Disney Announces Heroes Work Here – a Initiative To Hire, Train and Support Military Veterans

At Walt Disney Company’s Annual Shareholder meeting in Kansas City, President and Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Iger announced Heroes Work Here, a new company-wide initiative to hire, train and support returning veterans. The new program continues Disney’s long history of respect and appreciation for the U.S. Armed Forces by expanding the company’s commitment to recognize and honor the sacrifice and service of these men and women.

Disney will provide at least 1,000 jobs and career opportunities for returning U.S. veterans over the next three years, support military families and veterans during their transition into civilian life, and launch a national public awareness campaign to encourage all employers across the U.S. to hire veterans.

In addition to providing career opportunities for veterans, Disney will also invest in select non-profit organizations that provide training and other support services.  Through the Disney VoluntEARS program, employees will also engage in service projects with veterans’ organizations in communities around the country. The public awareness campaign, featuring veterans currently employed in various businesses across The Walt Disney Company, will highlight their value, encourage companies to hire these highly skilled men and women, and direct them to the Joining Forces initiative for more information.

Mr. Iger debuted the first spot at the conference, which can be viewed here:   http://di.sn/HeroesWorkHere

“As a new generation of America’s military men and women transition into civilian life, we are increasing our commitment and support for these modern day heroes,” said Mr. Iger.  “It’s a measure of our respect for how much they have sacrificed on our behalf, and our sincere gratitude for their extraordinary contributions to this country.”

He added, “The military values of honor, integrity, commitment, and courage, along with the skills and experience they’ve gained through their service, make veterans incredibly valuable employees for any company.”

Heroes Work Here includes recruitment efforts across all segments of The Walt Disney Company, including ESPN, the Disney-ABC Television Group, Disney Consumer Products, The Walt Disney Studios, and Disney Parks and Resorts. The company will host career fairs and participate in events designed to showcase opportunities for returning military personnel.

Information about Heroes Work Here and available positions for veterans can be found at a dedicated section of the Disney Careers Website.

St. Patrick’s Day Disney Fun

Raglan Road Dancers

Top ‘o the mornin’ to ya! This coming Saturday is St. Patrick’s Day, a festive time to don your green and wish for the luck of the Irish. If you’re visiting Walt Disney World between March 15 and 17, you’ll find lots of St. Paddy’s festivities going on at Downtown Disney. Get your fill of delicious Irish food and enjoy live Celtic music and dancing at and around Raglan Road in the Pleasure Island district. Face painting and stilt walkers will round out the celebration, and if you don’t want a pinch, you’d better grab some emerald beads, boas or bowler hats available at various kiosks and shops.

Not at a Disney Park this week? You can still find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow…or make an edible one yourself! Check out this great recipe from Disney Family Fun.

Rainbow cupcakes
Rainbow cupcakes from Disney Family Fun

You will need:

  • White cake mix (we used an 18-1/4-ounce box)
  • Food coloring (red, blue, green, and yellow)
  • Baking cups
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Gold foil-wrapped chocolate coin candy

What to do:

  1. Prepare your favorite white cake mix, then divide the batter evenly among six small bowls. Following the chart below, dye each bowl of batter a rainbow color.
RAINBOW COLOR DROPS OF FOOD COLORING
Purple 9 red and 6 blue drops
Blue 12 drops
Green 12 drops
Yellow 12 drops
Orange 12 yellow and 4 red drops
Red 18 drops
  1. Line 16 muffin pan wells with baking cups. Evenly distribute the purple batter among the cups, then the blue, and so on, following the order shown. As you go, gently spread each layer of batter with the back of a spoon to cover the color underneath.
  2. Bake the cupcakes according to your recipe directions. Before serving, remove the paper wrapping, and if you like, top each cupcake with a whipped-cream cloud.
  3. Serve with a handful of gold foil-wrapped chocolate coin treasure.

[I have made this recipe into a layer cake before. Use the same method above, but add colors alternately into baking pans instead of muffin cups and follow baking directions.]

Now, to get you properly attired, I think these Mickey and Minnie ears headbands should do the trick.

