ABC Family Original Movie Event: CYBERBULLY Premiereing July 17!

Online fun and games turn destructive when a teenage girl is digitally harassed in the two-hour ABC Family original movie, “Cyberbully,” starring Emily Osment (“Hannah Montana”), Kelly Rowan (“The OC”) and Kay Panabaker (“No Ordinary Family”), premiering Sunday, July 17 at 8:00PM ET/PT. “Cyberbully” is being presented as part of a campaign by ABC Family and Seventeen magazine to bring awareness to the youth issue of digital abuse and bullying. The initiative, Delete Digital Drama, will launch this summer on the network and in the magazine’s August 2011 issue.

“Cyberbully” follows Taylor Hillridge (Osment), a teenage girl who falls victim to online bullying, and the cost it takes on her as well as her friends and family. Taylor is a pretty 17-year-old student dealing with her parents’ recent divorce and painfully aware of her lower social status in high school. When her mom gives her a computer for her birthday, Taylor is excited by the prospect of going online to meet new friends without her mother always looking over her shoulder. However Taylor soon finds herself the victim of betrayal and bullying while visiting a popular social website. Obsessed with the damaging posts, she begins to withdraw from her family and friends, including her life-long best friend, Samantha Caldone (Panabaker). Tormented and afraid to face her peers at school, Taylor is pushed to a breaking point. It is only after this life-changing event that Taylor learns that she is not alone – meeting other teens, including a classmate, who have had similar experiences. Taylor’s mom, Kris (Rowan), reels from the incident and takes on the school system and state legislation to help prevent others from going through the same harrowing ordeal.

The network will debut a PSA during “Cyberbully” featuring star Emily Osment. In the public service announcement, Osment will direct viewers to StompoutBullying.org, providing a direct resource for viewers and readers to reach out for help, if necessary. For those who are in need of immediate help/assistance, they can go to the website or call the Stomp Out Bullying hotline at 855-790-HELP.

“Cyberbully” was written by Teena Booth and directed by Charles Binamé. The executive producers are Michael Prupas and Joel Rice.

ABC Family’s Hit Comedy “Melissa & Joey” Returns With All-New Episodes Premiering Wednesday, June 29 At 8:00 ET/PT

The laughter continues when ABC Family’s hit sitcom “Melissa & Joey” returns with all-new episodes on an all-new comedy night premiering Wednesday, June 29 (8:00PM ET/PT). The network’s new comedy “State of Georgia” premieres that same night, immediately following at 8:30PM ET/PT. The network will air a special “Melissa & Joey” marathon (twelve episodes) leading up to the premiere, Wednesday, June 29, from 2:00PM ET/PT – 8:00PM ET/PT.

In the premiere episode, “Enemies With Benefits,” Joe is excited for his upcoming date, but when he reveals to Mel it’s with his ex-wife Tiffany (Megan Hilty), who dumped him after he lost his fortune and broke his heart, Mel and the kids see trouble on the horizon. Tiffany immediately tries to befriend Mel and confides she is pregnant. Mel begrudgingly promises to keep the info between them, but is stricken with guilt and tells Joe the big news. Much to Mel’s shock, Joe confesses that the child might be his. Mel begins to question her own feelings for Joe as the two discuss the reality that Joe may soon be a father.

ABCFamily.com will premiere Joey Lawrence’s new single, “Rolled,” which will be available as a free download exclusively on the site for one week, starting Wednesday, June 29. The single will then be available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon and emusic. ABCFamily.com will be streaming the song for six months post the exclusive-giveaway.

“Rolled” is an upbeat pop/dance song produced by famed hit producer/songwriter Matthew Gerrard who co-wrote the song with Lawrence. Lawrence sings the title theme song on ABC Family’s “Melissa & Joey.”

Hulu Reportedly Renewed Disney's Streaming Rights

There has been a rumor floating that Hulu was preparing to offer itself for sale and a couple of recent actions indicate that this may just be true. It has been reported by AdAge that Disney and Hulu have reached a tentative agreement to renew Disney’s streaming rights and this combined with the reported renewal of streaming rights with Fox earlier this weeks signals that something may be up.

