2 Stranded People are Rescued by the Disney Dream

Disney-rescue--2--jpg

Two people are getting a free Disney cruise, but not by doing anything the easy way. The cruise ship the Disney Dream received a distress call from a small boat with two people stranded in the middle of the ocean.

The Dream launched a lifeboat and was able to bring the two stranded people aboard. Both rescued passengers needed food, water and non-life threatening medical attention but both are expected to be okay. The ship returned to Port Canaveral on Thursday with the two rescued on board.

I have so many questions for these two but unfortunately, no one is talking yet. Hopefully we will hear more about this story! I am sure the two rescued were very thankful to see a Disney Cruise ship, just like we all are!

2013 Disney Pro Soccer Classic at Walt Disney World

soccer

Several of North America’s most storied soccer franchises will take to the field for the 2013 Disney Pro Soccer Classic from Feb. 9-23 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.

The eight-team field includes Major League Soccer’s DC United, Philadelphia Union, Sporting Kansas City, Columbus Crew, Toronto FC and Montreal Impact, as well as the North American Soccer League’s Tampa Bay Rowdies and United Soccer Leagues’ Orlando City Soccer. With six MLS teams, the Pro Soccer Classic is the MLS’ largest preseason soccer tournament. The teams will train at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and throughout Central Florida as part of the Central Florida Sports Commission’s Soccer Spring Training initiative.

Sporting Kansas City will make ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex its official preseason training home. In 2011-12, the team finished first in the East and advanced to the quarterfinals of the MLS Cup Playoffs. As winners of the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Sporting KC will represent Major League Soccer in the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League.

Joining Sporting KC at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is Toronto FC.  The team already has established ties to the Pro Soccer Classic and complex, which has been Toronto’s official preseason training home the past three years. The club is the four-time defending Amway Canadian Champions, and in 2011-12, Toronto progressed to the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League tournament.

The American Idol Experience at WDW Introduces New Songs for a New Season

ai

Just as “American Idol” on television makes changes each season, The American Idol Experience has recently been updated with the addition of 14 new songs, which guests can choose to perform for their big moment on stage.

Many of the new songs, including hits from former American Idols, are titles that have been requested by guests auditioning at The American Idol Experience. Taking a cue from the television show, where country music has become more prominent, the list also adds several more songs from that genre.

Here’s the complete list of the recent additions, bringing the total number of songs available for auditions to 158. Which one would be a dream come true for you to perform on The American Idol Experience stage?

Easy Ways to Save Money for your next Disney Vacation

straight to the airport copy

In this economy, taking a Disney Vacation can be a luxury, but it’s still something we all want to do, particularly those of us who want, no wait, need to visit the Mouse. While the best way to do it is to put money directly into a trip fund every month, there are a few painless ways save up for that big vacation as well:

  1. Pay with cash and throw the change in a  Disney only jar. When the jar gets full, you can celebrate by taking it to your bank and putting it into your trip savings.
  2. Make your reservation as far out as possible. You’ll pay a deposit, then every other week, make a small payment. Those payments really add up and will give you a feeling of satisfaction every time you pay and let you know you’re getting closer to your trip.
  3. Have a garage sale. You’d be shocked at how much you can make just by cleaning out the house. Take the money you make and add it to your trip fund. As an added Bonus you get a cleaner, neater house.
  4. Don’t want to have a garage sale? Put your stuff out on Craigslist. The great thing about Craigslist is that you can do it at your own pace and you don’t have to set anything up. Be wary of scammers and fraud; read the tips for sellers on the website. Craigslist has cracked down on scammers in recent months, but it doesn’t hurt to be as cautious as possible. Never meet someone at your home while you’re alone. Try a public parking lot in the middle of the day with people around. McDonalds is a good place and is always busy.
  5. Clip coupons. I have a good friend who absolutely doesn’t need to clip coupons, but she does it as a sort of hobby and gives what she saves to charity, earning about $200 a month for buying the same things she’d normally buy. You’ll put your savings into your trip fund. Check out Couponing to Disney for some great ideas. If you never seem to find the coupons you like, join a coupon train at a place like Disboards, where members join up and send each other coupons. It’s a great way to save money and meet fellow Disney fans.

Adam the Woo ‘The Disney Explorer’ is No Longer Welcome at Disney

ScreenHunter_01 Jan. 17 14.17

One of the biggest Disney fans (if crazy is the monitor of it) is Adam the Woo. Adam has a history of “breaking into” backstage areas of Disney and filming and chatting about what he sees for his popular blog and youtube videos. But it is no longer to be for Adam the Woo and Disney.

Adam the Woo’s latest adventure was to Hollywood Studios and when he left to return to his car to download pictures and then was returning later to the park he got nabbed by Disney security. If you want to see him tell the whole (very long) story you can see it by clicking HERE.

Disney security issued him a lifetime ban for his “trespassing ways” and Adam the Woo is shocked! He thought he would get a slap on the wrist or some short suspension but not a lifetime ban, he really is upset because he is a HUGE Disney fan.

Well, the story has not ended yet as it seems some of his fans have started a petition to get him allowed back into Disney. I guess we will have to wait and see! Chip has since talked to Adam and he is presently not doing any interviews or really talking about the matter.

Do you think he should have banned for life? Or should he just been slapped on the wrist? Let us know in the comment box below.

Switched at Birth goes without sound for an all new episode airing March 4th

LIZZY WEISS (CREATOR/EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/WRITER)

ABC FAMILY ANNOUNCES GROUND-BREAKING TELEVISION EVENT WITH AN ALL-ASL EPISODE OF THE HIT FAMILY DRAMA “SWITCHED AT BIRTH” TO AIR MONDAY, MARCH 4 AT 8:00PM ET/PT

ABC Family’s award-winning original series, “Switched at Birth,” will produce an episode told entirely in American Sign Language (ASL), a first for a scripted series on mainstream television, which will premiere Monday, March 4 at 8:00PM ET/PT.