Mickey and Minnie St. Patrick's Day headbands

You will need:

  • Template for Mickey and Minnie St. Patrick’s Day Headband
  • Scissors
  • Stiff black felt for the ears
  • Regular felt scraps (yellow and two shades of green – self adhesive works well for this part)
  • Low temperature hot glue gun
  • Small piece of thin cardboard or cardstock (for the Mickey headband)
  • Green pipe cleaner (for the Minnie headband)
  • Thin black headband(s)

What to do:

  1. Print template and cut out felt shapes.
  2. Working with one ear piece at a time, apply a line of glue across the center of the connecting band (see template). Stick the glued portion to the underside of the headband, positioning it about 1½ inches left of the center point of the band. Now glue the two round ear flaps together as shown. Repeat for second ear, leaving about 2½ inches between the two ears.
  3. For Mickey’s hat, first sandwich a small rectangle of cardboard between the two pieces, then glue them together. (This will make the hat stand upright once it is attached to the band.) Fold and glue the hatband into place. Adhere buckle to the center of the hatband.
  4. To attach Mickey’s hat to the headband, glue the left edge of the brim to the left ear. Then glue the center of the brim to the headband. Do not attach the hat to the right ear — otherwise, the hat will buckle each time your child puts on the headband.
  5. For Minnie’s shamrock bow, glue a 3-inch pipe cleaner stem to one of the felt shamrocks, as shown. Next, glue a 2-inch length across the lower leaves. Glue the matching shamrock piece on top.
  6. Bend the leaves slightly forward to make the completed shamrock look more dimensional. Then glue it to the base of one ear.

Now go practice your Irish brogue, learn to dance a jig, and ye’ll be right fit fer a St. Paddy’s party!

What do you do on a Non-Park Day?

What do you do on a Non-Park Day?

Have you ever spent a day of your Disney vacation without visiting the parks? Have you ever planned an entire trip to Disney without stepping foot in one of the big four theme parks? The best part about Disney is if you really wanted to you could have a fabulous vacation without the amusements involved!

Here is a list of awesome things you can do at Disney without going to the parks. These are listed in no particular order, so try them all out. They are all amazing!

  1. Plan a day at Fort Wilderness. Fort Wilderness offers almost endless possibilities for fun. You can tour the horse barn and meet the steeds of Disney face to face. Sit on the beach and enjoy the sights and sounds of bay lake. Grab a drink and play a game of Jenga outside Crockets Tavern. Check out The Hoop Dee Doo Revue or Mickey’s Back Yard BBQ for a great dinner show. You can take a carriage ride and you can even meet up with Chip and Dale for a campfire sing a long!
  2. Resort Hop – Why not take the monorail around the block and check out The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian, and the Contemporary. From the Contemporary you can even add in the Wilderness Lodge by boat! Spend some time at each resort. Grab a snack or a cocktail and stroll the grounds.
  3. Visit Down Town Disney – The shopping is fantastic, but there is so much more you can do! Why not try out characters in flight or get tickets to see La Nouba. There is also the AMC theatres and Disneyquest which is an indoor gaming paradise! The House of Blues not only serves up some pretty good food, but they have some great concerts there as well. The times I have been we have seen They Might Be Giants and Guns and Roses on the roster of upcoming performers!
  4. Rent a water craft. There are several places you can do this, including The Contemporary, The Beach Club, Downtown Disney, Port Orleans, and The Polynesian. You can rent pretty much any type of water craft including  Sea Raycers and Canoes.
  5. Hit the Spa– There are wonderful spa services at many of the Resorts, but The Grand Floridian and The Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa offer the full package. This is a fabulous way to spend and afternoon.
  6. Go Golfing– There are several incredible Golf Courses on Disney Property Including both beginner and more advanced options. Not up for trudging around the links all day? Try some mini golf. There are two very fun courses in Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens.
  7. Richard Petty Driving Experience – Head over to the Disney Speedway to either ride along or drive a real stock car. These cars are fast and furious so be ready. This is way faster than Test Track.
  8. Take a cruise – You can book a special cruise to see the Fireworks or just dine aboard a private vessel. This is a great way to get out on the water and enjoy your evening.
  9. Hit the Boardwalk – You will find great food, entertainment and fun on the Boardwalk. Check out the dueling pianos at Jellyrolls or enjoy the talented street performers. Play classic carnival style games or check out the fun little shops. You are sure to entertain yourself for a while here!
  10. Be Lazy. No matter which Disney Resort you are staying in, I promise you there is plenty to do. Talk to your concierge about happenings at the resort. Plan a day revolving around your resort. Eat at the restaurants, lay by the pool, tour the entire grounds. You will learn something new!
  11. Get a cab and go check out International Drive. Once there you can buy a pass on the I ride Trolley which travels up and down the road. With the pass you will be able to get on and off the trolley all day long and explore all the cool things on I Drive. Check out Discovery Cove (with reservations,) Titanic the Experience, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, or have a drink at ICEBAR. A one day pass will run you about 4 bucks. You can also find coupons for many of the activities along the way!

