Beating the Post Disney Vacation Blues

Beating the Post Disney Vacation Blues

Coming home from a wonderful trip to Disney World can be really hard, especially if it’s something you’ve been looking forward to for a long time. After the planning, traveling, eating, watching, and riding is all said and done, the post-Disney vacation blues might start to set in. I’ve experienced it many times, and each time I’ve found new and different ways to make the transition back to real life a little easier.

Here are a few quick tips to ease the transition:

Create a trip report
There are so many websites out there where Disney fans around the world gather to share their thoughts, tips, and tricks about their Disney vacations. One of the most popular sections of these sites are the trip report areas, where members post photos and write about their travels. It is such a great way to document your experience! Share your special moments in the parks, a tasty meal at a signature restaurant, and introduce your family to the boards. I did this for the first time this year, and it was so much fun re-living the trip and sharing my memories with other people who appreciate Disney just as much as I do.

Share your photos with family and friends
One of my favorite things to do right when I get back from a trip is share my photographs with my family and friends. I love narrating the trip through the photos, and my family loves to see them. Is your family far away? Post your pics on Facebook or Flickr, and invite others to view them! Also don’t forget about your Photopass.

Read Disney blogs and listen to podcasts
This has to be the number one thing that gets me by in between trips to Disney. I love reading blogs to get updates on what’s going on in the parks, and what I’ll have to look forward to. When I’m in the car or at the gym, I listen to podcasts (they’re free on iTunes!) about people talking about Disney news, views, and updates. There are so many resources out there to keep you in the know! Don’t forget to turn into Chip and Company for the best in Disney News & Views Daily!

Plan another vacation!

Is there anything better than knowing when you’ll go back? I know someone who refuses to leave a Disney trip until they have their next one booked! After you’ve relived the magic through your trip over and over again, consider planning another one. For me, the planning process is almost as fun as the vacation itself. Create a countdown, and before you know it, you’ll be back on Disney Property once again! Don’t forget to use a Disney Travel Agent!
Have you ever experienced the post-Disney vacation blues? How to make the transition back to real life easier for you? Let me know in the comments!

New and Unique twists coming to the Disney Fantasy

New and Unique twists coming to the Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy also puts some new twists on fun familiar to guests who have cruised on the Disney Cruise Line sister ship, Disney Dream:

  • The Muppets are coming to the Disney Fantasy in the context of an interactive adventure quest designed for guests nine and older. While playing “The Case of the Stolen Show,” guests move around the ship, uncovering clues to figure out the culprit behind the disappearance of Kermit’s banjo, Fozzie’s squirting flower, Gonzo’s crash helmet, Animal’s drum sticks and the Swedish Chef’s cleaver!. It’s a new spin on a self-paced game concept introduced on Disney Dream that “hides” the clues in pieces of Enchanted Art – wall hangings that are activated like magic when guests approach. “The Case of the Stolen Show” is just one of a trio of adventure detective games that may be played on the ship’s Enchanted Art.
  • While dinner may be served twice at popular Animator’s Palate, the show accompanying the meal is as different on the two evenings. All new aboard Disney Fantasy, guests’ cartoon creativity comes alive during dinner in a show called “Animation Magic.” On another evening, the room is immersed in a vivid undersea environment and Crush makes a special appearance, swimming around the restaurant and engaging in live impromptu interactions with guests.

A “sister ship,” but …

The Disney Fantasy is a “fraternal twin” to the Disney Dream which launched in early 2011. Both cruise ships are 1,115-feet in length, with 1,250 staterooms and suites and 4,000-passenger capacity. And both are warm and welcoming, elegant and richly detailed – harkening to the golden age of ocean-liner travel of the 1930s.

But veteran Disney cruise vacationers will start recognizing differences the moment they enter the Disney Fantasy’s atrium lobby. Its three-deck expanse is graced with sophisticated Art Nouveau-inspired details and patterns in hues of vibrant blue, green, pink and gold. Glamorous and graceful design elements include a sweeping grand staircase, towering fluted columns, grand piano and an exquisite marble and stone inlay floor.

From the ceiling hangs a cascading chandelier, grand-yet-delicate, that flows downward from a massive stained-glass flourish on the ceiling in peacock hues of greens and blues. The chandelier itself is more than 10 feet in diameter, a one-of-a-kind work of art evoking a peacock in stained glass and crystal beads. The whole effect is continued in the rich carpeting underfoot.

