Jerry Bruckheimer Gives Update on National Treasure 3. It has been 15 years since we have heard from Benjamen Franklin Gates, and in that time speculation has run rampant on if we will ever see him in a new Jerry Bruckheimer movie. It seems Mr. Bruckheimer is very open about his Disney franchise movies, he recently spoke about the future of Pirates of the Caribbean.
National Treasure: Edge of History is running strong on Dinsey + and the producer recently spoke about a 3rd movie.”Bruckheimer mentioned that they are still developing a new film, once again mentioning that Nicolas Cage was attached to the project” When speaking to E! News he said.
“We said we’d like to make another National Treasure and they said, ‘Sure, let’s come up with a new cast,’” Bruckheimer said. “At the same time, we were developing National Treasure for the theaters with Nicolas Cage — which we still are. So, that’s ongoing.”
When discussing his most surprising success Jerry Said “Pirates was based on a theme park ride. Disney had made Country Bears and Haunted Mansion. Both didn’t reach an audience. So here we come and we’re getting hammered by the press because “How dumb are they? They make two failures and they go for a third one!” Yet it was enormous.”

A local Disney Union in Orlando will continue to push for pay raises for Cast Members. Local 737 is one of the unions that is currently negotiating wage increases with Disney. We’ve recently seen rallies and protests for these pay increases but now we have an update.
Unions are pushing Disney to raise the minimum wage to $18 an hour and increase the pay of those who make closer to that by $3 to keep up with inflation. Disney previously released a statement saying, “We have presented a strong and meaningful offer that far outpaces Florida minimum wage by at least $5 an hour and immediately takes starting wages for certain roles including bus drivers, housekeepers and culinary up to a minimum of $20 an hour while providing a path to $20 for all other full-time, non-tipped STCU roles during the contract term.”
Some cast members feel like those changes would not happen soon enough.
On December 23, Local 737 shared the following update on Facebook:
“Local 737 Year End Update As 2022 comes to a close, we continue to push for raises that help Orlando hospitality workers survive the devastating inflation we have experienced. Earlier this year, we released a report that calls for a minimum wage of $18: https://www.uniteherelocal737.org/report2022/. At both Disney and the Orange County Convention Center, we have signed contract extension agreements that include raises retroactive to the date the contracts expired (August at the Convention Center and October at Disney). In November, Sodexo workers at the Orange County Convention took the bold step of voting to authorize a strike. With the busy convention season starting in January, we are in a strong position to win! (Note: Just like at Disney, our contract with Sodexo prohibits strikes. On November 30, 2022, we terminated our contract with Sodexo at the Orange County Convention Center. Local 737 members there are now working without a contract which means they have the right to strike.) At Disney, all 6 Unions return to the bargaining table on January 9 and 10 at the Wyndham at 3011 Maingate Lane, Kissimmee. Members are welcome to attend. In early December, we asked Disney to present us with their best offer when we meet next in January. As soon as we have a new contract offer from Disney, we will share it with the members. The cost of living and our struggles with our employers has made 2022 a difficult year. But when we stick together, we can win! Have a safe and happy holiday with your family!”
We will keep an eye out for any updates that are released when the unions meet with Disney next month! What do you think about the requests the unions are making for cast members?
