VIDEO: First Guests Explore Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park

Last weekend Pixar Pier had its grand debut at Disney California Adventure. Beloved Pixar stories and characters come to life in this newly reimagined land that features the thrilling Incredicoaster and Pixar Pal-A-Round attractions, imaginative neighborhoods, Pixar-inspired food, the Lamplight Lounge, plus exciting entertainment and more.

Guests enter Pixar Pier through a dazzling marquee that leads to four whimsical neighborhoods. The first themed neighborhood is Incredibles Park, inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “The Incredibles” and home to the Incredicoaster, the first ride-through attraction in the world to feature beloved characters from “The Incredibles” franchise. The Incredicoaster takes guests on a super adventure with the Parr family to chase after the elusive baby Jack-Jack, a storyline that will connect with fans of Disney•Pixar’s latest film, “Incredibles 2,” which opened in theaters June 15. New music, lighting, special effects, exciting character figures and distinctively colored vehicles add to the thrills on this super-speedy coaster, the fastest attraction at the Disneyland Resort.

Guests Using Wheelchairs Can Transfer

Many of our readers have been asking if those in a wheelchair or ECV can ride Slinky Dog Dash or Alien Swirling Saucers in Toy Story Land. We just got word that if the Guest can transfer on their own or with the help of someone in their party, then they will be able to ride both attractions.

Attraction Access Categories
Walt Disney World attractions offer access for Guests with mobility disabilities in the following categories:

  • Must transfer from wheelchair/ECV to ride vehicle
  • Must transfer from ECV to wheelchair
  • Must transfer from ECV to wheelchair, and from wheelchair to ride vehicle
  • May Remain in Wheelchair/ECV

These attractions allow Guests to remain in their wheelchair or Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) during the experience.

Disney has just released some fun news today! We now have new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway concept art and more details to share. This new attraction coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be the first attraction based on our favorite mice where guests will step through the movie screen.

New Concept Art and Details For Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is based on Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts aired on the Disney Channel. Disney let us know that this attraction will literally put guests inside that cartoon world with Mickey and Minnie. You can expect the unexpected as no rules apply and where anything can happen and anything does.

We also got a peek at the 2-foot long physical miniature train car model that will be apart of the attraction. “With Goofy as your train engineer what could possibly go wrong?”

The ride experience is being called “2 1/2 D”, which means no glasses are required. Walt Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty said teams are inventing new technologies that turn the flat world of a colorful cartoon short into a “dimensional display of amazingness.”

“This is one of the boldest…most impossible things I’ve ever worked on in almost 40 years of being an Imagineer. And you know what? That’s what I love about it. Well, that, and Mickey,” Kevin said. “This is not going to be a small attraction, it’s going to be game-changing.”

Disney animators will be in charge of the style of the Mickey and Minnie themed attraction and will include more hidden Mickey’s than any other ride.

If there wasn’t already enough excitement surrounding the opening of Toy Story Land this weekend, Disney just announced that a new show will be coming to Hollywood Studios. The new show will feature your favorite characters from the popular “Cars” movie franchise and will be called Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy!

Online reports indicate that guests will be able to get up-close-and-personal with Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, and Cruz Ramirez when the show opens in early 2019. But, with Lightning McQueen in charge, you never know what bumps in the road are ahead! It also sounds like Lightning McQueen will be looking for participation from the rookie racers in the crowd to help bring the show to life. The new attraction will be located near Rock n’ Roller Coaster in the Sunset Showcase area of Hollywood Studios.

Guests at the Walt Disney World resort this week are gearing up for the grand opening of Toy Story Land. With so much to see and do, it isn’t hard to miss what is happening just beyond the walls.

Star Wars Land can now be seen from Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios. You can clearly see the cranes and outer walls of some of the incredible features. It is scheduled to open sometime in late fall of 2019.

Star Wars fans from all over are already planning their Walt Disney World adventures for next year although an opening date has not yet been determined.

There is also a new Star Wars resort coming to Walt Disney World. Guests will experience a hotel like none other with completely interactive features. They will board a starship upon arrival and be fully immersed in the Star Wars story line. Completion dates for the resort have not been given.

Stroller Parking Test Ending at Animal Kingdom

Stroller Parking Test Ending

On June 1st, Animal Kingdom rolled out a new stroller parking pilot parking program. Disney was hoping this program will make parking your stroller and retrieving it more efficient and convenient. But, according to Orlando Theme Park News, it didn’t work out as well as they had hoped. The program is ending as of  Saturday, June 30th.

Strollers will now be designated to regular stroller parking areas as of Sunday, July 1st.

The way it worked was, Guests who brought in their own stroller, or those who rented from Disney, was given a tag at their first stroller parking area for a participating attraction. The specialty tags will be color-coded and correspond to new color-coded parking zones. For example, if you receive a red specialty tag, you will then park your stroller in the red stroller parking zone. Making it easier to find after you exit your attraction.

  • It’s Tough to be a Bug
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • Rivers of Light

Celebrate 4th of July at Epcot

It’s America’s 242nd birthday, and Epcot is the park to be in to enjoy the Independence Day festivities! If you are in Disney World over the 4th of July, check out what’s in store for that day at Epcot.

  • Special Fireworks: “The Heartbeat of Freedom” What would a 4th of July celebration be without fireworks? And Epcot has the best show around! It starts at 9 p.m. with a performance of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” which concludes with the addition of a heart-pounding, all-American grand finale. This one-night-only fireworks extravaganza unites music from great American composers with more pyrotechnics than you can imagine!
  • Voices of Liberty – An Epcot tradition for more than 35 years, this legendary a cappella group will perform a series of special evening concerts of great American songs in the America Gardens Theatre at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. Joining the Voices of Liberty on stage will be Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy, dressed for the occasion in their special “Spirit of ‘76” attire. You can also catch Voices of Liberty performing special patriotic songs in the rotunda of The American Adventure at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Celebrate 4th of July at Epcot!

  • Disney Characters – During the day, you’ll have the opportunity to get a special photo with Mickey, Goofy, Pluto and Chip ‘n’ Dale, all wearing their patriotic best, right outside The American Adventure pavilion.
  • Specialty Foods – Add some flavor to your celebration with all-American foods throughout the park. There will be decadent red, white and blue cupcakes available at Fountain View and Sunshine Seasons, where you can also nosh on their yummy BBQ pork sandwich.   • The American Adventure – This epic attraction, another Epcot original, has recently been updated with an all-digital projection system, a new screen, new speakers and an all-new recording of the iconic “Golden Dream” anthem. And look for new faces added to the show’s finale including composer John Williams, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and noted ballerina Misty Copeland.

We just love that adorable pair Chip ‘n Dale, and how can you not, they’re too cute. The new Chip ‘n Dale MagicBand captures their nutty personalities, in a very cutesy style. This one is an open edition MagicBand, and is now available on shopDisney.

Fans of Chip ‘n Dale will go nuts for this MagicBand featuring the pair of mischievous ‘munks. The MagicBand is the traditional pink, which contrasts beautifully with the chocolate colors of the darling chipmunks, acorns, and leaves.
