This past August 5, Dole Food Company hosted its largest virtual cooking event celebrating the Disney Princesses!
We were lucky enough to be invited to this event that celebrated courage and kindness just like our favorite heroines. The cooking event is part of an ongoing health and nutrition education program that aims to help parents encourage their kids and families to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and what better way to do it than with the help of Disney beloved characters.
This month’s Zoom webinar class was part of “A Recipe for Courage and Kindness”, a collaboration between Dole and Disney’s Ultimate Princess Celebration that continues through September 30. The event was hosted by Dole Nutrition and Health Communications Manager Melanie Marcus, who guided us through the preparation of three recipes inspired by Ariel, Cinderella and Moana!
We learned to create a Princess Banquet that included the following recipes:
- Princess Pearl Punch – A blend of selected Dole fruits, white grape juice and pearl tapioca balls honoring Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
- Glass Slipper Veggie Tea Sandwiches – A vegetarian version of traditional tea sandwiches themed to Cinderella.
- Te Fiti Fudgy Coco Cake Pops – A healthy Moana inspired dessert made with Dole bananas, dates, cocoa powder, dark chocolate chips and coconut flakes.
During the event, we also learned about the Dole Food Company and Disney collaboration since the 1970’s when Dole became the sponsor of Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland and their journey to the partnership that exist today. We also had fun taking a Disney Princess quiz and learned dining etiquette tips!
Dole also shared other assets available at dole.com/Disney like DIY recipe videos, a Dole banana sticker peel and play story book and other downloadable activities!
