Top 10 Disney World Attractions with the Shortest Lines

Top 10 Disney World Attractions with the Shortest Lines

It’s officially summer! Kids are on summer vacation, the temperatures are rising, people are filling up their pools, and families are going on vacation. Therefore, Disney World is a crowded place to be! If you’re visiting Disney World during the summer, you’re probably wondering how can I experience attractions without waiting and waiting? Is there anything that has a short line? Yes, there is! Disney World actually has many attractions that offer short waits almost all of the time so I have compiled a Top 10 list of attractions with the shortest lines.

1. TTA/WedWay People Mover-This attraction rarely ever has a wait; and even if it does, it’s usually very short. On really slow days, some Cast Members will even let you stay on the ride if you don’t want to get off, which is great if it’s raining or you have tired feet or tired kids. This attraction also gives riders a sneak peak of Space Mountain and is about 10 minutes long, which is pretty lengthy in comparison to other rides and shows. Regardless of what time of year you visit Disney World, you are almost always guaranteed a ride on the TTA with a minimum wait.

Disney World Quick Tips and Tricks: Breastfeeding in the Parks

Disney World Quick Tips and Tricks: Breastfeeding in the Parks

Before my family’s first trip to Walt Disney World, I was a little apprehensive about how, when and where I would breastfeed my son. He was just under three years old at the time and I knew the stigma in America with breastfeeding older children could potentially invade my dream vacation.
All of my worries were for nothing. During our first visit to the Magic Kingdom,  my nursling decided he needed a midday break while his sisters did not. We made our way to the Baby Care Center where I found a nice room had been prepared for nursing mothers. Comfortable rocking chairs, dimmed lights and air conditioning made my first visit to the Baby Care Center a must do for every day of our vacation.

Making the Most of Counter Service Dining – Downtown Disney Area

Earl of Sandwich, a quick service restaurant at Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World, is a popular fast-food stop.

By now, I’ve written how to make the most of your counter service dining at all the Disney theme parks.  Now, it’s time for the Downtown Disney area.  Downtown Disney is home to my all time favorite counter service dining location on property-Wolfgang Puck Express.  While Downtown Disney can be a great place to grab souvenirs and use some snack credits, eating a meal at some of the following locations is also a must!

Wolfgang Puck Express-Wood fired pizza, pastas, salads….tortilla soup, sandwiches, even breakfast!  This counter service location has a HUGE menu.  Love it!  Also, talk about variety.  The pizzas can be made almost any way you’d like-bbq chicken pizza, margherita pizza, four cheese pesto pizza, my mouth is watering just thinking about eating there!

Fun Facts and Photos from Cars Land at Disney California Adventure

Fun Facts and Photos from Cars Land at Disney California Adventure

It’s like stepping right into the “Cars” movie!  Route 66 leads guests at Disney California Adventure Park into Cars Land, a fully detailed, immersive re-creation of Radiator Springs, the setting for the hit Disney●Pixar animated film “Cars.” Guests will be awed by the panoramic vistas of Ornament Valley, experience the thrills of three new attractions and even get to interact with some of their favorite fuel-driven friends.

The debut of Cars Land marks the completion of a five-year expansion at Disney California Adventure, bringing more characters, more adventures and more Disney magic into the park, both day and night.

Get your kicks in Radiator Springs

  • The re-creation of Radiator Springs captures the authentic feel of Route 66 with three-dimensional versions of familiar landmarks from the film, including Cadillac Mountain Range in Ornament Valley, Luigi’s Casa Della Tires and Flo’s V8 Café.
  • Only in Radiator Springs do guests learn dance moves like the Overdrive, the Reverse and the Hairpin Turn, all part of the fun at “DJ’s Dance and Drive,” one element of the Route 66 entertainment. DJ spins auto favorites such as “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Car Wash.”
  • When night falls in Radiator Springs, 16 neon signs in bright, luminous colors light the way along Route 66.
  • Signs help tell the story in Radiator Springs, adding humor and life to the town’s four-wheeled residents.
  • The “car-acters” of Cars Land welcome guests at three new attractions: Radiator Springs Racers, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Flying Tires.
  • The historic Route 66 runs 2,448 miles from Chicago to Los Angeles. Route 66 in Cars Land is approximately 525 feet long and 23 feet wide, rich with inspiration from the actual American highway.
  • Cars Land also treats guests to food and merchandise locations inspired by the Radiator Springs landmarks in the film: Flo’s V8 Café, Fillmore’s Taste-In, Cozy Cone Motel, Radiator Springs Curios, Sarge’s Surplus Hut and Ramone’s House of Body Art.
  • The fun of the “Cars” theme extends even to the menus of the Radiator Springs roadside restaurants. Flo’s V8 Café serves old-fashioned, breakfast dishes and home-style rotisserie classics for lunch and dinner, including such specialties as a breakfast chicken tamale with scrambled eggs, entrees such as the Veggie-Tater Bake and house-made Pie-O-Rama pies including strawberry-rhubarb, blueberry-peach and apple-cheddar. At Cozy Cone Motel, each food item is a different “cone-coction,” such as “Pop-cone” and “Chile Cone Queso.”

Grand Opening Today: Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park

I highly recommend watching the Disney•Pixar film “Cars” before you visit Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park. It will refresh your memory of all the charming details of Radiator Springs, from the blinking light in the middle of town to Luigi’s Leaning Tower of Tires outside his shop. Watching it in 2D will do two things: 1) remind you of how lifelike Pixar animators made Radiator Springs look through animation, and 2) enhance your appreciation of how Imagineers made Radiator Springs a reality. Watch this video and you’ll see what I mean.

