plan.

Have you picked one of these up yet? If you have please tell us what you thought in the comments.

Dole Joins Disney to Celebrate 90 Years Of Mickey

Dole Joins Disney to Celebrate 90 Years Of Mickey

Just in time for Mickey Mouse’s 90th Anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, Dole has updated 19 of the popular party dishes from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s to accommodate today’s vegan and healthy-eating demands.

Launched on Oct. 15 and continuing through January 2019, the program presents Mickey Mouse as the world’s Everyday Hero and True Original through 19 new Dole Mickey Mouse-inspired recipes and how-to recipe videos themed to different Mickey Mouse eras plus images of the True Original on tens of millions of DOLE® Bananas, Pineapples, packaged salads, and vegetables in the U.S and Canadian supermarkets continent-wide.

Dole first teamed up with Disney in 1976 when the produce giant become the sponsor of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at the Disneyland Resort and at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World –a sponsorship that continues in California and resulted in the creation of the iconic Dole Whip now available at Disney Parks and Resorts worldwide.

At the heart of the program are 19 original Dole entrée, salad, side dish, smoothie, and dessert recipes made with DOLE® fresh fruits and vegetable and themed to one of three Mickey Mouse eras –Classic, Old School, or Modern.

The six “Classic Mickey” recipes, honoring Mickey Mouse in the 1920s and 1930s, include:

Dole Mushroom Rockefeller, ”a non-seafood alternative to Oysters Rockefeller:

Steamboat Willie Green Apple Waldorf, ”a Mickey version of the classic New York salad;

and perhaps the most-iconic pineapple dessert ever, the “Dole Pineapple Downside-Up Cake.”

Old School Mickey (1940-1960)

Modern Mickey (1980-2000s)

In 2006 Disney became the first major media company to establish a Nutrition Guideline Policy to associate its brands and characters with a more nutritious portfolio of foods and beverages.

This year Dole and Disney come together to celebrate with four months of activities highlighted by fresh takes on classic recipes and new dishes honoring the iconic True Original and the two brands’ long collaborative friendship.

The new recipes are the latest twist of Dole’s yearlong “Powering the Hero Within” (#DoleHero) initiative, which culminates with a four-month salute to Mickey Mouse’s 90th combining new recipes and how-to recipe videos themed to different Mickey eras with images of Disney’s true original on tens of millions of DOLE® Bananas, Pineapples, packaged salads and vegetables in U.S and Canadian supermarkets.

“Dole and Disney have a rich history of working together toward happier, healthier families, and encouraging kids of all ages to eat better and be more active,” said William Goldfield, Dole’s director of communications. “Since our relationship has always centered on the intersection of fun and food, we knew we wanted to celebrate Mickey’s 90thin a big way.”

The 13 remaining Mickey recipes will be unveiled in the coming weeks. All 19 original recipes, videos, and other content will be available on the Dole Pinterest page or at www.dole.com/disneymickeymouse.

The Rose And Crown Is Hosting A New Tea Experience At Epcot

The Rose And Crown Is Hosting A New Tea Experience At Epcot

Do you enjoy a good cup of tea?  The Rose and Crown Restaurant located at  Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort has a brand new event that you are sure to want to experience! This event is currently running on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 9:45 am.  It has been booking very quickly and after I give you all of the details, you will definitely see why!

One of my favorite things about early events in the World Showcase area of Epcot is that you get a virtually empty part of the park which makes for some amazing photo opportunities.

The Rose And Crown Is Hosting A New Tea Experience At Epcot

Once you check in at the podium in front of the Rose and Crown pub, you are escorted into the dining room and join your fellow tea lovers for a spot on event!

You will find four glasses and four types of teas in front of you.  We had English Breakfast, a seasonal Pumpkin Chai, Green Tea, and an Herbal Tea.  A Twinings Tea expert guides you through the types of tea and you even learn how to brew the perfect cup.  You have sugar and cream on the table as well so that you can prepare your own perfect cup.  We also learned some very interesting tea facts.  Did you know that Herbal Tea actually contains no tea at all?  I was also informed that the seasonal tea will be changed out and that they are looking at an Apple Cinnamon blend for the holidays.

I loved that we had lovely sugar cubes.

This is the tea timer, each type of tea requires a different amount of timing to get that perfect brew.

We started with the English breakfast tea and the chai.  This is how it starts.

And this is the final product.  Aren’t they beautiful!

We were also brought Lady Gray tea which is best served cold.  This was absolutely refreshing.

After sampling the teas, we were brought our first course.  It features four sandwiches.

The second is an egg salad sandwich.

