Tron Legacy Long Time Featurette

Tron Legacy Long Time Featurette

New Featurette from Tron Legacy named “Long time”. We are a little more than a month away from it’s December 17th release!

TRON: LEGACY is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Oscar®- and Golden Globe®-winner Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world’s leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn’s Arcade—a signal that could only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years.

With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe—a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape. Presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and scored by Grammy Award®-winning electronic music duo Daft Punk, TRON: LEGACY hits U.S. theaters on Dec. 17, 2010 in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D.

Tron Uprising To Premiere In Summer 2012 On Disney XD

Tron Uprising To Premiere In Summer 2012 On Disney XD

Disney XD has put “TRON: Uprising” on the grid —a compelling story and visually stunning television series scheduled to premiere in summer 2012 on Disney XD. The story focuses on an era of the “TRON” storyline that transpires after the popular 1982 feature film and before the story in Walt Disney Studios‘ upcoming “TRON: Legacy.” Its impressive list of artists, animators, directors, producers and digital technicians includes executive producer/director Charlie Bean (“Robotboy,” “Samurai Jack,” and “Powerpuff Girls”); and consulting producers Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz (both screenwriters of “TRON: Legacy” / executive producers of “Lost”) and Justin Springer (co-producer of “TRON: Legacy”). The series will be preceded by a 10-part “TRON” micro-series launching in Fall 2011 on Disney XD.

The noteworthy voice cast of “TRON: Uprising” includes Elijah Wood as Beck, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Paige, Mandy Moore as Mara, Nate Corddry as Zed, Lance Henriksen as Tesler, Paul Reubens as Pavel, Reginald VelJohnson as Able and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as Tron.

In making the announcement, Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide said: “‘Tron: Uprising’ is the culmination of an extraordinary collaboration between Disney Television Animation and our feature film studio. And it is a perfect reflection of everything we want Disney XD to stand for – innovative storytelling, aspirational, heroic characters, and world class design.”

Parents & Preschoolers will love the All-New Mickey Mote

Parents & Preschoolers will love the All-New Mickey Mote

This coming holiday, parents and their preschoolers will discover a whole new way to watch and play their favorite Disney preschool DVDs, with the all-new “Mickey Mote”. This one-of-a-kind, kid’s remote control, from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, will debut this November 16th packed with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Number Roundup and Handy Manny: Big Construction Job.

The new “Mickey Mote” is a child-friendly handheld remote control, shaped like Mickey ears, that will take children’s viewing experience to a whole new level by providing an engaging interaction with their favorite Disney characters. With multiple levels of play, the new Mickey Mote will provide hours of fun, engaging and challenging adventures for kids age 2-5. The Mickey Mote is a value for moms and fun for kids!

How It Works:

The Mickey Mote works with any Disney Preschool DVD that includes Discovery Mode™, the interactive “Watch & Play” feature on the DVD! All parents have to do is program the remote control – there’s an easy and quick set-up guide in each DVD- and select the Discovery Mode feature on the menu screen. Within minutes, kids will be easily responding to questions, throughout the story, about scenes they just watched (such as “What color is Goofy’s hat?”) by pressing one of four color-coded buttons on the device — a yellow star, green circle, orange triangle or blue square – to click in their responses. Discovery Mode features include two levels of play, which provides more challenging questions as the child grows.

Why Parents Will Love It:
Once families have purchased a Disney Preschool DVD that comes packaged with the Mickey Mote, they can continue to build their Disney Preschool libraries as the Mickey Mote works in compatibility with any Discovery Mode enhanced DVD. For example, kids can immediately use the remote with any of the following titles:

* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally
* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Adventures in Wonderland
* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Choo Choo
* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Bow-Tique
* Handy Manny: Manny’s Motorcycle Adventure
* Handy Manny: Manny’s Big Race
* Little Einsteins: Fire Truck Blast Off
* My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Super Duper Super Sleuths
* My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Bedtime With Pooh

Note: Discovery Mode can also be played using any DVD remote control.
Look for more Discovery Mode DVDs on future Disney Preschool franchise releases such as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny!

