Video: Drunk man at Disney California Adventure fighting security and guests

In the video, we see a drunk angry man throwing punches at a Disneyland Resort security guard and guests. I have to think to myself, “why?” You are at California Adventure,  it’s not like you’re making the rounds at your local pub. Anyway, he gets pepper sprayed in the face and we get some funny commentary from the guys filming. I think this guy has been drinking vodka 😉

Like the people in the video, I don’t understand why it takes security so long to get here. I would imagine this hardly ever happens.

This is partly the reason why the Magic Kingdom is a dry park. I have seen many videos of people doing stupid things while drunk at Disney World. Like this guy.

D23 Celebrates 3rd Anniversary With Twitter Contest for some cool prizes!

As D23: The Official Disney Fan Club gets ready to celebrate its third anniversary in the midst of its most exciting year ever, D23 Members and Disney fans are invited to get in on the fun with a special, 23-day Twitter sweepstakes that combines the fun of Disney fandom, history and trivia with the thrill of a scavenger hunt.

Starting Feb. 17, D23’s “23 Days of Celebration” invites all Disney fans to help mark the third anniversary of the first and only official Disney fan club.  Each day at approximately 10 a.m. Pacific time, D23 will provide a different challenge for the day – and the first person to submit a valid photo that matches the challenge will win a special D23 prize.

For instance, D23 Members and Disney fans may need to raid their photo albums for a picture of themselves in front of a certain Disney Parks attraction, or might be asked to take a digital snapshot with a D23 pin, or wearing a specific item of Disney apparel.  Each day will offer a new challenge – and each day will present a new opportunity to win! Fans will submit photos via Twitter by “@ replying” @DisneyD23, including the hashtag #D23Sweeps.

Prizes will include exclusive D23 pins and patches, D23 collectible merchandise, and, on March 10 – D23’s third anniversary – a special prize package.

Which is Better Morning Extra Magic Hours vs Evening Extra Magic Hours?

Which is Better Morning Extra Magic Hours vs Evening Extra Magic Hours?

For those of you who choose to stay at a Disney World resort, you are given the luxury of Extra Magic Hours (EMH).  These are the hours that ONLY Walt Disney World guests are bestowed and include hours before and after the parks close at one of the four theme parks.

The hours available for Extra Magic fun do change.  To find the available hours during your vacation to Disney, be sure to check the hours here at Disney’s official site or on Touring Plans.com website.

Note that when you are planning, it is important to know that only one park per day is going to offer the morning hours and a different park is going to offer the evening hours.  The parks to receive the morning and evening hours change daily.

When planning your day, often times people attempt to hit the morning OR evening EMH as they feel that if they had been to the morning EMH, they would be too tired to enjoy the evening ones available.  Others do not have a park hopper ticket and thus cannot make use of both the morning and the evening EMH.  So, assuming you fall into one of these categories, how do you decide whether the morning or evening EMH are better?  This review should help:

1.  Are you a morning or evening person? If you always rise and shine at 5 AM, arriving at the parks for the typically available 8 AM EMH should not be a problem.  However, if you enjoy waking on your vacations at 10 AM, the morning EMHs will be of no use to you!

2.  How much time do you want in the parks? If you want to get the most bang for your buck, you could take advantage of both (if you have a park hopper ticket) to get the most number of hours in the parks.  However, if you instead do not have a park hopper, evening EMHs are often up to 3 hours long while the typical morning EMHs are usually only 1 hour long.

3.  You should consider the crowd levels after the opening of the parks. Many Disney vacationers flock to the park that offers the morning EMH.  As a result, that park is often more crowded than the other parks leading to longer lines more quickly throughout your day.  On the other hand, evening EMH are often experiences into the wee hours of the night, long after many of the Disney vacationers have gone back to their resorts.  As a result, attraction lines are often much, much shorter than in earlier times in the day.

The use of the morning or evening EMHs is up to you.  I find for myself and my family, that we avoid the park that offers the morning EMHs.  We instead go to the park offering the evening EMHs and arrive later in the day so we can stay through the EMHs and experience a park that is nearly empty!

What is your game plan when it comes to EMH?

Thanks Nancy at The Affordable Mouse for this great classic article!

Top 10 Things To Do at Night in the Magic Kingdom

Top 10 Things To Do at Night in the Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom is the most popular park at Disney World. It’s design, detail, and the experience that it offers is truly magical during the day; but it gets even more magical at night! One of my favorite things to do at Disney World is to explore this park after the sun goes down and the lights come on. Therefore, I have made a list of the top 10 things to do in the Magic Kingdom at night!

1. Wishes Nighttime Spectacular – There’s nothing more magical and spectacular than having the lights go down throughout the Magic Kingdom and hearing Jiminy Cricket’s voice as he tells about wishes as amazing fireworks explode over the castle. It’s worth going to the park at night just to see this show so this is why it’s definitely the #1 thing to at night in the Magic Kingdom.

2. Main Street, U.S.A. This part of the Magic Kingdom is beautiful during the day, but it’s even better at night when it’s all lit up! Also, you can’t beat that view of Cinderella Castle aglow at the end of the street.

3. Main Street Electrical Parade-Parades are always entertaining; but at night in the Magic Kingdom, you can see the Main Street Electrical Parade where the floats and characters are lit up in lights! This is a must-see at night in the park.

4. Tinkerbell in Flight – During Wishes, a glowing Tinkerbell will fly from Cinderella Castle and over the bridge into Tomorrowland. This is really cool and truly magical, especially if you have your own little princess who happens to be a Tinkerbell fan!

5. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – This popular Frontierland attraction is always a wild ride packed full of details during the day; but at night, it’s a whole new experience as it feels faster and you can’t see what’s coming next! Plus, if you time it right, you might see Wishes exploding overhead as you enjoy your wild ride.

6. The Magic, The Memories, and You-This new show at the Magic Kingdom is usually shown after the Main Street Electrical Parade and just before Wishes. During this show, photos taken throughout the day, along with other colors and effects, are projected onto Cinderella Castle for both an awesome and sentimental experience. This is just something that you have to see!

7. Splash Mountain-This is seriously one of Disney World’s best rides. As you go inside and out Chickapin Hill during your ride, and right before you drop, you’re treated to lofty views of the park which are even more picturesque at night. On my last trip, I rode Splash Mountain at night and watched the Main Street Electrical Parade winding through Liberty Square and Frontierland from above!

8. Take a Walk-Take some time to walk through each land in the Magic Kingdom at night. Each land is even more magical after the sun goes down with the rides, shops, and restaurants all lit up. Also, there are things you can see at night that you can’t during the day. For example, check out the Liberty Tree Tavern in Liberty Square which has glowing lanterns hanging from it’s branches at night; and Tomorrowland really looks like it’s in outer space when you visit it in the dark!

9. Tomorrowland Transit Authority/WedWay People Mover-This simple attraction goes inside and out and all throughout Tomorrowland. It’s a great way to see this land and some views of the castle at night while off your feet and with a gentle breeze to keep you cool!

10. Jungle Cruise-This classic, and hilarious, Adventureland attraction is mainly outdoors so it offers a different ride experience in the dark. It also makes it a little more exiciting!

Have you experienced Magic Kingdom at night? What is your favorite thing at this park after the sun goes down?