As with each Disney Cruise Line ship that launched before it, the Disney Fantasy has an atrium lobby statue celebrating a classic Disney character. Mickey at the helm, Ariel sitting pretty and Admiral Donald striking a pose have been previously featured. The pièce de résistance of the Fantasy lobby is Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse. Inspired by travel of the 1920s and 1930s, Minnie is cast in bronze and dressed in vintage fashion with a parasol and steamer luggage at her side – posed for keepsake pictures with guests.

New and Unique twists coming to the Disney Fantasy

There are places and experiences, services, dining and entertainment concepts that are hallmarks of the Disney Cruise Line experience. Here’s more of what’s in store during a Disney Fantasy cruise:

H2Ohhh! – When the Disney Dream launched, it boasted the first water coaster at sea, called Aqua Duck. A 765-foot long, twisting-and-turning scream machine, the get-wet attraction has been a huge hit with guests. So Disney Fantasy has Aqua Duck, too! Plus something new: AquaLab, a water play area where families can frolic among pop jets, geysers and bubblers. There also are separate pools for children, families and adults – plus a special splash-and-play area for little ones.

Outside the wet zone – Disney Fantasy continues the Disney Cruise Line tradition of special, fun-filled clubs, labs and cafes for guests of all ages – Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab for young children (ages 3-10), Edge for tweens (ages 11-13), Vibe for teens (ages 14-17) and Cove Café for adults – plus the family club D Lounge and It’s a Small World Nursery. In all the youth and family areas, there are activities and games supervised by crew members. In addition, Edge and Vibe are rendezvous spots for age-group games, quests and tours that take youth on adventures throughout the ship.

Exercise and fitness – Fitness has its places, too. Both inside at the Fitness Center and outside on Goofy’s Sports Deck, guests can “work out.” Among the facilities on the sports deck are a basketball court that can be configured into mini-soccer or volleyball court… and a walking track encircling the deck, perfect for those looking for a light – and scenic – workout. The Fitness Center is well-appointed with state-of-the-art cardio equipment and weight machines, and offers personal training sessions and instructional classes (yoga, Pilates, aerobics).

Fun and games – The nine-hole, Disney-themed miniature golf course isn’t “just plain Goofy.” It also stars Goofy’s son, Max. The interactive holes emphasize various golfing lessons – but, of course, with goofy twists. There are simulators that provide a variety of state-of-the-art virtual sports-gaming experiences, ping pong and foosball tables, and an arcade offering a variety of the latest interactive video games plus gaming classics such as pinball and air hockey.

Pampering and relaxation – Senses Spa & Salon offers therapeutic and beautifying personal care services for men and women in a retreat spanning two decks. It offers spa treatments, massages, body wraps, facials, aromatherapy, manicures, pedicures, hairstyling and blowouts, traditional men’s grooming services and more. There’s a “Relax Room” as well as a rainforest-themed aromatherapy steam room and sauna. While most of Senses Spa & Salon is for adult guests 18 and older, it includes Chill Spa – a separate spa for teens offering a wide variety of spa services and treatments, including facials, massages and manicures.

Family dining – With “rotational dining” serving up a changing menu of thematically magical restaurants, cuisines and mealtime experiences throughout the cruise, dinnertime is an adventure until itself. Royal Court, an exquisite dining room fit for a princess, and Animator’s Palate with it two different shows are just two of the venues that guests experience. But along with the ever-changing fun comes a constant: Guests’ wait staff rotates with them, sharing familiar smiles and knowing likes and needs on a first-name basis.

Adult dining – Adult couples and groups can reserve a dinnertime at two adult-exclusive restaurants – Palo, specializing in Northern Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist, and Remy, the most upscale and romantic dining experience about Disney Fantasy and serving French-inspired cuisine. Both restaurants come with stunning ocean views, an upscale dress code befitting the ambiance, the need for advance reservations and an upcharge.

