ESPN Wide World of Sports is getting ready for its next big sports spectacle, and this time it comes with trick plays, dancing players, and plenty of banana-colored chaos.

Disney is shining a spotlight on the long history of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex as Banana Ball prepares to make its Walt Disney World debut in 2026. The upcoming series featuring the Party Animals and the Loco Beach Coconuts marks the latest evolution for the sports complex that has spent nearly three decades hosting everything from MLB spring training and youth championships to NBA Finals games and NFL Pro Bowl events.

Originally opening in March 1997 as Disney’s Wide World of Sports, the sprawling 260-acre complex quickly became a major destination for amateur and professional athletics alike. Baseball helped launch the venue into the spotlight, with more than 10,000 fans attending the opening exhibition game between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds.

The complex later became the longtime spring training home of the Atlanta Braves from 1998 through 2019, bringing baseball legends like Chipper Jones, Greg Maddux, Freddie Freeman, Jason Heyward, Derek Jeter, and Albert Pujols through Disney World over the years.

Today, the complex includes a massive collection of venues including AdventHealth Arena, State Farm Field House, multiple baseball diamonds, track and field facilities, soccer fields, and competition spaces for cheer, dance, basketball, volleyball, football, and more. Disney says nearly 300,000 athletes and 800,000 spectators visit the complex annually for over 50 different sporting events.

Of course, sports history at Disney World goes far beyond baseball. ESPN Wide World of Sports famously hosted the NBA Bubble during the league’s 2020 return-to-play season, including the NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat. The venue has also welcomed the Invictus Games, Orlando City Soccer, Team USA training camps, AAU championships, Pro Bowl festivities, and countless youth sporting events.

Now Banana Ball is preparing to add its own wildly entertaining chapter to the story.

Known for its fast-paced, fan-focused version of baseball, Banana Ball mixes athletic competition with dance routines, player antics, crowd interaction, and rules designed to keep games moving quickly. The upcoming games at Disney World will feature the Party Animals taking on the Loco Beach Coconuts inside The Stadium at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Universal Kids Resort is getting ready to welcome its smallest adventurers, and tickets are now officially on sale for the brand-new family-focused theme park in Frisco, Texas. The new Universal destination is scheduled to open on July 1, giving families a pint-sized park packed with big character energy.

Universal Kids Resort Officially Opens on July

Ticket options are currently available in four categories. A 1-day general admission ticket is priced at $54.99, while a 2-day general admission ticket is available for $73.99. Families looking to visit more often can also grab a Silver Annual Pass for $129.99, or a Silver Annual Pass with parking included for $164.99. Blockout dates and restrictions apply for annual pass options. Kids ages two and under are free and do not need a ticket.

Universal is also offering vacation packages tied to the Universal Kids Resort hotel. The package includes two nights at the hotel, 1 1/2 days of general admission, and early park admission one hour before the park opens. The 1 1/2 day ticket option lets guests enter the park starting at 2 p.m. on their first selected date, giving families a little extra time to splash into the fun before their full park day.

Bello Bay Club Coming to Universal Kids Resort

Universal Kids Resort is designed specifically for families with young children, with lands themed around some of Universal’s most kid-friendly franchises. Disney Eats shared a first look at the upcoming novelty item, which is scheduled to debut on June 1. The bright green sculpted container features Louis standing upright with his signature trumpet raised to his mouth. The detailed mold perfectly recreates his rounded belly, large cheeks, webbed feet, and expressive eyes.

Designed for a day in the parks, the back of the sipper includes a built-in straw tucked neatly along his spine. It also comes equipped with a carrying strap that showcases Louis alongside a swarm of fireflies in a colorful, nighttime bayou scene. In the teaser video, the lovable alligator is spotted all over Disneyland Park, including a few stops right outside Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

This summer, mosey on over to Magic Kingdom’s Diamond Horseshoe for a Toy Story-inspired hoedown the whole family will love. Jessie, Woody, Bullseye, and the rest of the gang are hosting a rip-roarin’ roundup packed to the brim with singing, dancing, interactive games, and playful surprises.

This marks a massive milestone for the historic venue, which hasn’t hosted a regular show in over two decades. The stage was last occupied by Goofy’s Country Dancin’ Jamboree, which ran from 2003 to 2005 following the closure of the legendary Diamond Horseshoe Revue on February 1, 2003. As an opening-day attraction for the Magic Kingdom, the Diamond Horseshoe has a rich history, making this high-energy comeback even more special.