Available beginning on November 16, 2010, consumers can purchase either Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Number Roundup and/or Handy Manny: Big Construction Job DVDs – which will each come specially packaged with the new Mickey Mote – for the suggested retail price of $29.99 (US)/$35.99 Canada.

PGA Stars Abound at 40th Children’s Miracle Network Classic at Disneyworld

PGA Stars Abound at 40th Children’s Miracle Network Classic at Disneyworld

Vijay Singh, who captured the 2003 Disney Classic, and United States Ryder Cup team participants Stewart Cink, Rickie Fowler and Jeff Overton, and assistant captains Tom Lehman and Davis Love III lead the field at the 40th annual Children’s Miracle Network Classic at Walt Disney World Resort, Nov. 11-14.

Cink, Fowler, Lehman, Love, Overton and Singh are among the 128 players vying for $4.7 million in prize money at Disney’s Magnolia and Palm golf courses. Fowler, Aaron Baddeley and Troy Merritt stand to win even more because they are also battling to win the $1 million Kodak Challenge. Several other players are fighting to finish the year among the tour’s Top 125 money list.

Overall, this year’s field includes five former Classic champions (Joe Durant, John Huston, Love, Ryan Palmer and Singh), 11 past major winners, (Rich Beem, Mark Calcavecchia, Cink, Ben Curtis, Todd Hamilton, Lee Janzen, Lehman, Justin Leonard, Love, Shaun Micheel and Singh) and five players who have earned more than $2 million on tour this year (Holmes, Overton, Palmer, Heath Slocum and Brendon de Jonge).

Merritt currently leads the Kodak Challenge by one stroke over Fowler and Baddeley. Merritt had carded nine Kodak Challenge birdies before posting an eagle on the final day of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open to take the outright lead for the first time this season. Currently eight PGA TOUR pros are within three strokes of the lead.

Huston, a seven-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including two Disney Classic wins in 1992 and 1998, leads an accomplished list of sponsor exemptions, which also includes 2003 PGA Championship winner Micheel and five-time tour winner Billy Mayfair. Chris DiMarco was previously announced as sponsor exemption, but gained entrance into the tournament by way of his ranking this season. Mike Perez is the fourth sponsor exemption. The complete field can be found at pgatour.com: CLICK HERE.

Tour veteran D.A. Points of suburban Orlando is in the field again, partly because his 9-year-old nephew, Carson Chorney, was treated for neuroblastoma – a rare form of cancer – at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Shands Children’s Hospital, two of Children’s Miracle Network’s 170 hospitals nationwide.

The two-day pro-am field, which will compete the Thursday and Friday of tournament week, is also set, headlined by Julius “Dr. J” Erving, recent World Series champion Aaron Rowand of the San Francisco Giants, White Sox star A.J. Pierzynski, and Tampa Bay Rays players Carlos Pena and James Shields. Two children who have been treated at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals will also compete in the pro-am, A.J. Selig, 16, and Raymond Parra, 12.

The winner of this year’s Classic will join an impressive group of former champions. That list includes 14 players who also have won “majors, such as Tiger Woods, Singh, Jack Nicklaus, Payne Stewart and Raymond Floyd.

Tournament rounds on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 will begin at 6:45 a.m. on both the Magnolia and Palm courses. At the conclusion of the second round, the field will be cut to the low 70 scores for the weekend round on the Magnolia course. All four rounds will be televised live on The Golf Channel from 1-4 p.m. ET, but fans in attendance can also experience the Wine & Dine Walk – five specialty locations offering culinary pairings of tapas-sized appetizers, entrees, desserts and wines from the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

Tickets for individual rounds ($10), week-long badges ($20) and a new one-day Wine & Dine ticket ($45) are available at www.ChildrensMiracleNetworkClassic.com or through www.ticketmaster.com.  The new Wine & Dine ticket is good for five entrees, one at each location, and one beverage. All net proceeds from the tournament go to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, including the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies in Orlando, and Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville.

