Dining Reservations are now available for Disneyland

We are 8 days away from the reopening of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure! In preparation for the reopening, advanced dining reservations for the parks opened up today.

Dining Reservations are now available for Disneyland

If you are planning on visiting the Disneyland Resort when the parks reopen, you’ll want to dine at your favorite restaurant. It is highly recommended to make reservations for table service restaurants. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance. If you are visiting Disneyland within the first few weeks of its reopening, you’ll want to get those reservations made fast! They are sure to fill up.

Keep in mind, not all Disneyland restaurants will be reopening with the parks. Some options, including popular character dining, will be on hiatus until further notice. Here is the list of table service restaurants that are reopening on April 30:

Disneyland Restaurants

Cafe Orleans – Table Service – Reservations Recommended
Plaza Inn — with modified service and menu – Table Service
River Belle Terrace – Table Service – Reservations Recommended

Disney California Adventure Restaurants

Carthay Circle Lounge — Alfresco Dining- Table Service- Reservations Recommended
Lamplight Lounge- Table Service – Reservations Recommended

Remember, until further notice, only California residents are allowed to visit Disneyland. Guests also need to have park reservations along with valid admission in order to enter a park.

Passholders will receive an exclusive opportunity* to experience VelociCoaster before the attraction’s grand opening at select times on the following dates:

• Sunday, May 2
• Monday, May 3
• Tuesday, May 4
• Wednesday, May 5

Where: Universal’s Islands of Adventure

Registration is required. Due to limited capacity, we cannot accommodate non-registered Passholders. There will not be a standby line.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Daughter Finally Believes He is Maui in Moana. After several years of trying to convince his daughter he plays Maui in Moana (and there are plenty of social media posts confirming this), The Rock has shared that his daughter Tiana (Tia) has finally realized he was telling the truth!

Tiana recently celebrated her 3rd birthday with the family, and according to Dwayne, now that she knows he is Maui she asked him if he knows her favorite superhero: Aquaman. The Rock shared an adorable birthday post for Tia to Instagram that read:

“Happy Birthday to my sweetest lil’ Tia Giana ??? Loving, kind, tenacious and tough (like your mama;) and my greatest joy is being your daddy. I always, “got you”. Now that she’s finally starting to understand that daddy is Maui from MOANA, she has one very important question —“Daddy do you know AquaMan?” ?

Disney World To Develop Two New Solar Facilities

We have great news to share on Earth Day! Disney World is working on two new solar facilities that is planned to power 40% of their annual energy consumption.

Here are the details:

Walt Disney World has been basking in the glow of the Sunshine State and using solar energy for several years, and today, Walt Disney World and Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) are teaming up with local utility partners in Central Florida to develop two new 75MW solar facilities, which are expected to come online in approximately two years.

These new solar projects add to a not-so-hidden Mickey shaped solar array, built in collaboration with RCID and Duke Energy, sharing that authentic Disney flair across 22 acres of land, as well as the massive 270-acre, 57MW solar facility built in partnership with RCID and Origis Energy USA. When combined, Walt Disney World’s total solar facilities will produce enough renewable energy to power up to 40% of its total annual energy consumption.

Since 2009, Disney has operated under a long-term vision to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions, and they are just getting started. Their new set of ambitions goals commit them to achieve net zero emissions for their direct operations by 2030.

New Disney and Sony Deal Will Allow Two Classic Muppets Movies to Stream on Disney+

New Disney and Sony Deal Will Allow Two Classic Muppets Movies to Stream on Disney+. A new deal has been struck between Disney and Sony Pictures that will bring several new titles from Sony over to Disney+! This includes two classic Muppets movies: The Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets in Space. Both Muppets films were released theatrically under the Sony owned TriStar Pictures banner in partnership with Henson Associates.

According to the new deal, Disney will have U.S. Rights to new Theatrical Releases from Sony Pictures from 2022-2026 following their Pay 1 TV Window and library titles from Sony Pictures for Disney’s Streaming Services including Disney+ and Hulu and Linear Networks such as ABC, FX and Freeform.

