Gold Medal Gymnast’s Kids Have Eyes on Disneyland, Not Olympics

While the world’s attention is focused on the thrilling competitions at the 2024 Olympics, one gold medalist’s family has their sights set on a different kind of magic. Shawn Johnson East, the iconic gymnast who captured hearts at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is back in Paris to cheer on her fellow athletes. However, her three young children seem more interested in meeting Mickey Mouse than witnessing Olympic greatness.

“I don’t think they’re going to appreciate or understand any of it,” Johnson East confessed to E! News. “They’re most excited for Disneyland Paris.” While the 32-year-old is undoubtedly proud of her country and its athletes, she’s also embracing the reality of parenting young children.

Despite the kids’ lack of Olympic enthusiasm, Johnson East is determined to make the most of their Parisian adventure. She’s hoping her children will at least enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and perhaps develop a fondness for certain sports. “Drew does enjoy watching gymnastics strictly for the leotards,” she shared with a laugh.

With three energetic young ones, navigating the bustling Olympic crowds is a challenge Johnson East is facing with a mix of excitement and trepidation. “The only thing that I’m nervous about with Paris is it’s just a lot of people at the Olympics,” she explained. “There’s a lot of chances to not see a little kid, which freaks me out.”

But despite the potential hurdles, Johnson East and her husband, Andrew East, are thrilled to be back in the Olympic spirit. After missing the 2020 Games due to the birth of their son Jett, they’re eager to soak up the experience with their entire family.

As they embark on a five-week European adventure, the East family is ready for anything. From trains and planes to boats and automobiles, they’re determined to create unforgettable memories, whether it’s cheering on Olympic athletes or exploring the magical world of Disneyland Paris!

According to the official Walt Disney World website, both prix fixe menus, “Omakase” multi-course meals, are now priced at $250 per adult, plus tax and gratuity. This marks a significant increase for the plant-based option, which was previously priced at $150. The children’s menu, designed for ages 8-12, remains at $100 plus tax and gratuity.

The updated “Kiku” menu introduces a more traditional dining experience with refined courses:

Ichijyu-Sansai: Features Sea Urchin Chirashi Sushi, deep-fried tofu, and tuna with ponzu jelly.

Reservations

Takumi-Tei accepts reservations from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, Thursdays through Mondays. Note that a $100 per-person cancellation fee applies for no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours of the reservation. Takumi-Tei is not part of the Disney Dining Plan, but a 10% Walt Disney World Annual Passholder discount is available.

New Hot Dogs Coming to GCH Craftsman Grill this Fall

Hot dog lovers, rejoice! GCH Craftsman Grill is serving up new, mouthwatering Hot Dogs of the Month. Take a look at the hot dogs for August, September, and October.

Big Wave Dog for August: Hawaiian Sweet roll, chicken apple sausage, pineapple mango salsa spicy aioli, and unagi sauce served with Maui onion chips.

Chicken Parm Dog for September: Garlic ciabatta bun, Italian sausage, chicken Milanese, marinara, three cheese blend, fennel, and onion escabeche served with fries.

Cali Boo!-rito Dog for October: Toasted bolillo-style bun, all beef hotdog, French fries, carne asada, shredded cheese, guacamole, and chipotle aioli served with tortilla chips and salsa.