Shows and deck parties – Disney Fantasy-exclusive “Wishes” and “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” are just part of the entertainment offerings in the lavish Walt Disney Theatre – and at other locations as well. A high point is the evening the ship is transformed for piratical family fun including the deck party “Mickey’s Pirates IN the Caribbean” and the fireworks spectacular “Buccaneer Blast,” featuring pyrotechnics choreographed to a dramatic musical score based on songs from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. There are other deck parties for sure … and movies galore, both on deck and in the Buena Vista Theatre, a chic cinema with plush stadium-style seats that screens first-run movies and digital 3-D films.

Techno-wizardry -On Disney Fantasy, reality includes jaw-dropping experiences resulting from 21st-century technology – whether it’s the young kids at Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab participating in fun and games on a huge, dynamic interactive floor alive with sights and sounds … or the family sitting together at a live performance during which great acting of a great story is enhanced by over-the-top effects … or the family settling down in an inside stateroom with a real-time view of the sea passing by outside via a “magical porthole.”

Private island – It wouldn’t be an East Coast Disney cruise experience if each Disney Fantasy itinerary didn’t include a day at Castaway Cay – a port of call that guest comments suggest is the “best stop” of the cruise! It’s a day that can be filled with water fun, beach play or just plain relaxation plus cookout eating.

The Disney Fantasy will sail out of Port Canaveral on seven-night Caribbean itineraries – alternating eastern (St. Maarten and St. Thomas) and western (Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Cozumel). Special Eastern Caribbean sailings in November and December 2012 stop at St. Thomas and San Juan, Puerto Rico. All Disney Fantasy itineraries include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

Rates for the seven-night Caribbean cruise itineraries on the Disney Fantasy start at $959 per person for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy. All pricing reflects a category 11C standard inside stateroom, Government Taxes and Fees not included.

New Experiences Coming to the Disney Fantasy

New Experiences Coming to the Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy is about to be a cruise vacation reality. And when the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet launches March 31, 2012, it will be a high-water mark for Disney fantasy afloat in more ways than the name on the bow. This ship, Disney’s fourth, offers entertainment, activities and dining experiences purpose-planned for seven-night cruises from her maiden voyage forward.

The creative team, aware this ship was bound for longer itineraries, had an opportunity to produce an extended portfolio of Disney fantasy offerings. Here are several highlights of experiences adding to the fantasy fun in store:

  • The launch of a new Disney ship includes the premiere of a new Broadway-style stage spectacular in the lavish Walt Disney Theatre. Aboard Disney Fantasy, two new shows are a highlight of the live-entertainment series guests enjoy each evening. The signature show “Wishes” is a 45-minute musical journey about three best friends who discover the secret to being a grown-up is staying connected to their inner child. Also new to Disney Cruise Line, “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” is a fast-paced musical comedy during which Aladdin is back as the “street rat” of Agrabah meeting a Genie who grants him three wishes, battling the evil Jafar, and falling in love with Princess Jasmine.
  • The princess and pirate fantasies of young guests can be enlivened with the Disney Cruise Line debut of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and The Pirates League – popular landside retailers specializing in makeovers. Young princesses can “look the part” for dinner at Royal Court, an elegant restaurant inspired by the classic Disney films “Cinderella,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Sleeping Beauty.” When the hugely popular deck party “Mickey’s Pirates IN the Caribbean” is on the evening schedule, young sailors’ piratical side can really come through via a Pirates League treatment.
  • Nightlife for adult vacationers takes a Fantasy spin with Europa – an entertainment district of high-energy, sophisticated and trendy clubs and lounges. Inspired by the night spots of Italy, France, Ireland and London, Europa is a continent of adult nighttime fun without borders. La Piazza is a lounge that draws inspiration from stylish Italian plazas. Skyline is a chic bar that provides ever-changing birds-eye views of stunning European cityscapes. O’Gill’s Pub is a rollicking Irish bar and Ooh La La is an elegant French champagne bar. The Tube transports guests to a vibrant metropolitan club reminiscent of swinging London.
  • With special areas devoted to young children, tweens, teens, adults, families and recreation, an expanded schedule of activities is in development for Fantasy cruises.

“We are excited to renew our long-term alliance with General Motors,” said George Aguel, Senior Vice President, Corporate Alliances for the Walt Disney Company. “This unique agreement extends collaboration between two of the most recognized brands in the world, a relationship that spans over 30 years. Disney World Quick Tips – Save money by packing a lunch

Disney World Quick Tips - Save money by packing a lunch

While we love the Disney Dining Plan and have used it in the past, last year when we purchased our Annual Passes we also picked up a Tables in Wonderland Card. It just made more sense for us since we have 2 trips so close together and with one infant and one fussy eater out of pocket was cheaper. For more on Tables in Wonderland vs Disney Dining Plan check out this article.