Disneyworld Trip Report: Halloween at Disney

Disneyworld Trip Report: Halloween at Disney

I headed out of Boston’s Logan Airport just before three in the afternoon on October 29th. Even my fear of being airborne could not combat my excitement. I was headed to Disney World to meet one of my best friends for an amazing weekend! What you are about to read catalogues the escapades we shared over Halloween weekend at Disney World.

I arrived in Orlando a little before six pm and collected my baggage (which was deemed to big to be a carry on) and my rental car. I got a super deal on a bright red Chevy Aveo through priceline.com and budget rent-a- car. This leads me to my first tip:

If you can, request a non traditional car color.

It really helped us out to have a screaming red vehicle in the parking lots filled with silver and white cars! In no time flat I was on my way to Disney’s Pop Century Resort, or was I? I got lost for a good 45 minutes. I am not sure how I accomplished this, but I am pretty sure my GPS was the culprit.

I finally reached Pop at 7:30pm. We were in the 90’s section of the building which was a great location for someone with a car. The lot was never too full, but it is quite a walk to Classic Hall where all the food and merchandise is located. However, we were just a stones throw from the computer pool. When I first arrived at Pop, I was, well, shocked to say the least. I must preface this with the fact that I am a deluxe girl. I have only ever stayed at deluxe resorts and was not expecting the neon parking garage style abode that welcomed me at pop. There was too much concrete, too many colors, and the room was small. I was ready to switch hotels! Fear not Disney budget planners, I did come around. After a few early morning strolls around the property, a few trips to everything pop for fantastic lasagna, a stroll through what is probably one of the best arcades on property and always having a clean room with all our needs met, I realized that this resort had plenty to offer. I was at Disney World for less than $300 per night and I could still enjoy myself thoroughly! Which leads me to my tip #2

Try a different resort or resort category on your next trip. They are all gems in their own right!

I met my friend Danielle in our room and we headed out to the Polynesian for a late dinner at ‘Ohana. We had an hour or so to kill and used that time to order a few strawberry daiquiris, lounge in some fabulous chairs, talk about life, and watch Happy Hallow-Wishes from the beach. They pipe the music in here so it is sometimes even better than watching from Main Street! We then headed up for our fabulous dinner. For those of you who have never been to ‘Ohana here is tip #3 Go to ‘Ohana! This place serves up some seriously delicious food and they do it family style. So you can eat as much as you want, but you never ever have to get up! I have dreams about the dumplings all year long.

We woke up bright and early Saturday morning as I knew the parks would be slammed. Here comes tip #4

I know you are on vacation, but by getting to the parks for rope drop on days that are going to be busy will not only allow you to see a great opening celebration, but you will do all your attractions with very little wait.

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom at 8:15 and waited about half an hour for the opening show to begin. I love this show and try to see it at least once during my stay. Once the park was open we made a bee line for the train and headed to Frontierland. Here we rode Splash Mountain and Big Thunder two times. We then got on Pirates with zero wait, the Haunted Mansion with zero wait, and then the icing on the cake, Space Mountain with a ten minute wait! By 11am when the crowds were starting to swarm the parks we were watching The Move it Shake it Celebrate it parade on our way out! Mission accomplished!

Hollywood Studios was next on our list. Danielle is a big movie fan and I knew she would love it here! We did the great movie ride and Muppet Vision and then headed to lunch at the 50s prime time café. This is a great place. The restaurant is highly themed to resemble a 1950s kitchen and the wait staff plays the part brilliantly. My milkshake and Turkey sandwich really hit the spot.

From here it was time to relax. We headed over to the Grand Floridian for five pm massages. What a fabulous idea this was. It didn’t come cheap, but, by staying at a value resort it was in our budget. We each did 50 minute Swedish massages that were to die for! This is tip #5

Schedule some time to do something that is not included in theme park admission.

