Recipe – Fezziwig’s Cranberry Christmas Scones

Recipe - Fezziwig's Cranberry Christmas Scones

The Muppet Christmas Carol is one of my favorite holiday movies.  Since it has the same story, we can throw Disney’s A Christmas Carol in there, too.  It makes sense, then, for me to share with you the recipe to make Fezziwig’s Cranberry Christmas Scones.  They may have changed it to Fozziwig for the Muppets, but that doesn’t change the story, right?  The important part in my book is for the family to be able to enjoy the story, regardless of how it is presented.

Enough talking about movies or we’ll be here all day.  Check out the recipe below!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. of salt
  • 1 tbsp. grated orange zest, packed
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed in small pieces
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup of cold heavy cream
  • 1- 1/4 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 tbsp. of cold heavy cream to brush the tops 2 tbsp. turbinado sugar for sprinkling tops

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Stir together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and orange zest.
  3. With an electric mixer, mix the cold butter cubes into the dry ingredients until fine crumbs form. A few larger bits of butter will remain.
  4. Whisk the egg, and add the cream to a small bowl. Whisk together for a minute. Slowly add small amounts to the dry ingredients with the mixer on low until a thick and stiff dough forms. Fold in the fresh cranberries until mixed in.
  5. Flour a work surface and use hands to flatten out the dough until about 1” thick. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out the scones.
  6. Place the scones on a parchment-covered cookie sheet.
  7. Brush the tops with the cream, and sprinkle the desired amount of sugar on top.
  8. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
  9. Makes about 10 scones.

So Sweet: Hand-Pulled Candy Canes Now On Sale At Disneyland Resort

If you’re a seasonal visitor to Disneyland Resort, you’re probably well aware of the craziness that ensues over candy canes. Sure, candy canes are a normal part of any Christmas themed hot spot, but at Disneyland…people wait for weeks, scrolling through miles of internet boards trying to find release dates for these minty holiday goodies. Visitors even get up extremely early just to wait for eternity in lines for a chance to pick one up! So, what’s the big deal?

Like many things at Disney parks, candy canes seem to taste different! Not only that, they are hand-pulled (traditionally made) and huge. That’s right…we said hand-pulled. In fact, while waiting in line you can watch candy-makers work these candy canes into the final product, which has guests going nuts! Check out the video below for a sneak peek at these talented sugar workers rolling and stretching fresh made candy canes.

So you wanna get your hands on one of these beauties? As we said, be prepared to wait! You’re going to stand in line just to earn your place to stand in another line. No, that wasn’t a joke! There’s a line to get a wristband. After you’ve waited in that line, you get to wait in another line for your candy cane. As Disney does however, the wait isn’t too mundane. Neat photo-opportunities with fun props await those looking to pass a little time while they wait to get their hands on this treat.

So Sweet: Hand-Pulled Candy Canes Now On Sale At Disneyland Resort

Assuming you’re good with standing in line to pick up one of these festive snacks, be prepared to shell out $12.99. Sounds like a lot for a candy cane, but again…this thing is pretty big!

So Sweet: Hand-Pulled Candy Canes Now On Sale At Disneyland Resort

You can pick one of the Christmas beauties up at both The Candy Palace at Disneyland and at Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street at California Adventure. Each spot will be selling these hand-pulled candy canes on separate dates. They’re on sale now on select dates (noted at the bottom of this article). But if you’re gonna try and get one…be early. They almost sold out today!

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at Disney Springs – Review

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at Disney Springs - Review

The Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is now open at Disney Springs. California cuisine has returned to Disney World from the one and only Chef Wolfgang Puck with his signature dishes and cocktails. After a family movie night to watch Ralph Breaks the Internet, we popped over to have a nice family dinner and check out the newest restaurant at Disney Springs.

Gelato Bar

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is located near the AMC theatre and Orange parking garage. It was nice just walking right out of the theatre and right over to the restaurant, especially with the toddler in tow (sans stroller).  But if you want something to satisfy your sweet tooth or a fun drink, stop by their walk-up gelato bar. They offer a wide range of gelato flavors and toppings plus sorbet.

Design

Watching this restaurant go through the build process and finally get to walk through the doors was wonderful.  It is gorgeous. With rustic Californian touches, it is open and airy.

Drink Menu

No matter your preference or palate, the drink menu has something for everyone, even mocktails.  Also, the wine menu is extensive.

Show Me Love – $12

Show me love is created with Sobieski vodka, St.Germain liquor, lychee, and lime.  I LOVE lychee after all the years we lived in Hawaii.  It is hard to find anything made with lychee outside of the islands, though. I was ecstatic when I saw it on the menu.  This West Coast inspired cocktail is sweet and smooth.

Pins & Needles – $15

Pins & Needles comes together with Tanqueray “10” gin, rosemary, and cucumber.  This drink was so refreshing and smooth. I am usually not a fan of gin, but this has changed my mind on that.

Barrel Aged Old-Fashioned- $12

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

The old-fashioned is barrel aged for 30 days. This classic drink is made with Buffalo Trace bourbon, Michter’s rye, and Demerara sugar. My husband is STILL talking about this.  This is his new obsession.

Dinner Menu

The dinner menu features dishes that are fresh and light. The menu really highlights the Californian flare and brings the West Coast here to Disney World.

Starter

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

After orders were placed, our meal began with a beautiful plate of focaccia. It is nice to change up the classic dinner roll.  Not to mention, these were freshly made and served with a wonderful olive oil for dipping.