What we like to do while we are at Disney World is take a break about mid day is sneak off to the room for naps, to freshen up, and to explore. That is only after eating a bag lunch either in the room or in the parks. For us heading back to the room for a little R&R makes more sense for us but you can also bring your lunch with you as long as you follow these tips for bringing a cooler with you. Disney World Planning 101: Packing a cooler

As many of you know we live in North Carolina and for now driving is how we get to Disney World. As our youngest gets older we will start flying but for now we do not mind the drive at all. Before we leave for Florida we usually stop by Aldi (local grocery store) and get Sandwich Supplies, drinks, chips, and snacks. Since we don’t overload our suitcases with extra clothes we have the room.

So when we get to the parks and have our breakfast, then around lunch time we head back to our room for some sandwiches. After lunch my oldest daughter and I like to explore our resort, and go Resort Hopping. Nap time is usually an hour so we don’t want to venture to far. We are both looking forward to walking around the Animal Kingdom Lodge this time around.

If it is warm enough this would be a great time to head to the pool. Our last trip when we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn & Villas so we loved an afternoon dip at the pool.

So by packing a lunch over the course of a week you will save a ton of money and find that you are not burned out by the end of your vacation. Also don’t forget drinking water saves money!

Happy Planning

Doing Laundry vs Bringing a full suitcase

Doing Laundry vs Bringing a full suitcase

Have you flown lately? Airline baggage fees have become outrageous! You could drop anywhere between $15 to $70 (for oversize bags) PER bag.

At Walt Disney World  there are a lot of supplies that you honestly need to bring with you in order to save a lot of money in the park. My Perfectly Packed WDW Packing List for 7 days could end up costing you quite a lot in baggage fees.

And what is the majority of weight in suitcases? CLOTHES!!

Did you know that all resorts on Disney property have their own laundry facilities? For approximately $4.00 (in quarters) you can wash and dry a load of laundry. So if you’re at Disney for 7 days and only bring three days worth of clothing for a family of four to wash you might only have to spend $8.00… and assuming that the dryer just doesn’t dry like it should (hey its possible) you might only have to spring for another $4.00. You’ll need some laundry soap too which is only $1.00 a box (and you could bring it with you easily).

Grand total to do two full loads of laundry, including double drying? I’d say about $16.00.

You could easily drop $50.00 EACH WAY in baggage fees. Which means doing laundry would save you about $84.00!!! I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather book another Character meal with that money then give it to the airlines.

You will need to plan some time to actually do the laundry on your trip, so make sure you put that into your schedule for the week!

A Canadian Perspective of the Epcot Pavilion

A Canadian Perspective of the Epcot Pavilion

Mountain Range

Only eleven countries have the privilege of being represented in EPCOT at Walt Disney World. And as you probably already know, they are:

  • American Adventure
  • Canada
  • China
  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • Morocco
  • Norway
  • United Kingdom

Of course, it’s the Canada Pavilion that this article will focus on.

To begin with, I was surprised to find a Canada Pavilion at EPCOT. It’s all-too common for most of the world to see my country as nothing more than an additional State of the U.S.A. and not as the truly unique and beautiful place that it is. So I was doubly pleased to see that Canada was one of the first countries encountered as you walk around The World Showcase, Mexico being the other, if you go in a clockwise direction.

Canada isn’t one of the biggest Pavilions, but it does have a lot of content packed into its compact footprint. For example, you will find:

  • A Mountain
  • A river ending in a waterfall
  • A reproduction of the Butchart Gardens from Victoria, BC
  • A model of the Victorian-style Chateau Laurier hotel found in Ottawa

A Canadian Perspective of the Epcot Pavilion

Gardens

And these are just the physical features of the Canada Pavilion. In these things, this Canadian proclaims that the Imagineers have done a nice job of representing his country. Anyone who visits Canada leaves declaring the beauty and scope of our land, and this is well displayed in EPCOT.