It adds another element to your vacation that will be much appreciated! The Grand is such a beautiful relaxing place as it is and the spa follows suit. It was really a great way to rest our bodies and minds from our crazy day thus far. I cannot think of a better day than one that begins on Splash Mountain and Ends at the Grand Floridian Spa with a massage…but wait…our day was only half way over!

After our massage it was back to the Magic Kingdom for some nighttime fun! We ate dinner at Pecos Bills which is always a hit! We headed over to Frontierland, where much to our dismay, Splash was closed down for technical difficulties! We got a fast pass to big thunder, rode pirates and then watched Wishes. We had a great spot for viewing and the show as always was spectacular! On our way back to Frontierland we were caught up in the Main Street Electrical parade. It was then that we noticed some action on Splash Mountain! I am a huge splash fan so when the parade ended we headed right for it! To our pure delight the cast members ushered us onto the ride. There was no wait since it had just come back to life. We happily took our seats in the flume and made it to the first little drop (you know the one that drops you into the peaceful creek where that delightful music begins playing.) Then things got sticky. Our flume hit the flume in front of us and upon further inspection about 8 flumes were stopped right before the drop that brings you indoors. Uh-Oh! We listened to the music for a good 5 minutes before it was shut off and the cast members’ voice came over the intercom telling us to calmly remain in our logs until assistance arrived to get us out! We were being evacuated from splash! The cast members did a fabulous job getting everyone out of the ride. They led us down the emergency exit and out the back of the ride where we were given fast passes to any other attraction.

By the time this fiasco had finished we had just enough time for a ride on Big Thunder, a cinnamon bun at the Main Street Bakery and a slow walk to the monorail to get our car.

Sunday Morning came very very early, but we had a lot to accomplish. We were headed to Epcot! We arrived at Epcot first thing in the morning and rode both Test Track and Soarin’ with no wait at all. We watched Captain EO and Turtle Talk with Crush and decided that it was time for lunch and a nap! We headed to the Wilderness Lodge for a delightful lunch at Roaring Forks. I love the lodge and wanted to share it with my friend. We ate fabulous sandwiches and then lounged for a bit in the beautiful sun. I fell sound asleep for an hour and a half! This totally recharged my batteries and gave me the energy to power through the food and wine festival. Tip #6

Take time to rest.

You are not superman just because you are at Disney!

The food and wine festival was amazing. We ate empanadas, African breads, Irish Cheeses, pork loin, cheddar cheese soup, lobster rolls Chinese dumplings, and so so so much more. I really think this event is one of the best that Epcot offers. It is certainly more of a grown up thing and I think I will bring my husband next year. I was totally full when we left and had only spent about 12 dollars! I got to sample all the foods I have always wanted to try without going broke. The samples they give you are very generous and I never felt that I was over charged for anything.

We left Epcot at 8pm ready to hit up Down Town Disney. Keep in mind this is Halloween night! We were out of luck! Had we taken Disney Transportation we probably would have been fine, but every parking lot was full. We decided instead to spend our final evening enjoying our resort. We ate a very nice late night snack at Eveything Pop, played in the arcade, and toured the grounds. We were tired and ready for bed. We slept soundly that night and awoke to a beautiful morning. Sadly, our destination today was home.

We packed a lot into a short amount of time which was really neat! I think you can do Disney on both a monetary budget and a time budget if you plan really carefully and follow some simple guidelines: Make a plan and stick to it, take time to rest, get to the parks early, make advanced dining reservations!

Thanks for reading and have a magical day!

Taste of Spain from Barcelona, Spain at Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival

Taste of Spain from Barcelona, Spain at Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival

The Taste of Spain included Serrano Ham, Chorizo, Manchego cheese, Green Olives and Tomato Bread. I hate to say this, but this was my least favorite of all of the items that I tried. The ham and Chorizo (a type of sausage) was very fatty and chewy.

However, the Chorizo did have a deep flavor and a nice kick from the paprika. The olives were nothing more than what you can purchase at any grocery store. The Manchego cheese was the best part, but I really like that style of cheese.

