Disney CEO Bob Iger Resigns From Apple Board Over Streaming Conflict

Disney CEO Bob Iger Resigns From Apple Board Over Streaming Conflict

Apple has confirmed that Disney CEO Bob Iger has resigned from Apple’s Board of Directors after a conflict arose over the launching of the new Disney+ streaming service and Apple TV+ streaming service.

According to Apple, Iger resigned on September 10, 2019, which was the same day Apple announced the launch date and price of its new Apple TV+ streaming service.  Disney+ has long ago announced its new streaming service will debut on November 12, 2019.  Apple has since announced its new streaming service will debut on November 1, 2019, which created the first conflict of potentially many as both services compete for original content.

Bob Iger released a statement in regards to his resignation, “It has been an extraordinary privilege to have served on the Apple board for 8 years, and I have the utmost respect for Tim Cook, his team at Apple, and for my fellow board members,”

Iger went on to say, “Apple is one of the world’s most admired companies, known for the quality and integrity of its products and its people, and I am forever grateful to have served as a member of the company’s board.”

Apple also released the statement, “Bob has been an exemplary board member for nearly eight years, and for as long as he has led Disney he has been one of Apple’s most trusted business partners. He is a dedicated, visionary CEO and a role model for an entire generation of business leaders. More than anything, Bob is our friend. He leads with his heart and he has always been generous with his time and advice. While we will greatly miss his contributions as a board member, we respect his decision and we have every expectation that our relationship with both Bob and Disney will continue far into the future.”

The resignation comes after a long-standing partnership between Disney and Apple. Iger and Apple CoFounder Steve Jobs were good friends and jobs served on Disney’s board until his death in 2011.   It has been said Jobs asked Iger to take his place on the Apple board when he died with Iger joining the board that year.

Disney CEO Bob Iger was also the chair of Apple’s corporate governance committee and on Apple’s compensation board, according to the company’s proxy filing earlier this year.  In addition,  Disney bought Jobs’ other company, Pixar, in 2006.

Awkwafina Cast in Live-Action Remake of The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid

The much-anticipated The Little Mermaid live-action remake finally has their Scuttle and her name is Awkwafina. Joining stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, and according to rumors, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina is among many well-known performers but she can certainly hold her own and has proven it in the past.

As a comedienne on an upcoming Comedy Central show about her own upbringing in Queens and a star of the recent film The Farewell, Awkwafina is well-versed in both humor and drama. She also stars in the yet-to-be-released Jumanji: The Next Level alongside Dwayne Johnson. She’s remained tight-lipped about her involvement in The Little Mermaid until the news recently broke, but rumors have been swirling for a while. The project comes at a busy but critical peak in her career, and apparently, she has had her eye on the part, claiming she would be ”more than honored” and that ”That’s my princess right there” (Marie Claire). She is a surprising choice for the role, seeing that the part has traditionally been played by a male, but Disney has recently shown a penchant for doing the unexpected. Unexpected and often delightful!

Not all rumors surrounding The Little Mermaid film have been as accurate. Although Harry Styles had been rumored for the part of Prince Eric in earlier days, he has recently confirmed that he would not be taking on the role. The part of Prince Eric remains up for grabs as far as the public knows.

One thing is for certain: the all-star cast is an excellent one and this film remains under tight watch by many. With Awkwafina playing the hilarious seagull that we all know and love already, the project seems only to have become more intriguing. Production is set to begin in 2020 and until its release, we can only wonder what fresh perspective this film will bring to our favorite little mermaid. We can’t wait to be part of her world again!

James Gunn Confirms Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Will Be His Last

James Gunn Confirms Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Will Be His Last

It seems that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be James Gunn’s last movie with the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. The original plan for the characters has been fulfilled by making a trilogy and overlapping with two of the Avengers movies.

Gunn responded to a question asked on one of his Instagram posts how many Guardians of the Galaxy movies he was directing, in which he responded “1 more”.

