All Disney Websites are Down – The sky is falling
The Disney sites—ESPN, Disney.com, Disneyworld, Disneyland and ABC News—are down across the board.
It’s unclear what’s going on, but there are multiple network failures. I have tried multiple pings, trace routes and monitoring services and they are all coming back negative.

Brain-Eating Zombies Invade Disney’s Haunted Mansion
Yeah you read that topic correctly. Disney the home of princesses, fairy tales, and happily ever afters has been invaded by Zombies.. Did that get you scared? Didn’t think so..Well here is an article that talks about Bob Iger’s strategy of how Disney is reinventing themselves, including the new Dan Vado comic book about the Haunted Mansion:
When Walt Disney Co. asked publisher Dan Vado to make a series of comic books based on its Haunted Mansion theme-park ride, he worried that the empire built on the likes of Snow White and Tinker Bell would reject his brand of creepy humor. Vado gave Disney skeletons dangling from nooses, scattered corpses and a ghostly poodle that says “crap.” To his surprise, Disney signed off on his vision.“Everything we did was really strange,” says Vado, founder of San Jose, California-based SLG Publishing, as in Slave Labor Graphics. “The interesting thing about Disney is, for a company perceived as being stodgy, they do a good job of reinventing themselves.”
Disney Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger, 59, is on a spending spree at the world’s biggest media company to transform his film studio, amusement parks and stores. In fiscal 2009, net income at Disney fell 25 percent to $3.3 billion — the worst annual performance in Iger’s five-year reign — and was almost flat in the first quarter of 2010 compared with a year earlier.
The global recession has hammered the company’s 11 theme parks, which are offering promotions and discounts. The Burbank, California-based company’s studio is also struggling: In 2009, it churned out box office flops such as “G-Force,” which featured wisecracking guinea pigs.
Iger is pouring billions into attracting a new generation of kids — boys especially — raised on violent video games and reality shows.

ABC News prepares major restructuring, 300 jobs could be cut
Article from the LA Times talking about ABC News layoffs. Guess it goes to show you that nobody is safe in this economy. Our thoughts go out to those people losing their jobs.
ABC News is poised to make a major round of cuts that will reduce the size of the news division by as much as 20% and radically reorder the network’s traditional approach to news gathering.
Forced to belt-tighten by the weak advertising market, network executives have opted to restructure the labor-heavy newsroom from top to bottom in favor of a leaner, more nimble operation, according to multiple sources. Many of those remaining in the pared-down news division will be expected to both produce and shoot their own stories, acting as “one-man bands,” a model increasingly being adopted in television news.
The process is expected to begin Wednesday morning when employees receive a letter asking for volunteers to take buyouts and leave the company. Newsroom employees have heard that the network is seeking to shrink the newsroom by as many as 300 positions, approximately 20% of the 1,400-person staff. If not enough employees volunteer to leave, layoffs will likely follow.

Disney wins lawsuit battle over cyber squatters
I have dealt with Cyber Squatters in the past and it is not a fun situation. I am glad Disney won this case cause I know I have misspelled Disney countless times only to be taken someplace else.
Disney Enterprises,the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world has recently won another domain name case,covering two domain names : diseny.com and dsiney.com .
The company,represented by J. Andrew Coombs,submitted a complaint to the National Arbitration Forum,requesting the domain names diseny.com and dsiney.com to be transferred from the respondent to the complainant.
The company owns many trademark registrations with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for “Disney” mark.
Therefore,they contended in the complaint that the domain names are confusingly similar to its trademark.
Moreover,they contended that the respondent , JalapenoWare LLC, registered and used the domain names in bad faith.”…by registering the disputed domain names with actual knowledge of Complainant’s trademarks, Respondent acted in bad faith by breaching its registration agreement with the registrar because it falsely represented that the registration does not conflict with the “legal rights of a third party or a third party’s trademark or trade name.”

Harlem Globetrotters Join Forces with ESPN & Disney Sports
Three of the biggest names in sports and entertainment will come together this week when the Harlem Globetrotters join forces with ESPN and Disney Sports as part of the official re-launch of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla.

As part of the gala “re-opening” night festivities, the Globetrotters will take on the Washington Generals at the complex, with an all-star Globetrotter roster, including Special K Daley, Scooter Christensen, Big Easy Lofton and Flight Time Lang being joined by a bevy of sports celebrities, ESPN personalities and Disney characters. The game will be taped before a live audience on Thursday and televised nationally on Friday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
The special performance will include ESPN Radio’s Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic from Mike & Mike in the Morning, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary on the air, serving as honorary coaches. In addition, ESPN’s Emerging Technology Group will use the game as a first test run for the network’s much-anticipated ESPN 3D network, scheduled to launch later this year in conjunction with the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
In addition to the opening night event, the Globetrotters will also once again take part in several events throughout the popular annual “ESPN The Weekend” (Feb. 25-28) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park and the newly re-imagined sports complex.

Bristol Palin to ‘play’ teen mom on Secret Life of the American Teenager
Palin will be playing herself, as one of Amy’s (Shailene Woodley) friends at a music program for teen mothers.

Live at Disneyland: Fans in line for ‘Captain EO’

The line for the Michael Jackson film, “Captain EO,” swelled to about 70 people as the sun came up on the movie’s first day back at Disneyland.
About 35 were already in line by 6 a.m. Tuesday, about four hours before the first showing of the return of the 3-D movie at the Tomorrowland theater, where it played from 1986 to 1997. Although the park opens at 9:30 a.m., Disney officials are allowing Jackson fans to line up early on the west side of Disneyland’s main entrance. Disney formed a second line before 7 a.m.
