The Holidays Begin November 9, at the Disneyland Resort

The Holidays Begin November 9, at the Disneyland Resort

Limited-Time Holiday Magic Features Cherished Traditions: ‘A Christmas Fantasy’ Parade, Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle and ‘it’s a small world’ Holiday

At the Disneyland Resort, the Holidays begin here,  bringing seasonal magic to the Happiest Place on Earth Nov. 9, 2018, through Jan. 6, 2019. Throughout the holiday season, traditions are shared, memories are made and the spirit of the season shines even brighter throughout the resort. The festivities include favorite holiday experiences and entertainment, including Disney Festival of Holidays and the “Believe … in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular. The heartwarming Festival of Holidays, which honors the sights, sounds, and tastes of Christmas, Navidad, Hanukkah, Diwali and Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day, is celebrated at Disney California Adventure Park for an additional two days, running through Jan. 8, 2019.

Guests plan their seasonal visits year after year to experience beloved holiday traditions and all the festive cheer at Disneyland Resort, from snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A., to glistening décor, Disney-themed treats, holiday entertainment and the one-of-a-kind transformations that create “it’s a small world” Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday.

At Disney California Adventure Park

  • Disney Festival of Holidays brings the spirit of the season to life through special entertainment, along with delicious food at the Festive Foods Marketplace, which features a mix of holiday dishes and beverages that bridge many diverse cultures and family traditions.
    • Festival of Holidays entertainment includes musical and dance performances by the mischievous Holiday Toy Drummers, Mostly Kosher, Blue13 Dance Company, The Sound, and the GRAMMY® Award-winning Mariachi Divas.
  • The Three Caballeros host the popular “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” street party celebration, featuring folklórico and samba dancers, live musicians, and Mickey and Minnie in their fiesta best.
  • Princess Elena’s Musical Grand Arrival welcomes the adventurous and kindhearted Princess Elena of Avalor, her magical friend Skylar and royal dancers as they share the joy of the holidays in this charming musical celebration.

The Holidays Begin November 9, at the Disneyland Resort

  • The residents of Cars Land decorate for the holidays, too. Each address along Route 66 – Flo’s V8 Café, Fillmore’s Taste-In, Cozy Cone Motel, Luigi’s Casa della Tires and more – gets a holiday makeover that reflects the personality of its “Cars” character resident. Plus, two attractions put the holiday cheer into overdrive, transforming into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.
  • Guests can enjoy special holiday-themed activities with Santa Claus and his sleigh full of mischievous elves at Santa’s Holiday Visit at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail through Dec. 24. From Dec. 25 through Jan. 6, guests may encounter Santa Goofy in this festive location.
  • When night falls, guests may stroll through the Grizzly Peak area to experience a magical touch of winter, with an occasional snowfall!
  • A dazzling, 50-foot Christmas tree adorns Carthay Circle along Buena Vista Street. The tree and surrounding buildings, inspired by Los Angeles as it appeared when Walt Disney arrived in the 1920s, are decorated with vintage-style ornaments.

At Disneyland Park

  • Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle enchants from day to night with its shimmering icicles and twinkling lights. After dark, “Believe … in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular and its magical snowfall finale create lasting holiday memories.
  • Mickey, Minnie, Disney Princesses and Santa celebrate the season in “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, a daily procession with floats, music and marching “tin soldiers.”
  • Guests will be amazed by the 60-foot tall Christmas tree in Town Square, Main Street, U.S.A., a picturesque sight where friends and family gather to take holiday photos each year. This year, the tree includes new lighting and décor, with 3,500 multi-color lights, 1,500 Victorian-inspired ornaments and 100 faux candles that range from 12 to 22 inches tall.
  • Disneyland guests definitely will want to experience the popular seasonal transformations of these park attractions:
    • “it’s a small world” becomes “it’s a small world” Holiday with dolls and toys representing children around the world enjoying the distinctive holiday traditions of their countries.
    • Haunted Mansion becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday,* with Jack Skellington and his friends from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” causing a collision between Christmas and Halloween.