So tell me, what do you do on your non park days?

The Muppets Honored With Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Muppets Honored With Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor the legendary Muppets with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 20, 2012 at The El Capitan Theatre, beginning at 11:30a.m.

The ceremony coincides with Disney’s “The Muppets” movie leapfroging into homes on Blu-ray™, DVD, Digital Download and On-Demand, becoming available in the same day.

What began with Kermit’s first TV appearance in 1955, has lead to a global phenomenon that is still going strong more than 50 years later.  Since “The Muppet Show” began in 1976, audiences worldwide have embraced the Muppets, including Kermit, Fozzie, Animal, Gonzo, Swedish Chef, the newest addition Walter and of course Miss Piggy!

With the success of “The Muppet Show,” the Muppets branched out to the big screen, releasing their first feature film, “The Muppet Movie,” in 1979. The film starred a myriad of actors, including Bob Hope, Cloris Leachman, Steve Martin, Mel Brooks, Richard Pryor and Paul Williams. This impressive list of celebrity cast and cameos became the hallmark of all Muppet films, six of which followed, including “The Great Muppet Caper” (1981), “The Muppets Take Manhattan” (1984), “The Muppet Christmas Carol” (1992), “Muppet Treasure Island” (1996) and “Muppets from Space” (1999).

The latest film, “The Muppets” (2011) follows Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams), from Smalltown, USA, as they head to Los Angeles for vacation and discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze Muppet Studios and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds.

All seven films have signature soundtracks that received countless awards, including an Academy Award®nomination for Best Song for “Rainbow Connection,” Best Original Score for “The Muppet Movie” and the 2012 “Best Original Song” Academy Award® for “Man or Muppet,” from the “The Muppets” (2011).

In addition to feature films, Muppet mania continued long after “The Muppet Show” ended its run.  Many television specials and documentaries featuring the classic Muppet characters have been produced. Muppet Magazine was published from 1983-1988 and “The Muppets” comic strip was syndicated in U.S. newspapers from the early to mid 1980s. Museum exhibits (“The Art of The Muppets,” “The World of Jim Henson: Muppets, Monsters & Magic,” “The Vision of Jim Henson” and others) featuring Muppet characters toured domestically and internationally from 1980-2001.

Multiple record albums for “The Muppet Show,” “Muppet Babies” and all of the Muppet movies have been released worldwide. Hundreds of Muppet books have also been published around the world since 1976.

Throughout the years the Muppets have also produced numerous public service announcements and have acted as spokespeople for many causes both domestically and internationally, ranging from The National Wildlife Federation, UNICEF and the American Film Institute, to the University of Maryland, the American Library Association and the Better World Society. Kermit regularly appears as a giant balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City.

The in-home release of the year’s best-loved and critically acclaimed family comedy “The Muppets” includes the ultimate three-disc value pack which contains the movie on Blu-ray high definition, DVD and Digital Copy, plus a download card which enables fans to have all the songs from the film’s bestselling soundtrack from Walt Disney Records.

Disney World Quick Tips – Saving Money at Quick Service Eateries for Adults

Disney World Quick Tips - Saving Money at Quick Service Eateries for Adults

I just returned from Walt Disney World after being there for 9 days, and I wanted to make sure to tell you about something that can save you BIG on your Disney vacation… ordering off the kids menu.

If you are really wanting to save some cash on your next Disney vacation then when eating quick service (aka counter service) order off of the KIDS Menu instead of the adult menu. You can read more about counter service HERE.  Let me see if I can break it down for you with an example:

image Pecos Bill’s in Magic Kingdom is one of my favorite places to eat! I love love love the burgers.

