Central Florida has been dealing with some chilly weather recently. With temperatures expected to drop again, Walt Disney World has announced that the Blizzard Beach waterpark will be temporarily closed throughout this weekend.
Blizzard Beach will shut its doors through Sunday, January 27 in response to the cold snap. Temperatures will get low enough to make a visit to the waterpark rather uncomfortable for most guests. At this time, the park is expected to reopen on Monday, January 28. Although it’s ironic that a ski resort-themed waterpark would have to close for the cold, these closures are usually done to ensure the safety and comfort of park guests. Many waterparks in the Orlando area are taking the same measures.
The closure was originally only to last until Saturday, but as temperatures continue to drop in the evenings, it has been extended through the weekend. Unfortunately, this means Walt Disney World will be without a water park option for guests until next week. Typhoon Lagoon is currently under renovation with plans to reopen on March 16. We will continue to keep you updated on last-minute closings as the season progresses.
