A 28 minute run time? Can it be!?

This rumor, heard in the Theme Park Stop podcast, has everyone anxiously awaiting the opening of Galaxy’s Edge in late Summer 2019 in Disneyland and late Fall 2019 in Walt Disney World.

We know that Galaxy’s Edge will have two rides: Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Although fans have been favoring the falcon ride because of its popularity as the “fastest hunk of junk of galaxy”, it looks like Rise of the Resistance will produce a pleasant surprise.

The biggest and most exciting aspect of the upcoming ride is it’s rumored run time of a whopping 28 minutes long from start to finish!

The ride will have five different ride systems including a trackless ride vehicle like Ratatouille in Disneyland Paris. Because the ride begins in Batuu (the Galaxy’s Edge planet), guests will have to enter a carrier shuttle in the queue to launch into space and later get on a Star Destroyer where all 18 show scenes of the ride will take place.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is the biggest indoor ride that Disney has ever built. With 305 animatronics, Star Wars fans will be grinning from ear to ear.

Join in the multicultural celebration of the Year of the Pig at Disneyland Resort this year! Lunar New Year festivities are currently underway at Disney California Adventure Park and will continue through February 17, 2019.

Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession takes to the streets of Disney California Adventure Park with music from Disney’s animated film Mulan. Hosted by Mulan herself and her loyal sidekick, Mushu, this festive parade features a large Chinese dragon puppet, talented drummers, graceful dancers, and brave warriors. To commemorate the Year of the Pig, very special guests- the Three Little Pigs- are joining in the celebratory parade in their festive holiday attire.

Guests will have the chance to meet some of their favorite characters over at Paradise Gardens, which has been transformed with bamboo, peach blossoms, golden flowers, and multilingual banners sending guests best wishes. Come meet Mickey, Minnie, Mulan, Mushu, and Pluto in their festive holiday attire as they usher in the Year of the Pig!

Incredibly Super New PhotoPass Opportunities Available At Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has always offered some pretty amazing PhotoPass opportunities. The theme park not only has amazing thrill ride photos, but it also lends itself with its picture-perfect backdrops. Add in an abundance of Character Experiences, Magic Shots, and unique props and you definitely get your money’s worth if you purchase Memory Maker.

It is difficult to imagine how the PhotoPass experiences that are available could be brought to the next level. It has occurred though! Incredibles-themed new experiences are available at Pixar Place through September 30, 2019 and the door to the monster world has opened at Walt Disney Presents.

These new experiences include a meet and greet with the one and only Edna Mode. (Just be sure to leave your capes at home, darlings.)

There is also a fun photo op at the Incredibles Celebration Wall.

New PhotoPass opportunities would not be the same without a new Magic Shot and we are not disappointed! You can take a photo with Jack-Jack and his laser beam eyes. Just make sure he isn’t looking at you!)

For the Monsters, Inc. fans you can get a photo inside the Monsters Incorporated Factory with Mike Wazowski and Sulley. Be careful you don’t get caught though as humans are not allowed in the Monster world!

If you do not already have a Memory Maker attached to your vacation package, you have plenty of options to hold on to these incredibly super photos. The Memory Maker One Day can be purchased directly in your My Disney Experience mobile app. It can also be purchased from Sid Cahuenga’s One-of-a-Kind. This is located near the main entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The cost of the Memory Maker One Day is $69. You can also purchase individual photos if you wish. The cost to do this is $16.95 per photo.

PhotoPass Guests Complete Your Purchases By Tonight, PhotoPass Will Have a New Website Tomorrow

PhotoPass is changing locations. Starting tomorrow you will find the link to the site has changed from https://mydisneyphotopass.disney.go.com/ to https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/photopass/. The Website states that beginning January 29th, your unexpired PhotoPass photos taken at Walt Disney World will only be accessible through the new website or through the My Disney Experience mobile app.

Most importantly if you have placed borders or stickers on your photos, those edits will only transfer to the new website on purchased photos. If you were planning on doing this, do it before 11:59 pm Eastern Stanard Time tonight.

New guests using PhotoPass for the first time will automatically be directed to the new site. The change also includes photos taken at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa. These photos will only be accessible through Disneyland.com/PhotoPass beginning 11:59 pm January 29th, 2019.

So, you’re planning a trip to Universal Studios and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You’ve heard people talk about the Butterbeer, the robes, the rides, and the ever-amazing interactive wands. Excuse me? What is an interactive wand and why do you need one? Much like Disney has its popular ears to wear, guests visiting Harry Potter need a wand to complete the experience. If I have you suddenly worried on how to make your time in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter the highlight of your trip, no worries. Here’s your guide to finding your perfect interactive wand and becoming a Wizard.

What is an interactive wand?

Simply put, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Throughout the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you’ll have the chance to become your own wizard or witch and practice spells. To cast spells, you’re going to need an interactive wand. Inspired by characters from the movies, you’ll have 22 wands to pick from.

I love all the intricate details on each wand. No two wands look the same. If you are not wanting a specific character wand, you can also choose from non-character interactive wands that are unique to a witch or wizard’s personality. Everyone also has a wand assigned to their birthdate. Any wand master can look up your wand and help you locate it in the store. Let’s talk about where to find the wands.

Where can the wands be found?

Once you’ve entered The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, make your way to Ollivanders or Wands by Gregorovitch.