The nature of Hulu’s business dictates that the more streaming they can offer the higher the potential sale price may be.

Ok I know your reading that headline and saying Really?!? I am there with you. It is being blasted around the internet today that Pixar is working on Toy Story 4???

Here are the details.

In a BBC interview for his Larry Crowne press tour, Tom Hanks responded to a question about the possibility of a Toy Story 4 with the following comment: “I think there will be, yeah. Yeah, yeah, they’re working on it now.

That is an interesting way to break the news Mr Hanks.

I mean seriously do we really need a 4th Toy Story? I thought that Toy Story 3 completed the Trilogy perfectly and there really isnt much more that needs to be said. Could this be the Mystery Movie that is coming out in 2013?

What do you think? Do you think Pixar is out for the almighty dollar? I mean I have read many news stories talking about how Cars 2 was just that a Money making opportunity and had very little to do with an actual plot or storyline.

If you don’t believe me read up on some of the reviews. Most will say the same thing. And please don’t get me started on ticket prices going up at Walt Disney World. Bad enough we have to get a 2nd mortgage just to visit once a year. OY!

Disney Consumer Products (DCP) today announced the first merchandising program inspired by Disney Channel’s hit buddy comedy series Shake It Up. Since January 2011 to date, Shake It Up is TV’s #1 series with Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14.* The hit show centers on CeCe and Rocky, played by Bella Thorne and Zendaya, whose dreams of becoming professional dancers are realized when they land roles on a popular teen dance show. The new merchandise program for tweens plays up the characters’ dancing lifestyle and energy of the show and features a unique collaboration with Mattel and fashion collections at Target, K-Mart, Sears, Payless, JCPenney, Kohl’s, and Macy’s. The new products will begin arriving in stores this August through the holiday season.

“Due to the series’ contemporary dance focus, we are able to offer legitimate dancewear and fun activewear, which we know is in demand by tween girls, but aren’t necessarily widely available,” said Lisa Avent, vice president and general manager, Franchise Development and Marketing, DCP. “The Shake it Up-inspired designs provide both fashion and functional product for kids and tweens who love the show’s dance routines, zippy antics and also dream big like the characters.”

Tween VIP Dolls
This holiday season, Disney and Mattel will launch a line of Shake It Up dolls inspired by lead characters CeCe and Rocky as part of its new Disney VIP Doll collection. Taking their lead from the high-spirited hero characters and best friends, girls can recreate or imagine their own dances or stories. The stylized dolls are dressed in the ultra hip, urban-inspired fashions from the show. The VIP doll collection launches this July at Toys “R” Us and Walmart with favorite Disney Channel characters Hannah Montana, Alex Russo of Wizards of Waverly Place, and Sharpay from High School Musical and its spin-off, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure. Shake It Up characters will be available starting this October. The VIP dolls will retail for $16.99, with each doll unlocking VIP access to www.disney.com/disneyvip (launching July 15), where girls can enhance their connection to the characters through activities and exclusive content.

Payless
Shake It Up products will be debuting at Payless for the first time this fall with five different styles of footwear – ranging from combat boots to chic sneakers and ballet flats. The assortment comes in girl shoe sizes 10.5 to 6 and range in price from $24.99 to $34.99.

Back-to-School
Starting July 15, Shake It Up related separates and t-shirts will be available at all Kmart stores and later this holiday season, sleepwear and accessories will be joining the mix as well. Vibrant Shake It Up tees, sleepwear and backpacks will also be available in July at Sears for fans. More sleepwear options can be purchased at select Kohl’s stores this summer and exclusive Shake It Up graphic tees will be sold at JCPenney and Macy’s before school is back in session.

Official Pixar's Brave Trailer Goes Live

Disney/Pixar has officially released the teaser trailer for its 2012 film, Brave, which is attached to the screenings of Cars 2 3D.

The rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland serve as the backdrop for Brave, a new tale that joins the land’s ancient lore — stories of epic battles and mystical legends passed down for generations. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, Brave is the grand adventure of Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald), a skilled archer who confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts to discover the true meaning of courage.

The film also features the voices of Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane. Brave, full of heart, memorable characters and Pixar’s signature humor, takes aim at theaters on June 22, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.
