Writers of Chip and Co. Share Their Favorite Stan Lee Moments

Stan Lee

Here at Chip and Co. we are deeply saddened by the passing of the father of Marvel and Disney Legend, Stan Lee. Our team has all been touched by his work in one way or another and we wanted to share some of our fondest memories and moments either with or inspired by him.

“I have been a Marvel comic buff since I was just 7 years old. My brother would take a comic book and sketch our favorite hero or villain on the wall of his room. By the time we graduated high school his entire room was covered in art from Stan Lee’s comic pages.  As the years went on and more of our favorite characters were featured in films my love affair with Marvel grew even stronger.  It would be hard to pick just one that I loved because each has such a unique and amazing back story. That is my favorite thing that Stan Lee has left us, amazing characters we can relate to and aspire to be.” -Heather

“So many memories of stories that took me to another place. To where superheroes with superhuman powers were real.  I grew up believing these characters may actually walk among us. I loved going to the theater to see the latest flick and being so excited to find the cameo appearance he was famed for.  I am thankful for the adventures he shared with us. Where good always trumps evil. Where doing right by your fellow human is the right thing to do. He showed us, there is a bit of superhero in us all.” -Erin

“Stan Lee wasn’t just a creator. He was an innovator, an advocate for those of us who are different. In a world that doesn’t accept those that go against the status quo, Lee creates an escape where limitless possibilities were highlighted by characters that were different as well. He made it possible for us to feel comfortable in our own skin. Much like the X-Men, he gave us the courage to accept our differences and use them to contribute to a better world.” -Michael

“Stan Lee has meant much to me throughout my life.  I grew up on Marvel comics and have loved them since I was a little girl, but he didn’t truly solidify himself as a real-life superhero in my book until my son was born. He has had some difficulties in his short life so far,  speech delay and social delay being among. Nothing we were doing helped, but one day he saw a Spiderman cartoon and was enamored! So we kept watching. One of his first complete sentences was “I luz Fyderman!” (I love Spiderman). The more we watched, the more he wanted to talk about.  Soon, he was wearing Spiderman costumes and playing pretend. Before we knew it our anxious boy was engaging with other kids at the park, asking them to play “Spidey” with him. Today, you’d be hard pressed to notice his difficulties. ALL because of Stan Lee and his Spiderman. For that I will be forever grateful and will always regard him as my sons superhero. Excelsior!” – Jill

“I was a teen when I met Stan Lee. He wasn’t the idolized star then that he later became, but to a young girl who loved to draw, and worked her weekends in a comic store, he was a hero. He was kind, and had a wise wit to him, and I will never forget everything he gave us, or how much he inspired the person I am today.” -Danielle

“I was incredibly upset when I had heard that Stan Lee had passed away this week. I have been a Marvel fan for as long as I can remember, my dog is even named “Cap” after Captain America. Anyway, one of my favorite ways he has impacted my life, besides the comics and films, is a tradition that my siblings have. My family has a little magnetic Spiderman that we can not remember how we got it, but ever since its arrival, my siblings use it as a form of “hide and seek.” Sometimes it remains hidden for hours and on occasion it takes months to find. It has even survived several moves across the country. Without Stan Lee’s Spiderman we wouldn’t have that small joy in our life’s and we would be lesser for it. I could go on and on about every way Marvel and Stan Lee has impacted my life and those around me but I will sum it all up to this. The world would be so much darker if it wasn’t for the insight and imagination of a man who saw heroic potential in everyone. Even in the kid next door. Thank you Stan for the all the joy, heartache, tears, and the never ending stories. I will treasure them always. Excelsior!” -Kaitlyn

Stan Lee was a pioneer of the industry and did so much for so many people. There have been few souls before him who have impacted the world of entertainment in the ways that he, and the incredible staff of Marvel, has done over the years. He is the Walt Disney of Superhero Comics. A true father figure for the franchise. His cameos bring a smile to your face and usually pair with a laugh at his witty one liners. Stan Lee is credited with creating and co-creating 100+ characters for Marvel Comics and overseeing decades of the story telling created by the talented staff at Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios. Thank you Stan, for leaving a legacy so deeply rooted in your fans and work that we shall never forget the lessons we have learned and the characters we love so dearly. We are indebted. May his memory be a blessing. Excelsior!

