New Name and Images for Lakefront Dining at Coronado Springs Resort

Coronado Springs Resort

One of my favorite resorts, Coronado Springs Resort, has been going through a lot of changes within the past year or so. One of those exciting changes is the restaurant that is being built in the middle of the lake, Lago Dorado. Well, we have some new pictures of the restaurant and officially have a name! It will be called Villa del Lago. Check out some concept art from Disney below.

In order for guests to access the new location, three walkways will be constructed over the water to connect it with the rest of the property.

Coronado Springs is also on their way to completing a new 15-story tower that will add 500 rooms, featuring suites and concierge-level services. The new tower overlooking Lago Dorado, the resort’s centerpiece lake, will allow guests to experience something truly unique, rooftop dining with panoramic views of popular nighttime fireworks from nearby Disney theme parks.

The resort will also refurbish its current resort rooms and transform its landscape with floating gardens and an island oasis that connects the resort through a series of bridges.

We don’t have the name of the new tower just yet.

Completion of Villa del Lago and the new tower is set to open summer of 2019!

Ordering at Mint Julep Bar At Disneyland Has Moved Outside

Mint Julep Bar

While visiting Disneyland Park we spotted something interesting. It now appears that the Mint Julep Bar, located in New Orleans Square, has moved their registers (and consequently the place where guests place their orders) outside.

This must-do destination for most guests can be found within the garden patio area of the French Market Restaurant and close to the New Orleans train station.

A Magical Winter Holiday Awaits Aboard Disney Cruise Line This Year

Disney Cruise Line Holiday Sailings

This year, unwrap a holiday adventure for the whole family: a cruise aboard the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy, all decked out with holiday cheer.

Starting early November, Disney Cruise Line adds sparkle to each ship during Very Merrytime Cruises, with traditional “turkey day” fanfare, Christmas feasts, “snow flurries” and more. During these voyages, special stem-to-stern holiday events include:

  • “Mickey’s Tree-Lighting Magic” in the atrium lobby on the first night of the cruise, where Disney characters lead holiday carols and the lighting of the glittering, three-deck-tall tree.
  • “Santa’s Winter Wonderland Ball” in the atrium lobby, where Disney cruisers welcome the guests of honor, Santa and Mrs. Claus, with a grand celebration featuring Broadway-style entertainment, favorite Disney characters and classic holiday tunes. This evening of enchantment is made complete when a special pair of royal sisters joins the party and causes a flurry of “frozen” fun as a magical snowfall overtakes the atrium.
  • Dickens-inspired carolers carrying the spirit of the holidays throughout the ship while singing holiday classics, sometimes with the help of favorite Disney friends. At the end of the cruise, children will have the opportunity to join the carolers onstage for a special farewell show.
  • Family holiday activities including building gingerbread houses and meeting Santa Claus.
  • Youth holiday crafts such as decorating stockings and gingerbread men cookies, making holiday cards and creating holiday animation cells.
  • “Deck the Deck Holiday Party,” a tropical celebration with Disney friends leading games such as hula hooping and limbo under oversized candy canes, along with dances for the whole family like the “Yuletide Slide” and a conga line around the pool.
  • A special holiday edition of the cheerful farewell celebration on the final night of the cruise, with beloved Disney characters and the ship’s crew in an engaging musical finale led by Mickey Mouse.

A Magical Winter Holiday Awaits Aboard Disney Cruise Line This Year

On Thanksgiving Day, guests will enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving Day feast and visits from Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse dressed in traditional Thanksgiving attire. Also during the special Thanksgiving voyages, NFL football games will be broadcast live on the ships’ outdoor, jumbo LED screens – Funnel Vision – located near the family pool.

On Christmas morning at the atrium lobby tree, Santa Claus and his helpers will have a surprise for all the kids, and guests will delight in a special musical performance from the children. A traditional Christmas dinner will be served that night in the dining rooms.

Christmas services will be held on Christmas Day with a midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Hanukkah services will be held each day, Dec. 2 to Dec. 10.

A Magical Winter Holiday Awaits Aboard Disney Cruise Line This Year

When the ships stop at Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, during the holidays, the celebration continues with “snow flurries,” a decked-out Christmas tree, Disney character meet-and-greets and holiday island music.

To celebrate the holidays, the Disney Magic sails four-, five- and seven-night Bahamian cruises, five- and six-night Eastern Caribbean cruises, and five-night Western Caribbean cruises departing Nov. 10 to Dec. 23; the Disney Wonder sails four-, six- and seven-night Western Caribbean cruises and seven-night Bahamian cruises departing from Nov. 2 to Dec. 21; the Disney Dream sails three- and four-night Bahamian cruises departing from Nov. 9 to Dec. 24; and the Disney Fantasy sails seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises departing from Nov. 10 to Dec. 22.

Girls Who Code Visited Disneyland Resort This Week!

Girls Who Code visited Disneyland Resort

Girls Who Code visited Disneyland Resort this week! The Disneyland Resort extended an invitation to 22 high school students from the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program so they could get a glimpse at the technology behind the magic at Disney Parks, including the all-new Play Disney Parks app!

The girls received a special demonstration to learn how the app’s games and experiences were created. After which the group enjoyed the “Playset Party” game together in the queue of Toy Story Mania. The girls also learned more about how machine learning has been used to make magic for guests in our parks around the world.

“I know technology and coding is used in the Disney Parks so I was really excited to find out what aspects it’s used for that I didn’t realize,” said Guadalupe.

“It was interesting seeing how they use coding and different programs to make technology work, like in the Play Disney Parks app,” added Dana.

Girls Who Code Visited Disneyland Resort This Week!

Not only has the group visited Disneyland Resort this summer, they have also visited Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development, Inc. and Walt Disney Animation Studios. They also took part in speaker sessions with leaders across Disney, including Marvel Studios’ Executive Vice President of Physical Production Victoria Alonso and Chief Information Officer of The Walt Disney Company and Executive Vice President of Enterprise Technology Susan O’Day.

2018 marks the third year that Disney has played host for this company-wide program to teach students about technology and help close the gender gap in technology fields.

Leaky Tiki’s Have Returned to Adventureland

Leaky Tiki's

We reported back in February that the Leaky Tiki’s in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom were removed for more seating area for Guests. Well, I am now happy to report that they have returned and are back to their full spitting potential!

This time of the year it is great to be able to cool off from the hot sun. Over in Fantasyland, Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station is in full operation also. Let the kids have fun under the sun in this fantastic play area inspired by the locomotive of the Walt Disney’s Dumbo circus.

In Epcot, there is a small splash pad on the right just before you get to the World Showcase entrance. The splash pad is an oval shape with both leapfrog vertical fountains. In addition to the splash pads, there are misting stations located throughout the park.

There are no splash pads in Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom but there are misters located around the parks to help you cool off.

At Disney Springs you will find a Magical Water Fountain at the Marketplace near the store, Once Upon a Toy. And there is a smaller splash pad near The Days of Christmas store.

Stay tuned to Chip and Co. for more updates around the parks!