But what of the other features of the Canada Pavilion? They are:

  • A totem pole and Indian canoe
  • An old Trading Post
  • A large French influence
  • Mounties
  • And Off-Kilter

Here we have the same problem that the other ten Pavilions exhibit: Outdated representation.

The totem pole, Indian canoe, and the Trading Post have long vanished from the common landscape of Canada. Any French influences are mostly restricted, at least overtly, to Ottawa and Quebec. Mounties are rarely, if ever seen, in the red uniforms associated with them. And I have never seen a man in a kilt in my entire life in Canada!

A Canadian Perspective of the Epcot Pavilion

Trading Post

A Canadian Perspective of the Epcot Pavilion

Off-Kilter

I remember sitting in the Norway Pavilion one day just across from the old Viking Ship, before it was removed. A mother walked by with her two children, and upon seeing the stereotypical ship, said to them: “Oh look, kids: A Viking Ship! We all have one of those in our back yards, don’t we?” The sarcasm told me she was Norwegian and didn’t care for such a representation of her country.

That being so, I can say in Disney’s defense, that without such stereotypical representations of a country’s heritage, how would one stand out from another? Today, we all have skyscrapers, cars, and modernization. EPCOT could thusly consist of just one Pavilion called Everycountry! How boring would that be?

The Canada Pavilion has a wonderful shopping area filled with traditionally Canadian wares. But for the most part, only expensive items are stocked, which the average Canadian wouldn’t buy everyday. Le Cellier Steakhouse does serve an authentic Canadian cuisine. I recommend the beer. And that brings us to the 360 degree Circle-Vision film ‘O Canada’. Recently redone, with Martin Short as emcee, this too gives a nice overview of both old and new, or modern, Canada.

So, as a Canadian, do I approve of how my country is represented by Disney at EPCOT?

I’d have to say ‘Yes!’

But I wonder if this is the case with you, the readers from the other countries represented in The World Showcase? Does Germany, United Kingdom, or even The American Adventure live up to how you would like to be represented?

Why not join the discussion in our comments section and let us, and Disney, know!

Do You Need a Car while at Walt Disney World?

Walt Disney World Transportation
Walt Disney World Transportation

A Chip & Co. reader recently asked: Do you need a car while at Walt Disney World Resort? The short answer is no.

My family and I vacationed at Walt Disney World Resort not long ago, and while I’d love to be there still, my feet are overjoyed not to be walking miles and miles a day. There’s one aspect of a Walt Disney World vacation that just can’t be beat: the transportation system.

Guests bound for Disney-owned Resort hotels via commercial flights to Orlando International Airport experience VIP treatment before they ever enter the Parks. Guests can arrange prior to their arrival to be treated like royalty with Disney’s Magical Express system. Special luggage tags allow vacationers to check their bags at departure and not have to worry about them again. Guests can bypass baggage claim, enjoy a complimentary ride aboard comfy motor coaches to their Resort, and find their bags magically awaiting them in their Guestroom. And, of course, when it’s time to leave the Kingdom, Guests again check their luggage and board motor coaches for complimentary transportation back to the airport. It’s all available at no extra charge no matter where you stay on Property.

Magical Express
Magical Express

Once onsite, Guests have many modes of travel to choose from within the Walt Disney World Transportation System. We drove our own vehicle to get there, but once it was parked, it stayed parked. Most convenient is the bus service. More than 300 buses driven by 1,100 full-time and 400 part-time drivers track 20 million miles per year toting Guests to and from the Parks, Resorts, and onsite attractions. The buses go just about everywhere on Disney Property. However, they do not transport Guests from Resort to Resort. To get from one hotel to another, Guests must take a bus to one of the Parks or Downtown Disney and transfer to another bus. Always allow extra time to get where you need to go.

While each Park has its own unique representative attraction, the monorail is Walt Disney World’s wienie. One line services the transportation center, Magic Kingdom, and the Resorts surrounding Seven Seas Lagoon, and a second line runs between Magic Kingdom and Epcot. According to Lou Mongello’s The Walt Disney World Trivia Book Volume Two, if you were to add up all the trips these German engineered trains have made over the 14.7 mile track since 1971, the mileage logged would equate to more than 25 round trips to the moon!