There is no way to tell if Gunn could or would change his mind at a later date, and possibly work for Marvel Studios again or even make a fourth Guardians movie. Right now, he’s sticking to the current plan of only making one more movie.

Gunn is scheduled to work with Warner Brothers on the DC Comics movie The Suicide Squad. The movie is set to start filming in Atlanta next month and scheduled to release on August 6, 2021. No release date has been set for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 until Gunn has finished production on The Suicide Squad.

No details have been given yet for Guardians Vol 3, but we can expect Star-Lord, Groot, Drax, Mantis, and Rocket tracking down the Gamora from 2014 and dealing with the chaos leftover from Avengers: Endgame. Not sure if Thor is going to be a factor in the movie even though he was last seen aboard their ship.

What are you hoping for in Guardians of the Galaxy 3? Let us know your thoughts.

Greg Kimberlin with Big O Tires says “It’s a great thing to do, and it’s a great way to help a family who is going through the issues they’re going through. It just allows the entire family to escape and be a family and be a kid.”

All donations to Make-A-Wish stay 100% local as Cassidy Hyde states with Make-A-Wish. “All the money we raise in Kentucky and southern Indiana stays here to grant wishes for kids in Kentucky and southern Indiana.”

Logan and his family will be going to Disney World for a week at the end of September.

Christmas in the Wizarding World with ‘Hogwarts in the Snow’ in London

Celebrate Christmas in the Wizarding World

You can now experience Christmas in the Wizarding World! Hogarts in the Snow is returning to the Studio Tour in London Saturday, November 16th, 2019 to Sunday, January 26th, 2020.

The festive celebration will begin in the famous Great Hall which will be decorated with Christmas trees trimmed with golden baubles and witches on broomsticks. The well-known dining tables will adorned with the seasonal feasts just as they were at Hogwarts. Christmas puddings and real flames included! The stage will be a mirror image of how it was for the iconic Yule Ball scene from “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”. You will also get to set your sights on the snow-covered Christmas trees, icicles, and the orchestra of magical instruments.

Learn how filmmakers created a magical snow that never melts and flames without fire. You will get to feel the different types of “movie snow”. One that floats like falling snowflakes and one that crunches when you step on it like ice. As you travel around the Studio Tour, look out for burning fireplaces and learn how fire was created for the “Harry Potter” films. Here’s a hint: water vapor and lighting effects are involved!

Lastly, during Hogwarts in the Snow, many of the famous sets will get a holiday makeover. The Weasley kitchen will be decked with Christmas crackers and a festive feast. The Gryffindor common room and the Boys’ dormitory will be decorated with original props from the film series.

A model of the Hogwarts Castle will be set in a winter wonderland. During the filming process, a member of the crew hand-sprinkled a mixture of granulated paper and grains of salt onto the model with a sieve. This helped achieve the perfect “fresh snow” look.

Ticket prices are £45.00 per adult, £37.00 per child, and £148.00 per family (2 adults, 2 children or 1 adult, 3 children).

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to celebrate Christmas in the Wizarding World?

A Disney Original Gargoyles Headed to the List of Disney+ Lineup

The 25th anniversary of the series premiere will occur shortly after the launch of Disney+, which Keith David was quick to jump on the idea of a potential Gargoyles reboot if the chance ever came to fruition.  “You know, those of us who were involved from the beginning… I’ve always wondered why they stopped it in the first place,” after show was canceled after three short seasons. “[We’ve wondered] why we haven’t come back to a reboot. I mean, I would love nothing more than to revisit Goliath. You know, he was absolutely one of my very, very, very, very favorite characters. I’ve always maintained that when I grow up, I want to be like Goliath.”

As of right now, it will be unclear if all three seasons will make their way to the Disney+ platform on the initial launch date of November 12th.

We don’t know about you, but either way, we are looking for the Old school afternoon block shows!  What are you most looking forward to or are hoping to see on Disney+?