Next was a curried chicken salad which we were told is a favorite of the Queen’s.

The final selection was a chicken salad with spreadable cheddar and chopped pickles.  Sounds like an odd combination but it really worked!

The plate also included edible hibiscus flowers from the Land Pavillion.  Of course, I tried them and they were delicious!

While we finished our sandwiches, we learned about the history of tea and the Twining’s company.  We brewed our next two cups and then enjoyed the next course.  We had traditional scones, jam, and clotted cream.

This plate also had an edible Hawaiin orchid from the Land Pavillion.  You know I tried that too!

After we were full, we also received a gift of five tea varieties to take home to try our newly found brewing skills.  I can’t wait!

Overall, I have to say this event was educational, delicious and fun.  It is definitely a great bargain. I highly recommend getting a reservation for this event.  I have gone back and booked it again because it was so much fun!  Hope you take some time to enjoy a spot of tea at the fantastic event!

Epcot’s World Showcase Christmas Tree Has Gone Up

Epcot's World Showcase Christmas Tree Has Gone Up

The magical World Showcase Christmas Tree in Epcot’s has gone up. Twinkling lights, ornaments from around the world, and World Showcase Lagoon in the background…sigh! Christmas has come to Epcot at Walt Disney World this week. We walked around the tree which sits just in front of the lagoon and looked at all the details. There are small flags and ornaments representing each land around the showcase.

Here you see a little love shown for the United Kingdom with some festive holiday sayings from China as well.

Epcot's World Showcase Christmas Tree Has Gone Up

While you are visiting the Epcot World Showcase you should try the new Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree Scavenger Hunt! Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree Scavenger Hunt takes you around the world showcase, with a special prize for completing the checklist. You can purchase this scavenger hunt map at select locations in Epcot for $6.99. Once you have a map, you’ll travel around the World Showcase, looking for Chip and Sale who are collecting ornaments for their Christmas Tree. After you’ve helped Chip and Dale find an ornament in each country, you’ll be rewarded with a special prize!

Epcot's World Showcase Christmas Tree Has Gone Up

You can get all three sets if you purchase the map 3 times. There are some repeats in the sets though, which is great if siblings are sharing. The Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree Scavenger Hunt is definitely a fun activity to do with family and friends of all ages.

Strawberry Mint Creme Holiday Dessert at Fairfax Fare at Hollywood Studios

Strawberry Mint Creme Holiday Dessert at Fairfax Fare at Hollywood Studios

Just in time for the season, Fairfax Fare, at Hollywood Studios, has rolled out a new festive holiday treat. It has a creamy layer that starts out tasting like a normal whipped cream topping. The further down you go it starts to turn pink, and then you pick up a hint of mint. Layered below that is a abundance of strawberries, and even bits of cake mixed in. Sprinkled on top are pink and white candy pearls. A white chocolate Mickey and Minnie tops it all off. Almost to cute to eat. Almost…

Strawberry Mint Creme Holiday Dessert at Fairfax Fare at Hollywood Studios

You can only get this dessert over at Hollywood Studios for a limited time.  Head on over, grab your dessert, but dont just sit at a table. Take a stroll and you will see so many cute spots to sit and enjoy the beautiful vintage holiday decor. From the old fashioned Christmas songs playing, to the tinsel stars hanging on the lamp posts, you just get this feeling that floods your heart with warm and happy memories of simpler times.   Hollywood studios is one of my very favorite parks during the holiday season. If you are a foodie, this is the place to be. Every year Disney rolls out new, seasonal only items. Make sure to check out our other posts to see all the other treats that are available.

Poutine Dog is this Novembers Hot Diggity Dog of the Month

Potine Dog

Potine Dog

Drum roll, please… This month’s Hot Diggity Dog over at Casey’s Corner is the Poutine Dog! If that sounds a bit off-putting, don’t worry, you’re not alone. However, this one is surprisingly good!

Poutine Dog is this Novembers Hot Diggity Dog of the MonthThis hot dog has all of the features of traditional Poutine and it really lacks for nothing. It starts with an all-beef hot dog, then it is topped with French fries and cheese curds, sprinkled with green onions and smothered in gravy. When we first heard about this months feature, the fries on to was really the issue for us.  However, the more we thought about it the more we realized hit God s and French fries go together like peanut butter and jelly- sure you can have them separately but they are best when had together! The gravy is the traditional brown gravy that is customarily served with Poutine and the cheese curds are dense and creamy. Though we are used to white onions on our dogs, the green onions give it a light, fresh flavor that helps break up the heaviness of the rest of the hot dog.
