We have a Muppets News Flash! The first official image from next year’s ‘The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made’ has been released.

Here is the official word about the movie.

The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made’ is about Gary (Segel), Mary (Amy Adams), and Walter (a man, his girlfriend, and the man’s life-long nondescript, brown puppet best friend) getting the old Muppet gang – now retired entertainers known for the same Muppet show we know them from – together to save the TV studio that the original show was shot in. A villain, Tex Richman (Chris Cooper), bent on drilling for oil underneath the studio, is due to take over the studio in weeks, and the only way to stop him? Putting on a show that draws ten million viewers.

All-New Mickey Mote, A Child-Sized Remote, Provides Hours Of Fun With An Interactive Viewing Experience

All-New Mickey Mote, A Child-Sized Remote, Provides Hours Of Fun With An Interactive Viewing Experience

This coming holiday, parents and their preschoolers will discover a whole new way to watch and play their favorite Disney preschool DVDs, with the all-new “Mickey Mote”. This one-of-a-kind, kid’s remote control, from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, will debut this November 16th packed with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Number Roundup and Handy Manny: Big Construction Job. The new “Mickey Mote” is a child-friendly handheld remote control, shaped like Mickey ears, that will take children’s viewing experience to a whole new level by providing an engaging interaction with their favorite Disney characters. With multiple levels of play, the new Mickey Mote will provide hours of fun, engaging and challenging adventures for kids age 2-5. The Mickey Mote is a value for moms and fun for kids!

How It Works:

The Mickey Mote works with any Disney Preschool DVD that includes Discovery Mode(tm), the interactive “Watch & Play” feature on the DVD! All parents have to do is program the remote control – there’s an easy and quick set-up guide in each DVD- and select the Discovery Mode feature on the menu screen. Within minutes, kids will be easily responding to questions, throughout the story, about scenes they just watched (such as “What color is Goofy’s hat?”) by pressing one of four color-coded buttons on the device — a yellow star, green circle, orange triangle or blue square – to click in their responses. Discovery Mode features include two levels of play, which provides more challenging questions as the child grows.

Why Parents Will Love It:
Once families have purchased a Disney Preschool DVD that comes packaged with the Mickey Mote, they can continue to build their Disney Preschool libraries as the Mickey Mote works in compatibility with any Discovery Mode enhanced DVD. For example, kids can immediately use the remote with any of the following titles:

* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally
* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Adventures in Wonderland
* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Choo Choo
* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Bow-Tique
* Handy Manny: Manny’s Motorcycle Adventure
* Handy Manny: Manny’s Big Race
* Little Einsteins: Fire Truck Blast Off
* My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Super Duper Super Sleuths
* My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Bedtime With Pooh

Note: Discovery Mode can also be played using any DVD remote control.
Look for more Discovery Mode DVDs on future Disney Preschool franchise releases such as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny!

Available beginning on November 16, 2010, consumers can purchase either Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Number Roundup and/or Handy Manny: Big Construction Job DVDs – which will each come specially packaged with the new Mickey Mote – for the suggested retail price of $29.99 (US)/$35.99 Canada.

Walt Disney Animation Studios Presents Winnie the Pooh

Walt Disney Animation Studios Presents Winnie the Pooh

Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh,” the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years. With the charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail.   “Well a tail is either there or it isn’t there,” said Pooh. “And yours isn’t… there.”

Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny. Inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne’s books in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style, “Winnie the Pooh” hits theaters July 15, 2011.

Notes:

  • Veteran Disney animator/storyman/director Burny Mattinson (a key animator on the 1974 featurette “Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too!”) serves as senior story artist, with a dynamic young directing duo—Stephen J. Anderson and Don Hall—at the helm.
  • Director Stephen J. Anderson helmed animated films “Meet the Robinsons” and “Journey Beneath the Sea,” among others; he worked as a story supervisor on “Brother Bear” and “The Emperor’s New Groove,” and as an additional story artist on 2008’s award-winning “Bolt.”  Director Don Hall is a veteran story artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios with credits including “The Princess and the Frog,” “Meet the Robinsons,” “Brother Bear,” “Home on the Range,” “The Emperor’s New Groove” and “Tarzan.”
  • “Winnie the Pooh” welcomes a few new voices to the Hundred Acre Wood:  Craig Ferguson (“The Late Show with Craig Ferguson”), Tom Kenny (“SpongeBob SquarePants”) and Bud Luckey (director of the Pixar short “Boundin’”).
  • Actress/musician/singer/songwriter Zooey Deschanel (Indie folk band, “She & Him”) provides the vocals for a special rendition of the beloved “Winnie the Pooh” theme song.
  • London-born A.A. Milne (1882-1956), a noted writer and playwright, penned two books and several poems about the beloved Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin (named after Milne’s son). His books are actually collections of stories, five of which inspired the film.
  • A.A. Milne’s son’s teddy bear inspired the beloved character. The child named his bear after Winnie, a Canadian black bear from London Zoo.  Pooh was the name of a swan they encountered together.
  • Filmmakers visited Ashdown Forest where Milne wrote the books and the real Christopher Robin spent his summer vacations.
  • Tony® Award-winning songwriter Bobby Lopez, and his wife Kristen, wrote the seven spirited new songs for Pooh and his pals, including “A Pooh Bear Takes Care of His Tummy,” “A Very Important Thing To Do,” “Everything Is Honey” and “The Winner Song.” Lopez is composer on several episodes of “The Wonder Pets,” which earned a Daytime Emmy® in 2006 for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition.

Disney Takes Over Times Square with a Star-Studded Parade Celebrating New Disney Store

Disney Takes Over Times Square with a Star-Studded Parade Celebrating New Disney Store

Mayor Bloomberg Joins Disney Characters, Celebrities and Top Executives to “Unlock Imagination” and Officially Open Doors of Largest Disney Store in North America.

Today, Disney Store celebrated its worldwide high-tech makeover with an over-the-top grand opening of its premier Times Square location. Crowds of fans, proudly wearing Mickey ears, cheered on while a colorful parade of Disney’s most beloved characters, from Mickey and Minnie Mouse to Cinderella and Buzz Lightyear, arrived to join Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Walt Disney Co. President and CEO, Robert Iger, celebrities including Melissa Joan Hart of ABC Family’s “Melissa & Joey;” Anika Noni Rose, voice of Princess Tiana from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog;” ESPN’s Jesse Palmer, award winning actress Brooke Sheilds, Broadway stars and top Disney executives as they unveiled the largest Disney Store in North America. Disney Store Times Square, the crown jewel of store openings this year, culminates the first phase of a worldwide transformation that solidifies the retailer’s global leadership in children’s retail and aims to deliver “the best 30 minutes of a child’s day.”

“Disney Stores play a critical role in how millions around the world experience our brand,” said Disney President and CEO Bob Iger. “The new store design allows kids and families to have a fun and immersive experience while shopping for their favorite Disney products. We couldn’t be more excited to open this new Disney Store worthy of New York and Times Square.”

Fans were wowed by Disney Store’s digital billboard soaring 68 feet above Times Square. Weighing over 1,000 pounds, stretching 2,250 square feet and featuring 2.3 million diodes, the bright beacon showcases new and exclusive Disney content 365 days a year. Disney Store’s digital billboard played an integral role in the celebration as exclusive clips from upcoming highly anticipated Disney holiday films “Tangled” and “TRON: Legacy” were shown to thousands of fans in Times Square during the grand opening “pre-show.”

Robin Roberts from ABC’s Good Morning America hosted the opening ceremony, offering commentary as Disney characters magically arrived by horse-drawn carriages, classic cars and along trails of Pixie dust. The excitement built up as Roberts enlisted help from Mickey and Minnie Mouse to open the store. Cheers from the crowd rose as Mickey then called for reinforcements, triggering a dramatic entrance from Tinker Bell as she swooped in across Times Square’s iconic digital billboards followed by Buzz Lightyear jumping in to the rescue. Dazzling fireworks lit the sky as they applied the perfect blend of magic, innovation and technology to help Disney’s Family.com sweepstakes winners 9-year-old Aden Schwartz and his 5-year-old brother Trevor Schwartz from Boston, Massachusetts to “unlock magic” and turn the oversized key to officially open the store..

“The opening of the Disney Store in Times Square will help make the crossroads of the world an even more vibrant place to visit,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “New York City’s relationship with Disney dates all the way back to 1928 when Mickey Mouse made his debut in Steamboat Willie at the Colony theater. From the 1964 World’s Fair in Queens where the ‘It’s A Small World’ attraction was first seen to Disney’s more recent investments in one of the City’s oldest and greatest theatrical landmarks, the New Amsterdam Theatre, Disney continues to bring magic to the millions of residents and visitors of New York City and jobs and activity to our economy.”