The Muppets Take Manhattan

“When Kermit the Frog and friends start a stage act, they decide to take the show from their college town to Broadway. However, once the Muppets wind up in New York City, they have difficulty finding financial support for the production, instead running into cheats like Murray Plotsky (Dabney Coleman). Unable to stage the show, the group splits up, and they all take different jobs around the country. Just as Kermit thinks he has finally found a backer, an accident gives him amnesia.“

Muppets in Space

“With enormous enthusiasm and unsinkable optimism, daredevil Gonzo steps into his first starring role in “Muppets From Space,” a hilarious extraterrestrial adventure about the search for Gonzo’s past. On a quest with buddy Rizzo to find his real family, Gonzo discovers that his long-lost relatives are actually aliens from a distant planet.“

It is currently unknown when the films will be available to stream via Disney+.

Marvel Studios Hawkeye Disney+ Series Has Finished Filming. According to series star, Jeremy Renner, the first season of the Hawkeye series has wrapped filming! The series has yet to release a formal release date, but the show is slated to premiere later this year exclusively on Disney+.

“Hawkeye, which debuts on Disney+ in late 2021, stars Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, who teams up with another well-known archer from the Marvel comics, Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The cast also includes Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. Hawkeye is helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie.”

Cirque du Soleil's Drawn to Life expected to open this fall in Disney Springs

In a recent interview with LA Times Chief Executive Daniel Lamarre shared details on the opening of Cirque du Soleil’s “Drawn to Life” coming to Disney Springs.

Originally “Drawn to Life,” was set to open in Spring 2020 at Disney Springs but due to the COVID-19 shutdown at Disney World, the opening was pushed with no opening date in sight.

However yesterday Daniel shared some great news!

Cirque is also working on setting a new opening date for “Drawn to Life,” its collaboration with Disney that was set to open in Orlando, Fla., last year. “It’s a tribute to Disney animation, and we felt honored to have the opportunity to do a show with the IP [intellectual property] of Disney,” Lamarre said. “We should be able to open sometime in the fall.”

Drawn to life follows the story of Julie, a courageous and determined girl who discovers an unexpected gift left by her late father: an unfinished animation piece. Guided by a surprising pencil, she embarks on an inspiring quest sprinkled with her Disney childhood memories. Through this journey, she learns to imagine new possibilities and animate the story of her future.

“Drawn to Life” is the product of a collaboration between Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering.

LeVar Burton to Guest Host Jeopardy! during Hosting Try-Outs

LeVar Burton to Guest Host Jeopardy! during Hosting Try-Outs. Exciting news for Jeopardy! fans, the last group of guest hosts has been announced. The final guests hosts for season 37 include: Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, David Faber, Joe Buck, and LeVar Burton! There have been several campaigns online to get LeVar Burton to replace Alex Trebek as the Jeopardy! host and it seems the producers are willing to listen to fans.

Trebek, passed away in late 2020 at his home surrounded by friends and family. Alex Trebek had shared his diagnosis in a shocking clip on Jeopardy! in 2019, stating that he had Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Trebek hosted the iconic quiz show from 1984-2020. The last episodes filmed with Trebek as the host are set to run through the end of the year, but the long running quiz series will need a new host very soon to keep the series running.

Hilary Duff Cast in ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Sequel Series Coming to Hulu

Hilary Duff Cast in ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Sequel Series Coming to Hulu. Disney has just announced a new sequel series to 20th Television’s How I Met Your Mother, named How I Met Your Father, that will star Hilary Duff in the leading role. Duff’s character will play a similar protagonist role to Ted in the original series, with her character explaining to her son how she met their father back in the day.

The series synopsis reads: “Set in the near future, the show will follow Sophie (Duff) telling her son the story of how she met his father back in the year 2021, when Sophie and her close-knit group of friends were figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

Hilary Duff will not only act in the series, but is slated to be a producer for the show as well. Joining Duff are How I Met Your Father creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger (This Is Us), with the original How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas signed on as executive producers for the upcoming series.

“How I Met Your Mother is a crown jewel in the [20th Television] library and its fans have clamored for more ever since our final broadcast seven years ago,” shared 20th Television president Karey Burke s in a statement. “Our genius producers Isaac and Elizabeth who are — wait for it — legendary within our halls, have created a spectacular new take which both honors the original and is entirely their own.”

“Carter and Craig will return as executive producers and who better to star as the central character than the incredible Hilary Duff? Many thanks to Craig Erwich and everyone at Hulu Originals for loving the script as much as we did and to our fantastic team who helped put this all together. I could not be more excited. Let the speculation as to who the father is commence!”

Currently, 20th Television has ordered 10-episodes for the series, but pending the success of the show there is a good chance several new seasons will be picked up at a later date. Hulu has yet to share when the series will premiere on the streaming service, so be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Hulu!