The Holidays Begin November 9, at the Disneyland Resort

The Downtown Disney District shopping, dining and entertainment district and the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort also join the holiday festivities with twinkling lights and ornaments, holiday displays, special entertainment and holiday-inspired eats and treats.

“Toy Story 4” Promises to Be a Tear-Jerker!

toy story 4

Toy Story 4 is set to hit theaters next June, and from what Tom Hanks has been saying, we’ll need more Kleenex for it than we did for Toy Story 3.

In 2010, Disney/PIXAR released the third installment of the Toy Story franchise, in which Woody, Buzz and the gang find themselves in a tough spot as Andy prepares to leave for college. Toy Story 3 took fans on an emotional roller coaster–especially during the last 10 minutes of the film when Andy gives away his toys to a little girl named Bonnie because he knows she’ll play with them.

Tom Hanks, who lends his voice to Sheriff Woody, and Tim Allen, aka Buzz Lightyear have been talking about Toy Story 4 lately, and the consensus is that we will cry more tears during Toy Story 4 than we did in its predecessor.

“When I realized what they were going for,” Hanks said on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC, “I realized, ‘Oh, this is a moment in history!”

During an interview with ET Canada, Tim Allen called Toy Story 4 an “incredibly great story.” He went on to say that the new film was very emotional and that he “couldn’t even get through the last scene….a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.”

Neither of the stars were specific about the reasons for the emotions they felt during the scenes, but they’ve said enough to keep up guessing and make us eager for the opening!

Did you cry during the ending to Toy Story 3? What do you think the storyline in Toy Story 4 will include? Let us know in the comments below!

Frozen 2 Release Date Moved Up

Frozen 2 Release Date Moved Up

Frozen 2 Release Date Moved Up! Who’s ready to build a snowman again?  Well, it’s happening now sooner than you thought because Disney announced yesterday that the release date for “Frozen 2” has been moved up a week.  Previously dated for November 27, 2019, and now coming to a theater near you on November 22.

Stars Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel will be returning as “Princess Anna” and “Queen Elsa” to carry on this legendary tale of sisterhood.   Also returning as everyone’s favorite snowman, Olaf, is Josh Gad.    Rumors have swirled that other actors such as Sterling K. Brown from the hit television series “This Is Us” and Evan Rachel Wood were in talks to join the cast.

Once again, directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck will take the reigns as before in the original “Frozen” film.     Screenwriter Allison Schroder, co-writer of “Christopher Robin” is said to be collaborating with Lee on the script.

With its unparalleled one billion dollars global success, a countless number of awards including two Oscars,  “Frozen” has become one of the highest grossing animated films of all time and most recently adapted as a Broadway musical.

Fans certainly won’t be letting go of “Frozen” fever anytime soon.

Pluto Popcorn Bucket Returns With a Brand New Look

Pluto Popcorn Bucket

Last year the Disney Parks introduced the most adorable Holiday Popcorn Bucket featuring Pluto! He was as cute as can be, and many of us fell in love with him. It looks like he is making his holiday return, and this year the Pluto Popcorn Bucket has a new look.

Pluto Popcorn Bucket Returns With a Brand New Look

This year Pluto has swapped out his cheerful green holiday sweater, for a merry red holiday sweater! His bone is tied up with a green bow, and the carrying strap is now green instead of red. He’s still delightfully festive, and his back opens up to store delicious Disney popcorn. We actually use last year’s as a Christmas decoration in our home, and he’s such a hit!

Pluto Popcorn Bucket Returns With a Brand New Look

You can find this cute holiday popcorn bucket at select popcorn carts for $15.50. You can also bring him back to the carts and get a refill for just $2.00! Now all we need is our Holiday Resort Mugs filled with hot cocoa while we munch on yummy popcorn!

Are you a fan of holiday souvenirs like the festive Pluto Popcorn Bucket?

