Celebrating International Coffee Day with the Enchanting Animals of Walt Disney World

Happy International Coffee Day! Throughout the year at Walt Disney World Resort, the dedicated cast members have expressed their affection for coffee by bestowing coffee-inspired names upon some of the animals under Disney’s care. What could be a more delightful way to commemorate this than by savoring a freshly brewed cup of coffee while paying a visit to these coffee-named animals!

Here are four animals – and coffee recommendations – guests may see around Walt Disney
World:

Nitro and Cold Brew the Rosybill Pochards

Location: Discovery Island, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Coffee Pairing: Joffrey’s Shakin’ Jamaican Cold Brew at Royal Anandapur Tea Company

Meet Nitro and Cold Brew! With their bright pink beaks, it’s easy to see why they’re called
rosybills. Only male rosybill pochards like Cold Brew sport this coloring, though. Nitro and other
females are almost entirely brown. Rosybill pochards are a type of waterfowl, so you’ll likely
catch Nitro and Cold Brew floating in the water and using their webbed feet to paddle around.

Latte the American Quarter Horse

Location: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
Coffee Pairing: Fresh Brewed Coffee at Trail’s End Restaurant

This is Latte! One of the best ways to visit him is by booking a trail ride at Tri-Circle-D Ranch. He
just might be your tour guide through the trails. Like a good cup of coffee, American quarter
horses are strong and powerful, making them one of the fastest horse breeds. When he’s not
trotting down the trail, you can usually find Latte relaxing in the pastures at the front of the
resort.

Hazelnut the Aardvark

Location: Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Coffee Pairing: Hazelnut Latte at Creature Comforts

Last but not least is Hazelnut, the sweet aardvark cub born in April. Aardvarks are burrowing,
nocturnal animals native to Africa. And they are insectivores, so while Hazelnut won’t be
drinking any coffee, her long tongue and snout help her sniff out insects in the dirt. Believe it or
not, aardvarks can devour up to 50,000 insects in one night! Hazelnut currently resides
backstage, but she may soon make appearances on the outdoor stage near Affection Section.

Disney Cruise Line is offering a DVC member-exclusive voyage on the newest ship, Disney Treasure! The Disney Treasure will debut in late 2024 and Disney Vacation Club members have the chance to experience the new ship in early 2025.

Disney Vacation Club members can experience the Disney Treasure on a 7-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida, on January 4, 2025. Guests will visit the British and US Virgin Islands along with Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

Sunday, January 5, 2025 – At Sea
Monday, January 6, 2025 – At Sea

Welcome the new 2024-2025 Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Ambassadors

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) has officially introduced its new Disney Ambassadors for the 2024-2025 term, Beyan Tse and Gisele Abejero. Beyan and Gisele will become the 10th generation of Disney Ambassadors at HKDL. These two dynamic individuals are poised to embrace the role, championing community service, and embodying the essence of Walt Disney’s spirit of creativity and storytelling.

The new ambassadors will begin their term on January 1, 2024, as they embark on a journey that will culminate in HKDL’s 20th anniversary. In a heartwarming ceremony at Disney’s Storybook Theater, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, alongside Tse and Abejero’s families and friends, extended their warmest congratulations to the newly appointed Disney Ambassadors.

Michael Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, expressed his delight at their selection, stating, “The Ambassador Program holds a special place in the hearts of Disney parks worldwide. As we approach Disney’s centennial, it’s heartwarming to witness this tradition evolving. Beyan and Gisele represent the rich diversity in cultures, languages, personalities, and expertise among our cast members. I am confident they will complement each other beautifully and inspire hope and possibility within our cast members, community, and beyond.”

For Beyan Tse, a Disney enthusiast since her first visit to HKDL in 2005, the journey to becoming a Disney Ambassador is a dream come true. Her career at HKDL commenced in 2019 in financial management, alliances, and sourcing, and she quickly felt a strong sense of belonging within the team. Like Walt Disney himself, she displayed a determination to explore new horizons and push her boundaries. Her discovery of the dream maker within her was ignited through her extensive involvement as an active member of Disney VoluntEARS and the Disney VoluntEARS Leadership Council. This experience fueled her newfound appreciation for community service.