The adults meal is a little pricy. It is an Angus burger, about 1/4 pound and the smallest version of the adult drink goes for $11.58 (pre-tax).

The meal comes with a burger and fries. That’s it. You have to pay for that drink separately.

The kids burger meal goes for $5.40 (pre-tax). It includes a burger, fries (if you want them), an additional side item (I had grapes) AND a small drink.

So lets compare.

  • Both have burgers. You can see from the picture that the adults is larger, but not by all that much.
  • Both have the same amount of fries (you can see they’re on the same size plate).
  • Kids meal comes with an additional side item.
  • Kids meal comes with a small drink. (Pecos does not have re-fillable drinks but there are many others that DO have refillable drinks so size doesn’t matter there at all).
  • Adult meal costs $11.58, Kids meal costs $5.40

IMG_0862

So for those of you who are not math genius’ (like me) that’s more than DOUBLE for the adult meal than the kids meal.

If you were really hungry you could actually buy TWO kids meals if you were really hungry and have:

  • – TWO drinks (which would equal the same amount of one adult)
  • – TWO burgers (which together would be significantly more than the adult burger)
  • – DOUBLE the amount of fries
  • – AND get a bag of grapes AND A COOKIE

AND YOU’D STILL SAVE .78 on the adult meal!

This applies to breakfasts too!

IMG_0876The adult version of the breakfast I wanted was a single mickey waffle (which was smaller than the two individual ones combined) with bacon and it was $5.69.

The kids version? 4.99 which is .70. No big deal alone, but you missed something. With an adult you’d still have to buy a drink unless you’d pre-paid for a resort mug. With the kids meal I got that chocolate milk, AND applesauce, along with my bacon and mickey waffles. I got more food for less money.

IMG_0877And this is the norm. It’s not that much difference in amounts of food and a big difference in the price. So this is a great tip especially for people who are light eaters.

So why don’t more people do it? Well I think they’re worried they’re “going to get in trouble”. Let me reassure you… (because I eat off the kids menu all the time), the people checking you out don’t REMOTELY care what you’ve ordered or how old you are. The table-service people do because they make a tip off of your ticket, but they wouldn’t let you order off the kids meal anyhoo!

So, you want a big value that will save you a lot at Walt Disney World and Disneyland? Order off of the kids menu when eating quick service and then if you’re still hungry spring for one of these bad boys!

IMG_0927PS. This doesn’t work if you’re using the Disney Dining Plan. They’re going to take adult credits anyway so you might as well eat “bigger” (but this also makes me question if the dining plan is REALLY worth it. (to be discussed HERE at a later date so stay tuned!

ABC Family’s Jane By Design Season 1 Review

ABC Family's Jane By Design Season 1 Review

Jane By Design is an all new show on ABC Family that just finished its first season!   The superstar cast and excellent writers have put all they had into this dynamite new show!

Win a copy of Jane by Design before you can buy it! Click here to enter!

When Jane Quimby  is mistaken for an adult during an internship interview at a hip fashion company, Donovan Decker, she gets hired on as an assistant to the all powerful Gray Chandler Murray.  The show from there is all about how Jane balances her life as a high school girl – from dances to classes and dating – and her new adult life as the right hand wom-“man” to one of the most powerful people at her new company.  High school is hard enough, but keeping such a big secret from everyone except her best friend Billy, even harder!  Jane makes it from homeroom to Paris in one episode and baseball games to fashion shows in the next.

The Cast includes:

  • Erica Dasher as Jane Quimby
  • Andie MacDowell as Gray Chandler Murray
  • Nicholas Roux as Billy Nutter
  • Rowly Dennis as Jeremy Jones
  • India de Beaufort as India Jordain
  • Meagan Tandy as Lulu Pope
  • Matthew Atkindon as Nick Fadden
  • David Rogers as Ben Quimby

Jane By Design has a rating of TV-14 and I agree with the rating.  There are some situations that are only appropriate for older eyes.  Things that generally go along with high school age kids are apart of this TV show.  Although nothing crosses the line I think it is a good rating for the show.  I did let my little girl be in the room while I watched but she was busy playing with toys.  One thing I really enjoyed was this show was not filled with heavy language, which was refreshing!