Gingerbread Castle Display Up at the Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Gingerbread Castle Display Up at the Disney's Contemporary Resort

Before you can even see it you can smell it! The scent of gingerbread wafting through the air as a monorail zooms by overhead. On the fourth floor of the Contemporary Resort there is a new gingerbread holiday display. This years theme is Cinderella and its done in the most adorable fashion. I have to say this is one of my favorite gingerbread displays ever done here at Disney.  I am a huge Cinderella fan so I may be bit biased though.  I did notice a slight nod to Small World. Do you see it? Check the pillars to the right and left. Since the Contemporary Resort features a Mary Blair themed mosaic, and a previous years theme was Small World, I think its rather clever.

Gingerbread Castle Display Up at the Disney's Contemporary Resort

I was thrilled to see Cinderella’s glass slipper on display. I admit I did want to try it on. Who wouldn’t want to move into the castle after all? The display features 18 hidden Mickeys and is 17’6 tall, and 25’4 wide. It took 39 bakery cast members 11 days to assemble! It uses 655 pounds of sugar snow and 5,000 gingerbread bricks were used in the castles construction. You just want to reach in and take a bite of it! But don’t worry. You don’t have to fight temptation. They sell a array of gingerbread and other holiday treats you can purchase to take home. Of course who can wait that long. I would buy one and go out on enjoy it on the fourth floor balcony while watching the fireworks if it were me.

Gingerbread Castle Display Up at the Disney's Contemporary Resort

The gingerbread men even have hidden Mickeys. But not for long! Which part would you eat first?

Gingerbread Castle Display Up at the Disney's Contemporary Resort

Also available are gingerbread shingles. For you purists these are not backed with chocolate like the Grand Floridian’s version. The chocolate peppermint cookie is amazing. Soft with just a hint of mint on top , which is actually crushed up candy canes.

Gingerbread Castle Display Up at the Disney's Contemporary Resort

If you are feeling a little adventurous they sell gingerbread and candy cane gelato. Frozen apple cider and frozen hot chocolate are also on tap.

Not a gingerbread fan? They have you covered. Try the Cinderella cake pop.

My favorite offering is definitely this white chocolate Cinderella. Its almost to pretty to eat! Almost. It is chocolate after all.

If you haven’t been to Disney World during the holidays you just have to see it for yourself!  If you have been, you know that nothing is better than Disney during the most magical time of year. What are you waiting for? Let me be your Fairy Godmother and Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo you straight into your own fairy tale vacation.

Jingle Cruise Returns To The Magic Kingdom

Jingle Cruise Returns To The Magic Kingdom

Jingle Cruise!  Jingle Cruise! Jingle All the Way! Disney Magic strikes again! When the clock struck midnight(ish) on Halloween, the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World resort transformed.  The decor went from pumpkins and autumn leaves to holly, Christmas trees, twinkling lights and wreaths.

One of park guests’ favorite seasonal transformation is the Jungle Cruise attraction.  For the holiday season, it becomes the “Jingle Cruise”.  As always, Disney is all about the details.  The queue, dock area and exit are all given some holiday finishes.  The attraction itself takes on a whole new story line. Check out some of these details below.

Jingle Cruise Returns To The Magic Kingdom

Wreaths and garland with wonderful nods to Adventureland abound throughout the attraction. Check out the materials that adorn these wreaths that your faithful team of Skippers created to celebrate the season.

Jingle Cruise Returns To The Magic Kingdom

Even some of headhunters are joining in the festivities.

Jingle Cruise Returns To The Magic Kingdom

Make sure you look all around you – from the moment you start walking towards the queue, the wait area, all of the attraction areas and the exits get a makeover this time of year. You are definitely immersed in this seasonal story.

Jingle Cruise Returns To The Magic Kingdom

You should definitely take some time to look at all of the little details that Disney does so well.

There are lots of little extras that will bring you some giggles and bring lots of holiday cheer.

However, it’s not just the attraction areas that participates in the holiday festivities!  The Skippers of the Jingle Cruise have some seasonally themed jokes that will keep you laughing!  I highly recommend taking a spin or two on the Jingle Cruise this holiday season.