It has an intense taste with notes of nuttiness and butter. It’s perfect to pair with red wine, which is what I did. I ordered the Marques de Caceres Rioja Crianza Red which paired nicely with the strong, bold flavors of the meats and cheese.

Magic Kingdom makeover: Scary to merry

Magic Kingdom makeover: Scary to merry

This article/news comes to us from the Orlando Sentinel.

Under the cloak of darkness, Walt Disney World rapidly turns pumpkins into poinsettias. But it’s not the handiwork of a fairy godmother. Dozens of workers shift the Magic Kingdom from Halloween into a full-on, deck-the-halls Christmas mode.

The stroke of midnight isn’t the deadline, yet a sense of urgency looms. The quick change started immediately after the final Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party last Monday and had to be finished before tonight, the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party event of the season.

“As soon as the [Halloween] event was over, we took all of the event-specific decor out of the park,” said Katrina Wilder, a Disney World planner for events and decorating support. First to be packed up are themed backdrops for photo opportunities with characters.

Other first-night work includes the removal of jack-o’-lantern decorations from the lampposts on Main Street. Sometimes the dismantling causes paint to chip on the pole, prompting “a mad rush of painters to touch it up,” Wilder said.

Take Two With Phineas And Ferb Premiering Friday, December 3 On Disney Channel

Take Two With Phineas And Ferb Premiering Friday, December 3 On Disney Channel

In the footsteps of the talk show greats, genial stepbrothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher will host their own animated/live action talk show, originating from a Danville set complete with a fake skyline, comfy guest chairs and the boys’ longtime friend, Isabella Shapiro-Garcia, as the stage manager. The mash-up show has already booked real life “A list” celebrity guests, a list that will rival morning, afternoon and late night talk show rosters. Movie star Jack Black (“Gulliver’s Travels”) is the inaugural guest on the wonderfully playful “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb,” premiering FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3 (between 9:00-9:15 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. It will also air on Disney XD.

The two-minute interview segments will encourage guests to mix it up, do the unexpected, disclose their fondest hopes and deepest thoughts and debate the implications of myriad subjects from super powers to juggling. Some segments will include musical performances. Advanced technology is a vital component of the “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb” production, allowing others, including Dr. Doofenshmirtz, the opportunity to interact with the guests.

In addition to Black, the booked guests on “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb” are: actor/comedian Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”), actor Seth Rogen (“Green Hornet”), legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, Grammy-winning recording artist Taylor Swift, the dean of talk shows, Regis Philbin (“Live with Regis and Kelly“), star of stage and screen Neil Patrick Harris, actress Emma Roberts (“Scream 4”), Grammy-winning producer Randy Jackson (“American Idol”) and talented comedian Cedric the Entertainer.

The Emmy Award-winning hit series “Phineas and Ferb” has ranked as TV’s #1 animated series among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 for two consecutive years. It is TV’s #1 animated series in fiscal 2010 among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, delivering 3.3 million Total Viewers on average.

“Phineas and Ferb” airs on Disney XD and Disney Channels in 158 countries and in 32 languages around the world. In the U.S., five new music videos and the cleverly comedic “Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation” holiday special will be presented on Disney XD, Disney Channel, ABC Family and the ABC Television Network this year.

The success of the series has created opportunities for other Disney divisions, including the recently released Phineas and Ferb: Holiday Favorites, an album that puts the popular characters’ unique and humorous twist on holiday tunes. The release marks the second album from “Phineas and Ferb.” Its soundtrack is a solid performer, having spent 28 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The album debuted at #1 and spent 50 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Children’s Top 100 chart. The soundtrack’s Spanish language version peaked at #4 on Spain’s Top 100 Album chart.

“Phineas and Ferb” has also inspired extensions via Disney Consumer Products (action figures, apparel and accessories), Disney Publishing (books, comics), Disney Interactive Studios (a fast-selling Nintendo DS game) and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.
