Disney Cruise Line Charts Course for Major Global Expansion
Disney Cruise Line is sailing full speed ahead, and its next chapter is looking a whole lot more international. Disney CFO Hugh Johnston recently shared that the cruise line is essentially adding one new ship each year through 2031, growing the fleet to 13 ships as Disney looks to meet demand both in the United States and around the globe.

The recently launched Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure are part of that push, with the Disney Believe expected to follow in 2027. After that, Disney plans to add another Wish-class ship before introducing a new class of three smaller ships. One major piece of the strategy is sending ships beyond Disney’s traditional ports. The Disney Adventure is now sailing from Singapore, while a future Wish-class ship is planned for Japan. Johnston noted that demand for Disney Experiences outside the U.S. remains strong, and cruises give Disney a way to bring that magic directly to new audiences.
He also said the company is not seeing much cannibalization from the added capacity, with ships continuing to fill at strong levels. In other words, Disney Cruise Line is not just adding ships, it is widening the map. More ports, more markets, and more guests getting their first taste of Disney at sea. Looks like the fleet is making waves in a very big way.

Statler and Waldorf fans have reason to celebrate, as Disney’s latest preview video for the highly anticipated Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets confirms the return of the iconic duo. The legendary hecklers will be making their way over to the reimagined Disney’s Hollywood Studios attraction as advanced audio-animatronics, officially carrying over their beloved, sarcastic comedy from the nearby Muppet*Vision 3D theater straight into the coaster’s new storyline.
In the freshly released preview footage of the high-speed coaster, Disney offers a glimpse of the pre-launch sequence that awaits riders. As guests buckle into their stretch limo and prepare to launch toward the Electric Mayhem concert, they are hilariously jeered by the famous pair. Statler and Waldorf make their grand appearance parked right alongside the track inside a custom camper van, perfectly positioned to deliver their trademark insults just before the limo blasts off.
For many Disney guests, the Statler and Waldorf audio-animatronics will look instantly familiar. The curmudgeon duo was a cornerstone of the beloved Muppet*Vision 3D attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from its grand opening in 1991 until the theater’s closure in 2025.
In a brilliant nod to that park history, one of the punchlines previewed in Disney’s new video serves as a direct Easter egg for long-time fans. As the coaster vehicle prepares to launch, the pair quip:
“Do we have time to go to the bathroom before the next song?”
“We can’t, you old fool, we’re bolted to the seats!”
This gag beautifully mirrors the grand finale of Muppet*Vision 3D, where Waldorf famously asked if they had time to use the restroom before the next show, prompting Statler to break the fourth wall and joke about their permanent installation in the theater balcony.
Ever since their 1975 debut on The Muppet Show, Statler and Waldorf have been pop culture icons, universally celebrated for their relentlessly cynical commentary and relentless heckling. It was only natural that they became a central component of Disney-MGM Studios’ first-ever Muppet attraction in 1991. New Mandalorian and Grogu-Themed Foods, Sippers, and Galactic Treats Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
This is the way… to snack around Galaxy’s Edge. Disney has revealed a brand-new lineup of Mandalorian and Grogu-inspired food, drinks, and collectible novelties arriving soon at Walt Disney World, with Disney’s Hollywood Studios getting several limited-time offerings beginning May 22.
The new items celebrate the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu and bring a fresh wave of galactic flavors to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, along with some seriously collectible souvenirs for bounty hunters with empty stomachs and full wallets.
Over at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, guests will be able to try the new Sweet-and-Spicy Puffer Pig Pasta, featuring flat noodles tossed with pork belly, bok choy, sweet-and-spicy soy sauce, and a hard-boiled egg. Honestly, it sounds like something Din Djarin would quietly eat in the corner of a cantina while Grogu steals bites off the plate.
Also arriving at Docking Bay 7 is the new Grogu Cookies dessert, a white chocolate-dipped macaron cookie filled with pineapple cream. Tiny green space child energy included at no extra charge.
Kat Saka’s Kettle is also joining the celebration with the returning Grogu Cookies and colorful Outpost-style snacks nearby throughout the land.
Meanwhile, Oga’s Cantina is adding several specialty drinks to the menu starting May 22, including: 🍋 Oga’s Obsession, featuring lemonade, cotton candy flavoring, blueberry pearls, dried fruit, and gummy frogs 🍏 Rodian Ration, a bright green cocktail made with vodka, sour apple schnapps, Sprite, and fruit pearls 🌀 Spotchka, a blue jet-chilled gin cocktail inspired by the drink seen in The Mandalorian
Disney Springs is getting in on the fun too. The Ganachery will debut a new Beskar Ingot Pop made with dragon fruit ganache covered in dark chocolate. Because apparently even beskar is edible now.
Hollywood Studios will also receive several new collectible novelties in the coming weeks, including the new Mandalorian and Grogu Jetpack Sipper, which will be available at multiple locations around the park including Docking Bay 7, Backlot Express, ABC Commissary, Fairfax Fare, and carts near Fantasmic! and the park entrance.
Disney is also bringing the new BDX Droid Bucket to Hollywood Studios on select release dates inside Galaxy’s Edge and select popcorn carts around the park. Supplies are expected to be limited, and Disney has already confirmed purchase limits for the collectibles.
The galactic food rollout begins May 22 at Walt Disney World, giving Star Wars fans plenty of time to fuel up before summer crowds fully jump to hyperspace.
Disney Says Park Attendance and Ticket Prices Are Expected to Rise Alongside Major Expansions
Disney is making it clear that all those massive theme park expansions are not just about adding more rides. They are also expected to drive even bigger crowds and higher prices over the next several years.
Speaking during the MoffettNathanson Media, Internet & Communications Conference, Disney CFO Hugh Johnston discussed the company’s long-term strategy for attendance growth, park capacity, and pricing across both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
According to Johnston, Disney believes its ongoing expansion projects will allow the company to grow attendance without overcrowding existing parks to uncomfortable levels.
“There tends to be a lot of focus on attendance as a number,” Johnston explained. “But the reality of it is, when you have a big fixed asset like we do, we tend to actually use promotional activities to make sure that we’re filling the park every day.”
He went on to say Disney does not want to simply pack more people into already crowded parks because it negatively impacts the guest experience.
“Without expansion, we don’t necessarily have the ability to grow attendance massively, because it’s already filled up,” Johnston said. “Now, we could jam more people into the park, but then the guest experience declines, and that’s actually bad for the brand.”
Instead, Disney sees major expansions as the key to increasing both guest capacity and overall demand at the same time.
At Walt Disney World, projects already announced include the massive Disney Villains land coming to Magic Kingdom along with the new Cars-inspired Piston Peak area planned beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Over at Disneyland Resort, Disney California Adventure is preparing for a major Avengers Campus expansion that will nearly double the size of the Marvel-themed land.
Johnston pointed to Disneyland Paris and its ongoing expansion featuring World of Frozen as an example of how new additions can significantly boost demand.
And if guests were hoping all this new capacity might eventually lower prices… Disney does not seem to see it that way.
Johnston acknowledged that adding more capacity naturally raises questions about whether Disney would need to lower prices or offer more discounts to fill the parks. According to him, that has not historically been the case.
“When you put in a big, new attraction, you see a surge in demand for it,” Johnston said. “So we tend to fill those things up really, really quickly without having to discount.”
He added that major new attractions can actually create opportunities for Disney to charge even more because guests are paying for experiences that did not previously exist.
In other words, the future of Disney Parks appears to include both bigger lands and bigger price tags. The mouse is building more room in the kingdom… but it may still cost a royal fortune to visit.

