Missing some Disney magic in your kitchen? What about some delicious Mickey Raspberry Macarons!
Macarons is a treat that can be found around the Walt Disney World Resort in different flavors and colors. This time we have a recipe with a delicious raspberry filling and of course putting that disney touch by making it Mickey shaped!
Combine powdered sugar and almond flour in an electric mixer until fine. Add 1/3 tbs egg whites and food coloring to make a paste in the electric mixer. Make sure the egg whites are room temperature before using.
Boil the sugar and water in a small pot and bring to 260F. Whip 1/3 tbs of egg whites. Pour the hot sugar syrup into the egg whites on the side of the bowl and whip at a high speed until thickened to form the meringue.
Add 1/3 of the meringue to the almond flour mixture and combine, repeating with the rest of the meringue and making sure to deflate the mixture.
Fill a piping bag with a round #6 tip with the mixture. Place wax paper onto a baking sheet, and pipe the mixture into 3/4 inch round discs onto the sheet. Let sit for 35 minutes before baking in the oven.
Place the macaroons in the oven and immediately turn down the oven temperature to 285F. Bake for 10 minutes and then take out of the oven to cool.
When cool, turn over half of the macarons and pipe raspberry jam on the flat surface and add the raspberries. Place another macaron on top of the jam.
Josh Lucas and Reese Witherspoon are Both Interested in a ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ Sequel with Disney. Recently, actor Josh Lucas expressed great interest in filming a sequel to the hit early 2000’s movie Sweet Home Alabama. Lucas shared: “Look, I would love to do the sequel. The issue is Reese’s [Witherspoon] got a book club. And I’m saying that like laughingly, but Reese is, you know, I’ve heard like, ‘Oh, you can talk to her about stuff five years from now.’ You know, she’s a mogul.”
He continued, “And back when I was doing Sweet Home Alabama, I, for some reason, remember telling the director or somebody speaking about her, but I said, ‘I bet this woman ends up running a movie studio one day.’ And she’s even beyond that at this point. … I mean it’s extraordinary and not surprising either, at all.”
Back in 2016, Reese had also shared an interest in a second movie during a Facebook live chat, “I love Sweet Home Alabama! We are not making a sequel that I know of, but if Disney wants to call me, I would happily make a Sweet Home Alabama 2!”
Personally, I feel a Sweet Home Alabama sequel would do well as an exclusive title on Disney+, but it doesn’t sound like a sequel is actively in development at the studio. Should the right ears hear about the stars’ interest in a second film we may get the chance! Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Disney!
Clark Gregg teases Agent Coulson’s Return to the MCU in Marvel Studios’ “What If…?” Animated Disney+ Series. This August a new animated series called What If…? will be joining the Disney+ library and is based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name. The show will explore what would happen if major moments from the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) occurred differently.
Avengersstar Clark Gregg has Marvel fans convinced he will return as Agent Phil Coulson in What if…? after posting the new trailer along with the caption: “Enter the multiverse of unlimited possibilities. Marvel Studios’ first animated series, [What If…?], starts streaming August 11 with new episodes Wednesdays on @DisneyPlus. You never know who might show up.“
Coulson’s last appearance in the MCU was a cameo appearance in Captain Marvel as a young field agent. Clark Gregg also starred in the hit ABC Marvel series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Coulson which is currently listed as a “non-canon” series in international Marvel categories of Disney+. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. took place following the events of Avengers, and aired from 2013-2020 on ABC. Gregg and his daughter Stella also recently attended the premiere of Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, giving credence to the idea that he will be returning to Marvel in the near future.
Which characters are you excited to see in What If…? on Disney+? What storylines do you hope make it to the series? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Disney+ and Marvel!
Christmas Trees and Gingerbread Displays coming to Select Disney World Resorts. In the past, Gingerbread houses have been a draw to a select number of Disney World Resorts. Unquestionably, the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is the most well-known for its amazing Gingerbread house creation. Being featured on many TV Shows Chritsmas editions. Along with The Contemporary’s Gingerbread house, we cannot think of 2 more famous houses made of Ginger.
With the big Halfway to the Holiday’s announcement this morning from Disney parks Blog, it appears we will be seeing the return of Disney’s Gingerbread houses. We do not have word yet on which Resorts are getting the houses yet. Prior resorts included Grand Floridian, The Contemporary, Yacht and Beach Club, and more recently, Wilderness Lodge.
Our Disney Resort hotels will be decked for the holidays, with iconic trees and other seasonal touches. And a guest favorite will return this year, as select gingerbread displays will once again be part of our holiday season! Also at select resorts, you will find restaurants offering holiday menus and specialty food and drink.
We are looking forward to the giant Christmas Trees return to Wilderness Lodge, unfortunately, we do not have word on which resorts will have the return of the Trees. When we do we will pass that info along right away.
Chris Hemsworth Voiced “Throg” in the Latest Episode of ‘Loki’ on Disney+. Marvel Comic fans were thrilled to see an unexpected character cameo in the latest episode of Loki and it wasn’t another Loki! Keen-eyed fans were quick to spot “Throg” (an iteration of Thor in the comics as a frog, previously named Puddlegulp) trapped in a jar underground in The Void. Executive Producer and Episode Director Kate Herron shared that instead of using recycled audio or another voice actor for the brief cameo they actually got Chris Hemsworth to record Throg’s lines for the series.
Herron shared during an interview with the For All Nerds podcast, “Throg, getting him in [was fun]. We recorded Chris Hemsworth for that, by the way. I haven’t told anyone that yet, by the way, but we recorded him for that, so that’s a new recording. That’s a whole new recording and not recycled.”
