Frozen Draft Beer Now Served at the Japan Pavilion in Epcot

Frozen Draft Beer Now Served at the Japan Pavilion in Epcot

Beer lovers rejoice! Now you can try the Frozen Kirin draft beer at the Japan Pavilion in Epcot!

Already a hit in Tokyo, Japan, and sold at more than 650 locations, you’ll find the frozen Kirin in the Garden House, the Kabuki Cafe and in the Tokyo Dining restaurant, says Bob Miller, dining operations manager for Mitsukoshi USA at Epcot.

For the record, it’s a light frozen topping made of beer that keeps the draft nice ‘n cold for about 30 minutes. The topping looks a little like ice cream – but it’s actually beer and tastes like beer.

“The guests were apprehensive, but very curious,” says Miller. “But once they try it, they often come back for another and bring their friends – it definitely makes the beer colder and keeps it colder longer, which is a good thing in the Florida sunshine.”

Cost is $8.

Monorail Happy Hour – An Adult Escape!

Monorail Happy Hour - An Adult Escape!

For those of you who have been to Walt Disney World before, you know that around 2 pm, the Magic Kingdom gets super crowded, the sun gets super hot, and the complaining/meltdowns/tantrums begin – and we aren’t just talking kid meltdowns, I have witnessed many adult ones too! It’s hot, crowded, you’re tired, and you just need a break.

My suggestion? Hop on the monorail and head over to the three monorail resorts for some rest, relaxation, and some adult beverages!

Monorail Happy Hour - An Adult Escape!

Start your tour at The Grand Floridian Resort, a grand resort with a lot to take in! Stroll around the lobby and check it all out, and then head over to Mizner’s Lounge – where they specialize in vintage ports and brandies. Or, head over to the Lounge at Citrico’s, a cozy bar serving up specialty martinis and international wines. Both lounges also serve a selection of light appetizers in case you should get hungry. After enjoying a martini, I recommend a stroll around the Resort, I especially enjoy the shops here, and the wedding pavillion is beautiful as well.

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Highlights According to Jess

I recently attended the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot and I have to say this.  IT. WAS. AWESOME!

For those that have never been the Food and Wine Festival highlights foods and drinks from around the world. There are nearly thirty unique kiosks set up around the World Showcase Lagoon for your touring pleasure. There are also seminars, demonstrations, and a special Eat to the Beat Concert Series.

Australia’s Menu

We spent nearly three days at Food and Wine and we were able to sample food and drink at nearly every booth. I was blown away by the quality of the food and even though had been to the festival before, was able to try many new things. I highly suggest planning a trip around this event.  Some of my favorite things were the Swedish Meatballs from Scandinavia, The Chicken with Macaroni from France washed down with an Eiffel Sour Cosmo Slush, The Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and Honey in Greece, the grilled beef skewer with chimichuri sauce in Argentina and The Dark Chocolate Mousse with Chili and Salted Caramel at the Dessert booth. You seriously cannot imagine how good that mousse was! I was a skeptic, but the combination of flavors was out of this world!

Tom Hanks on Becoming Walt Disney for ‘Saving Mr. Banks’

Tom Hanks on Becoming Walt Disney for 'Saving Mr. Banks'

Tom Hanks, one of our day’s beloved actors, spoke recently about his upcoming movie “Saving Mr. Banks” where he has the honor of portraying an even more beloved man, Walt Disney. “Saving Mr. Banks”  is a movie about all the behind-the-scenes handling and wrangling it took to produce the classic, “Mary Poppins”.

“It’s like another version of Mary Poppins by way of the relationships between P.L. Travers, who wrote it, and everybody that made the movie cause it was a very contentious experience,” said Hanks.

“Saving Mr. Banks” focuses on the struggle between the author, who wrote the beloved novel in 1934, and Walt Disney who made a promise to his daughters in the 1940s to turn the book into a movie.

From the beginning to it’s 1964 release, Disney and Travers argued over most everything, Arguments ensued over script, tone and casting, with Travers even complaining that her character, as depicted by Julie Andrews in her Hollywood debut, was too pretty and too nice.
