Patrick Dempsey Confirms His Return for the ‘Enchanted‘ Sequel, ‘Disenchanted‘. Disney Fans were ecstatic to hear a sequel to Disney’s Enchanted was on the way, with director Adam Shankman at the helm and Brigette Hales penning the script. During the announcement the big question on everyone’s mind was “Will the cast return?”
Lead Actress Amy Adams went through a rather public dispute with Disney over the merchandise sold for Enchanted and was unsatisfied with her cut as all the Giselle merchandise would be made after her real life likeness and felt she deserved more for letting the entertainment company use her face on merchandise including dolls, apparel, and more. The dispute led to Disney cancelling production of merchandise for the movie and nearly destroyed any hope for a sequel, despite many at the time feeling like Robert and Giselle’s story was just beginning. Now in 2021, we know that Amy Adams has agreed to return as Giselle for the film and this week Patrick Dempsey has confirmed he will be returning to play Robert for the sequel, Disenchanted.
Dempsey shared the news on ABC’s Good Morning America and even shared a peek at the script. “I just got this script for the second movie, and then I’m starting to go through and get notes together.” Patrick also shared he is happy to be returning with Amy for Disenchanted telling GMA’s Lara Spencer, “Amy Adams is so amazing in that film,’ he said, adding that it ‘was a fun project to be part of.”
It is currently unknown when Disenchanted will premiere or if Idina Menzel and James Marsden will be returning as well. Disney has confirmed the film will premiere exclusively on Disney+. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Disney!