The special episode will be told from the perspective of the series’ multiple deaf characters – with open captions for hearing viewers – in a storyline that puts the audience in the middle of a student uprising in which the very essence of their deaf identity is at stake. Now in its second season, “Switched at Birth” is the first mainstream television series to have multiple deaf and hard-of-hearing series regulars and scenes shot entirely in ASL.

“I’ve been wanting to do an all-ASL episode since the series began, and the story line we’ve been focusing on this season gave us the perfect opportunity. It’s an exciting, visual, empowering story of kids who are different fighting back, and it allows our audience to experience the world as our deaf characters do. We’ve been building to this for 39 episodes and we’re all thrilled to be the first to try this,” said series creator and Executive Producer Lizzy Weiss.

I can’t wait to see an episode of the show without sound! This will be a very interesting episode to tune into and i know for a fact i will be!

Stay tuned for more Switched at Birth

White House Responds to ‘Star Wars’ Death Star Petition

death-star

In what I believe was a lighthearted moment the White House officially responded to a “We the People” petition to “secure  resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016.”

Though the White House has decided against going forward with the Death Star plan, and you can see the full version of why they oppose the idea HERE, the main points that came from the White House are:

  1. “The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850 quadrillion. We’re working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.”
  2. “The Administration does not support blowing up planets.”
  3. “Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?”

The statement was prepared by Paul Shawcross, the chief of the Science and Space Branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget. The Death Star petition has over 34,000 signatures; which is well over the minimum of 25,000 needed to garner a response from the White House. The “We the People” program is an online petition program that allows citizens to have a voice with their suggestions.

Quick Service Dining at Disney’s Animal Kingdom… Does it exist?

flame_tree_BBQ

Disney’s Animal Kingdom may not be open as long as many of the other parks but they do pack in as much as they can in the hours that is available. While walking around I know I get hungry. We often get asked from fans, Are there many Quick Service choices for Dining in Disney’s Animal Kingdom? My answer would be, most definitely, and it’s some of the best food I’ve found in the Walt Disney World Parks.

Here is a rundown of what you can find throughout the park for snacks, a quick bite or a full meal. There are carts scattered all over the park, with often one item and beverages being the only options. Also a great choice are kiosks with no seating provided, but with plenty available nearby, usually 3 or more choices with beverages. Lastly there are full Quick Service plazas with dining, restroom facilities and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating.

Why include the carts and kiosks? Well, sometimes snacking around the Animal Kingdom is the best way. There are tons of nooks to grab a table and enjoy your surroundings.

Discovery Island

  • The Beastly Kiosk-Offers corn dogs, chips and beverage choices.  Perfect if you are looking for quick eats as you enter the park.
  • Safari Coffee-One of several kiosks near the tree of life. Perfect for an early morning stop, Safari Coffee offers coffee, espresso beverages, breakfast pastry and cupcakes. Seating is available nearby.
  • Safari Ice Cream, Popcorn and Pretzels-Three kiosks located right before the entrance to Africa. Here you will find hand scooped ice cream, popcorn and stuffed pretzels. All serve water and soft drinks. The popcorn kiosk also serves beer.
  • Flame Tree Barbecue A Full Quick Service option near the road towards Dinoland, USA. The menu consists of house-smoked specialties; including ribs, pork and chicken. Salads and beverages are available. Seating is an outdoor, partially covered pavillion with amazing views of Everest.
  • Pizzafari-Also a Full Quick Service option on the path towards Camp Mickey and Minnie.  Both breakfast aand lunch are served here.  Another benefit is indoor (aka air-conditioned) and outdoor seating.  Breakfast options include Eggs, French Toast, Frittatas and Fresh Fruit.  Lunch offers Pizza, Sandwiches and Salads.

More Disney Dreams Coming True for Young Girl

cooper_12

Some dreams do come true, at least for Grace Edemenson their is one big one coming true! Grace is a twelve year old girl from Holway in the UK and is going to Disney. Sounds like a normal kid’s life…but Grace is different she has global development delay, which means she is confined to a wheelchair and also has trouble communicating.

The good people at Cooper Associates, which supports the Dreams Come True charity, raised the money that is paying for Grace’s trip to Florida.

The Cooper Associates employees did different endurance tests to raise the money including running the London Marathon, climbing the three highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales and cycling a great distance.

Grace’s mother, Lynda, who lives in the Chestnut Drive area of Holway, said: “I can’t thank Cooper Associates enough for their efforts and I’m delighted that Grace can go to a place she has fantasized about for a very long time.”

DESPERATE SECRETS CALL FOR DESPERATE MEASURES IN AN ALL NEW EPISODE OF “PRETTY LITTLE LIARS,”AIRING TUESDAY, JANUARY 29TH AT 8:00 PM ET/PT ON ABC FAMILY

Secrets drive the Liars into taking desperate actions, in “Out of the Frying Pan, into the Inferno,” an all new episode of ABC Family’s hit original series “Pretty Little Liars,” airing Tuesday, January 29th (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT).

Aria knows that she should tell Ezra about his son, but she isn’t ready to face the idea of what it might do to her relationship. Hanna, on the other hand, is sure Caleb is keeping a secret from her and she is determined to find out what it is. Spencer is fed up with all of the secrets and decides she no longer wants to play the games. Will their secrets drive the girls to take desperate actions that could, in turn, make the situation worse?