I really enjoyed watching Jane By Design and cannot wait for the next season.  This show is fun, flirty, and relatable.  Everyone has had a dream at some point in there life and it is fun to think about how far you would go to make that happen! You can’t help but find yourself routing for Jane as she goes on her adventure of a lifetime!

Jane By Design Season 1 comes out on DVD March 20, 2012!  Hopefully you will pick up a copy and check it out!

RIP ‘Disney for Seniors’ Ken, we’ll miss you!

RIP 'Disney for Seniors' Ken, we'll miss you!

The Chip & Company Family learned today of the passing of our great friend Ken.  Ken was one of the founding writers for Chip when he started the site, and had over 41 PAGES of articles that he wrote for the site!  Ken loved taking his wife Helen to Disney World, as you can see in this photo taken in front of Cinderella Castle!

The unfortunate part of being a blogger on such a big site as Chip & Company is that we are all located across the Internet.  As a result of this, I never met Ken, but I think it is safe to say that I did know Ken.  He and I worked together in the Week in Review, and Ken was always ready to lend an ear or offer up a piece of advice whenever I needed some assistance with anything.

Ken’s primary focus was on Disney for Seniors, in which he gave his views on how Seniors like himself could get the most out of their Walt Disney World vacations.  Out of that series of articles was born the Facebook Page Disney for Seniors.

Another part of Ken’s writing that really stands out is his genuine love of Disney, but even more so, his hysterical sense of humor.  In his first post for Chip and Company, Ken wrote about how Seniors at Disney are a slightly different species, with the Latin name “Oldius Goodius” (Oldies but Goodies!)  I think it is the sense of humor that I will miss most about Ken, and my thoughts and prayers are with his wife at this most difficult time.

At this time, I’m sharing with you some of the thoughts of the other members of our family.  We all miss Ken in our own way, and this post is written by all of us, straight from our hearts.

Kristin had this to share about Ken:

Ken was so sweet to me when I first joined Chip and Co as a writer. He was such a Disney addict and one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. He was an inspiration to me as a writer and a dear dear man. Thank you Ken for inspiring the Disney lover in me to stay forever young!

Our friend Brenda had this to share about Ken:

Back in early 2011, Chip gave all of us an assignment – to write about the “And Company” and post personal info about ourselves in a post. I read through each of them to learn about each of our writers and I was really surprised to find out that I had the most things in common with Ken. Ken had a Disney home office, most of his clothes were Disney, and he collected snowglobes which he kept in a large china closet in his dining room; all just like me. I will never forget his answer to the most important question Chip asked of us. The question was, “What is your first Disney memory.” Ken’s answer was the very best of them all and it was this: “Walking down Main Street USA and thinking “I have finally found MY place!!“
Ken was very kind and funny. I absolutely loved the way he and Chip and Lee and Mike would feed off of each other and it would crack me up. Ken was also very patriotic, fair and honest. I believe he fought for our country and he carried that patriotism proudly. He was so excited to have his own site called “Disney for Seniors” and I am so grateful to all of you who helped him with that gift, especially you Chip for actually developing the site for him. He was always so thankful to get a card or a postcard. He was a very appreciative person and I always heard from him right away, which is actually why I have been so worried. I sent him a postcard from Disneyland during my trip on Feb 22-25. He never wrote to me to say he received it. It turns out the day I sent it was the day he died. He will be sadly missed.

One of our Disneyland experts, Jessica, wanted to share with us these thoughts about Ken:

I’m so lucky to have gotten the chance to know Ken. Unfortunately I never got to meet him in person. I liked calling him Grandpa Ken because that’s what he was to me. He was like having another grandfather. I’m truly going to miss him. He was always so sweet, kind, and silly. What a perfect combination. I’m going to miss you, Ken.

My North of the Border Buddy Lee had this to say regarding Ken:

Ken was a good example of how to face things with dignity and humor. I hope I can be half the man when it’s my turn.

Aljon from Sorcerer Radio, and a writer for Chip, had this to say:

What a great man. He will be missed. God bless him and his family.

Our resident Marvel guy, Patrick, had this to say about Ken:

I didn’t know Ken for very long. I’d just gotten to know him over the last several months when I started writing for Chip. But Ken’s happiness and humor was infectious. He has just such a great outlook on life, always looking up and enjoying it, never dreading it. He knew how to make the best of situations, and he was always there with a witty joke or some little anecdote that just made your day. He was just an all around great man, and I for one hope my life can be nearly as happy and fulfilling as his. I’ll miss you, sir.