Stepping inside the Diamond Horseshoe feels like stepping right into Woody’s Roundup—the fictional television show from Toy Story 2 that first introduced us to Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye. However, there’s a new sheriff in town! Since Woody handed over his badge at the end of Toy Story 4, the ranch now officially belongs to Jessie.

The venue is packed with incredible details for Pixar fans. Just off-stage, a themed marquee introduces the event’s star performers: The Roundup Ropers and Dusty Strings. Encircling the stage are colorful cutouts of the classic TV show’s woodland critters. If they look familiar, it’s because Disney Parks fans will recognize them as the virtual prize icons from the Toy Story Mania! attraction!

Jessie’s Roundup keeps the energy high by alternating between two distinct, 15-minute performances. The first is a high-octane spectacle starring Woody and Jessie. Right at the start, Jessie welcomes the crowd by saying, “We may all be strangers now, but when we’re done we’ll be friends, each and every one!” This heartwarming line is actually a brilliant easter egg for Disney history buffs—it nods to the opening lyrics of “Hello Everybody” from the classic Golden Horseshoe and Diamond Horseshoe Saloon Revue shows of the past.

This portion of the show features cast members and characters dancing to iconic Toy Story tracks, complete with plenty of crowd interaction. Woody and Jessie even step off the stage to mingle directly with the audience! A few minutes in, The Roundup Ropers take over with a jaw-dropping jump rope routine, eventually inviting kids (and kids at heart) onto the floor to join in. Woody and Jessie then return to teach everyone the “Horseshoe Stomp” before closing things out with a massive, heartwarming sing-along to “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”

The second show offers a slightly different, music-forward vibe. It features the talented Dusty Strings, who treats guests to live singing and acoustic guitar playing. After teaching the crowd a brand-new dance, he is joined on stage by everyone’s favorite horse, Bullseye, for a fun-filled finale.

Disney Unveils First Major Room Makeover for Art of Animation Resort

If you love staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, you’re in for a treat. Walt Disney World is launching a massive room reimagining project at the popular resort starting next summer.

Big changes are coming to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! Starting in summer 2027, the property will undergo an extensive refurbishment of its family suites and standard guest rooms. The best news? The resort will remain fully open and available to guests throughout the renovation process.

This marks the most significant overhaul for the resort since its grand opening in 2012. A major focus of the makeover will be The Little Mermaid standard rooms. While keeping their vibrant animation charm, these rooms will be upgraded with space-saving pull-down Murphy beds, allowing guests to easily switch between a second bed and a dining table.

While Art of Animation has seen smaller updates over the years—including a lobby floor replacement and a transition from carpet to laminate flooring between 2019 and 2021—this project represents its first-ever top-to-bottom reimagining.

First up on June 17 is a double-episode special called “Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition.” We’ve all seen Homer make some questionable parenting choices, but leaving the kids home alone with literally just a doorbell camera as a babysitter? Yeah, Marge isn’t having it. After their couples’ date night predictably goes off the rails, a slightly tipsy Marge starts fantasizing about what life would be like with a totally different husband, launching us into a trilogy of alternate-reality Homers. To make things even cooler, the episode features guest star Betty Gilpin, alongside musical appearances by Laufey and indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara.

If you like your comedy dipped in a little bit of mystery, mark your calendar for July 3 because we’re getting “Simpsley.” This one is a full-blown Simpsons noir set in Italy. Picture this: a penniless, con-artist Marge Bouvier gets sent to Europe to convince a wealthy Seymour Skinner to return home. Naturally, she gets seduced by his lavish lifestyle, but there’s a catch Skinner’s incredibly annoying, dim-witted houseguest is none other than Homer Simpsley. Expect plenty of lies, lust, and vintage Italian lira in what sounds like a hilarious parody of The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Rounding out the summer on August 26 is “Yellow Mirror,” and yes, it sounds exactly like the creepy, tech-dystopian Black Mirror parody we didn’t know we needed. This episode delivers two dark, bizarre tales. The first involves a defective lamp that shatters Homer’s perception of reality, while the second follows Maggie as she gets befriended and controlled by an AI-powered tablet. It’s a little spooky, a little sci-fi, and totally perfect for a late-August binge.

These new drops are joining an already stacked lineup of Disney+ exclusives like “Yellow Planet” and “O C’Mon All Ye Faithful.” Honestly, between all 36 seasons of the mainline show, The Simpsons Movie, and more than a dozen animated shorts, Disney+ and Hulu have officially cemented themselves as the ultimate champions of adult animation.
