Dreaming of a Disney Christmas

Disney does an amazing job decorating their resorts and parks during the holidays.  No detail is left  undone.  Except your own room!  This is where you come in.  Below are some tips for making your resort room special during the holiday season.  Many Disney visitors decorate for Halloween, birthdays or just because.  Same tips apply!

THE WINDOW

  • Best place to start is your window.  Before you head out, buy items at local dollar stores or Christmas Tree Shops.
  • LED string lights are best as they don’t get hot.  Bring some suction cup hooks to help display them.
  • Window clings are cheap, lightweight, and available in Disney themes.  I find mine at the Dollar Store.
  • Depending on how you pack you can go as nuts here as you like.  Most rooms have a ledge under the window to place any other decorations you like.
  • Fake snow spray is a cute idea, but be nice and clean it off before you leave!
  • A small wreath will look great on your window or door.  If you have the time make something custom with the kids before you leave.  A stop at the craft store should get you a wood or felt crafting kit.
TIP:  Make sure you have all the tools you need for setting up your decorations.  Extension cords, tape, wreath hangers, suction cup hooks etc.  Avoid nails or push pins, after all you are visiting!

Review: Disney Food Blog Mini Guide to the 2012 Food and Wine Festival

AJ Wolfe who writes Disneyfoodblog.com does not disappoint when it comes to the Disney Food Blog Mini Guide to the 2012 Food and Wine Festival. This guide  is an absolute must have for anyone touring the Food and Wine Festival for the first time or the tenth. There is an abundance of information on this downloadable resource and readers will feel they have spent their money wisely on this purchase.

Using the mini guide to tour the Food and Wine Festival was a huge help. I knew what the menus were ahead of time and had a clear idea of which foods and beverages I wanted to sample. I was also able to use the recommendations in the book for some must try foods that I would not have otherwise ordered. We toured every booth at the festival and either had a drink or a snack and many of our choices were based on the guides recommendations. I enjoyed the griddled cheese in Greece and the Pork Sliders in Hawaii the most and those were two things that I am not sure I would have tried without the guide.

Marvel Studios Releases Official Plot Synopsis for 'Thor: The Dark World'

Marvel Studios has released the full plot synopsis for ‘Thor: The Dark World’, the sequel to last year’s blockbuster hit ‘Thor’, starring Chris Hemsworth as the titular movie hero. Kenneth Branagh isn’t returning to direct the sequel this time around, but he is staying on as producer. This will be Hemsworth’s third time on screen as Thor, the God of Thunder, after first appearing in ‘Thor’, and then appearing in ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’. I’m a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, and I can’t wait to see exactly where ‘Thor: The Dark World’ is headed. I love the cast, and I’m very excited to see Christopher Eccleston, of ‘Doctor Who’ fame, playing the villain this time around. Hit the jump for the full press release.

The Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two video game returns Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with more than 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions.  Rainbow Caverns was one of the first rides built-in Wasteland, although these days the ride itself is pretty much forgotten. Now the Caverns are used for the giant Projector Substation that supplies all the power to the projectors across the world.

Letters with Pooh is one of the better Disney educational apps that I’ve seen! My 2-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter enjoyed playing it, and it was age-appropriate for both!

The Letters with Pooh app has 3 chapters. Each chapter begins with a brief read-a-long story followed by an activity geared towards helping your child learn and recognize letters within the alphabet.

Chapter One focuses on line tracing with a story line of helping Pooh find the bee hive where the honey is. Children will trace both straight and curved lines to help Pooh go in the correct direction and at the same time children are practicing skills to correctly write letters.