Wands can also be found at Ollivanders in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, as well as on the wand cart located near the Hogwarts Castle.

I would highly suggest taking the time to visit the wand master at Ollivanders. Experience magic as one lucky guest is picked to participate in the show and have their wand chosen. I can tell you from personal experience, watching your kiddo participate is amazing.

Wands are also available to purchase at the Universal Store at CityWalk.

What does my wand do?

You’ve purchased your wand, so now what? Now is when the magic happens. You are ready to begin casting spells. Inside your wand box will be a map. One side of the map shows the locations of the 16 spells you can cast in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley. The other side shows the 9 locations in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade.

When you’ve picked out a location, you will see a gold medallion on the ground. Look closely, and you will see where to stand and the correct wand movement to make the spell work. Most of the spells are located in storefront window displays, but there are a few around Diagon Alley that near a fountain and use water to make magic happen.

While you’re walking around casting spells, don’t forget to grab a Butterbeer. Served a few different ways, it’s a delicious drink to sip on while creating magic. My personal favorite is the hot Butterbeer, which is served seasonally, followed by the frozen Butterbeer. The slushy frozen version is perfect on a warm day in the parks. If there’s any chill in the air, the hot version is a must-have. If you’re wanting to go all out in your Harry Potter experience, purchase one of the robes and feel like a real wizard or witch.

Now that you have the tools needed, find your wand, grab a butterbeer and start casting spells. Did you pick a favorite wand? New Disney x Kate Spade Spring Collection Coming Soon

A new collection of exclusive Kate Spade bags are headed to the Disney Parks this Spring. The new Disney x Kate Spade Spring Collection will be exclusive to the Disney Parks and Resorts, and not sold at regular Kate Spade retail locations.

The new collection will offer a variety of silhouettes including a tote, wallet, and other handbag styles. It will be offered in a pink, or black color motif version, and feature double colored colored polka dots, with Mickey ears. The larger totes and satchels will also have adorable key fob styled hang tags that feature black and white Mickey ears. We’ve seen a couple of Disney Kate Spade collections, but I will admit this is my favorite one so far!

Each style has a very sleek design, with classic shapes. The tote is a really good size bag that is perfect for those of us who carry our lives in our purse too!

Reddish pink accents contrast beautifully for the handles, trims, and zippers for the bags as well. These bags capture the iconic whimsy of Kate Spade that still has a high end look, with the beauty and playfulness of Disney designs.

There is no official release date for the new Disney x Kate Spade Spring Collection, but they are slated to arrive in time for Spring.We do not know if they will be available on shopDisney or not like the previous Park Exclusive collection was, but these bags will be exclusive to the Disney Parks and Resorts, and not sold at regular Kate Spade retail locations.

Waterparks Around Orlando Closed Due to Weather Through January 28

A lot of people enjoy traveling to Orlando, FL in January because the weather is amazing. However, the past few days has been a little different. The weather is incredibly chilly in Orlando recently! So chilly, they closed down the incredible water parks offered in the area. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, SeaWorld’s Aquatica, and Universal’s Volcano Bay will all be closed on Monday, January 28, 2019. They are set to reopen on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Of course, this is keeping in mine that the parks can change their operating schedules at any time without notice.

Hopefully, if you’re in the area, you did not have your heart set on visiting one of these water parks today (Monday, January 28, 2019). But fear not! Tuesday is coming and the weather looks to be slowly creeping up in temperatures as the weekend arrives.

Visiting one of the water parks is a fantastic addition to your Orlando Family Vacation! Each offers its own unique features at a water park. Visiting one in the winter is a great option as the crowds are much lower and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is heated year-round to a splendid 81 degrees year round! Universal’s Volcano Bay and SeaWorld’s Aquatica are also heated year-round and seasonally depending on the weather outside.

Just a friendly reminder, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is currently closed for its annual refurbishment during this time frame as well.

Florida Residents will want to take notice of this new amazing deal! Madam Tussauds Orlando is located on International Drive in Orlando, Florida. It is a family-friendly attraction and where you can meet your favorite A-list (wax) celebrities. A visit normally takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour. You can visit see your favorite celebrities up-close such as Aquaman, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jimmy Fallon. There is a multitude of wax figures in all different categories: Superheroes, TV, Movies, A-List Party, History & Leaders, Sports, and Music. There is literally someone for everyone in your group to enjoy!

SEA LIFE Orlando is also located on International Drive in Orlando, Florida. As you may have deduced, SEA LIFE Orlando is an aquarium. It houses Florida’s only 360° tunnel. SEA LIFE Orlando is very educational and offers unique dive shows which educate the audience not only about the creatures at the aquarium but also diving and more. When visiting you also have the opportunity to meet Ted, the famous rescue sea turtle who helped develop the Turtle Excluder Device (TED). (You will find him over in the Indian Ocean exhibit.) As if that was not enough, there is also a jellyfish wall exhibit which allows you to change the colors of the habitat. (Great photo op!) There are also an array of behind the scenes options you can choose from as well for those that want a more up-close and personal experience.

ICON Orlando is an observation wheel also located on International Drive in Orlando, Florida. At 400 feet tall, it is the tallest observation wheel on the East Coast. A flight on ICON Orlando lasts approximately 23 minutes.