Catch a Brand New Trailer for Disney’s Dumbo Tonight On the CMA’s

Catch a Brand New Trailer for Disney's Dumbo Tonight On the CMA's

Catch a Brand New Trailer for Disney’s Dumbo Tonight On the CMA’s! Unless you have been hiding under a rock you have already heard about the new live-action DUMBO movie that Disney is releasing March 29th, 2019. Today Disney announced that tonight during the Country Music Awards they will air another exclusive trailer for the film.  The CMA’s will be live tonight at 8|7c on ABC. Take a look at the recent photos from the film featuring Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, and directed by Tim Burton.

Catch a Brand New Trailer for Disney's Dumbo Tonight On the CMA's

“From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the
beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner
Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and
Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already
struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting
persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest,
larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and
spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland
is full of dark secrets.”- Walt Disney Pictures

What do you think about this live-action version of the very emotional animated film previously released? I am hoping Tim Burton and the cast can do the original justice with this new adaptation. Walt Disney’s classic animated tale “Dumbo,” originally opened Oct. 23, 1941. The live-action interpretation of “Dumbo” utilizes state-of-the-art visual effects to portray Dumbo and the other animal friends in this film.

ESPN’s College Gameday To Finally Visit Orlando

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom

No…this isn’t your typical Disney post, but as Walt Disney World Resort is in Orlando, the University of Central Florida is in Orlando, and Disney owns ESPN…why not?

You UCF football fans out there are finally getting some of the respect that you’ve been vocal about! ESPN’s College Gameday is making their way to your city to preview the matchup between your #12 ranked Golden Knights and the Cincinnati Bearcats. Join Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, and Rece Davis as they set up shop in your hometown to preview what appears to be a rather lack-luster Saturday of college football.

There’s been an apparent feeling of disrespect among UCF fans after the 2017 college football season. Coming off of a Peach Bowl victory over an Auburn Tiger team who beat two #1 ranked teams during the regular season (both teams of which played in the National Title Game)…some UCF fans are feeling a bit quirky about their current situation. Although the University of Alabama won the actual College Football Playoff National Championship, UCF fans, alum, staff, and faculty have considered themselves co-National Champs! Walt Disney World did too, as they celebrated the Golden Knights and their undefeated season back in January! It’s sure to be a hot topic of conversation starting at 9 AM Eastern time on ESPN.

Be sure to tune in or show up, it’s sure to be a blast! As for Disney…we can only hope that Mickey Mouse makes the short bus ride over to be the guest picker for the day!

New Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Vehicles Revealed

New Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Vehicles Revealed

Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy ride vehicles have been revealed by Disney Chairman of Parks, Bob Chapek at IAAPA 2018. There was so much announced this morning at the IAAPA 2018. We were given the launch date for the Disney Skyliners, details about how Mickey will celebrate his big 90th birthday, new resort plans, and lastly the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride and the vehicle cars.

We were given an exclusive look at the new ride vehicles that will come with the ride in 2021.  Chapek revealed the ride is themed in colors from the starcraft in the Guardians movie with an electric blue base color and neon secondary yellow, silver, and orange colors.

Not only will the ride itself be an amazing new addition to the park, but it will also feature new technology never seen before at Disney parks. “This will be a coaster unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. We call it a storytelling coaster. But on this attraction, each individual cab will be programmed to direct your eye to the story happening around you. Instead of whizzing by the action, you’ll be fully immersed in the story from the minute you launch,” said Chapek.

Take a look at our video below to see how the ride will fully immerse riders in the experience!