Guests flooded the store when doors opened at 1 p.m. to be among the first to experience the two-level, 20,000+ square foot store and its key attractions including:

-Two-story, 20-foot high Disney Princess Castle complete with its “talking” Magic Mirror

-Colorful Lucite trees springing up throughout the store, showcasing custom Disney content

-Disney·Pixar CARS-branded Ridemakerz custom car building experience

-Expansive 12-foot screen nestled in the 350-square foot Disney Store Theatre that allows guests to personalize their experience by selecting favorite Disney film clips, videos, classic animation and more

-Breath-taking skyline surrounding the store featuring New York signature landmarks

-Exclusive New York City inspired Disney merchandise found nowhere else in the world

Each feature brings to life the stories of Disney’s most popular characters for local New York residents as well as the estimated 26 million tourists that visit Times Square each year. To extend the magic to as many guests as possible each year, the Disney Store Times Square will be open 105 hours per week, 9 a.m. to midnight every day.

As one of the newly designed Disney Stores, a unique opening ceremony will take place every morning at the Times Square Disney Store: one lucky child will be chosen each day to take part in the opening ceremony and officially “unlock magic” at Disney Store with an oversized lock and key. The child also receives their very own replica key to take home as a keepsake to remind them of that special day. This opening ceremony is a Disney Store ritual which creates magic every morning.

Here is a video from the event!

Vornado Realty Trust is a proud sponsor of the Disney Store Times Square grand opening event. Vornado is one of the largest owners and managers of commercial real estate in the United States with a portfolio totaling over 100 million square feet, primarily located in the New York and Washington, DC metropolitan areas.

Marvel Has Three TV Projects In Development, Says Disney Chief

Marvel Has Three TV Projects In Development, Says Disney Chief

This article comes to us from MTV.

It’s no secret that Marvel Entertainment is in the process of developing new live-action television projects based on their expansive library of characters and concepts — and even if the exact who’s and what’s remain unclear, we’re now getting a picture of the number of projects currently under development.

Robert Iger, chief executive of The Walt Disney Company, spoke about Disney’s current and future endeavors in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. When the conversation turned to Disney’s plans for their recently acquired Marvel brand, Iger revealed something rather interesting about the comics publisher’s future television presence.

“[With Marvel] we’ve taken back distribution, or bought back distribution from Paramount, for some critical franchises. Notably, ‘Iron Man 3’ will be distributed by us, and ‘Avengers,’” he said, before adding the truly interesting bit: “We’re developing three live-action series for ABC and ABC Family.”

23 Questions With Cat Cora from D23

23 Questions With Cat Cora from D23

The Muppets and celebrity chef Cat Cora add flavor to Disney Online’s two new cooking shows, Hasty Tasty Cooking Tips and The Muppets Kitchen.

tart with a handful of Cat Cora’s signature family-style dishes. Add a dash of Muppet madness. Place on the Internet to serve. That’s the recipe Disney Online has followed in dishing up a full menu of episodes for their two new cooking shows, Hasty Tasty Cooking Tips and The Muppets Kitchen. The online webisodes, which run on Disney.com and DisneyFamily.com, break the conventional cooking show mold with a buffet of Muppet silliness. And Cat eases kitchen anxiety with her no-fuss tips and recipes, made for anyone who visits the kitchen — kids and adults alike. D23’s Billy Stanek caught up with the famed Iron chef to get a sampling of her latest online treats, which are tickling viewers’ taste buds — and fancy! — with great dishes and one-of-a-kind gust stars.

Are you excited to be involved with The Muppets?
CC: They are really making a comeback and they’re making a movie now, so it’s exciting to be a part of all that. I’ve had a really good time with them, developing the shows.

Who’s cooking in the kitchen with you?
CC: It’s Angelo and me. It’s our kitchen and it’s all about cooking and bringing families together. Pepe is also a big part of what’s going on here, but Angelo and me are the stars. Of course Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie and Gonzo pop in from time to time.

Where did your co-star Angelo come from?
CC: Swedish Chef was a master in the kitchen and his Italian protégé was Angelo, so we thought he would be a great help with the new show and new recipes.
