This is the actual Genie’s Lamp from the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City.

Genie’s Magic Lamp Transported from Broadway to EPCOT

Weighing in at 1,200 pounds, this colossal prop usually sits atop the marquee of the New Amsterdam Theatre, the home of Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway. It was originally built to celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary in 2024 and has now made the 1,000-mile journey south to be a centerpiece for this year’s festival.

The lamp is an exact replica of the hand-held prop used on stage, scaled up to massive proportions. It features intricate pattern carvings designed by Tony Award-winning scenic designer Bob Crowley and was constructed by NPARALLEL and Atomic Props.

Connecting the Parks to the Stage

The installation ties directly into the festival’s focus on the performing arts. It sits just steps away from the “Once Upon A Stage: The Magic of Disney on Broadway” exhibit inside CommuniCore Hall, which displays costumes and props from shows like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.

While the lamp is known to spin and release smoke when installed in New York, it is serving as a stunning photo op during its stay in Florida.

2026 EPCOT Festival of the Arts Officially Starts TODAY!

The 2026 EPCOT Festival of the Arts has officially begun, and the most important tool for your day is the Festival Passport. This complimentary pocket-sized booklet is available at the park entrance, Guest Relations, and merchandise locations. It serves as your roadmap to all the culinary, visual, and performing arts festivities happening from now through February 23.

A New Look at the Entrance

Before you even grab your passport, you will notice the festival atmosphere right as you arrive. We have our first look at the main entrance display, which features an updated design for 2026. Figment takes center stage with a slightly new look, sporting lighter purple and pink tones that give him a softer, more artistic appearance compared to previous years.

Over at the entrance to the World Showcase, the classic rainbow display returns. It features Figment centered on top of a vibrant rainbow, flanked by large orange and yellow paint tubes that set the tone for the colorful experience ahead.

Inside the Passport

The booklet contains full menus for all Food Studios, including the new locations and returning favorites. You will also find a schedule for the Disney on Broadway Concert Series, a guide to the art galleries, and details on the various “Step-in Frames” photo ops scattered around the World Showcase.

For those with dietary restrictions, the passport includes a QR code that links directly to a list of plant-based and allergy-friendly menu items.

The Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine

One of the most popular features in the passport is the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine. This food stroll challenges you to purchase five specific vibrant dishes from the festival menus. As you buy each item, you will receive a stamp in the back of your passport.

Once you have collected five stamps, you can bring your passport to the Deco Delights Food Studio near Port of Entry to redeem a complimentary specialty treat.

This year, the qualifying menu items include the Deconstructed Key Lime Pie at The Deconstructed Dish, the Chorizo and Potato Empanada at Vibrante & Vívido, and the Liquid Nitrogen Minnie Cake Pop at Swirled Showcase, among others. You do not need to complete the stroll in one visit; you can collect stamps anytime before the festival ends.

The passport also highlights family-friendly activities. This includes the new Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game experiences, where guests can partake in a Collection Quest or the Ink & Find Scavenger Hunt.

A New Era of Leadership The studio is splitting the top job between creative and business operations, a move that many industry insiders see as a strategy to balance storytelling with studio management.

Dave Filoni has been named President and Chief Creative Officer. Filoni, who previously served as Executive Vice President and CCO, is a fan-favorite figure known for his work alongside George Lucas on The Clone Wars and for launching the “Mando-verse” with Jon Favreau. In his new role, he will oversee all creative aspects of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

Lynwen Brennan has been appointed Co-President. Formerly the General Manager of Lucasfilm Business, Brennan has been with the company since 1999, rising through the ranks at Industrial Light & Magic before moving to the studio side. She will now lead the company’s business operations and strategy. Both executives will report to Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman.

Kennedy’s Next Steps While Kennedy is leaving the presidency, she is not leaving the galaxy entirely just yet. She will remain on board as a producer for Lucasfilm’s next two major theatrical releases.

She will oversee the rollout of The Mandalorian and Grogu, which hits theaters on May 22, 2026, as well as the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy, which is scheduled for release on May 28, 2027. Following those projects, Kennedy plans to pursue other producing opportunities independently.

A Planned Transition According to the official announcement, this leadership change has been in the works for approximately two years to ensure a smooth handover. Kennedy, who was handpicked by George Lucas to lead the company in 2012, expressed pride in her tenure, noting the privilege of working with the talent at Lucasfilm for more than a decade.

This marks the end of a significant era for the studio, which saw the release of the sequel trilogy, the first standalone Star Wars films, and the expansion of the universe onto Disney+. Now, all eyes turn to Filoni and Brennan as they steer the franchise into its next chapter.

The Summer That Never Was: A New “Phineas and Ferb” Movie Greenlit at Disney+

Behold! The Tri-State Area is about to get a whole lot more chaotic. Disney Branded Television has officially greenlit a new Phineas and Ferb time-warp adventure movie, marking the third feature-film installment for the global phenomenon.

Series co-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh are returning to executive produce the project, which is set to begin production later this year. The movie will be available to stream on Disney+ and will also air on Disney Channel, following the massive success of the show’s recent fifth-season revival.

A Timeline in Trouble

The upcoming film centers on a catastrophic mishap involving Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. In his latest attempt at temporal manipulation, an experiment backfires and accidentally erases the pivotal moment Phineas’ mom, Linda, met Ferb’s dad, Lawrence.

The consequences are dire: without that meeting, the boys never become brothers. Instead of grand inventions and “the best summer ever,” every day is now merely “adequate.” As reality begins to unravel and the future hangs in the balance, Phineas and Ferb must find a way to restore the timeline and save their family before it’s too late.

“We’ve always wanted to explore a story centered on family and unconditional love, preferably in a way that’s bold and sentimental yet classically funny,” said Povenmire and Marsh. “We’re grateful for the runway to expand Danville and take these characters to a whole new level.”