More good news, we were told this is just the beginning of what is to come at Epcot “This attraction is a part of a multi-year transformation of Epcot that will honor the park’s original visitor, while making it more timeless, relevant, more family, and more Disney,” said Chapek.

The new Guardians of the Galaxy ride premieres at Epcot in 2021, during the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort Do you have your reservations booked yet?  I can help! Click on the details below to see how you can get your 100% Walt Disney World vacation planning done for you.

Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort Scheduled to Open

With Disney’s ongoing effort to create unique and amazing experiences for guests staying on property, their Coronado Springs Resort (along with many others) has been undergoing refurbishment and construction for quite some time. There finally seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel as Disney Parks announced today that their new Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs is on track to open July of 2019! The 15-story tower will not only stand as the highlighted feature of the newly renovated resort, but it will also serve as the main entrance for guests who are visiting.

Gran Destino Tower will contribute 545 new guest rooms, 50 of which are suites, as well as include a themed restaurant on the top level. It will feature a magnificent 2-story lobby trimmed with classic Spanish themes praising explorers, writers, artists, and architects. The Spanish influences will be felt entirely through the new building and renovated rooms.

Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman, Bob Chapek also announced that the 1800 existing rooms have been entirely completed in refurbishment. This includes new fixtures, furniture, and lighting in each room! In addition to the completion of refurbished rooms and the new tower, a second restaurant will be available to guests. It will sit on the island centered in Lago Dorado. New walkways have also been established over the lake to make dining at the island accessible to all guests no matter where they may be roomed.

With a fresh coat of paint to provide harmony between the existing and new elements of this fabulous resort, we are certain that it will be a “must see.” As with any resort on property, although designed with a Spanish motif, we can entirely expect to see ounces of Disney tossed in here or there. Certainly, the resort will once again become a favorite of guests as it adds a new dimension to Disney theming and immersion while providing a comfortable place to rest after a long day in the parks.

Universal Orlando was ever so kind as to give us a sneak peek of their rooms inside its seventh hotel! Their newest edition, Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites, is scheduled for opening in Summer of 2019 and doesn’t lack the “ohhs” and “ahhs” that you’d expect from a brand-new resort. “Hang ten” as surf culture meets fun at Universal’s first ever value resort!

The new resort is sure to be a “gnarly” addition as it promises 750 guest rooms and 2 bedroom suites. Bedroom suites are said to sleep up to six and are finished with three queen-sized beds. They also include a stand-alone bedroom and kitchenette. Of course, a beach themed resort and hotel wouldn’t be complete without bright design and a beach atmosphere. This resort has it! The striking color patterns and use of wood really drive home that feeling you’d expect to get from a beach bum!

So, what about pricing? Rates look like they will start around $100.00 per night. In addition to being a more affordable option for some guests, they will still be able to enjoy the benefits of staying at a Universal resort. Transportation and early park admission will be included when booking Universal’s newest addition. So, start planning to catch that perfect wave next summer at Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites. It’s sure to be a “radical” addition to Universal Orlando’s current lot of resort options!

Disney Skyliner to Open Fall 2019

Disney Skyliner to Open Fall 2019

Just moments ago while our writer Lisette was on Disney property attending the IAAPA Attractions Expo Breakfast, she discovered some exciting news! Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products announced that the  Disney Skyliner will open in the Fall of 2019!

When completed, the new Skyliner will connect guests to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Carribean Beach Resort, the soon to open Rivera Resort,  Art of Animation Resort, and Pop Century Resort. This new transportation method will do wonders to alleviate heavy bus traffic to those resorts while offering a fun, new way to experience Walt Disney World Resort. The Disney Skyliner will be a gondola system that will give guests a bird’s eye view of the resort property in ways they’ve never experienced before!

With the announcement of a Fall 2019 opening, we can only guess that this opening will be ahead of the opening for Star Wars: Galaxies Edge to help transport the large crowds expected at Hollywood Studios during this time.

We can’t wait to experience this brand new form of transportation at Walt Disney World and are excited we are now less than a year away from being able to!