Yellow Monorail

Ferry boats (or fairy boats?) provide one more option. Since they are limited to waterways, they do not offer access to all entertainment or Resort areas. Guests can, however, take in some scenic relaxation while en route to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Downtown Disney, and select Resorts. Boats launch about every 15-30 minutes, but I’ve found them to be one of the quickest rides to catch.

Perhaps the best part of Walt Disney World Transporation is that it’s all available at no extra charge no matter where you stay on Property. Segway tours, horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, surrey bikes, canoes, yachts, and golf carts are some fee-based options offered at various locations around Walt Disney World Resort.

So, do you need a car at Walt Disney World? Four out of the five times my family has vacationed there, we have driven our own car. We’ve used it onsite once! I would say that if you have a restaurant reservation outside of the Parks, say at ‘Ohana or Whispering Canyon, since buses do not run between Resort hotels, it may be quicker and easier to take your own vehicle. If I remember correctly, the one time we drove our car it was to Downtown Disney in the pouring rain when our youngest was an infant. That worked out well for us, but for most other instances, Disney’s taken good care of us.

Please Refurbish This Ride — Tomorrowland Speedway!

Please Refurbish This Ride -- Tomorrowland Speedway!

As part of a series of posts, I’m going to be tackling the challenge that many of us think about, but not all of us are afraid to speak out about.  To be honest, I’m all ready to get flamed here by lovers of attractions, and those that don’t want to see anything change at all at Walt Disney World, and believe me, I don’t like change all that much either.  I’m still bummed about Mickey’s Toontown Fair closing! But there are some attractions that really do need to change in my opinion, and for me, Tomorrowland Speedway is one of those attractions.

Tomorrowland Speedway is a safe, fun way for kids of all ages to be able to enjoy “driving” and get their feet wet at it at the Magic Kingdom.  But to me, the Tomorrowland Speedway is about the slowest, most boring ride in all of Walt Disney World, and on top of it, often the lines are astronomically long! I don’t know what can realistically be done to improve the Tomorrowland Speedway.  It is an attraction that appeals to many generations of Walt Disney World travelers, for kids of all ages; my niece even enjoyed driving a car on the speedway, as you can see here!

Please Refurbish This Ride -- Tomorrowland Speedway!
Stephanie Driving at Tomorrowland Speedway

So help me out here, people.  Am I crazy for having these thoughts?  Should I have not admitted my “Please Refurbish This Ride” attraction?  Please tell me what you think of the Tomorrowland Speedway!  If you were going to change it in any way, what would you change?  Or, if you think it is great the way it is, tell me why you think this?  Thanks for reading!

Walt Disney World Resort Looking Forward to Changes in 2012

“Sorcerers

The year 2012 is finally here, which means that the debut of some exciting new guest offerings are only a few months (or even just a few weeks) away! Here’s a round-up of some of the upcoming openings and milestones Disney will be releasing in 2012.

  • Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom – This new interactive experience will debut at Magic Kingdom Park early this year (exact date TBA). The quest, which is included in the price of park admission, recruits guests to become apprentice sorcerers, and find and defeat villains in their hiding places within the park.

  • The debut of Royal Rooms – The newest offering in the line of Disney’s storybook rooms will open at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside this spring. A total of 512 themed rooms will feature regal accents, magical fireworks, and other nods to royal characters from favorite Disney films.
  • The debut of the Disney Fantasy – Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship will set sail in March, and bring with it a host of exciting new cruising experiences, including an interactive quest called “The Case of the Stolen Show,” starring The Muppets.
  • A 24-Hour Leap Day Celebration – For the first time ever, Magic Kingdom Park will stay open for 24 hours of fun as a part of a bicoastal event called “One More Disney Day.” The event will take place from Feb. 29 at 6 a.m., through March 1 at 6 a.m.

  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – The first phase of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is set to debut in May. This resort will honor Disney’s milestones in animation with wings themed after some of our most beloved films: “Finding Nemo,” “Cars,” “The Lion King” and “The Little Mermaid.”
  • The first openings in New Fantasyland – Magic Kingdom Park is undergoing a major expansion of Fantasyland that includes the addition of several exciting new attractions, restaurants and more.
  • Splitsville – A new 50,000-square-foot entertainment center will open in the West Side of Downtown Disney later this year to feature bowling, billiards, and dining.
