“The Brave Little Toaster” Gets a Modern Update

"The Brave Little Toaster" Gets a Modern Update

Disney’s “The Brave Little Toaster” is getting a modern update as of September 19, 2012, and is becoming a completely a CGI Film (Computer Generated Imagery). “The Brave Listtle Toaster” follows the weird but fun journey of a toaster, electric blanket, lamp, radio and vacuum as they become alive and look for their master. Their master left them behind and they desperately want to find him and be with him no matter what the challenges or dangers of travels may be.

Waterman Entertainment has acquired the right to the animated film from 1987 and are looking to develop it totally in a computerized world. Interestingly, this film was pitched to Disney by John Lasseter (Pixar) to originally be a CGI film way back then. But it was cost prohibitive to accomplish this and so the film was developed in 2D.

There is no current release date and Waterman Entertainment has not begun production so the timeline is unknown.

Kelly Brubaker, mother of Chase Brubaker, a 9-year-old boy who was accidentally hit and killed in April 2010, by a Walt Disney World bus has settled her lawsuit with The Walt Disney World Company.  Brubaker, who filed an auto-negligence lawsuit against Disney and the bus driver back in October 2010, settled last month for undisclosed terms, a spokeswoman announced.

Chase Brubaker, a Redington Beach residence, was at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort on April 1, 2010, with his family when tragedy struck. Chase and another child were riding bicycles on the sidewalk, when Chase veered off the sidewalk and into the oncoming bus. Chase fell off his bike at the time and was run over by the rear right tire said the Florida Highway Patrol.

Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger would not disclose details of the settlement. “The case has been settled to the parties’ satisfaction,” she said.

Kelly Brubaker and Chase’s family has insisted that the accident was the fault of Disney and the bus driver, who had over 30 years experience with Disney.

Marvel Studios To Relocate to Glendale Closer to Disney

Pretty soon Mickey Mouse and Spiderman may soon be spotted eating lunch at the Walt Disney Studios Commissary…

The Marvel Studios are moving closer to the Disney Studios.  Marvel will be relocating to new offices in Glendale, CA which is minutes away from the Walt Disney Studios.  The move will affect about 150 Marvel staffers and is supposed to be completed by the spring of 2013.

Marvel had been the largest tenant in the Raleigh Studios (where they are moving from in Manhattan Beach, CA) for the past four years. But  Raleigh won’t we too negatively impacted by the move.  James Cameron’s Lightstorm Enterainment will be producing the next two “Avatar” sequals at Raleigh for over the next five years.

Menu Changes at Beaches & Creams Soda Shop

Menu Changes at Beaches & Creams Soda Shop

According to AJ over at The Disney Food Blog, Beaches & Cream in Disney’s Beach Club Resort has made some changes on their menu again.

There are several big changes to the entrée’s section and Sundaes Menu and even the Kids menu gets some fine tuning.

For the Hot Off The Grill section they have updated and fancified some of their burger selections to include a Bacon Angus Burger, served with blue cheese and barbecue sauce; the Beaches Rachel Sandwich, which features pastrami, sauerkraut, arugula, swiss and peppercorn-Russian dressing; and a Chicken Caesar Sandwich that hosts a Caesar salad on the sandwich. Plus Tomato Bisque as an option sounds like a crowd favorite.

Gone from the menu are the Roast Beef Sub, Turkey Sandwich, and Grilled Chicken Sandwich.

Upgraded on the menu is the turkey sandwich has been upgraded to a Classic Turkey Club and the Roast Beef Sub is now an open-face Roast Beef Sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Rumor has it that those pickle spears are made in-house now and there is no double cheeseburger anywhere on the menu so it may be gone as well…stay tuned!

For the Sundaes menu there have been a few changes here as well.

Disney Magic Celebrates Galveston as the Newest Regional Home Port for Disney Cruise Line

Disney Magic Celebrates Galveston as the Newest Regional Home Port for Disney Cruise Line

In accordance with maritime tradition, Disney Cruise Line Captain Robert Olmer and his shipboard officers hosted local port officials and community leaders aboard the 2,700-passenger Disney Magic for a plaque exchange ceremony. To salute its arrival to the Lone Star State, the Disney Magic donned a Texas-sized cowboy hat on the ship’s funnel as crew members and Disney characters waved from the upper decks of the vessel. Members of the Ghostriders equestrian drill team from Houston galloped nearby as the ship sailed into port.

“The city and the Port of Galveston have made the officers and crew members of the Disney Magic feel right at home, and we are so happy to be here,” said Disney Cruise Line Captain Olmer. “With these sailings, families from the central southern U.S. have the opportunity to sail from a port close to their own backyard.  While in Galveston, families can enjoy the historic district, beaches, museums and festivals and soak up that famous Southern hospitality.”

Disney is Scheduled to Open Boutiques in JCPenneys

Disney is Scheduled to Open Boutiques in JCPenneys

Disney is partnering with JCPenney and their shops within a shop program, by opening approximately 500 boutiques in JCPenney Stores across the country. This Fall, 500 shops will open with Walt Disney products that are exclusive to this retailer.

The boutiques are continuing JCPenney’s direction as of late with the shops with a shop approach that is to help JCPenney turn itself around and generate revenue.

According to one source, “The Disney shops will average 750 sq. ft. to 1,100 sq. ft. and sell costumes, plush toys, figurines, footwear, sleepwear, underwear, backpacks, lunch totes and apparel for boys, girls and babies.”

Many are reporting that these two companies make for strange partners, considering Disney’s brand has remained strong recently while JCPenney’s has struggled. But with the new approach JCPenney’s is focused on and the fact that Disney has similar agreements that work, where they provide licensed products to other retailers, such as Macy’s Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Kohl’s Corp., so they know what they are doing – they may just in fact prove all the naysayers wrong.