Ghirardelli’s First Theme Park Location Opens at Disneyland Resort

Ghirardelli’s First Theme Park Location Opens at Disneyland Resort

Disneyland Resort last week welcomed a new Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop to Disney California Adventure park. The new location – the first to open inside a theme park – features Ghirardelli’s world-famous hot fudge sundaes and decadent chocolate products, and represents another milestone in the expansion of Disney California Adventure.

“As we celebrate the culmination of our resort expansion, we are thrilled to welcome Ghirardelli, and to make this unique chocolate experience available to our park guests,” said George A. Kalogridis, president of Disneyland Resort. “Ghirardelli is a perfect fit for our newly reimagined Disney California Adventure, as we both share a rich California heritage.”

The new soda fountain and chocolate shop is located in Pacific Wharf, the San Francisco-inspired area of Disney California Adventure. Guests can visit the location to enjoy treats including sundaes, shakes, and floats,  plus a delicious assortment of chocolates and beautifully wrapped gifts. Each guest can enjoy a complimentary sample of the signature Ghirardelli Squares® chocolate.

“We are excited to partner with the Disneyland Resort to open our Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop in Disney California Adventure,” said Martin Thompson, President and CEO of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. “Consumers associate our premium brand with high quality, delicious chocolate and now they will have the opportunity to enjoy both our intense, slow melting chocolate and our decadent ice cream treats inside the park. Our rich heritage began in California 160 years ago this year and opening this store in Disney California Adventure is a perfect way to celebrate.”

The expansion of Disney California Adventure culminates on June 15 with the opening of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street. The 12-acre Cars Land offers three family attractions showcasing characters and settings from the Disney•Pixar blockbuster “Cars”, plus themed dining and shopping. Nearby, Buena Vista Street, a new gateway to Disney California Adventure serving a similar role to Main St. U.S.A. in Disneyland, transports guests to a nostalgic Los Angeles of the 1920s and ’30s as Walt Disney might have seen it when he first arrived in California in 1923. The two new lands follow myriad additions to Disney California Adventure, including the nighttime water spectacular “World of Color” and The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.

How to avoid the Disney World Diva Meltdowns

How to avoid the Disney World Diva Meltdowns

Melt-down – (official definition) “Severe overheating of a nuclear reactor core, resulting in melting of the core and escape of radiation.”

Disney World Melt-Down (Diva definition) “The actions that result from being tired, hot, hungry, having aching feet, being over-stimulated, saying no to your greedy kids for the 1,000th time, dealing with a nagging spouse, and knowing that you spent a lot of money to be at WDW.

WDW Melt-Downs usually manifest themselves in the park as:

Top 10 Magic Kingdom Attractions to enjoy on our next Disney World vacation!

Top 10 Magic Kingdom Attractions to enjoy on our next Disney World vacation!

When I first put the title up for this article, I was only going to list my five favorite Magic Kingdom attractions at Walt Disney World.  But when I started listing them, I realized that there was absolutely no way I could decide on just five, so I doubled it, and there you have it — my top ten Magic Kingdom Attractions to enjoy on our next Disney World vacation!  Look over my list, and tell me which ones are right, which ones are wrong, and what you would have in place instead!  Thanks!

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean — This is one of the best attractions at Walt Disney World, not just the Magic Kingdom, and it is one that I have written about quite a bit over the years.  This attraction has it all, and is right up at the top of the list for me!  It is even on my list of 30 things to do at Disney!

Fire at Disney Animation Sign in Hollywood Studios

Fire at Disney Animation Sign in Hollywood Studios

Around 9:20 pm Saturday night, the sign for The Magic of Disney Animation suffered a small electrical fire. The fire caused the area to be evacuated but no guests or Cast Members were injured. Disney says that an electrical ballast, which is a device that limits the amount of current in an electrical circuit, shorted out and caused the sign to catch fire.

The sign will be closed until further notice. The closure will not effect the attractions located inside the building. They will remain open.

Fresh Veggies, Flatbreads on Magic Kingdom Park Menus

We love a hot order of fries, but these new healthful Magic Kingdom Park sides make us happy – delicious, crunchy veggies that can be paired with some of our favorite vacation bites.

“Healthy “Healthy “Healthy

We’re a fan of the Lighthouse Sandwich (hummus and broccoli slaw) and grilled salmon with fresh broccoli at Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square, and now they’ve added fresh broccoli as a side option for any sandwich or entrée. Next time, opt for fresh broccoli to go with the crunchy chicken breast nuggets!

At Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe in Frontierland, try fresh corn on the cob with the Angus burger – and then load up with fresh lettuce, tomato, onions and more at the fixin’s bar. Over in Tomorrowland, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café has added a cool, crisp cucumber salad and fresh green beans – the perfect accompaniment to the turkey sandwich or the grilled chicken sandwich. Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant has one of our favorite combos: a decadent lobster roll with a side of roasted veggies.

“Barbecued “Caprese “Pepperoni

The new flatbreads at Pinocchio Village Haus are another crowd pleaser, thin-crusted with inventive toppings like the barbecued chicken flatbread with chicken, red onions, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses and a mango barbecue sauce. Or the Caprese flatbread with plum tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, a blend of shredded mozzarella and Parmesan, balsamic glaze, and fresh basil. Kiddies still love the simple cheese and pepperoni varieties.

No reservations required; these are all quick-service options! Have you tried any and do you have a favorite?