The curtain is finally rising on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and Disney has released the first full video preview of the attraction’s brand-new pre-show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The footage gives fans their first real look at Scooter and The Electric Mayhem in action inside the reimagined queue experience ahead of the coaster’s official opening on May 26. And yes, things immediately spiral into pure Muppet chaos.
The scene begins with guests arriving for their VIP tour while Scooter attempts to wrangle The Electric Mayhem during what appears to be an extremely unproductive band rehearsal. Scooter reassures Kermit that the band will absolutely make it to their concert on time, despite having no actual transportation plan in place. Naturally, that is the exact moment Beaker suddenly bursts into the scene, because this is Muppet Labs and workplace safety is apparently just a suggestion.
Disney also confirmed the new Scooter Audio-Animatronic was developed using motion-capture technology based on the real Scooter Muppet performance. Imagineers tracked the character’s movements and expressions to create a figure that moves and emotes with remarkably lifelike accuracy. The result looks much closer to seeing an actual Muppet performing inside the attraction rather than a traditional animatronic figure.
Alongside the pre-show video, Disney shared another look at the attraction’s updated exterior, which continues leaning hard into Electric Mayhem concert energy. The iconic giant guitar outside the attraction has been fully repainted, while a new Muppets concert poster now hangs above the entrance. Guests walking through the exterior queue will also spot individual band posters for each member of The Electric Mayhem.
Even the upside-down limo outside the attraction has gotten a full Muppet makeover, complete with colorful paint splatters, musical notes, stars, and the now-famous “MUPP3TS” license plate.
Rock Around the Shop has also received refreshed theming, including a new Dr. Teeth-inspired sign that looks like it came straight out of a psychedelic backstage dressing room from 1978.

To celebrate 25 years of The Princess Diaries, D23 Members are invited to step into the royal life at the “D23 Genovian Pop-Up Experience.” This immersive event takes fans through a themed, photo-ready walkthrough of the historic Doheny Mansion—the legendary filming location used as the Genovian Consulate in the original film.
Step into the frame of your favorite movie moments as you explore the very halls where Mia Thermopolis became royalty. Guests can pose in the parlor where Mia first met Queen Clarisse, visit the dining room from that famously icy royal dinner, and waltz through the ballroom where Mia officially accepted her crown.