Disney Donates $1 Million to Feeding America

Disney Donates $1 Million to Feeding America

Disney Donates $1 Million to Feeding America

Disney Donates $1 Million to Feeding AmericaThe Walt Disney Company, that brings joy to so many has gone beyond amazing theme parks, movies, and characters we adore. They are positively impacting children and families where they need it the most.  Disney’s contribution is being used to support the distribution of produce to children and families who are in great need.  More than 30 Feeding America network-member food banks across the United States will benefit from the donation. Improved access to healthy food is the goal. Additionally, funds are being used to help support volunteer events, in select markets, with Disney (employees) and the VoluntEARS in assembling nutritious meals.

“We know the people we serve are making difficult tradeoffs to survive and that produce is one of the most requested items at our food banks,” said Blake Thompson, chief supply chain officer at Feeding America. “We are committed to expanding our fresh produce offerings to food banks, and Disney is helping us nourish and strengthen the families we serve.”

Feeding America is the nation’s largest hunger-relief and food rescue organization with a network of 200 member food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs. The organization’s goal is to provide meals for people in need, but also to provide nutritious meals that can help improve health and well-being. Fresh produce provides a tremendous opportunity to both feed people facing hunger and also offer nutrient-rich foods that can improve health outcomes.

Disney has worked with Feeding America to support efforts to end hunger in the U.S. since 2012. Funding from this year’s gift will be used by food banks to provide fresh produce to kids and families facing hunger by removing barriers to source and distribute produce, including building capacity by increasing refrigeration and equipment at food banks to help store and distribute fresh produce within the community.

The first annual Seaworld Craft Beer Festival celebrates global flavors from around the world.  With over 100 local and international craft beers and over 20 different dishes, this festival is ready to bring the fun for foodies. I had the pleasure of attending the Craft Beer Festival Preview, and it was a blast. So go and try some new beers, ride some EPIC rollercoasters and eat some fantastic food this November at Seaworld.

Dates

  • November 3-4
  • November 10-11

Tickets

  • Craft Beer Festival Sampler – 8 Samples: $40.00/each (21+)
  • Craft Beer Festival Sampler – 12 Samples: $54.00/each (21+)

Florida Craft Beer

I love to support local Florida when I can. The Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks out of West Palm Beach was on tap, so I sampled their hard cider.  It was so smooth and delicious.  Then, I sampled Florida Avenue Brewing Company’s Ale with citrus zest.  They are based out of Tampa.  The citrus zest added a bright, fresh zing to each sip.

Poutine

Poutine is a traditional Canadian dish, and it is oh so yummy! French fries are deliciously drenched with brown gravy, cheese curds, bacon bits, and green onions.  Stop by the Shark’s Kiosk to grab this dish.

Bison Slider

The bison slider is such a fun take on the traditional hamburger slider.  The slider is served with a lager bacon onion jam and Minorcan mustard.  That jam is phenomenal and enhances the bison.  Pick up your slider at the Shark’s Kiosk.

BBQ Brisket Mac n Cheese

The BBQ Brisket Mac n Cheese is Yum with a capital Y.  Classic elbow noodles are covered in a jalapeno cheddar pepper jack cheese sauce, BBQ Brisket, topped with a spiked BBQ sauce and a parmesan garlic crust.  Head over to the Waterway Bar to grab your bowl.

Candied Bacon Lollipops

What goes better with a cold beer than bacon?! The perfect portable festival snack is the candied bacon lollipop! Find this treat at the Christmas Market in front of Voyagers.

Overall Thoughts

Welcome fall in Orlando with the first annual Seaworld Orlando Craft Beer Festival. My favorites today were both Florida craft beers and that BBQ Brisket Mac N Cheese, but that is only the beginning. Some other goodies to try are the Beer Floats at Sea Harbor Soft Serve Market, Buffalo Burger Quesadilla at Flamecraft and the infused bacon pretzel at Mama’s Pretzel Kitchen.  To find out more information and to purchase your tickets, click here.  Are you planning on attending the festival? Post in the comments below.  Stay hungry friends!