Seared Florida Red Snapper – $33

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

Using fresh local ingredients is always a win in my book.  When I saw the Seared Florida Red Snapper on the menu, I had to have it. Perfectly seared, the red snapper is served with ‘aqua pazza’, clams, olives, mussels, and fingerling potatoes.  If you love seafood, then order this!

Chicken Schnitzel – $27

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

Raised in a German household, my husband loves schnitzel. He said his oma would approve of this chicken schnitzel! Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just the way it should be.  It is served with marinated tomatoes, fingerling potatoes, dill cucumbers, and mache.

Kid’s Menu

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

With ample choices for even the pickiest child, the kid’s menu is great.

Cheeseburger –  $11

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

This is not your average kid’s cheeseburger and fries.  On a freshly toasted bun, a juicy burger patty is smothered in American cheese, lettuce, and red onion.  My son gobbled it right up!

Cheese Pizza- $10

When this cheese pizza came out, I thought it was an adult pie.  This is real pizza. I mean look at that crust. When my toddler was not looking I snuck a slice aka mommy tax.  It is amazing!

Overall Thoughts

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill - Review

When your toddler, tween, and husband all give an ecstatic thumbs up, you know the restaurant is a winner!  My family thoroughly enjoyed the new Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at Disney Springs.  The service and food were spectacular. Ralph and Vanellope Now Meeting at Epcot

Ralph and Vanellope
Ralph and Vanellope

Everyone’s favorite bad guy/glitch duo has arrived at Epcot. To celebrate the opening of “Ralph Breaks the Internet” Ralph and Vanellope are temporarily greeting guests at The Character spot in Innovations West.

Ralph and Vanellope Now Meeting at EpcotThere was a lot of concern that this meet and great could replace either BayMaxx or Joy and Sadness at the Character Spot but we are pleased to report that will not be the case.

Ralph and Vanellope Now Meeting at Epcot

While this is a temporary meet and greet location, it does seem that the characters are here to stay! Later this season the duo will be moving into to Imageworks as a longterm meet and greet location.

Ralph and Vanellope Now Meeting at Epcot

In the meantime though, the meet and greet location at the Character Spot is very well marked, so finding it should be a breeze!

Beignet Burger is Divine – Review

Beignet Burger is Divine - Review

Beignet Burger is Divine - Review

The Beignet Burger is absolutely divine at the Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory. Float own down the bayou to Walt Disney World’s Port Orleans French Quarter to find this extraordinary cheeseburger. Beignets and burgers who knew?! Initially, I have to say I was pretty skeptical. All I can say now is MIND BLOWN!

A juicy burger patty is topped with melty American cheese, bacon jam, shredded lettuce, pickled onions, house-made pickles, and bayou barbeque sauce. Two light and fluffy freshly fried beignets create the most delicious burger buns! I am rarely at a loss for words, but after my first bite, I was like O.M.G.!!!! For $14.49, it comes with a choice of two sides – cole slaw, french fries, or potato chips.  I chose the potato chips and coleslaw. Pro tip – use the chips to scoop up your coleslaw LOL!

GO! Just go to Port Orleans French Quarter and order the beignet burger! This burger is the epitome of the harmony between sweet and savory. Will you be trying this delight on your next Disney World vacation? Post in the comments below. Stay hungry Disney friends!

Ralph Breaks VR at The Void Disney Springs

Ralph Breaks VR at The Void

Ralph Breaks VR at The Void

Ralph Breaks VR is now at The Void in Disney Springs.  My son and I had the honor of being one of the first guests to “break into the internet” with everyone’s favorite arcade game characters – Wreck-it Ralph and Vanellope Von Schweetz.

Pricing

Monday – Thursday: $29.95 (ages 10+)

Friday – Sunday: $32.95 (ages 10+)

After all the necessary forms were filled out for myself and son (The Void experiences are for guests ages 10 and up), we each chose our game avatars.  With six different game personas to choose from, my son picked the “sun,” and I picked the health card.  Each character card has different pro tips for the game, so make sure to read them on the back of each card.  Then, it was time to head into the briefing room to receive our “mission” and sync up by linking our bands with our avatars.

Ralph Breaks VR at The Void

Did I mention my son LOVES The Void?! He was so excited once we got into the gear room, and it was time to suit up.  With vests on and our VR helmets securely fastened, it was time to experience Ralph Breaks VR! The cast member escorted us to our room, we flipped down our visor, and we were immediately transformed into our avatars.  I love the fact that my son is his actual size in the game.  It is SO cool.  The virtual reality technology is unbelievable! We did some quick high fives and off we went into the internet.

Ralph Breaks VR at The Void

OK ok, I do not want to give any spoilers, but I have some game tips.  Look around. I mean really look around because the internet is mesmerizing.  The details, colors, and games you play with Ralph and Vanellope are extraordinary. You feel like you are part of the game like holding onto the rail as you look out over the wifi. Do not worry though; the game does not give spoilers away from the movie, either.

Overall Thoughts

Ralph Breaks VR at The Void

Wow just WOW! My son and I had a blast.  The virtual reality fully immerses you in the land of the internet with Ralph and Vanellope, and it is astounding. I think a lot of people do not realize, that The Void is a great place for families (as long as your kids are 10+).  I love spending quality time with my son like that especially in a team scenario where we need to work together, and it is FUN!  We are already planning to go back.