Our writer Jess had this to share about Ken:

RIP Ken. I was just reading the email he sent when I started writing for Chip. What a warm and caring soul. May his journey to the above be filled with dole whips, park hoppers, and lots of photo ops with the Queen of Hearts!

Finally Chip who broke the news to us yesterday had this to say:

Ken was with me from the beginning. Our love of Disney and Politics would lead to some very interesting emails. I met him back in 2008 in the Passporter Forums when he would like and discuss my articles. Back before anyone ever looked at the site he was my #1 fan. Over the years I learned so much from him and hope when I am a Disney Senior I will be able to take on the parks like him. Ken was a fighter till the very end and we will all miss him dearly.

Ken, you will be are missed.

They also have an exclusive wine list and can do pairings to help make your meal even more perfect! This is the perfect place to dine after a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , with it’s “Old Hollywood Glamour” theme, its like you’re stepping back in time to the Golden Age of Hollywood!

2. 50’s Prime Time Cafe– With menu items like meatloaf, pot roast, and fried chicken, this Hollywood Studios spot is full of down home cookin ‘ just like mom made, with colorful “characters” to boot. No, it’s not a character meal, but the staff really gets into character by welcoming you into “Mom’s Family”, and making sure you mind your manners (be prepared for a punishment if you can’t keep your elbows off the table or if you don’t eat all your vegetables!). It’s a fun time for all, and if you’re lucky enough to snag a “TV Table” you can be entertained by clips of classic 50’s sitcoms. Don’t forget to follow up your meal with a Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake (you’ll be glad you did, they are out of this world!)

3.Crystal Palace– There are a lot of good things to say about this one, like the food – they serve breakfast lunch and dinner buffet style here, and everything is delicious and fresh, from the warm Mickey Waffles at breakfast to the salads at lunch and the carved meats at dinner, it is all delicious. The characters that circulate for pictures and autographs are some of my personal faves – Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet are loved by adults and kids of all ages. The other amazing thing about the Crystal Palace is it’s location – right at the entrance to Main Street in the Magic Kingdom , its an ideal spot to grab a meal, and if you’re lucky enough to be eating an early breakfast there, some amazing pictures of an almost empty Main Street! This is a must do on every trip for me, and I think the best part about it is they serve all 3 meals daily, so your chances of getting a reservation there are pretty good!

4.The Plaza Restaurant– This lesser-known spot is located on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, and they are serving up burgers, sandwiches and salads for lunch and dinner, as well as some super yummy ICE CREAM treats for dessert. The restaurant is less popular than other Magic Kingdom spots, why this is I am not sure, considering that their Plaza Club Sandwich followed by a Banana Split make for an amazing meal (…or late afternoon snack…). All of their food is fresh and delicious, and its a great place to grab a quiet, relaxing meal complete with an ice cream treat!

5. Tusker House – The only buffet available in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park , breakfast (and now lunch!) are Character meals starring Donald and friends in their safari gear! The breakfast buffet includes the usual yummy waffles/pancakes/eggs/meats etc, and also has biscuits and gravy as well as yogurt and oatmeal options. Lunch and dinner include some more African themed dishes including various carved meats, salads, hummus, and cous cous. The characters here are great, but to me its really the food that I go for, its a step above your average buffet when it comes to selection and freshness

6. Le Cellier Steakhouse – This is a very popular spot, so while I recommend ADR’s for all WDW Table Service Meals, I would HIGHLY recommend one for Le Cellier! Why, you might ask? Well, as it states in the name, they serve up a mean steak, along with some amazing seafood and prime rib as well. Their signature dish is their Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup, and they also serve up a chocolate “moose” for dessert (it really is shaped like a moose!)Le Cellier is located in the Canada pavillion of Epcot’s World Showcase , and the restaurant itself sort of feels like a wine celler, dark but warm and inviting. Dinner can get pricey, so I recommend grabbing a lunchtime meal here, where many of the dishes are similar to the dinner menu, but the prices are slightly lower

