The Nightmare Before Christmas In 4D At The El Capitan Theatre

The Nightmare Before Christmas In 4D At The El Capitan Theatre

We had the amazing opportunity to see Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in 4D at the famous El Capitan Theatre! This showing is part of the El Capitan’s Fall Family Classics series.

We started off in the lower level of the theater to see a special exhibit in honor of the film. There was fan art and concept art. We even got to see set pieces they used in the stop motion creation of the movie. The set piece we were most excited to see was the Spiral Mountain where Jack expresses his lament.

As we made our way to the theatre to be seated, we couldn’t help but notice all the themed decor. There were Christmas lights draped from above and other Nightmare Before Christmas scenes depicted throughout the theatre. As the sounds of the vintage Wurlitzer organ filled the area, it felt like Halloween Time has officially begun! The work that the El Capitan put into the ambiance of this series is something to marvel.

The Nightmare Before Christmas In 4D At The El Capitan Theatre

Before the film started, producer Don Hahn and author Dave Bossert graced the El Capitan stage. Together they shared details and video footage of the making of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

During the special screening, the effects added to the over all excitement and experience of the film. The projections of ghosts added a spooky cool vibe. The Christmas lights during “What’s This?” were as whimsical as the song. Rolling fog emerged from the stage as the tension started to build when Sally tries to delay Jack taking flight with Zero. As the snowflakes fell from the ceiling, it tied everything together and there was a thunderous applause!

Study by Cal State Shows Disneyland Resort Creates $8.5 Billion Economic Impact in Southern California

DL Jobs

DL Jobs

A recent study by three Cal State Fullerton economists determined that in the fiscal year ending in 2018 Disneyland Resort created $8.5 billion in economic impact and more than 78,000 jobs in Southern California. The study confirms that Disneyland Resort continues to be a major generator of jobs and catalyst for Southern California tourism while driving significant municipal and state tax revenue.

The study by Anil PuriAaron Popp and Adrian Fleissig of Cal State Fullerton’s Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting shows that Disneyland Resort’s economic impact has jumped by 50 percent since 2013, as a result of its continued investment and business growth. The resort’s $8.5 billion in economic impact to Southern California is generated by the millions of visitors who stay in the Anaheim and Orange County area and their offsite purchases totaling $2.5 billion at local businesses.

“Tourism is one of the major and growing segments of the economy as consumers shift more of their spending to leisure activities. Disneyland Resort has shown phenomenal growth,” said Puri, director of the Woods Center. “Disneyland Resort also plays an important role in propelling the economy forward through programs like Disney Aspire, a free education program, and other programs offering skills for economic mobility and advancement.”

Disneyland Resort’s impact on jobs in Southern California has grown at a 7.2 percent average annual rate since 2013, surpassing the rate of job growth in the same region. Disneyland generates more than 78,000 jobs in Southern California. More than 57,000 of those jobs, or 73 percent, are in Orange County and account for 3.6 percent of all jobs in Orange County.

“Since 2013, Southern California has seen average employment growth of 2.3 percent per year, according to the State of California’s Employment Development Department,” said Popp. “Disneyland’s overall effect on employment has risen at more than triple that rate.”

The study, which focused on the fiscal year from October 2017 to September 2018, also determined that Disneyland Resort, its employees, visitors and supporting third-party businesses, generated nearly $510 million in annual state and local tax revenue, an increase of more than $136 million in tax contributions, or 6 percent average annual growth since 2013. Nearly $162 million in tax revenue went to Anaheim’s general fund.

Josh D’Amaro, president of Disneyland Resort, shared some of the CSUF economist’s findings during a keynote at a Sept. 13 OC Forum luncheon. The study outlines Disneyland Resort’s economic impact on the seven-county Southern California region and throughout the state, along with direct, indirect and induced impacts, which the economists estimated using IMPLAN, an input-output model.

Jungle Cruise Skippers Give Tour of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion in Honor of Its 50th Anniversary

Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary

Did you ever wonder what would happen if you crossed the Haunted Mansion with the Jungle Cruise? Well you don’t need to wonder anymore! In honor of the Haunted Mansion’s 50th anniversary, Disneyland Jungle Cruise skippers have decided it’s time to voyage away from the river and into the spookiest ride at the park. The result? Hauntingly hilarious.

The Jungle Cruise has always been known for its punny wit, and now the newly-released video tour of the manor offers that unique style of humor that only a jungle navigator can deliver. The two guides, Skipper Nick and Skipper Jen, start outside, commenting on their ”dead” walkie talkies and suggesting they ”bury” the bad jokes. Moving through the elevator and into the doom buggy itself, the playful pair quip their way through the entire ride, even going so far as to guess Madame Leota’s hat size. Apparently she’s a ”medium.” Insert laughter here.

At the end of the ride, the skippers turn a familiar line from the Jungle Cruise into their farewell to the ghostly abode: ”Now it’s time for the most dangerous turn in our journey… Our return to the mortal realm.” They manage to use phrases from the Cruise throughout the tour, simply adjusted to their eerie surroundings. It’s ghoulish fun!

YouTube player

To hear these jokes and many more, fans of the Jungle Cruise and/or the Haunted Mansion will want to check out the video for themselves. Disneyland certainly knows how to celebrate our favorite rides in new and hilarious ways! We hope to see more creative videos like this in the future!