Throg was featured briefly in episode 5 of Loki trapped in a jar labeled “T365” and within inches of a pruned version of Mjolnir. The episode featured several other comic book cameo’s, with one of the most unexpected sightings including the Thanos-Copter, Yellow Jacket’s Helmet, Ronan’s ship, Stark Tower with the “Qeng” company logo (who purchased the building from Stark Industries) and the USS Eldridge which reportedly “turned invisible” in the “Philadelphia Experiment,” but in the series is consumed by the insatiable Alioth.
Which Easter eggs did you notice in the new episode? Are you enjoying the series so far? Where do you think Loki and Sylvie are going and who will they find at the end of time? Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Marvel!

2021 Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House at Disneyland Park. Every year for the past 20 years Disneyland has transformed the Haunted Mansion with “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay. One of the major traditions is the Gingerbread House that graces the Grand Hall, and this year celebrates the past 20 years. We are thrilled to bring you some awesome news regarding the Gingerbread house for this year’s Holiday.
Season’s Screamings! As we announced last week, the Halloween season will once again return to life at the Disneyland Resort from Sept. 3 – Oct. 31. We are pleased that Haunted Mansion Holiday will also return for its 20th season! This merry makeover of the eerie estate, inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” celebrates the collision of Halloween and Christmas.
A favorite tradition is the yearly changing gingerbread house, which graces the mansion’s Grand Hall. Since today marks our Halfway to the Holidays, we’re excited to give you a first look at this year’s gingerbread house!
We chatted with Tim Wollweber, associate art director for Disney Parks, who designed this year’s house. For 2021, the team decided to pay homage to all previous houses in celebration of this beloved tradition’s 20th anniversary. Tim mentioned, “we went back to the graveyard to dig up all of our ideas from the past 19 years. This year’s Franken-house stitches together favorite elements from the previous 19 houses!”
The houses seem to get more elaborate each year, and for 2021, it’s no exception! As you can see in the rendering above, a piece from each house is represented in this year’s house to create a visually chaotic, yet perfect Dr. Finkelstein-esque mashup! Tim’s favorite element? The giant man-eating wreath from 2005!
2001 – Monster House
2002 – Present House
2003 – Giant Oogie Boogie House
2004 – Zero’s Dog House
2005 – Giant Man-eating Wreath House
2006 – Monster-infested House
2007 – Jack-in-the Box House
2008 – Giant Gingerbread Coffin House
2009 – Scary-Go-Round House
2010 – Pop-Up Sandy Claws House
2011 – Mimic Monster House
2012 – Jack Skellington’s House
2013 – 13 Days of Christmas House
2014 – Gingerbread Zombie House
2015 – Gingerbread Card House
2016 – Stitched-Up-Patchwork House
2017 – Oogie Boogie Bug-infested House
2018 – Giant Gingerbread Spider House
2019 – Haunted Mansion 50 Years of Hauntings House
One more scar-ific surprise! There’s no better way to commemorate 20 years of screams than with all-new merchandise honoring the Haunted Mansion Holiday anniversary! Coming on Sept. 27 only at Disneyland Resort, here’s a first look at a new canteen by Corkcicle, pins, and even a T-shirt celebrating the seasonal attraction!
Disney Cruise Line is also celebrating Halfway to the Holidays with the return of their Very Merrytime Cruises in 2021!
From the catchy holiday jingles, themed food and gatherings with family and cherished loved ones, there are so many reasons why it truly is the most wonderful time of the year!
Whether you are looking for a new family tradition or just simply want to add some cheer to the season, Disney Cruise Line has an option to make the magic of the holidays come alive – Very Merrytime Cruises!
From early November through December, the Disney Cruise Line fleet is decked from bow-to-stern with holiday cheer and entertainment during Very Merrytime Cruises. Holiday magic is unwrapped for the whole family with festive holiday decor, favorite characters in their finest holiday attire and a special visit from none other than Santa Claus.
Here are some of our favorite things about these special holiday sailings onboard Disney Cruise Line.
Holly Jolly Decor
When you enter the atrium for the first time on your Very Merrytime Cruise, your eyes will likely be immediately drawn to the three-deck-tall Christmas tree. That’s right – from garlands, poinsettias and shimmering lights, décor will fill the nooks and crannies of our ships during these holiday sailings, filling your vacation with holiday merriment from the moment you step on board!
Santa Claus!
What’s a holiday cruise without Santa and Mrs. Claus? We may not be at the North Pole, but you can still be on the lookout for sightings of ‘Old Saint Nick’ while you’re on board, and you won’t want to miss one of our favorite Disney Cruise Line traditions – Storytime with Mrs. Claus.
Characters in holiday attire
Whether it’s Mickey in his winter sweater, Pluto with antlers or Goofy in a full-fledged Santa suit, your favorite characters will be dressed in their finest holiday garb during Very Merrytime Cruises.
Castaway Cay
My favorite thing to do for the holidays is trade in white snow for the white sand beaches on Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island. But even though you may be in the Bahamas, this slice of paradise is decked for the holidays as well – with a tropical flair, of course! A massive Christmas tree, holiday island music and even “snow” flurries await your family, guaranteeing that the only “blue” you’ll be feeling this holiday season is the color of the crystal-clear waters!
Looking on the Disney Cruise Line Website there are many Very Merrytime Cruises to choose from! So why not book a cruise for the Holidays today!