Tse stated, “Volunteering not only brings joy to the beneficiaries but also to every Disney VoluntEAR. I vividly remember the smile of a sick child when she met Queen Elsa for the first time at HKDL. Witnessing her happiness reinforced my dedication to caring for children and the elderly.” As a Disney Ambassador, Tse aims to pass on her love for the resort and the love she has received to her fellow cast members and the community.

Gisele Abejero, originally from the Philippines, discovered her passion for performing at HKDL over 15 years ago. She has taken on various roles, including participating in classic Hong Kong Disneyland musicals and even serving as a dance captain. However, her most significant role is that of a mother, especially to her youngest daughter, who has autism. Her experience as a mother to a child with autism opened her heart, fostering greater compassion, empathy, and understanding. She applied to become a Disney Ambassador to bring smiles to people’s faces.

“Children remind me to stay young at heart,” she shared. “I am thrilled to share stories with them alongside my Disney family, bringing hope and inspiration. My greatest wish is for all children to grow up in a magical place like Disney, full of creativity and imagination.” Both Tse and Abejero’s unique journeys reflect the transformative power of imagination, embodying Walt Disney’s vision.

As representatives of the resort and their fellow cast members, Disney Ambassadors engage in a wide array of community service activities, such as Disney VoluntEARS, bringing HKDL’s unique magic to communities in need and spreading the positive energy of Disney. They also play a vital role in welcoming guests from all corners of the globe, organizing and participating in various events, and uniting cast members with the shared purpose of capturing the enchantment of Disney in Hong Kong.

Disney World Adds Bonus Park Reservations for Annual Passholders in October

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders are getting some bonus park reservations for October! These new bonus park pass reservations are available for three of the four Disney World theme parks.

The bonus park pass reservations are available for the following parks and dates:

October 1 – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
October 2 – Magic Kingdom
October 3 – Disney’s Animal Kingdom
October 4 – Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Each annual pass tier has a specific allotment of park pass reservations guests can hold at one time. These bonus reservations don’t count towards that allotted amount.

While Epcot is not included in the bonus reservations, passholders heading to that park can take advantage of the new Oswald treats available through October 23 at Sunshine Seasons. The two treats are:

Oswald Triple Chocolate Cake-a delectable Chocolate cake topped with chocolate ganache, chocolate mousse, crisp pearls and a white cookie dome
Oswald Cookies ‘n Cream Shake-classic cookies ‘n cream milkshake that comes with an Oswald chocolate coin on top

Disneyland Magic Key Holders Able to Purchase Holiday Items Ahead of General Public

It may be fall, but Disneyland Magic Key Holders can purchase holiday merchandise now! There are a limited number of select pre-sale holiday items available for Magic Key Holders now through October 1, 2023.

Now through October 1, 2023, Magic Key Holders are able to be among the first to purchase select pre-sale holiday items! They can purchase the items through the mobile order service in the Disneyland app and can pick up the items same day.

While supplies last. Subject to restrictions and change or cancellation without notice. Must have a valid Magic Key pass linked to Disney account to view and purchase select items.

Disney didn’t announce what the holiday items are but looking at the images it looks like there is a holiday throw featuring Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Chip n’ Dale. There’s also a cute Mickey head pillow, an adorable Spirit Jersey, and must-have wreath Minnie ears.

This fun set for kids 3 and up will allow them to pop play popcorn and serve favorite wooden versions of Disney treats and drinks from the wooden snack counter with awning, magnetic menu, reach-in “freezer,” popcorn popper, and butter pump. It features Goofy and Max on road or river trip having fun! The rest of the back features a beautiful combination of orange and blue colors with gold hardware plus Goofy and Max vacation scrapbook print lining, so cute!