7.Tutto Italia Ristorante – I am a sucker for a good Italian Pasta Sauce, and lucky for me I can get that along with an authentic Italian dining experience at Tutto Italia Ristorante in Epcot’s Italy. Serving up all the classics, from lasagna, to spaghetti with meatballs to veal and braised short ribs, you are sure to find something here that will have you saying “That’s Amore!”. Plus they have a decent wine list and some mouth-watering Italian dessert items (like Tiramisu, Gelato, and Cannolis!). You can choose to dine on the outdoor patio at an umbrella covered cafe table, or in the beautifully themed dining room complete with Italian “Old World” ambiance
**One thing to note: the restaurant is currently closed for renovations, but will reopen in May of 2012!

8.Liberty Tree Tavern – This colonial themed restaurant in the Magic Kingdom serves up lunch as an ala carte meal, and dinner as a ‘family style’ meal (meaning you can finish all your food and they will bring you more!). The Lunch menu includes soups salads and sandwiches, and a dessert menu that includes the drool-inducing Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. Dinner is a set menu that is basically a Thanksgiving Feast that starts off with salad and rolls, and then continues to include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac and cheese, and green bean casserole. The food is nothing fancy, but it certainly hits the spot and is a must do for all Thanksgiving lovers out there. History buffs will love all the historical artifacts decorating the restaurant, and kids will love the coloring pages and crayons provided while you wait

9. Rainforest Cafe – There are two locations of this chain restaurant located at WDW – one in the Animal Kingdom Park and one at Downdown Disney. Now, I realize it may seem strange to include a chain restaurant on a top ten list like this (especially when there are so many amazing WDW restaurants!), but I promise you, my reasons are good – First, its great for kids – the kids menu is bigger than some other Disney restaurants, and the theming is perfect for little ones, they love the fish tank, animals, and overall jungle feel of the restaurant. Second, the menu selection may not be gourmet, but it is pretty large – they have a lot of different types of entrees, from burgers to salads to pasta to seafood and chicken dishes, theres a really good chance you’ll be able to find something you like on the menu. Oh, and all the menu items have rainforest themed names, which may seem corny but I think is fun and adds to the atmosphere of the restaurant

10.Wolfgang Puck Cafe – If you don’t know much about Chef Wolfgang Puck, then what you should know is that he likes to be different, to try new dishes, and as a result, you won’t find anything boring on the menu of this Downtown Disne y restaurant! Some of my faves: The bacon wrapped meatloaf, the wood fired pizzas (especially the Margherita!), and the pumpkin ravioli. The Cafe also has an extensive sushi menu, and many yummy-fruity-delicious specialty drinks! If you are looking for something new, different, and unique, I would highly recommend a meal here, Wolfgang Puck has a way of taking things we know and love and making them even more delicious (like putting bacon on meatloaf – a seriously genius concoction!)

I would highly recommend Advance Dining Reservations for ALL of the above restaurants, since they are “the best”, that means they are popular and without an ADR, you run the risk of getting stuck eating Mickey Ice Cream Bars for dinner (wait…that’s supposed to be a bad thing but I am having trouble seeing how…)

Don’t agree with my choices? Everyone has their own favorites, and I would love to hear where YOU like to eat your Table Service Meals at the Walt Disney World Parks!

Soft Opening of Storybook Circus and New Buses Coming to Walt Disney World

Soft Opening of Storybook Circus and New Buses Coming to Walt Disney World

Here there guys and gals Anonymouse here.

Its been a busy week already and its only Tuesday! Yesterday the Magic Kingdom decided to open the doors early on the Storybook Circus. Opening the Great Goofini & Dumbo.

There is no reason to reinvent the wheel so I will post a link to one of my favorite Disney Videographers Jeff Lange who I think has some beautiful pictures and video available to check out.

Check them out here.

If that News/Gossip wasn’t enough it seems Disney has been testing out some new buses around the parks. These accordion style buses should help with the overcrowding that seems to occur every time I at Walt Disney World.

Check out this video to see them in action.

So far there is just one being tested. As far as how many seats being added or if they fit in the traditional parking space is not being released. What I would love to see is Disney running more vehicles off of Bio Diesel or other alternative fuels instead of stinky old diesel.

Anywho that is all the Disney Gossip I have right now. For my past Gossip articles be sure to check them out here.
